Weavel, TN human male shapeshifter.

Gorion dies as we leave Candlekeep. Imoen suggests we help a stricken ranger called Minsc so I hand him the ankheg armour and head to a coastal fortress. Within moments Imoen has run out of arrows and Minsc is lamenting his unprotected bonce.

I tear my way through groups of gnolls, with Minsc guarding my back. We rescue Dynaheir, only for her to disappear while hunting for firewood as we try to befriend a fighter called Shar Teel.

Shar Teel trades her helmet for the sword of Brage. As she grasps it she runs off like a woman possessed, attacking a basilisk. I return to tell Minsc that Dynaheir is safe and Shar Teel is keeping a watching eye on her.
Posted Image

Imoen sniffs out a magical ring fire protection, then we agree to help an injured deserter called Samuel. We are ambushed twice on the way so I have to carry the body of Imoen too. Fortunately Minsc survives, otherwise I would have had to carry him too.

After Samuel is safe I pay to have Imoen raised from the dead. An assassin called Tarnesh scares Imoen and myself then kills her. Minsc tries to fight back but is killed next. I recover and attack, getting a final set of magic missiles before killing her. Back to the temple to raise my companions.

The wanted poster has me bang to rights.

Good luck Gate70. Shapeshifters rarely make it to BG 2 and beyond, here's hoping your character can make it to ToB.

Maelik's run has come to an unfortunate end...

Crossover have released a new version of their software to let you run PC games in Mac or Linux. And to be fair the software is great and the upgrade process is very user friendly. However that didn't stop a certain user from upgrading late at night, not using the nice & friendly migration tool to move over my existing BG tutu install from the previous version.. and then deleting my existing one. So .. Maelik vanished into the aether.. perhaps reclaimed by the Lord of Murder ;)

So .. today saw a fresh EasyTutu installation and a new run! I will revisit the Fighter -> Thief (Dual) assassin type build though as I was enjoying that run...

Sargiel - Gnome - LE - Illusionist

Str: 8
Dex: 18
Con: 18
Int: 19
Wis: 17
Cha: 8

Weapon Prof: Dart * (as he has no strength I thought it made sense to not go for my usual favourite for wizards, the sling)

I was pleasantly surprised that the gnome wizard looks quite good in game :) And that played a part in deciding on the theme for this run .. shorties only!

Party to be assembled will be: Sargiel, Montaron, Kagain & Tiax. This does mean I'll be without a cleric for a long time unless I get brave and try and blitz the chapters to get into BG.. But levelling will be fairly quick with only 3 characters. I will be keeping Rep low when earning Bhaal powers so no cheating and gaining any pansy cure light wounds for my evil mob :) What deity does Tiax follow btw ? I've never actually had him in a party before..

I think I will have to use Algernon's cloak though .. if I've a strong melee class I tend not to use it but I think I may find this run a bit challenging. It will be good to have my mage be so needed though to force me to think more creatively about how I use my spells.

East of Candlekeep

Imoen was sent packing.. but only after she'd donated her belongings to the cause. Met Montaron and Xzar along the road.. and Sargiel quickly made it known he would be happy to lend his magical prowess to investigating the iron shortage. Xzar promptly died in his sleep.

South then East to Beregost

The duo were recruited by Kagain despite the low amount of coinage per head. Turning on the treacherous Silke proved more profitable and granted Sargiel a magical weapon in the form of her staff. Another assassin was encountered and slain .. the trail leading them to my merry band must still be warm.. The trusting old mage from Candlekeep had made his way to Beregost. That was one too many people who recognised me and so a knife found it's way into his heart giving the group a vacant building, a base of operations and (after some adjustments) some robes for Sargiel. The spider infestation was cleansed without too much difficulty.

Southwards Ho!

Avoiding any encounters the group made it to Nashkall and introduced themselves to the Mayor .. Montaron was already expected.. curious.

Entering the local inn another assassin was waiting .. and was put to the sword.

Posted Image

South of Beregost

Hunted down a band of hob-goblins and looted some boots of stealth. Montaron was welcome to them if he could cope with the stench .. Likewise some ogryns blocked the road and paid for their insolence - mainly from Montarons bow as by this stage my magic was exhausted and Kagain was injured. After recovering the letter from the dead halfling the group headed north again back to Beregost and some well deserved rest ..

