I think daggers can be a bit of an under-rated choice for a druid. For role-playing purposes they seem suitable and they do have the advantage of allowing a single proficiency to be used for both melee and missile purposes. This allows the druid to do good damage from a distance and then wade in with dual weapons when appropriate. The speed factor will also sometimes allow you to kill enemies before they can hit you.The Fred wrote...
If you get her at L2/2, she has only blunt and missile proficiencies. If you get the L4 or L6 versions (L4/4 and 6/6, respectively), she also gains +1 in small swords, which allows use of daggers. Large sword proficiency lets her use scimitars, which not only seems more sensible and useful, it also counts, I believe, for flame blade. The silly proficiency and thieving point choices annoy me a tad, but since this is a no-reload challenge, I was just going to run with them. Having a focus in daggers when you could use scimitars seems a bit pointless to me, though.

If you want to get into role-playing, it actually seems kinda silly that druids can use scimitars because of an image if druids using sickles (which are more like daggers really) to collect mistletoe etc. Those are the rules, but flexibility for RP or other good reasons is cool too.

Then, I headed north and went Ankheg hunting. Thanks to Khalid's low AC, we took out three before taking any damage. At the end, though, two attacked at once and got quite a few hits off on him, causing us to burn up some Cure Light Wounds spells and a potion. I managed to get to the top of the map, though, so I can travel straight to Wyrm's Crossing later (and possibly head to Ulgoth's Beard before Ch 5).
Thanks to the XP, Pallyn gained another level, so the party is now:
Pallyn L5->L3
Imoen L4->L4
Khalid L5
Jaheira L4/L5 (nearly L5/L5)
Xan L4
I just stopped by High Hedge to get some spell scolls and whilst there, bought the Robe of the Good Archmagi. Next stop is probably the Gnoll Stronghold; maybe I will then swap out Xan for Minsc and Dynaheir.

Did the sirines and shipwreck maps. But left the flesh golem cave for a little later.
Buddha (Monk LV7), Xan (Sorcerer LV7) & Finch (Cleric LV7) all levelled up.
Killed all the Ankhegs at the farm north of FAI. Ironically, considering that ankhegs killed Starria a while ago, the party did not get hit even once (although a few skeletons did).

Returned the bowl to Tenya, priestess of the B!tch Queen Umberlee
Solved a husband-zombie problem for Leila.
Gave Farmer Brun the bad news about his son, and 100gp as well. Winston, a friend of old farmer Brun, later gave Wierdo a +1 cloak of Protection for being so nice! She gave it to Annakin.
Went to Ulgoth's Beard, bought a Returning Frost Dart for Buddha and a Cloak of Displacement for Wierdo
Went to the Golem Cave near the lighthouse. Killed golems, got Manual of Bodily Health. Used it on Annakin to raise his Constitution to 19, which gave him some more HP. I think he now might regenerate slowly too?

Preparation for Secret of Bone Hill
Wierdo's Party is now about to go to the Secret of Bone Hill mod parts. There is a lot of advernture/experience to get in this mod, and it is not too overpowered etc. My key objective for the mod will be to find the Ring of Air Elemental Control, which will give Wierdo improved invisibility once per day!
Here is how the party currently stands, just before SOBH (from left):
Wierdo, Gnome, Illusionist/Thief LV5/6 S18 D18 C16 I19 W11 Ch10 HP49 AC6, +1 longsword / +2 comp. shortbow, Kills 20%, Toughest: Shoal the nereid
Spangle, Fairy Dragon, HP24 (I think), Tail sting + electrical zap, Kills: 0%, loves to cast Invisibility 10' Radius on party.
Annakin, Human, Berserker LV7 S18/69 D18 C19 I18 W13 Ch10 HP105 AC-5, +2 Longsword 'Varscona' / Lt Xbow of Speed, Kills 42%, Toughest: greater basilisk
Buddha, Human, Monk Lv7 S18 D18 C16 I11 W18 Ch11 HP70, AC-3, fists / +1 Returning Frost Dart, Kills 17%, Toughest: Kahrk the Ogre-Mage
Imoen, Human, Thief LV7, HP56, AC2, +2 shortsword / +1 shortbow, Kills 8%, Toughest: greater basilisk
Finch, Gnome, Cleric LV7, HP70, AC-1, +1 flail / +1 sling, Kills 5%, Toughest: mustard jelly
Xan, Elf, Sorcerer LV7, HP28, AC4, +1 dagger / normal throwing daggers, Toughest: Doomsayer
I don't know who the guy on the far right is. He is just that guy that always gets in other people's photos but no-one knows who he is
I didn't list all stats for the standard NPCs. AC is their 'walking around town' AC, not what it gets to after buffings.

