I've seen original BG 1 done in 45 minutes with a bard. And the time included character creation. But there were a few moments which depended only on luck (like approaching the bandit leader in Larswood, hoping not to get shot on the way). And some bug, which allowed skipping Iron Throne HQ.

Is entering Larswood even necessary? Perhaps for the original BG1 and not BG1+TSC? I never enter Larswood in my runs anymore. I go straight to the Bandit Camp ready to rock and roll.

Good point. I think it would be much safer, as there are not so many bandits near the main tent. But I guess going through Larswood saved some time that would be spent on walking.

I opened with a fireball but it did nothing -- maybe Daveorn has MGoI up?

I think he starts with Mirror Image and Protection from Normal Missiles. And Mirror Image protects from Fireballs too. That spell was really great in BG 1.

Update on Ayakanya:

Party finally reached the Gnoll Stronghold. In the final battle Idiot was berserking together with Pinky. Before all the gnolls were dead they turned on each other. "For the glory of Helm!" screamed Pinky. "Go for the eyes Boo! Go for the eyes!" – roared Idiot. Pinky took a hit, regained his senses, and run away for Branwen’s healing. When the gnolls were dead bersekers were figthing once, but again both survived, in part thanks to Branwen healing intervention.

Posted Image

Dynaheir joined the party at level 2 with 11 HP. Pinky increased his charisma to 18 and party went north to get the Boots of the North. Pinky have fallen just before the bear (and also just before Branwen finished her healing).

Posted Image

Party went back to the temple. Ajantis had it right after all – they really "follow a path of Helm". In a way. But before they reached the temple they were waylaid by a mountain bear. Everyone was invisible and no one was berserking, but still – it would be a shame to walk away from 900 exp. Branwen managed to command him to lie down, but when he got up he was still almost dead, and "almost" makes a huge difference. Ayakanya tried casting Sleep (but such a bear have probably more then 4 levels, so it wasn’t a good idea) and got two wild surges – one made her glow in many colours (which wasn’t so bad), while the second entangled Mutalisk (which was quite tragic). As with Pinky, familiar died rigtht before the bear.

Posted Image

Back in Nashkel Pinky was resurrected and a new Mutalisk summoned. This time Ayakanya will be more careful – she had only one constitution point to lose. New Mutalisk will remain invisible all the time. Pinky didn’t equip the cursed sword this time, as party was heading to the mines and I wanted them to sneak. With help of Mutalisk they reached Mulahey without any confrontation. They surrounded him and started pounding. His kobold reeinforcements were easily held off by Ayakanya’s Sleep (and sleeping kobolds blocked the skeletons). Mulahey died without even trying to fight back – it seems that even in SCS he has to walk over to the middle of the cave before taking any hostile action.

Posted Image

Party rested, Mutalisk cast Invisibility again, and they safely left the mines, grabbing a free dagger+2 for Imoen on the way to Nashkel. Imoen reached level 4 and dualed to mage (No backstabbing in this game. Can I live with that?). Ayakanya isn’t as lucky as Asati was and rolled 1 for HP on level 3, same as level before. After killing Greywolf (Doom and Command as usual) and some winter ones party went to Carnival to get something to wear for mages (by killing one of them, of course). Zordral cast Sleep, incapacitating everyone in the tent. Good thing that Ayakanya stayed outside (and invisible, too). Mage killed Pinky and Branwen, and then he just walked outside. His reaction was so fast, that the rest of the party didn’t even break their invisibillity and were safe in their sleep. When they have woken they followed him and attacked. But Zordral had another Sleep up his sleeve. Only this time Dynaheir escaped it’s effect and retaliated with Magic Missiles and a sling. He charmed her and killed Minsc. Charm have worn off and she attacked again. He charmed her again and killed Imoen (charming, really). Finally Dynaheir have bested him. What of Ayakanya, you might ask – well, she just watched and cheered for Dynaheir (better safe then sorry). This time resurrection was rather costly – 1800 in total. They should really get some group discount.