And that's all for today :)

Good luck Melchom.

Weavel, TN human male shapeshifter. Travelling with Imoen and Minsc plus Viconia and Jaheira.

We help Joia, then a woodland dryad and a drowned cat before recruiting Viconia, Jaheira and Khalid. Khalid almost reaches a gnome called Mutamin before he is turned to stone.

Imoen asks why our two new companions are needed so a demonstration is required. Jaheira dooms Bassilus then Viconia commands him but Imoen suggests this could be a lucky break. Fine; Greywolf requires a doom and two commands.

Imoen asks when we're likely to need to do that.
Posted Image

On the way out a group of amazons get nasty so we respond in kind. Minsc interrupts Lamahla as Jaheira dooms her. Viconia silences all four but I have to glug a blue potion to counter Telka and her arrows.

I'm thinking rigidly, running away badly wounded understatement, 1/27hp and thinking Corey has called the game here. Jaheira has moved in to heal me but instead draws her dagger and acts as a decoy. Minsc kills Lamahla with an arrow as Viconia commands Telka. We make sure she's not getting up again, Jaheira finishing the job with a dagger.

I have reached Minsc and slice into him. He runs as Viconia commands Maneira, this time Imoen makes sure the command is terminal. Zeela has wounded Jaheira but Viconia commands her and Minsc ends the battle.

I'm cowering near the collapsed cave entrance, regaining my senses moments later. Nimbul and Tranzig are easy pickings in comparison.

Detman the solo Undead Hunter entering Trilogy no-reload challenge.

Since Core bit it earlier today, rolled a new character. The intent is for him to be solo in BG 1 (to speed up his progress), but party in BG 2.

Detman the Undead Hunter:
Posted Image
** Axe
** Two-Hand Sword
** Long Bow

I started him earlier today, and he's made good progress. I have been using throwing axes greatly this run (more than any other of my runs) -- they have very useful. When he was level 1, the throwing axes one-shotted many of the enemies in my way of getting to Nashkel. He's never been less than 50% health yet this run.

Despite Detman's 23 STR (via potion) and -6 AC, I assumed Melium was the better fighter and used throwing axes on him until he was near death, then Detman's battle axe finished him.

The Nashkel mines were clear using necklace of missiles and Greenstone amulet against Mulahey. It should be noted that the amulet has been recharged, since it will be a key piece of equipment the entire run.

Detman is currently saving up to recharge the necklace of missiles, once that is done he will work on the main story line (bandit camp next).

Bluestaff, Drizzt, Dynaheir and Coran raced through Candlekeep and started the Stone of Askvar quest. Unfortunately the watchtower area is greyed out. Have I forgotten swomething?
In the meantime, while awaiting an answer, I headed for Durlag's Tower. Since Bluestaff has regained his fighting abilities, he is almost as powerful as Drizzt! ***** in staves plus ** in two handed weapons plus a +3 clerics staff is quite a combination. I haven't even had to use his berserker abilities much.

Detman the solo level 7 (soon to be 8) Undead Hunter adventure continues...

Detman is currently working his way through the Cloakwood Mines. Some incidents of note:

Amazon Assassins:
With the only prep being greenstone amulet, Detman laid into the amazons with his throwing axes. Despite massive number of missiles and spells being sent at Detman, the amazons only managed to get a single good hit on him. The money from this loot allowed Detman to recharge the necklace of missiles.
Posted Image

Some more gold is still helpful, so Detman dealt with Molkar and buddies. He used a few more potions this time (heroism, insulation, greenstone amulet, potion of magic blocking) and also opened with a potion of explosions. He then laiid into the enemies with his throwing axes/battle axe and succeeded. Firewine bridge was cleared from the Gullykin side using a potion of absorption.
Posted Image

Detman is ignoring the things in the Cloakwood as much as possible. But he needs the spider's bane. It took a lot of resources, but was worth it. Detman is too dumb to use a protection from poison scroll natively. Therefore, he got a potion of mind focusing, potion of genius, aforementioned scroll, 2 potions of fire resistance and fully charged the necklace of missiles and some freedom potions. This put his fire resistance > 100 so when he battled to and through Centeol and her friends, he was actually healing himself with his fireballs. Spider's Bane is now Detman's.

