As my ranger party bit the dust, I decided to use my random party generator program to create a full party of 6. Leeta's and the other party members stats are below:

**** Axe
Saleena the Human Swashbuckler, Lawful Neutral
STR 18 DEX 9 CON 16 INT 18 WIS 11 CHA 15
Jade the Human Assassin (why do all random parties seem to include this class?), chaotic good
STR 17 DEX 9 CON 18 INT 17 WIS 18 CHA 12
Faleena the Half-Elf Cleric/Mage, Neutral Evil
STR 5 DEX 11 CON 15 INT 17 WIS 17 CHA 17
Tellie the Human Shapeshifter, True Neutral
STR 5 DEX 17 CON 17 INT 18 WIS 12 CHA 15
Carl the Human Diviner, True Neutral
STR 15 DEX 17 CON 10 INT 17 WIS 16 CHA 17
Some thoughts:
Definite strength issues with the party. Faleena is so weak, she can't even use armor except leather, except leather overburdens her with her 15 lb of strength...she is so weak she can't use her proficiency in flail either. Though a cleric, too weak to use a large shield. Tellie super weak too, but since Tellie can't wear armor that's less of an issue. I might be using the werewolf form a lot, if only to help carry things.
The one class that needs the most DEX (thieves), both thieves in the party have the worst DEX. A few other characters have the potential to be better thieves than the pure thieves...
Surpring number of dual class possiblities, so many it's confusing me:
- With the intelligence tome, Leeta could dual to mage -- that could be good, though not until level 9 (for the HP)
- Carl can dual to thief -- but with a wisdom tome, he could dual to druid or cleric as well! If Leeta duals at level 9, Carl could dual at level 9 as well to a cleric, and he's strong enough to wear cleric armor. Losing him (a pure mage) wouldn't hurt much if Leeta duals, then basically she will be one to take his place.
- The rest of humans can't dual because they don't have 15 in their base class stats.
A lot of these classes (swashbuckler, assassin, shapeshifter, diviner) I NEVER play - this will be quite a challenge.

Using the same random generator as Corey, here are the results I got:
Tor - Male, Dwarf, Fighter/Thief, Neutral Evil
Str 10, Dex 10, Con 18, Int 12, Wis 14, Cha 13
Nan - Female, Gnome, Barbarian, Lawful Evil
Str 13, Dex 15, Con 8, Int 18, Wis 11, Cha 15
Isher - Female, Halfling, Priest of Talos, Neutral Evil
Str 6, Dex 14, Con 14, Int 18, Wis 14, Cha 10
Fit - Male, Gnome, Berserker, Neutral Good
Str 17, Dex 18, Con 15, Int 7, Wis 16, Cha 3
Dunder - Female, Half-Orc, Fighter/Thief, Lawful Neutral
Str 12, Dex 18, Con 18, Int 4, Wis 11, Cha 13
Cid - Male, Halfling, Assassin, Chaotic Evil
Str 17, Dex 17, Con 11, Int 10, Wis 17, Char 5
The stats are good - much better than could be expected from a single roll in the game. However, it would have been nice if the second fighter/thief and the assassin had offered some arcane potential instead. Unlike Corey's human dominated party this one consists solely of demi-humans, so there's no chance of doing a bit of rebalancing by dual classing.

I would like to join with another randomized party as well, but for some reason I can't seem to start a multiplayer game since I modded my installation (fixpack, bgt, hardtimes, scsI+II, item randomizer). Does anybody know how to fix this?

Mh. Coreys party seems really strong (especially with the dualing possbilites - usually that doesn't happen due to a lack of humans), while Grond0's is more like the things I usually roll, though with some very nice dexterity scores. Good luck to both of you!