Party went to help Samuel and kill another Flaming Fist mercenary. I was really surprised by the reputaion loss (-9, from 18) – it was self-defense, after all. Turned out it would much cheaper to just buy this plate mail. Nashkel Helm’s temple is really making a killing lately. After delivering Samuel, party went to Beregost to deal with Tranzig. I knew that had 2 Sleep spells, so the plan was to use Minsc’s berserk. But before that, I wanted Tranzig to kill Algernon. Ayakanya managed to charm the latter in a first try (with no wild surges involved). Dynaheir was to lead him to Tranzig. Mage put both of them to sleep and charged at Dynaheir, completely ignoring Algernon. Minsc had to intervene and, luckily, managed to kill Tranzig without slaughtering any bystanders (but it took him some time and the mage finished Dynaheir). So, charisma of 20 had to acquired otherwise – Friends for Imoen. On their way to Thalantyr party went to fetch Melicamp. Sad to say, but he was chunked by berserking paladin. Reputation –10. For a chicken!. Why should anyone care? Next time they’ll probably want to hang the whole party for killing the villians responsible for all those bandits and iron shortage.

After donating some money to the temple, party went to Thalantyr to buy some scrolls (not only Friends, Ayakanya needed something for level 2, as Dynaheir took Web). During a skirmish with some skeletons Pinky attacked Idiot, which ended with both of them killed by nearby black bears. Imoen learned Friends and Ayakanya Horror, Invisibility, Skull Trap and Flame Arrow. After another visit to the temple party went hunting for the final 2 reputaion points. Killing Lathander’s temple’s competition was first on the list. Two berserkers were charged with the deed. I soon learned that bereserk caused by the cursed sword does not protect from Hold Person. Then I learned that Bassilus’ casting is uninterruptable, and, finally, I found out that playing a good aligned party is far from good in some cases, as evidenced below:

Posted Image

This Unholy Blight is fierce. Time had come for plan B – Web, Doom, Web, Hold Person and dual sling (Branwen and Dynaheir). I decided that Imoen and Ayakanya need slings too – darts don’t have long enough range to be safely used with Web (and THAC0 don’t matter anyway).

Then, there was an unfortunate incident with a dread wolf – Pinky attacked Idiot instead of the wolf, and, while they were running in circles, the beast nearly killed some of the ladies. But finally the paladin killed the ranger and charged to hack at the damsels’ distress.

Posted Image

After another visit to the temple party went south, killed some half-ogres for a two-handed sword +1 for Minsc (but he still uses his maces in some cases, mostly against sleeping opponents), and attempted to rescue a cow. They failed, even though Pinky was left behind. They had find their reputation point elsewhere. Killing some other half-ogres would do the trick (and also yield a medium shield +1), but assassins intervened when Pinky had only one left to kill. Again, Unholy Blight killed him, but also saved him – if the second backstab had connected there wouldn’t be much to resurrect:

Posted Image

Rest of the party was invisible, as they didn’t want to distract Pinky from his ogre slashing duties. Minsc picked up paladin’s equipment and retreated with the rest. But the assassins kept following them (now I know that ‘better calls for help’ are not to blame for this). I decided to use this bug against them and lured them towards Drizzt. Someone had to become visible to talk to him – Branwen was chosen, as she had the most HP. Unfortunately, Drizzt ignored every non-gnoll enemy, and party had to retreat with Pinky unavenged.

I just counted 15 deaths. And it’s only chapter 3.

Party status:
Ayakanya – wild mage 4, 21 HP, fav. spell: Cure Light Wounds, again
Ajantis, aka Pinky – paladin 4, 31 HP
Minsc, aka Idiot – ranger 3, 18 HP (I think I always have bad HP rolls with him)
Branwen – cleric 4, 32 HP
Imoen – thief 4/mage 3, 25 HP, fav. spell: Sleep
Dynaheir – mage 3, 14 HP, fav. spell: Magic Missile

There are some amazing times for the game.  I don't know if I could make it to Nashkel in 26 minutes...