As for Drassus and his buddies, Detman fired a few fireballs from necklace of missiles, which killed the mages. Detman then whittled down the melees with his spider's bane, including a nice hit of 46 damage on Drassus. Since his buffs were running, he battles his way to the 2nd level, then returned to sell/identify.

Heirashan and her friends are the next targets tomorrow. My biggest concern is the battle horrors on Daveorn's level -- they give my full parties heck, how will I do it solo? We'll see I guess...

Sargiel - Gnome - LE - Illusionist - Update

Still South of Beregost

Decided to postpone the return to Beregost. Montaron had a lot of arrows and how better to use them than hunt down the last of the ghasts/ghouls on the map ? :) Kagain had also regenerated by the time the hunting trip was over and so the group cleared the rest of the map. As part of my experimenting with different spells I used a scroll of colour spray.. and promptly took out Montaron along with some hobgoblins. Luckily I didn't get Kagain so he dispatched the last hobgoblin standing. It's quite an effective spell .. but need to be more careful in future! :)

This took Kagain and Montaron up to Level 3 and 2/2 respectively.

Kagain is a more effective tank now he has the ankhag plate .. but he does need the gauntlets of dexterity to help him stand his ground without taking too much of a beating. As always I love his regeneration though!

Beregost

Passed the message to Mirianne and collected our reward and sold our loot & stocked up on ammo again. Also spent 3K on the +1 Battle Axe for Kagain before heading north.

North of Beregost

Kagain decided the call off the search and join the party for good. Bandits and beast alike fell to the victorious band .. as did a peculiar ogre whose belt was claimed by Kagain. Another ring of protection was looted and gratefully received by Sargiel. And an old man was met on the Lions Way .. he seemed overly familiar and was met with suspicion. We'll see if he makes a return in the future...

Friendly Arm Inn

Charmed my way into some assistance with yet another tiresome assassin and the hobgoblins surrounding the 'Inn'

Posted Image

They unfortunately didn't survive the latter test ;)

Returned the belongings from the spider house in Beregost and found a Ring of Wizardry. Again stocked up on missiles and sleep before heading out into the wilderness.

Sargiel is now level 3 but without any level 2 spells to cast...

Update for Paragon and power party

They have cleared most of the external areas now and I will probably finish those off before going to the bandit camp.  I might well have a go at the TotSC areas and a couple of mods I've got installed as well.  Current levels are:
Paragon, Fighter 5 / Illusionist 4, 35 HPs
Exos, Wizard Slayer 6, 69 HPs
Avaunt, Fighter 5 / Cleric 5, 47 HPs
Jack, Fighter 5 / Thief 5, 44 HPs
Exhorter, Bladesinger 6, 42 HPs
Arcana, Sorceror 6, 19 HPs

A few of the highlights so far:
- thought I would show this.  It's only relatively recently that I've got into the habit of disarming the first trap at the end of the Nashkel mines from behind.  Doing it from the other side you have to be very precise about positioning to avoid setting it off.
- the Amazon ambush was potentially dangerous because of the 2 invisible thieves (able to one-shot Paragon with a backstab).  To counter this Paragon immediately used an invisibility potion and sat out the combat.  The first thief killed Arcana (apart from a couple for Exos she's the only party member to be killed so far), but Telka missed with her backstab and is about to get creamed.
- for a party Molkar's ambush is less dangerous.  The mage managed to sleep a couple of the party, but there was virtually no damage done.
- in the basilisk area Exos soloed the basilisks with the use of a green scroll.  Everyone joined in the fun against the party there, although the fight was rendered trivial by the first use of a web spell.
- about the only potentially dangerous moment for Paragon was during an ambush.  The party was focusing on a vampiric wolf and didn't notice an ankheg hiding underground.  If it had been feeling mean it would have had the chance to spit at Paragon with a chance of one-shotting him.  However, it chose to come straight in to melee - allowing Exhorter to keep moving away every time it surfaced until the others could finish the wolf off and shoot the ankheg up.
- the red wizards were another potentially dangerous encounter rendered easy by advance spells.  Jack stealthed to scout out the territory and guide in first silence and then web spells.  None of the wizards got a spell off (apart from their auto-buffs).
- a recent victim was Kahrk.  I was pleased to be able to manage this without casualties.  Initially the sorceror and Paragon hid well away, while Avaunt attracted Kahrk's attention.  With good saves and reasonable HPs Avaunt was the best placed to survive against Kahrk until his buffs died down a bit and he did so successfully.  Once the main spells had gone Avaunt and Exos took it in turns to attack Kahrk to prevent him focusing on one of the weaker characters (he was permanently hasted so still a dangerous fighter).  They went through about a dozen healing potions before Kahrk eventually ran out of stoneskins.