Thanks for the luck, I'll need it. With the PC being the only viable tank, that could be a problem (especially if facing something that might be able to one-shot -- winter wolves anyone?). Admittedly my party is only level 1 and survived Neira and Noober. So far, the thieves of my party are the real non-performers, neither of them can hit squat -- well that's not quite true, the swashbuckler can hit something if she melees, but she gets hit so much she has to retreat after two rounds...using throwing daggers for her for now, just so I don't have to waste heal potions on her.
The 3 casters however, have all pulled their weight so to speak -- to be truthful they are carrying the party, the front 3 sure aren't carrying it. But we run out of spells quickly usually after two battles. We got caught without spells against a pack of xvarts and they killed the swashbuckler.
Maybe with more levels, the swashbuckler and assasin will carry their weight, but for now they are the liabilities of the party.
EDIT: Grond0, I think it's a good thing that thief scores are NOT randomized -- my thieves actually had negative scores in multiple areas! -- they can do ONE thing since it's not randomized. Proficienicies make sense to me though (but would be a head scratcher if all points went to styles) though, so that will be down the road...and Grond0, at least you have ONE caster, and decent front-liners. I think your party will be stronger for BG 1, my party might be stronger in BG 2.

Yes Noober always survives - want the kind of free experience. I am a chess player so I have lots of patience. The thieves are close to leveling thanks to Noober...

Already had a very near disaster, we were level one and got the ambush below:

The health on the left is our health as of exit; all damage is one hit per character, I easily could have had 3 deaths, but dodged a bullet...how many more bullets can I dodge though?

I'm not sure if you realise (I didn't for a long time), but you can speak to Noober rather than waiting for him to speak to you. That probably cuts 90% off the time required for that encounter.corey_russell wrote...

So, here's my randomized party. I randomized absolutely everything, except for the looks.
1. The Bhaalspawn - Drusilla, a female, neutral evil gnome and a fighter/cleric with *Warhammer, **Flail, *Mace. Her stats are:
11/16/10/14/11/15
2. Ulrich, a male, chaotic neutral dwarf and a cleric with *Mace, *Quarterstaff. His stats are:
10/14/14/11/15/13
3. Junius, a male, lawful good human and an archer with *Longbow, **Shortbow, *Two-Handed Weapon Style. His stats are:
17/16/15/5/15/8
4. Onesiphoros, a male, lawful evil human and a cleric with *Flail, *One-Handed Weapon Style. His stats are:
15/12/7/10/16/17
5. Padma, a female, neutral good elf and a diviner with *Sling. Her spell selection includes: Larloch's Minor Drain, Reflect Image, Infravision, Chill Touch, Magic Missle, Sleep, Protection from Evil, Protection from Petrification. Her stats are:
11/14/9/14/16/12
6. Jehoash, a male, chaotic evil half-elf and a wizardslayer with *Bastardsword, *Scimitar, *Crossbow, *Two-Handed Weapon Style. His stats are:
9/13/15/15/13/13
All in all, Junius is definetly the character standing out. Getting profiency points in ranged weapons for an archer was really lucky (considering there are 24 different profiencies), and he has the best stats. Also: No thief, but 3 clerics and a wizard. Also, no good potential tank. Will propably use mainly ranged weapons early on.

The poor Thac0 of the party (as well as fighting enemies immune to sleep -- where's my paladin or berserker (jealous look at Grond0)) finally caught up to us -- ghasts devastated the party including the PC as you can see below:
Will roll another random party soon. This was one bullet I wasn't able to dodge.

Tor's random scrapings update 1.
I realised that I had given Nan (gnome barbarian) proficiency in 2-handed swords that she was not basically strong enough to use. However, she can equip them when she flies into a rage and is then able to move between weapons using the quick weapon slots, so no real harm done.
The party got an early XP boost by killing Firebead in Candlekeep, though he did manage to kill Cid in return. Then moved to Beregost for a few chores. The intention was to go on to kill Drizzt - his armour being particularly coveted by Tor as a fighter/thief. He used up 280 arrows to get Drizzt to near death, only for some random lightning to finish him off (stealing the XP in the process).

They have now arrived in Nashkel and reopened the inn for business. Characters have generally got 1 level each at this point.