I'll post an update for James probably this weekend.  He failed his first Horror spell and I'm still not sure how the optimistic Paladin is going to take it...

Corey, 53330xp before the final battle, level 6 stalker, 88310 at the end. Congrats on your victory.
Belgarath, I expected I wasn't even close. Some of those speed runs must be amazing.
Blackmalkin. I know, I know but a) the other 3 were asking for it! B) easier to hide from 1 enemy.
Grond0, well done. I started a monk last night but doubt 1h30 is in his grasp.
& he's out, no sign of Nimbul or Tranzig despite a reward from Berrun Ghastkill and so no way to reach the bandit camp.

Edit, & a wrap-up to get Tunner into SOA.

Tunner, LG male elf stalker. Roll of 100, hence the name.

Str 18/nn (19 with tome, didn't pay attention earlier)
Dex 19 (20 with tome)
Con 17 (now 18)
Int 11 (now 12)
Wis 17 (18 with one tome, not bothering with other two)
Cha 18 (now 19)

With Sarevok dead I can take my time. I use the remaining buff time to eliminate Rahvin and his gang then retreat through the thieves maze to do some shopping.

Tomes (bodily health, leadership, intelligence), golden pantaloons and the helm of Balduran are obtained. A magical ring (protection +2) is thrown in and Belt sends me on a trip to Amn.

Thanks for the congratulations all, it was a fun run.
@Blackmalkin: that's quite a story you getting there with those two berserkers - the temples must be making a killing! Hopefully you get a bunch of winter wolf pelts to off-set your costs...your adventure is interesting, at least, if not efficient...

I hate to think how many thousands of stat rolls I've done for this game, but I've never got 3 figures.  Hope you look after him!

I'm not continuing with Shorty as he was always intended just for BG1.  Instead I'll have another go at seeing if I can get a kensai far enough to dual to a thief in BG2.  Here's his starting record:

I did. Although the shopkeeper in Nashkel buys only one now, I found out that officer Vai pays not only for bandit skalps, but also wolf pelts. Full price -- 500. And prices do not deteriorate, like with Thalantyr.

Try to survive long enough to get some HLAs ok Grond0? I'll try to do the same for Picenon...you get so many characters with cool dual possibilities, would like to see one bloom! I know you have your difficulty mods so the odds aren't good, but here's hoping...

I'll try - I feel like I'm due for a good run in BG2 so the aim is to get through BG1 quickly and move on to the greater challenges in Amn.

Kami is underway - progress so far:
- killing Shoal got Kami 20 more HPs and grand mastery of katanas. There are not a lot of those in my game, so I'm hoping that they don't break too often.
- Noober, a baby wyvern, Neira (took quite a while with non-proficient throwing axes), belt ogre and Marl provided 5 more HPs and he celebrated by killing Algernon and then taking his first rest since Candlekeep.
- Zhurlong's boots, Karlat, slime quest, Perdue's sword, Landrin's spiders, Tarnesh, Hulrik's cow, Bentan, Poe, Meilum (got a katana for the first time!) and Zordral got him 6 more HPs.

Only incident of note so far was when I thought Zordral would be out of spells, but he found a charm person to throw at Kami - who countered with the potion of clarity from Candlekeep.

Kami just died in a silly way. Taking on the basilisks he'd killed all the separate ones solo and then recruited Korax to attack Mutamin. He failed so Kami used a scroll of magic protection to defend against Mutamin - forgetting that this would cancel his protection from petrification scroll!

I'll try again ...

Thanks ussnorway. I'll try and resist my normal instincts and make this a chanceless run.

Underway again. Shoal has just provided Kami with his first 2 levels - 17 extra HPs.

Edit: grrr.  A soldier blocked the doorway when fighting Neira exposing Kami to a hold person.  I'll have one more try later and give up if that one fails.

Yikes! Not the greatest results for your runs there, Grond0. I like potions of magic protection or magic shielding against Mutamin - though if you are a thief, you can always do what Picenon did -- fireballs-from-the-shadows!