Weavel, TN human male shapeshifter. Travelling with Imoen,Minsc, Viconia and Jaheira.

The bandit camp.
I take a few arrows and sword cuts to start with, so decide to rest before reaching Ardenor Crush. He forces me to step back, but fails to survive a doom command combination. We rest again.

We buff to fight the remaining bandits, and doom command command Taugosz Khosann. Another rest allows Viconia to memorise protection from fear, then we buff and head inside the bandit tent.

Minsc has traded places with Imoen, and equipped a sword to prod at Raemon while I move towards Venkt. Jaheira quickly dooms Venkt before Viconia cranks the volume down.
Posted Image

I switch from Venkt to Hakt as Imoen kills Raemon. Minsc chunks Britik, Viconia drops a scared Hakt and Venkt must surely die. We cut through his mirror images, then he puts up a valiant fight. Our silence wears off and he casts horror. Unbelievable, how did he manage that when his three armoured companions fell like leaves in the wind. We're protected though, and kill him before his next spell can be cast.

Back in Beregost we agree to help Garrick. His employer is not our kind of person though, attacking us when we refuse to act as hired killers. I'm in human form so doom her before shifting, but Imoen has already killed this aspiring thespian.

I purchase the dagger of venom for Jaheira, realising our reputation heroic, 18 is at the point where Viconia could stalk off. We head to Feldeposts to consider our options, only for Imoen to try and steal a cloak from Algernon. She is no good at this type of thieving so he notices and becomes hostile. We kill him and our reputation is dropped average, 9.

We take advantage of this by helping Mirianne. Landrin is less complimentary as we forgot to pick up the spider corpse; it has been eaten by the time we return.

Off to the coast then, retrieving a magical tome. On our return we dispose of Zargal and his hobgoblins, then decide to help a chicken called Melicamp. This doesn't work out for the best so we return to Beregost.

Karlat is the next assassin to cross our path and earns a good chunking. On to Firewine ruins, where Meilum is doomed but refuses to be commanded. I have to run while Minsc is left to kill him with arrows.

We help Shoal the nereid even though she temporarily kills Imoen. Droth the ogre mage sends me to sleep but Jaheira has doomed him and Viconia commands him. He is tough though, getting to his feet until she commands him again. We have to fight wolves and a ghast as we leave, Minsc being struck by lightning too.

Cloakwood. We quickly liberate a cloak from some tasloi before helping Aldeth Sashenstar. Jaheira messes up doom on Seniyad I clicked attack thinking her spell had cast but instead it was auto-pause on shapeshift but Viconia still manages to command him and his lightning spell never completes.

Imoen has been spreading her skills around too much and is unable to detect the first trap in the next section of Cloakwood. She is held as a huge spider closes in on her and can only gulp as doom command work so Minsc can kill it with arrows.

She removes a second trap and retreats as three ettercaps follow. I'm too tough for them, but the next two poison me. Viconia stops that, and Jaheira heals me as Minsc and I finish the battle.

Imoen removes two more traps and we head west to a strange abode. We kill a few spiders without incident, then two more and a pair of ettercaps join in. I have to glug a green potion, while Jaheira and Viconia doom the ettercaps. Viconia commands them and the battle is ours. We return the body of Chelak to Tiber and continue further into Cloakwood.

I don't fancy tangling with the druids here, nor does Jaheira so we press further into Cloakwood until we encounter a hamadryad. Viconia has already summoned some skeletons so we wait until they have killed her.

Have noticed Minsc, Imoen, Jaheira and Viconia don't have consistent stats. Oh well, forgot to add that game tweak.

Update on Mrtyudasa, and his unfortunate followers:

Clearing upper level was easy enough, with Imoen having find traps skill at 100%  and Coran dropping ghasts in two shots. Fight with Kirinhale could be problematic as she managed to survive the first volley of missles and managed to cast charm on Coran. He saved, though, and fight ended quickly.

