He went invisible and using scroll magic protection through the maze and into the temple. Applying some potion buffs there he attracted Sarevok's attention with the necklace of missiles and commenced running round the room throwing fireballs at Sarevok. However, he was pretty resistant to those and about 15 fireballs later he was still only slightly injured.
Kami switched to his +2 throwing axe, but Sarevok was also resistant to that, with damage done only 4 or 5 even using storm giant strength. Eventually the scroll of magic protection wore off and Kami quickly reapplied it before the bad guys could catch up (Angelo and Sarevok were both hasted). However, this cancelled existing potion buffs and I realised I had forgotten to renew stocks of potions of speed. That meant that Sarevok and Angelo were now moving very slightly faster than Kami with his boots of speed.
The speed difference wasn't enough for them to hit unless I made a control error, but made it difficult to use a throwing axe. Hence from this point on the main source of damage was not directly from Kami, but rather from the skull traps he triggered when running round. The first to go down from these was Angelo, but Sarevok and Tazok followed together pretty quickly.
Not a very clean run for Kami, but I suppose it's the result that counts

We made a point of staying the night in the same barracks the Cloakwood Min Guards had used before we wiped out their operation!
Cloakwood Mines (Chapter 4)
After crushing the Bandit camp we took a break to rest, recuperate, recover and resupply and then headed to the Cloakwood Mines. We recon’d the grounds around the mine and more than once tangled with the Black Talon Elite and the mine Guards. In one case the BTE were able to kill Dynaheir and Jaheira had to use a Raise Dead scroll to bring her back to us. When we finally crashed the compound we ran into another group of assassins. I was never been prouder of our team. We destroyed them. Khalid approached first, Hidden in Shadow, & when one of the mages saw him he tossed a Potion of Explosions and hurt all of them badly. Then Immy took out one, or both, of the mages with a Wand of Lightning. Minsc & I then pummeled the fighter types and this thing was done!
Key Event:We moved thru the first level of the mines with no problem and then headed down a level. We ran into a buzz saw of guards – probably five at first – and then were drawn to the left where we ran into another 15 or so and another BTE with those Arrows of Ice (AOI) . This time they were supported by a mage. We were up to our knees in guards after Khalid threw a Sleep spell and Dy threw a Horror Spell. Still we were trying to kill them off while the BTE was pelting us with AOIs. I went after the mage and we ended up in another room. I’d popped a Potion of Blocking so I was good – until it ran out & she got me with some kinda dumb-dumb spell. Luckily I just stood there flailing away at her until it wore off. By then the party had finished off our light work (yeah right!) & arrived to help me finish the wench off.
We had a tough time against a bunch of Orecai on the third level but not too much so. Mostly, we got in trouble because we weren’t paying attention & walked into them without being ready to fight. We finished them off and added a thoroughly evil and despicable Ogre Mage. Another mage was down here too but we were able to beat her easily.
We finally found the master of this operation, Davaeorn, a mage on the 4th Lvl. Luckily, aside from one guard, he was alone. Dy was blown away quickly and it looked shaky. I quaffed a Potion of Magic Shielding and headed for the throat as soon as he appeared. Minsc was right by my side. Khalid was firing off acid arrows and they started getting through Davaeorns globe pretty quickly. Minsc landed the final blow but Khalid was the hero on this one – although Jaheira landed the first blow with a sling stone.

I am not the first Varel, nor will I be the last. But I will do what I can.
I start by finishing the chores around Candlekeep, then helping Marl, Firebead, Brage, Joia and Melicamp. I've corrected Oublek, killed a girdled ogre and purchased a potion of freedom at High Hedge. Time to sort out Nashkel mine.
I kill a pair of kobolds then lead Miner Beldin to safety, returning to deal with four more kobolds. I work my way through them, their arrows foiled by ankheg plate and the magical girdle. A pair of spiders are next, then more kobolds.
I rest before confronting Mulahey. I have consumed the potion of freedom, and cast PfE. Mulahey casts rigid thinking but I am a cavalier and brush such spells aside. He then tries twice to hold me before panicing. Our deadly battle plays out as a horde (6) of kobolds block each of us in turn. Finally I kill him, and then his kobolds followed by five skeletons.
On my way out I track down two ghouls then two oozes. Then I deal with four amazons. I start with Telka, but start to think rigidly as I wound her. Lamahla fails to hurt me but finishes Telka and Zeela.