I've rolled some high stats over the years but not sure I've seen a 100+ before. Elf ranger has some high minimums that will have helped, and looking forward to a stalking through a fair bit of BG2.

Solo kensai is tough in BG1, may have to try that again to see how recent encounters will help my approach.

Wild mage and her berserkers continue their adventure:

After the encounter with assassins party went to the southern areas to hunt some more winter wolves. I started marking the spawn points on the map, to make further hunts easier. When party stopped at the Carnival to rest, they were attacked by another band of assassins. Pinky went berserk immediately and attacked Ayakanya. She wasn’t happy with that, so she kicked him out of the party and escaped with the rest.

Posted Image

In the mines location Mutalisk cast Invisibillity and party returned to Carnival, grabbed Pinky and escaped once more. Again they reentered Carnival from the south. Pinky was sent away and Dynaheir started weaving her Webs. Enemies run right into them, but party didn’t have enough firepower to kill them all before Webs expired (only Molkar and his cleric). Mage put Idiot to sleep, but was was soon lying on the ground himself and died rather fast. The dwarf was defeated in the duel with Pinky. Well, it wasn’t exactly a duel, as all the ladies were shooting him in the back, but it can be safely stated that he was facing only one opponent.

After this victory Ayakanya decided to kill the previous assailants. Party entered Drizzt area from the north. While Pinky finished the last remaining half-ogre, Dynaheir cast 3 Webs and Imoen the same amount of Grease. Killing most of the enemies was easy, but Telka was still invisible and party had no way of detecting her. So, Branwen had to take the backstab. Waiting for Telka to come, she cast Aid and Chant. Finally, the dreaded backstab came... and dealt only 3 damage.

Posted Image

Branwen leveled up and gained abillity to cast third level spells. Now she always have one Remove Curse ready, which makes managing Pinky much easier. Party finally reached 20 reputation and, with Imoen’s Friends casting, bought a full plate mail for Pinky. Then they finished clearing southern locations (either with berserking paladin or multiple Webs and ranged attacks). Imoen learned Strenght and uses it to enhance Pinky’s and Idiot’s berserking prowess. In the meantime I have noticed that Cursed Sword of Berserking +3 actually gives +5 to hit (I’m not sure about the damage).

While visiting Thalantyr, some lone skeleton attacked party and Dynaheir felled him with Magic Missles. I didn’t even notice that Pinky had gone berserk. He was standing next do Dynaheir at that moment, and killed her in one blow before I reacted. Fortunately, Idiot didn’t try to avenge her (despite his cries) and only one corpse had to be brought to the temple.

Posted Image

Party decided to kill some basilisks. Pinky welcomed the chance to redeem himself and started hacking happily. For the fight with Mutamin some Webs were cast, but mage managed to break free and dispel Idiot’s Protection from Petrification. Soon after a greater basilisk also freed himself from the web and turned Minsc to stone. Pinky charged, finished Mutamin, and went after the basilisk. Turned out that this one was not only worth more experience the others, but was also stronger. Fortunately, poison tends to clear Pinky’s mind, allowing him to drink some potions. Finally, basilisk was dead and Ajantis stood redeemed. He now wears red and white, but the nickname name have sticked – it’s Pinky the Basilisk Slayer now, usually abbreviated to Pinky. After fetching a Stone to Flesh scroll from the temple, Kirian and her band was killed. There were some Webs involved, of course, and Imoen cast a lot of Grease. Seeing as this becomes one of her favourite spells, Pinky decided it would be fun to her Piggy. He changed his mind though, when he heard that one about ‘cutting him down to size’. No one dears to cast Stinking Cloud, even though some scrolls were found.

Assault on the Bandit Camp came next. Party got to the Camp through Larswood bandit leader and failed to kill Tazok. They didn’t want to fight him at all (and come back later with lots of Webs), but Pinky insisted, screaming ‘For Helm!’ and charging blindly as usual. Suspecting what might happen if any bandit is attacked Ayakanya positioned her party notrth of the main camp and fortified the position with Skull Traps (both her and Dynaheir had third level spells by then).