But the true challange awaited below. Imoen received protecion from electricity from Tiax and protection from fire from a scroll, just in case. Especially protection from fire proved useful, as she got careless and stepped through a secret passage immediately after opening it, A fireball exploded, dealing only minor damage to her. Unfortunately, Coran didn’t follow a secund rule of a dungeon crawler, which is: ‘Stay away from the trap detector’. He had no protection, failed a save and received 35 damage. But he survived.

Posted Image

Eldoth was also a step from dying. His invisibillity run out (it doesn’t last 24 hours despite description), when Coran attacked a phase spider. Spider teleported himself near the bard, interrupted his casting and poisoned him. As I wanted him to have two wands ready, his antidotes were not on his belt. When I enetered inventory screen I discovered that they were gone – I have misplaced them during one of the inventory management sessions. Finally, Eldoth was saved by Tiax’s Slow Poison. Eldoth’s lack of invisibillity was also a problem during the final fight on level one (party didn’t retreat to rest). He cast haste on the party and put himself far from the center (but not far enough, as it turned out). While the rest of the team hid in shadows, Coran approached Love, triggering the battle. Then, he quickly run away and him himself too. Meanwhile, cloudkill caused some dissension between the enemies.

Posted Image

Coran thought it would be a good idea to shoot them, while they were fighting among themsleves. But as soon as the first arrow was fired, Fear, Pride and Avarice went after him. He run away and hid again, but they spotted Eldoth. Bard had run away, loosing Fear on the way, but Pride and Avarice kept going. Coran managed to get Avarice’s attention, and felled him with help of Mrtyudasa’s backstab. After running through about half of the level, Eldoth managed to outrun Pride and then it was a simple matter of chunking him with multiple backstab attack (Pride, not Eldoth). Then, party returned to the center of the level and backstabbed Love. Only then they realised that Fear was missing. It took some time to locate and backstab him too.

After taking rest upstairs (and stashing some loot) party went on to the second level. In the beginning most of the party stayed near the entrance, while Imoen and Coran scouted nearby rooms. They managed to avoid every cloud and fireball attack, vacating the rooms on time. As the trap in the corridor on the right didn’t looked disarmable, party moved to the left. Two greater doppelgangers were following the rogues despite them being invisible, so they backstabbed them. Both survived, but spent the rest of their lives trying to heal their wounds.

None of the party members were capable of tanking dwarven doom guards so the plan was to get them separated and then backstab them one by one. The last two continued to stick together and had to be attacked simultaneously. One survived and nearly killed Mrtyudasa, as he found himself trapped between his companions.

Party tried to retreat to get some rest, but the doors were closed, so they risked resting near the stairs to the third level. Nothing attacked them.

Down on third level, party turned right and shot some wiverns, using statues as tanks. Then they sent Imoen to clear the middle way. With scroll of protection from undead it wasn’t too hard. Skeletons had some arrows of dispelling and lots of acid arrows, so it was worth the trouble.

In the ice cave things didn’t look nice, so party sent Coran to assassinate the bear. He found a good spot and fired a dispelling arrow, hoping to slow the bear down, so that he could kill him with acid arrows. I forgot that this  bear had a ranged attack. Despite high AC versus missles, Coran got hit, failed his save and was paralyzed.

Posted Image

Party charged to save him, but bear continued his attack on Coran and killed him right before 3 fireballs (from necklaces of missles) exploded, ending the fight.

Posted Image

Posted Image

With Coran dead things were about to get difficult. He did most of the party killings, often soloing (Boots of Speed do that to people). Mrtyudasa took the boots, assuming the role of the lead assassin, while Tiax got the Mithrill Chain Mail and Helm of Balduran. When party tried to enter the slime cavern game crashed and I had to replay the whole level. I didn’t want to take an advantge of the crash and reenacted Coran’s death as best as I could.

Slime didn’t cause any trouble. ‘Air Aspect’ looked like a nasty piece of wivern (even if somewhat small), so Mrtyudasa and Tiax used scrolls to protect themselves from poison. Plan was to use Tiax as a tank, while others did the backstabbing, running outside, hiding and returning if needed. It was needed. Moreover, Skie got too close and was targeted. While escaping, she alarmed some invisible stalkers, and Imoen had to hold them off. Meanwhile, Tiax got badly wounded, panicked and died. And thus, party have been cleared of any non-rogue elements.