I gut Maneira, then stand confused in entangled strands. The potion of freedom is working but Lamahla is out of sight. I recover, heal and close in only for her to cast command and down I go. She moves towards me but becomes entangled. I stand up and set to work. She hits me once, so I glug a blue potion then kill her. Note to self, don't try these four in future as hold person, command and rigid thinking are too risky.
Nimbul foolishly tries to scare me, and only manages one set of magic missiles before perishing. Tranzig is more of a pain but I cure wounds twice and lay on hands to scare him. After long minutes of chasing him he finally recovers and hits me with another spell. I respond with a chunky blow and head downstairs to rest.
More items. A girdle from Krumm, and a magical sword from Arghain. Then bracers from Meilum.

I'm using SCS but I bet there's an option to make that battle more difficult. I know I didn't choose many of those options so I bet that kept the BHs at bay. Thank goodness. CKT

So far she has killed Shoal, done the encounters from Friendly Arm down to Nashkel, killed Meilum for his bracers and cleared out the basilisk area. That lot has got her up to 6th level. As normal with my monks I am allowing her to get max HPs on level up to compensate for not getting a full constitution bonus. Here's her current character record.

One thing that amused me was that mirror images can get turned to stone.

After exiting the mines party left Pinky outside and went back go get Yeslisk out. It was hard to part with Branwen after all that time, but Yeslick is just much better. Branwen had good HP rolls but she couldn’t compete with the dwarf – even with lower levels (fighter 4/cleric 5) he had 56 HP. So Yeslick replaced Branwen, Ajantis rejoined party and everyone went to Baldur's Gate. But before they reached the city, Yeslick started complaining about not flooding the mines, so they had to come back. Ayakanya didn’t want to try the dwarf’s patience, so party travelled openly, without resting and recasting Invisibility. When giant spiders attacked, she had to take Ring of Free Movement from Pinky. It proved important later, as she forgot to give it back. She didn’t want any fights in the mine – plan was to just sneak all the way down, grab the key stashed in one of chests, and be done with it. Only she forgot about removing Pinky’s sword from him, and he attacked Hareishan on the way. Dynaheir, Ayakanya and Imoen filled the room with Webs, while Idiot joined the battle. Only then I realised that Ajantis didn’t have the ring. Yeslick was already at the stairs down when the battle started, but Ayakanya managed to pass the ring to him through Minsc, and dwarf could also charge into the fray. Emotion, Confusion and another Web were cast in the next round, but Hareishan replied with a Chaos, which affected Ayakanya, Idiot, and Pinky (who was webbed anyway). Ayakanya had darts of wounding equipped which caused some trouble for Dynaheir and Imoen. Yeslick was charmed soon after, and so Ayakanya’s party was basicly subdued, as Imoen and Dynaheir struggled with Ayakanya’s poison. But the same could be told of Hareishan’s men – all were webbed and confused, most also unconscious – and she didn’t have any damage dealing spells.

When Yeslick and Idiot regained their senses, Idiot entered bereserk and, sad to say, attacked Yeslick instead of Hareishan. Dwarf manged to run away and returned when Idiot turned against Hareishan. Meanwhile, Web, Confusion and Chaos have ended, freeing Pinky and Ayakanya, but also three of the enemies. They were soon confused again. Some of the uncounscious ones were killed by a well placed Skull Trap. Hareishan, surrounded by two bereserkers and a dwarf, died rather quickly. When she fell, Yeslick found himself trapped between Pinky and Idiot, but Pinky killed some guard before turning on Yeslick, which made room enough for the him to escape (with only a few HP left, as Idiot seemed intent on killing him).

At the same time one of guards attacked the ladies and proved to be very troublesome. Below, series of screenshots illustrate as he dies (being hit by Dagger of Venom), then walks, then attacks, and finally dies again.