Tonall and party, has been generated using my random party generator program. No dual classing this time...the only setup that isn't random is appearance, thief points and proficiencies. Not doing great with proficiencies, I got one character with no ranged weapon proficiencies, and another who is too weak to use theirs.
Tonall gets to stay in the back this time, so far seems to be helping him:
Tonall

Lyroc
Female, Half-Orc, Priest of Lathander
Neutral Good
STR 8 DEX 16 CON 12 INT 12 WIS 18 CHA 15
Hetnon
Male, Gnome, Thief
Chaotic Good
STR 17 DEX 13 CON 14 INT 11 WIS 15 CHA 15
Yennen
Male, Human, Blade
Lawful Neutral
STR 18 DEX 12 CON 10 INT 15 WIS 15 CHA 18
Pellie
Female, Half-Elf, Conjurer
Neutral Evil
STR 15 DEX 13 CON 15 INT 13 WIS 14 CHA 14
Hemmet
Male, Halfling, Priest of Talos
Lawful Evil
STR 13 DEX 19 CON 10 INT 16 WIS 15 CHA 16
Experience so far:
It's been a struggle. I've been fighting tooth and nail for every bit of progress. In many ways it's two steps forward, one step back, because party members die regularly. Even with 2-3 levels under their belts, party members still occassionally get killed by kobold archers. Ton of gold has been for resurrections.
Tonall had some extremely difficult battles in the area south of Beregost. At one point in one battle, 3 ghouls, 3 ghasts and 4 hobgoblins were on the hook simultaneously -- the party of course couldn't tank that and had to run over 1/2 the map, sometimes getting more adds. We did win that fight, but Pellie got killed in the process. We'd resurrect and come back and more ghasts and ghouls. We had to run and shoot and miss. Since everyone's Thac0 is so bad, I've been having the blade do nothing for most fights and just run his bard song -- this helps. I do use his spins on difficult fights
Another incident of note is that Hemmet got hit by rigid thinking by Neira -- he killed a citizen, lowering our rep and permanently making the Nashkel Inn unusable by us. Some citizens ran outside, but fortunately the town itself is not hostile, so I will still be able to report to the mayor when it comes time.
Found out something new in EasyTutu - killing Marl is a reputation loss (4 pts). Won't be doing that in any more EasyTutu runs (unless of course running an evil party and WANT to lower my rep) Vanilla is no rep loss.
This random party is a lot of work, if your party had anything like my party's issue Enuhal, I've impressed you made it all the way to the end of ToB. My party will be lucky to get past Sarevok...

Uninstalled widescreen in order to be able to create a new multi-party, but didn't close the game first and have corrupted something which is not corrected by my back-up files. Looks like a new installation is required - not a good morning.

My party is continuing to make progress, which includes dieing (not Tonall though of course). My rangers destroyed the ambushes, this party is struggling and for lot of ambushes just run away. The gold situation is really tough, I can't seem to get over 2000 gold, as it keeps being siphoned off by required resurections/potions purchaes. It's still going though, will give it my best shot...

I normally go to high hedge, but not sure I should -- I will get 6-8 skeletons all with throwing daggers..the front-liner has OK AC (-4), but a few crits could knock him out and if that happened it would be chaos. Strangely enough I think Greywolf will be easier for our party (we have 3x hold, 2x command and 1x blind).

No I don't mean clear the map, just head there then swerve directly to Beregost, avoiding any enemies. My pet opening for the game goes like this:
East of Candlekeep->High Hedge->Beregost-> South of Beregost, if mage spell "Charm" is available, charm flaming fist and have him kill ogres->move south to Nashkel->Kill Greywolf or collect Gauntlets of Dex and then save Brage/Temple Ruins->sell loot buy potions of mirroring eyes/pro scroll and go Bassilisk Hunting. Very mechanical but works for most anything, you don't even have to think about it.

Tor was a figher/thief so not vulnerable to criticals, which was why I wasn't worried about a single hit. I do normally switch weapons, but I assume I forgot here as I don't think a worg would normally be able to do 15 HPs in one hit.corey_russell wrote...
And yeah I try to be real careful not to have ranged weapon equipped on any type of wolf that's close, don't want them to get that +4 bonus. A crit should be able to take out 15 HP...I usually don't feel safe from crits until over 30 HP myself (though of course, certain strong enemies can still get that high).