Posted Image

Mrtyudasa, Skie and Eldoth escaped, leaving Imoen behind. But she was properly equiped and drunk an invisibillity potion. Party sneaked backed, and together managed to finish the wyvern with backstabs. Then, they run away from stalkers and hid in shadows. Upon their return they found out that the stalkers did the same and were nowhere to be seen. Mrtyudasa cast a fiery detection spell, but it wasn’t enough to make the enemies visible enough to be backstabbed. So, Eldoth used a wand to summon some gnolls. When stalkers were dead, party deided to carry some of the items upstairs, to stash them in some chest. Way to the first level was still closed, so they had to carry on. Back in the third level game crashed again, when loading the fire cavern, but this time there wasn’t much to replay (only some inventory management).

Phoenix Guardian had to be killed before she raised her, party had been told. And that was exactly that, what they liked best. But the Guardian just couldn’t stay in one place and with only four of them, they had trouble immobilizing her. Finally it was she, who attacked first as Mrtyudasa became visible before actually striking (should have used invisibillity on the whle party). Explosion didn’t kill anyone, as everyone had some sort of protection, but it became very crowded. Imoen got surrounded, but she quickly killed one of the enemies and broke free.

Posted Image

After successful retreat, Mrtyudasa and Imoen sneaked back to try assassination once again. Appareantly, 13 damage was all that was needed (Guardian turned at the last moment, avoiding backstab). Surprisingly, the game of chess did not begin. Only now, looking at the screenshots, I see that going after the Guardian with the bow, party passed by another, a swordmen. I probably had kill both of them to progress. Anyway, Mrtyudasa started assassinating the Guardians, until they all panicked, which made killing them much easier. Finally, he must have killed the right one, and the game begun. Mrtyudasa decided that with no pawns, rooks or knights, the game is just not fair. So, the party drunk potions of absorption and started merrily running up and down the chessboard (while remaining stealthed or otherwise invisible, that is).

Posted Image

It was fun – especially when one of the pawns had panicked and got promoted to a queen – but when Imoen have failed her stealth roll, Mrtyudasa had to end the game with a checkmate.

Posted Image

After reaching the third level party agreed to Islanne’s offer and were teleported outside. They drunk themsleves dead in Nashkel, burried their dead beside Montaron and went to Baldur’s Gate to welcome Safana back. Also, they recruited Alora, the halfling thief encountered while robbing the Hall of Wonders. She had level 6, low stealth skill (so had to wear Shadow Armor) and only two proficiency points – bows and missles. She wasn’t suited for backstabbing, so I equipped her with a sling +1 and darts of stunning. She also took Kiel’s Buckler, which gave her minor increase in stealth. Safana took Crossbow of Speed as before, so Skie had to take a simple shortbow.

Party status:
Mrtyudasa – thief 10, 54 HP
Imoen – thief 10, 64 HP
Skie – thief 9, 42 HP
Safana –thief 7, 26 HP
Alora – thief 6, 19 HP [!]
Eldoth – bard 9, 53 HP

I've done that so many times, usually by "thinking ahead" to what I'm doing next, or resting and it then it decays.

I've just started playing as Shairazad, a solo female elven priest of Talos, with BGT and SCSI. She reached level 7 right now.

Here's her charscreen and inventory.

So far, she killed Firebeard (level3), did all the minor candlekeep quests, defeated Shoal, some spiders, Tarnesh, Neira, Teyngan, half-ogres, Bassilus, sirens on both maps and some more minor things like the belt ogre, Perdues sword, flamedance ring, letter for Mirianne, the ankheg lair, the priestress of Umberlee, killing Dushai (when buying greenstone amulet + cloak of displacement), flesh golem cave etc.

Only used one greenstone amulet charge so far. However, I obviously was too stupid to start with 9 int, so I can't use green scrolls/wand of heavens until I get to Baldur's Gate. Should have rerolled to get this one additional point.

I mostly use sanctuary to avoid pointless fights, doom, command, silence and hold person to disable powerful enemies, remove fear and duhm to buff myself, lightning bolt and drain life if I don't hit a target, skeletons for pretty much everything and I will start experimenting with some different level 4 spells.