Later, after two more such incidents, I discovered thet the bug is caused by the Dagger of Venom (I suspect that 'Poison' appearing after 'Death' is somehow relevant). I never had any such problems in the original game, so I suppose it must have something to do with either TuTu or SCS.
Encouraged by the fact that my party won the fight without any loses (which isn’t too often in this playthrough) I decided to clear also the next level. Chunking hobgoblins wasn’t any problems of course, but fight with Natasha went horribly wrong, as she escaped to the narrow corridor and cast Lightning, killing both berserkers. Yeslick managed to keep her busy until her Globe of Invulnerability have worn off, when she was killed by Magic Missiles. After carrying all the equpiment to the ground level party finally flooded the mine.
After one more trip to the temple and back (to get the equipment), party headed to Baldur’s Gate. Before dealing with the Iron Throne the only interesting encounter was that with Marek. His Confusion affected everyone but Ayakanya and Imoen, and their Confusion and Emotion were resisted or interrupted by Melf's Minute Meteors. Other spells were useless against his Minor Globe of Invulnerability. Ayakanya managed to hide, but Imoen was cut down by Idiot. He also killed two commoners.

Luckily, rest of them run downstairs. Marek didn’t kill anyone before the Confusion wore off and was then hacked to pieces. Reputation was down to 6, so a lot of money had to be donated, and some 'good deeds' done. There were also some problems with hostile commoners in the inn – Pinky tried to kill one of them, but party restrained him long enough for Yeslick to cast Remove Curse.
Plan for battle at the Iron Throne HQ was to sneak to the back of the top foor and cast a lot of Webs, Malison, some Confusions and Emotions at the enemies. Party had to reterat twice, before the battle actally started. First because Yeslick didn’t have Invisibility Purge prepared. Second time, Dynaheir moved to close to the enemies and was detected. She cloaked herself with Invisibility and party retreated again. When they came back it turned out that enemies didn’t return to their starting positions, so there weren’t any safe place to position the party. Minsc attacked Diyab in the back room to lure enemies there, and quaffed invisibillity potion. That mostly cleared the area near the left stairs, but the doppelganger (still in human form) still stood where he started. Minsc fired a few arrows to get rid of him (even being dead, he still appeared later, after dialogue with Zhalimar) and went back downstairs. Two invisible thieves followed him and stabbed him. One missed and Idiot survived, while thieves did not, as they soon found themselves webbed and hacked by two-handed swords. Then party went up and started casting spells from a safe distance. Not every enemy was affected – Alai had no Globe of Invulnerability so he must have had great saving throws, and Diyab was just too far away. Alai rendered Imoen unconscious with Emotion and confused Pinky and Idiot (as I forgot about his berserk again). Pinky was confused before he went berserk so it did work on him normally. Idiot was killed by Diyab’s Unholy Blight, confused Pinky wandered to the back room and felled Diyab’s skeletons. Meanwhile, Alai got confused (most of the other enemies as well, but they were webbed or/and unconscious anyway). Yeslick (who couldn’t charge with the berserkers as he didn't have free movement) took the right stairs, which got him directly to the confused Alai, and started pounding him. Ayakanya and Dynaheir cast some skull traps at the incapacitated enemies. Then Pinky’s confusion have expired and he moved to finish Diyab and others. Then I noticed that Yeslick wasn't attacking Alai anymore. Turned out that the mage hid downstairs. Unfortunately his was no longer confused when Yeslick found him, and he quickly frightened the dwarf. Pinky moved downstairs to engage Alai (his berserk have eneded since all the enemies were unconscious), while Ayakanya and Dynaheir approached the remaining enemies with staves (as Webs have expired). Unfortunately Gardush regained consciuosness just before he could be finished. He gulped a potion of extra healing and attacked Ayakanya. There was some running around and casting Magic Missles before she paralyzed him with her wand. The battle that took place downstairs didn’t go so well. Alai somehow managed to lose Pinky’s attention (must have cast some Invisibility) and paladin started killing the merchants (without reputation loss, however), while Alai was killing him with his spells. But Pinky soon run out of merchants and turned against him again, and Yeslick stopped running and joined him. Together they felled Alai and the battle was won.