Posted Image

Somewhere during the casting (which took about a week, and included one wild success in 'bird magic') one of the bandits took a wrong step and died. Whole camp went to atack the party. Traps laid near the tent were enough, but some managed to approach using the northern path (where much fewer skulls were laid). First came Ardenor Crush with his lackeys. There were put to sleep and their leader quickly killed. Then some bandit archers and elite Black Talons came, but they were to few to be of any real threat to Idiot and Pinky. Now I can safely state that Bandit Camp is much easier with SCS installed.

Posted Image

After hunting some more winter wolves (this time leaving some Skull Traps in the spawn points), party journeyed to the coast locations. Minsc, buffed and equiped with the cursed sword, easily hacked sirines to pieces. For the flesh golems, sword was returned to Pinky (as he has more HP). After looting the cave (grimoire went to Pinky), party stayed for some time, killing the golems which kept spawning to interrupt their rest. Soon after, Droth and Shoal were killed too. Helm of Defense went to Pinky.

Back in civilization party killed Silke, left Pinky, and took Garrick to Ulgoth’s Beard. With a potion bard had pickpocketing skill at 105%, but he failed at stealing the Ring of Free Movement nonetheless. Ring was acquired in a more bloody way, but no reputation loss was suffered. After Garrick was kicked out, Pinky rejoined and equipped with the ring, party ventured into Cloakwood. They decided to help Aldeth. Seniyad and his druids were to busy to talk to Pinky, so he just killed them all.

Travelling through the forest was safe with all the party cloaked by Mutalisk’s Invisibillity. Spider area was cleared by berserking paladin. Items from the lair were recovered using Invisibillity, but I suddenly decided to get a little more heroic, and ordered two berserkers to charge inside (Minsc with Spider's Bane in hands). Party soon followed to aid them. In the heat of the battle Idiot attacked Pinky. Situation was resolved by Mutalisk, who cast Invisiblillity on both warriors. Unfortunately, some giant spider attacked Ayakanya. Dynaheir rescued her with Invisibillity and soon found herself webbed. Berserkers finished their spiders and Pinky rushed to help the ladies (Branwen was also webbed by then). Idiot wasn’t as chivalrous and attacked the paladin again. Pinky had only a few HP left and Minsc was dealing about 25–34 damage per hit, so Ayakanya had to finish Pinky with Magic Missles to prevent chunking. Rest of the spiders were killed without further casualties (though Idiot nearly killed Branwen before his berserk ended).

Posted Image

Party retreated from the forest to resurrect Pinky. Before their return, they decided to make a trip to Durlag’s Tower. With two free-moving berserkers and three Web casters, killing things started to get really easy. The main goal was to loot the first level. One of the skeleton warriors (paired with a normal one) was close to killing Pinky, so Branwen tried turning him, while arcane spellcasters focused fire and felled him. Branwen’s turning worked on the normal skeleton, who started running, with Pinky right behind him, of course. They were heading right into a nasty lightning trap – lightning as in Call Lightning (I know it well, as I once irreversibly lost Coran to it). Minsc tried to shot Pinky but missed. Spellcasters couldn’t catch up and Pinky was killed by the lightning, Fortunately, he only took 16 damage and body was still resurrectable.

When party returned from the temple, they decided to kill 2 greater doppelgangers that spawned in the courtyard (using Web and berserkers, same as with those, they encountered below). But I forgot about requipping Pinky with the ring, and about Minsc’s berserk. Idiot got charmed, Pinky webbed, and both died soon after. After retrieving/stashing items, resurrecting and reequipping, berserkers attacked again, at 4 greater doppelgangers this time. Once again I forgot about Idiot’s berserk. He got frightened and confused, but at least took some enemies off Pinky. When Ayakanya cast confusion, battle got very chaotic. Idiot was first to fall, then one of doppegangers, hacked by Pinky. One of the enemies was killed by his own, then Pinky felled another, and the final one was finished by the girls. Pinky was charmed through the whole battle, but berserk kept him swinging his sword in the right direction.