Sargiel - Gnome - LE - Illusionist - Update 2

Hunting Bassilus

I actually clicked on this area by mistake, originally intending to head towards the gnoll stronghold. However now Bassilus was found the group went for him. Kagain charged directly at him with Sargiel and Montaron flanking to offer support. This proved to be an awkward battle with Kagain quickly afflicted by a Confusion spell. Fortunately he just wondered off and stood for the duration rather than attacking the rest of the party. After some other aborted spells Bassilus managed to get of an entangle spell and then rushed to engage Montaron in melee. Drawing his shortsword the halfling faced the challenge and slew Bassilus with help from Sargiel.

The hobgoblins were easily slain with the help of a sleep spell from Sargiel - although Montaron was poisoned. The rest of the map was cleared without much trouble - and the chicken rescued :)

High Hedge

Melicamp was actually successfully transformed (twice in a row now as this was the case on my last run .. normally I find it doesn't work!) and Perdue's short sword liberated. The map was cleared of all threats excepting those around the hunters lodge .. This is where it all started going wrong! :D

Posted Image

Montaron drew out one of the ghouls and was dispatching him from a distance.. but I didn't notice the others had also come out and had paralysed Kagain .. In trying to save him from their claws I managed to get both Kagain and Montaron killed before Sargiel finished dispatching the creatures.

This now left me with a problem.. How to save all the armour etc from the other two characters with a Str 8 ?!!? I was worried if I left the area then came back perhaps the equipment would disappear.. Luckily it was High Hedge so I was able to buy a Potion of Strength and use that to carry the armour, axe, boots etc. It still meant leaving a fair amount of mundane equipment and loot - but at least I had all the essentials with me.

And so .. 1200 gold lighter Kagain and Montaron are back and the party is ready to head to Beregost for rest and refitting :)

Weavel, TN human male shapeshifter. Travelling with Imoen,Minsc, Viconia and Jaheira.

As we reach Cloakwood mine Minsc asks why I'm still carrying Chelak. Sixteen hours and one wyvern ambush later (ran away from the wyverns) we are finally at Cloakwood mine. Minsc has taken the lead and is calling Drasus mouthy, so I prepare for a fair fight. We cast doom, silence and insect summons as Minsc gets carried away but still drops Kysus.
Posted Image

Drasus, Genthore and Rezdan are all doomed so I cast AoF and shapeshift. Jaheira kills Rezdan while Viconia holds Drasus. Minsc returns to finish him off while Genthore gets up from a command, only for Viconia to command him again.

Into the mine. Imoen removes a pair of traps and lays one of her own. Minsc storms ahead while I cast innate horror despite being shapeshifted. Viconia has cast silence too so we set to work.
Posted Image

I take a poison arrow as the last guard dies, but Viconia quickly cures the poison. We rest under skeletal guard, repeating this after killing the guards at the next level. We kill the last guard and Imoen removes some more traps.

Viconia sends two skeletons to Davaeorn, forcing a lightning bolt and a fireball. Imoen scouts around but fails to hide and is dire charmed. She recovers and beats a hold person enchantment. A backstab drops one mirror image and he is out of spells, so we rush to her assistance.

Once the mine is flooded we return to Beregost where our inventory is reviewed.

If you put equipment into a container it won't decay.  There are containers of one sort or another on nearly all the maps (including holes in ground, rocks, trees etc).  At High Hedge for instance you could use the chest in the house.

Hmm I did wonder about that. Unfortunately the chest in the hut couldn't be opened even by the imp shape-shifted into an ogre. And even if I had opened it I'd have worried it wouldn't work - of course I know different now. Thanks :)

Detman the solo level 8 Undead Hunter adventure continues...

We we last heard from Detman he was working his way through the Cloakwood Mines. As it turned out Heirashan and her friends were taken down by 3 charges of necklace of missiles, it wasn't even necessary to buff.
Posted Image

Detman then battled his way to Davaeorn's level. I was very worried about the battle horrors, I am not sure if it requires +2 to hit them or not, or do they just have really high AC. In any case, I buffed with a strength potion, potion of power, potion of insulation, and hoped it was enough. Detman did take a beating, but he was able to whittle down the battle horrors dead with his spider's bane.