For the fight with Prat’s party multiple Webs were used again, followed by Confusion and Emotion. The mage freed himself with Globe of Invulnerability. Before dying he confused Yeslick. Elementals were dealing damage even when held, and one of them killed Pinky. Fight appeared to be won when Prat regained consciousness and activated his protections. Yeslick managed to dispel some of them (though Prat quickly recast) and attacked him with his hammer, while Ayakanya and Dynaheir tried casting Chaos on him (party bought several scrolls at Sorcerous Sundries) to no effect. Imoen was busy finishing paralyzed elementals. At some point several phase spiders appeared from nowhere (that's what they do, I know, but it really wasn't the best time). They were killed by Magic Missles or paralyzed with wands. Finally Prat’s Globe have expired and he died. Party had to rest to prepare some Protection from Petrification, but before that, Yeslick went to kill some spiders (as it would be a shame to waste his buffs). Spiders proved thougher then expected and some potions were drunk. What was worse, a wraith spider drained Yeslick's strenght. He couldn’t move anywhere, so party decided to rest there. It was rather hard to sleep with all those phase spider attacks. All of them were defeated using wands of paralyzation (party had 3 of then at the time). After several failed attempts to rest, Yeslick regained his strenght and party retreated upstairs to get some proper sleep at last. There were some problems with inventory management. With two characters dead, lots of equipment had be to left behind, though nothing that couldn’t be bought in large quantities (and party had 70 000 gold pieces and 20 reputation).
When Pinky and Idiot were resurrected at the temple of Lathander, party visited Thalantyr to see if had anything useful left for sale. On the way to his home skeletons attacked. While Imoen fried them with a Fireball, Pinky went berserk and killed Mutalisk (dealing exactly 24 damage). Ayakanya’s constitution went down to 15 (now I know why I took 18 for my previous wild mage).

Back in Baldur’s Gate party spent all of their gold in Sorcerous Sundries and went to rescue Eltan (webbing the doppelganger, of course). Pinky had his sword removed as berserk is not a good thing in public places. As for the battle with Slythe and Kristin I decided to employ completely different strategy. Imoen prepared a lot of charm spells to use courtesans as vanguard, while Ayakanya used Nahal’s Reckless Dwoemer to call for an air support... just joking – Webs as usual, followed by Emotion, Confusion, Malison and more Webs. Slythe freed himself for a moment and stabbed Pinky, but was webbed again and quickly killed. Kristin (protected by a Globe) confused Idiot and Yeslick, then killed Pinky with a Chromatic Orb (after she lowered his saving throws with Malison). Party spellcasters couldn’t approach Kristin due to their own Webs, and she killed Idiot with Skull Traps. When Webs expired, Kristin was confused, stunned with darts of stunning and killed. Believe it or not, but no courtesan was harmed during the battle.
Battle at the palace went exactly as planned. Monsters were summoned, Mutalisk concealed Belt and Liia with his Invisibility, spellcasters were positioned in the back while warriors mingled with the crowd. Idiot revealed himself, starting the ceremony. Immediately after the dialogue girls started weaving Webs (then Emotion, Confusion, Malison and more Webs – ‘Yes, yes, a standard tactic, that’). Some of the doppelgangers managed to move for a moment, but that’s it – no one was hurt (apart from them, that is).

Yeslick wasn’t like to level up, so party moved through the maze and Undercity undetected. Final fight started with killing Diarmid with ranged weapons. When party confronted his skeleton, Sarevok, Tazok and Semaj joined the battle. Semaj’s protections were dispelled by an arrow (Sarevok’s and Tazok’s buffs too) and he was quickly killed. Angelo was still nowhere to be seen, so Idiot went to find him. When he did, he went berserk and killed him with Imoen’s and Pinky’s ranged support (arrows of dispelling mostly). Yeslick, aided by summoned monsters, engaged Sarevok and Tazok (who was much confused with all those spells being cast around). Idiot felled two skeletons and joined the main battle. Unfortunately, he chose Yeslick as his victim. Yeslick had just drunk some healing potion and had to run around for a while before he gulped invisibillity potion, turning Idiot’s sword in the right direction. While Tazok was hacked to pieces, Pinky finally charged into the fray, equipping the cursed sword. Sarevok was completely hopeless.