Dynaheir and Ayakanya left some Skull Traps in the spawn point (which yielded free 8000 exp. some time later) and went to finish looting the Durlag’s Tower's first level. Most important loot included plate mail +3 for Branwen and 2 arrows of dispelling. I wanted Idiot and Pinky to reach level 7 before going to the mines, so party hunted some wyverns and ankhegs. In the ankheg area Pinky tried to kill Gerde, but Branwen commanded him to lie down and think it through. When party traveled to Ulgoth’s Beard to buy Ring of Invisibillity, paladin killed some commoner, as the whole area was hostile due to failed stealing attempt. But party had left some good deeds undone and quickly regained maximum reputation. Every spellcaster gained fourth spell level by then. Imoen learned Emotion, Dynaheir Monster Summoning II and Minor Globe of Invulnerabillity, Ayakanya Malison, Improved Invisibillity and Confusion.

Finally, party arrived at the Cloakwood mines. Drassus and company were webbed (6 Webs in total) and hacked to pieces. Apart from the invisible mage, that is. No one had any detection spell ready, so party had to wait for him to appear. When he did, he managed to do some damage to Idiot and summon some phase spiders, but didn’t cause too much trouble. Branwen took the Boots of Speed.

Pinky had to part with his sword for a while, as party was going to sneak through the mines with Mutalisk’s help. When they reached Davaeorn’s lair, Pinky and Idiot got protected from fire and evil, then buffed with potions of heroism, cloud giant strenght and oils of speed. Some Webs were cast to incapacitate battle horrors. Invisible Pinky moved towards the enemy, while Minsc prepared arrows of dispelling. Idiot was going to wait for Davaeorn’s protections to kick in, shoot an arrow and join Pinky in berserking. But Davaeorn immediately cast Web and Stinking Cloud in Idiot’s direction (Sequencer, I think), so he had to grab Spiderbane and go berserk. Horrors were swiftly chunked and berserkers turned to Davaeorn. His spells were completely useless against them, so he teleported himself to attack rest of the party. But Idiot and Pinky were again upon him, before he managed to do any harm. Mage tried to run, but not fast enough. They quickly hacked through his Stoneskins and then his flesh. When Davaeorn’s bits where flying around, they engaged themselves in a little duel, but were not able to hit each other. Therefore, the fight was won without any damage taken by Ayakanya’s party.

Kami is well under way again and making good progress.  Shoal got him to level 3 and a few tasks in Beregost to level 4.  Encounters in Friendly Arm, Beregost and Nashkel + a side jaunt to Firewine Bridge to get Meilum's katana provided level 5 and revenge on Mutamin and the basilisks level 6.  Excellent HPs with 70 at 6th level.

I was a bit concerned that my approach to Mutamin

A couple of interesting approaches with the last posts (two berserk fighters and a wild mage has to deserve bonus points).

Blackmalkin: In my BGT install the cursed sword keeps a solo character berserk inside Centeol's lair even after everything is dead, and thus the game can't continue. Would have been interesting to see if the same happened to you with a party but the character death prevented that.

Kami completed the Nashkel mines without any problems, except that both of his katanas broke.  He purchased the second katana from the Thunder Hammer smithy, but that didn't last long either.  I was going to post that he won't be able to use katanas any more in BG1, but I suppose Krumm's weapon would always be a possibility:

Has anyone been brave enough to try and make use of this!

Kami undertook a number of reputation quests after resting to get his second Bhaal power and got reputation and charisma up to 20/20 before doing a bit of shopping.  Clearing the ankheg area on the way to Ulgoth's Beard (using Greywolf's sword) got him to level 7 and 7 more HPs.  In Ulgoth's Beard Dushai survived an initial face-off with the other gnome and Kami left him while he went to get the green amulet.  However, despite never having been in sight after Dushai turned hostile he still followed Kami into the inn.  It was lucky that Kami had just bought the green amulet (and cloak of displacement) a fraction before Dushai arrived to turn everyone hostile.