Detman was running out of heal potions (read: none), but no way he's going all the way back, so he engaged Davaeorn -- was low health but Davaoern did fall. Of course with no heal potions Detman lef the nearby chests guarded by the jelly alone. Detman was glad to leave the cloakwood.

Next up was the City of Baldur's Gate. Seeing that' he's at his cap, there was actually very little he did here. He recovered the dead boy in Umberlee's Temple for the Priest of Tymora, killed Razamith for his ring, and recovered the helm of balduran. Detman realized he needed the Moutain Mauler's +2 axe, so he engaged them. His only buffs were two potions of magic shielding (not at once of course), otherwise he just meleed them dead - his -8 AC plus -11 bonus AC to missiles am sure helped.

Time to get the main story going. How to deal with the 5th floor of the Iron Throne? Decided to get some INT potions from FAI so that he could use the scroll of magic protection, then Detman just meleed them all dead -- it was an amusing image to me.

Time to go to Candlekeep. I didn't do anything in the library, not even looting except he did rest until he got his Bhaal power (DUHM). In the crypts he buffed with protection against fire and lightning and triggered the traps. He used ring of free action to deal with the spiders and a strength potion to bust the crypts open for his tomes.

Then he used invisibility to get just before Prat's group. Normally solo I ignore Prat's group but I need his throwing axe. So buffed with haste and heroism and of course greenstone amulet and protection from evil. He moved up, fired a couple shots from his necklace of missiles, then killed the survivors with his throwing axes. Very smooth
Potion of mirror eyes and Prat's throwing axe used against the baslisks.

Time to get back to Baldur's Gate. Traveling through sewers, he got to the Iron Throne building and had to dealw ith Cythrandria. The most important potion was potion of absorption which put his blunt AC at -19 -- after killing the ogres, a few throws of his throwing axe finished Cythrandria. She did some nice damage to Detman.

As for Slythe, Detman used a dispelling arrow, bakced off then was simple to melee Sythe down to nothing after that. Thanks to backing up, Krystin was out of range so didn't deal with her at all.

Had to make a stop at Sorcerous Sundries for haste potion, STR 23 potion, and heroism. Detman then went to the Palace to stop Sarevok. He managed to kill all the dopplegangers before they could kill either Belt or Lia, though he took a lot of damage. A single doppleganger was running around in fear (his morale broke), Detman used the chance to heal up via potions. Then he used a single throw of his axe to finish it, and attacked Sarevok. After a very short while, Sarevok had enough.

The endgame's in sight...

Detman the solo level 8 Undead Hunter - FINAL update

Here is Detman's prep for the thieve's maze and Sarevok:
Posted Image

The plan was to use the potions of genius so I could use the scroll of magic protection and invisibility potion and just run to the Bhaal Temple...however in EasyTutu the intelligence potions do NOT stack! Grrr...so had to take a stop at FAI to get a single potion of mind focusing and potion of genius then return. Using potion of mind focusing and then genius, finally could do my plan and ran all the way to the Undercity Temple of Bhaal.

I rested (to get rid of the scroll of magic protection) then entered the temple. I used all the potions you saw earlier plus also protection from evil and DUHM (which put my strength to 25). The key buff is the TWO potions of magic protection at the end, which put my magic resistance to 100% -- this way I can ignore Angelo/Semaj and strictly concentrate on Sarevok.

Time for the showdown:
Detman creeped to the left and fired a dispelling arrow at Sarevok. It didnt take so had to shoot another and the 2nd arrow removed his haste. Detman was hit with a stinking cloud but thanks to his magic resistance it didn't hurt him. Detman then backed off to the lower right corner of the Temple. He fired two arrows of biting at Sarevok (which hit, though I think he saved vs. death).

Then a huge party converged on Detman -- Tazok started meleeing, Semaj starting casting (which at most can only hurt Sarevok), and Angelo started firing his arrows of detonation. What's funny is with my 130% fire resistance, Angelo was HEALING me and hurting Sarevok -- good deal!

In any case, Sarevok and Detman, using his spider's bane,  traded blows -- Detman took some damage to be sure, then success!

As this is a trilogy no-reload, he will continue to BG 2. This is my first solo of EasyTutu. This is also my first solo run with a fighter type that did NOT use arrows of detonation at all. He WILL be using a party in BG 2. At least this time, being an undead hunter, those shadow fiends can't hold him like they did with my last character Core - hah!