Unfortunately, there was no duel at the end – Pinky attacked the last remaining skeleton while Idiot chose one of the party’s ogres.
Final party status:
Ayakanya – wild mage 9, 32 HP (loosing Mutalisk really hurt this time), 80 kills
Ajantis, aka Pinky – paladin 7, 56 HP (61 with Helm of Balduran), 704 kills
Minsc, aka Idiot – ranger 7, 45 HP (but he reached 94 in the final battle), 473 kills
Yeslick – fighter 6/cleric 6, 68 HP, 52 kills
Imoen – thief 4/mage 9, 46 HP, fav. spell: Strenght, 177 kills
Dynaheir – mage 9, 39 HP, fav. spell: Magic Missle, 129 kills
Not many wild surges occured this time, and only one really interesting – the one which killed the first Mutalisk.
I counted 30 party member deaths, excluding 2 Mutalisk's deaths and Minsc's petrification.

Nimbul never activated properly as a stealth attack from Solis did enough damage to make him run.

Solis did a number of reputation quests before crushing the ankhegs on the way to Ulgoth's Beard to do some shopping and acquire the ring of free action from Dushai. She has just got a lift from Teven to the bandit camp.

Wow! I made it to Baldur's Gate for the first time in my life. I am blown away by the size of this place.
Fishing Village, Wyrm’s Crossing (Chapter 5)
After spending a couple of nights in the barracks that had been used by the Cloakwood Mine guards we headed north to the Fishing Village. We spent the better part of a couple of days between there and Wyrm’s crossing. While there we killed at least our share of ten Ankhegs and another nine Bandits.
Key Event: We met three men in the Fishing Village who claimed a Priestess of Umberlee was harassing them & not allowing them to fish by raising storms anytime they tried to do so. They asked us to aid them and we agreed heading north to Wyrm’s crossing where they said we’d find her. What we found was a little girl. A priestess of Umberlee to be sure but not the one at fault in this matter. The men had captured and killed her mother torturing her to learn the secret words to use a Bowl of Water Elemental Control. When we found we’d been deceived we returned and confronted the men who came clean and returned the bowl. We took it back to the ‘Priestess’ and hope we brought some peace to an otherwise evil situation.
From there we had the sad duty of helping a gentle farmer, Brun, who was looking for his son, Nathan. It seems Nathan and a friend had discovered an Ankheg burrow. Unfortunately it cost Nathan his life. We were able to recover his body and return it to his grieved father.
From there we headed north to Baldur’s Gate. We met the man Second in Command of the Flaming Fist, Scar. He hired us to look into some strange happenings @ the Seven Sons Trading Company. We agreed.

She has just arrived in Baldur's Gate for the second time and should be closing in on Sarevok fairly soon. Just the one close escape in the run so far against some sirenes.
At the bandit camp she charmed Raemon from stealth and got him to kill Venkt.

After that Solis found it pretty easy to finish the rest off.
Before going to the Cloakwood Solis recovered the tomes from the pirate cave and Durlag's Tower. Against the sirenes she did most of her damage with her fists, but got perilously close to dying from the sirenes' intellect draining ability. Good thing she was created with intelligence of 18!

With the ring of free action she was able to run through the Cloakwood without problems. At the mine she charmed Drasus at the 4th or 5th attempt (using stealth) and he killed Genthore. After his buffs wore off Rezdan was also charmed and killed Kysus. After Rezdan exhausted his other dangerous spells Solis finished him and Drasus off. After sneaking through the mine Solis went up and down stairs using stealth attacks to wear Daveorn down before closing in for the finish.

Not much to do in the city - just obtain the tomes. A single blast from the wand of heavens got Ramazith out of the way.

Solis could have just sneaked through the Iron Throne, but chose to take them on. A few blasts each from necklace of missiles and wand of heavens were used, but she reverted to true monk tactics to finish the job.

At Candlekeep Solis used scroll of magic protection and potion of storm giant strength to loot the tombs before sneaking out and heading back to the city.

Dude! You play so fast! Seems you just started that monk yesterday and now she's at the palace. Wow.
I plod along for hours a day and months for a full run. But then again, I leave nary a black spot uncovered. After I escape Candlekeep in chapter 6 I 'lay low' and do all of the side quests and map areas, unsually in the south and move north through Ulgoth's Beard and Durlag's Tower etc before returning to BG.