Kami has also just completed the bandit camp.  He started off there by sucking the bad guys into a corner and trying to catch them in repeated fireballs.  This is potentially risky in a no-reload, not only because of the number of arrows being fired at him at once, but also the danger of frying himself.  However, all the fireballs were well targeted - like this one.

He did have to retreat to heal once as the critical hits mounted up, but on his return Venkt was finished off with another fireball and then Taugouz recruited to deal with the stragglers.

Kami is still going, though he really doesn't deserve to be, and will shortly be taking on Sarevok.  A summary of his progress from the bandit camp is as follows:
- ran through the Cloakwood using ring of free action to evade spider problems.
- a fairly lengthy fight outside the mine.  He failed initially to charm Drasus or Genthore, but did charm Lakadar's guards and sent a stream of them in to soak up mage spells.  Eventually Rezdan was slightly separated from the others and was charmed.  He ended the worst of the resistance by successfully catching both Drasus and Genthore with emotion.
- in the city Kami picked up tomes for dexterity and intelligence as well as Balduran's helm.  I posted recently on the effectiveness of firebreath against stoneskinned mages.  Here's a working example against Ramazith, even from a character without stealth.
- at the Iron Throne Kami was very successful in drawing opponents away to take them on one by one.  Even when blinded he was still comfortable against most, but Zhalimar was proving a problem so he resorted to multiple fireballs at his own feet (with 90% resistance) to get rid of him.
- he looted the tombs under Candlekeep.  With protection from poison up the phase spiders were no threat anyway, but it was still amusing to feed them into the lightning trap.
- as Kami wanted Prat's throwing axe he took on the party there.  Fireballs into the area did some initial damage and he was able to finish off several opponents hand to hand.  The only one who wouldn't come out to play was Prat who, understandably, didn't want to waste his spells against someone with protection from magic up - as soon as that ended Prat showed himself.  Kami used a couple of potions of magic blocking to keep himself safe while finishing Prat off and then a potion of invisibility to get past the basilisks.
- before going back to the city Kami visited the pirate cave.  The green amulet provided protection against the sirene's dangerous abilities and being regularly blinded by fog didn't prevent Kami from beating them up.  He only killed the 2 golems in the cave that got in his way as he was already at the xp cap.  He also went on to quickly pick up the wisdom tome from Durlag's Tower.
- back in the city he went after the last wisdom tome as part of a reputation management strategy and then rested to get his final Bhaal power.
- Cythandria's golems were no match for Kami's offensive and defensive potion buffs, but Cythanria herself did better than I expected.  She did damage with a sunfire (which goes through magic blocking potion) and followed that up with a magic missile sequencer as the potion expired to leave Kami low on hits.  However, that was the high point for her and she didn't last much longer.
- for some odd reason I decided to give Slythe a fighting chance and took him on in a fair fight.  He hit more easily than I expected against AC -11 + girdle of piercing and Kami had to run round a couple of times while quaffing healing potions before eventually landing the killing blow.
- Kami was very lucky to survive the palace fight.  The initial idea was to use potion buffs + green amulet for protection and lead a couple of greater dopplegangers at a time up the stairs to get beaten up.  However, I was surprised when 5 of the dopplegangers immediately chased him.  I changed tactics and gave them a few shots with the necklace of missiles to soften them up, but overlooked the fact that without the green amulet on Kami was not protected against their confusion touch.  When he was confused my immediate reaction was to close the game down so as not to see his death.  However, fortunately I let it run.  2 of the dopplegangers had been lost in the shadows somewhere and the other 3 needed criticals to hit.  However, they got a lot of attacks in while the confusion lasted and Kami was lucky that only 2 of them hit - and even luckier that he saved against repeated confusion.  When he came back to his senses he was still in good fighting trim and had no more problems in finishing off the enemies.  Back downstairs the last doppleganger was feeling very lonely so Kami kindly sent him on to join his colleagues.