Actually I believe 20 CON allows regeneration, not 19.

Secret of Bone Hill - The Beginning
Wierdo went to the temple near Beregost and talked to Pelltar, who transported the Bhaalspawn Bretheren to the town Restenford in the Secret of Bone Hill (SOBH) mod. We explored the town.

There is good shopping in Restenford. Having saved almost all the gems found so far in the game, So Wierdo sold all the gems at once in Pheldman's store for nearly $15000 gold. Then spent it at various merchants in town on Cloak of Displacement; Boots of Avoidance (for Buddha); some scrolls (including Fireball for Wierdo. Finally!), Helm of Defence (for Annakin); Ring of Fire Resistance (now we have two now, which means Annakin can get 110% fire resistance (ring+ring+helm)) and +1 Ring of Protection.
We also robbed the three warehouses by the river for some minor loot, including +1 platemail and +1 leather.
Then moved up to Restenford Keep and talked to the Duke and Gelpas, although they weren't much help. Imoen went through the manor and picked all the locks on the chests - for practice. She and Wierdo weren't going to steal anything from the manor ... yet.
In Pelltar's tower, we found his Tome of +1 intelligence (for Wierdo) and spell book (nice) and in Zahrdahl's house we used 'Knock' on a chest that would not open by lockpicking to find not only Zahrdahl's spellbook, but also his journal which proves that he is a spy! However, I am not sure that I am meant to find this yet!

Afterwards i spent an hour sorting through my bags, i have way too much "loot" and way too much gold, i could probably retire about now but i still have that problem of finding this Seravok character and i think its about time i got my arse back to investigating the Iron Throne..
I've spent 250 in-game days exploring the Sword Coast so far, i think this is mainly to do with added quest mods and mostly resting alot from using buffs due to SCS shenanigans.

The second part of Bone Hill isn't too bad so long as you keep a clear head, especially in the castle part. By that time your chars will likely have enough experience to handle themselves! Make sure you save your game a lot on SOBH Pt2 as a precaution. I know this is no-reload, but I think it is still a bit buggy. I recall having some probs with quests not being properly resolved last time (although that could have been jsut a prob with my game/install).

The fact is, Spangle casts a really useful 3rd level spell - Invisibility 10' Radius. This means the party get a lot more power to pick-and-choose the time and place they engage with enemies. I guess that as the party gets more powerful this small advantage will become less & less meaningful, but for now I am enjoying having a 7th member in the party.

I'm thinking this isn't really intended behavior, since it goes against both the game documentation and my mod setup, but I don't know how to fix it.
EDIT: Nevermind. Shouldn't have jinxed the game by posting here: got immediately one-shotted by Seniyad's Call Lightning.

So, here's another go at the Sorcerer:

I skip fighting the two Candlekeep assassins altogether, as Oberon is in far too much of a rush to go around poking into random boarding houses. Instead, I rush through Candlekeep, watch as Gorion is brutally cut down in front of poor Oberon's very eyes, take the diamond from the tree and travel south to Thalantyr's to trade it in for Find Familiar and Skull Trap scrolls. The former is used to summon a trusty dragon companion, and the latter to blow up a bunch of skeletons, one of which manages to cut Obie a little. I hate skeletons. I take the skull from one of them - perhaps Oberon will craft a nice cup out of it on some boring night - and send Imoen away from
Next, I travel further east of Candlekeep under the cover of my familiar's invisibility spell, happily bypassing a several groups of gibberlings until we come to an ogre. Huge bugger, but he fell to one Sleep spell, after which Smog - named after a toy dragon that guards the entrance to my home - tore him to pieces with its adorable little jaws of death.
After that, we went on to the Friendly Arm, where Oberon took care of some thieving Hobgoblins and found a Ring of Wizardry under a firtree. It's amazing what people leave lying around. Then, it's time to go see a proper city. Invisibility continues to be highly convenient as we travel southwards.
In the town, I spend a while running various errands. I calm Marl down, I fetch a book for Firebead, I kill some half-ogres on the road south, and clean someone's home of an infestation.

"What is this, Australia?"
And go back to the FA for a reward.

"That guy looks like someone stood him up. Poor fellow."
After that, I decide to make a quick 2000 exp by saving Melicamp. Oberon and Smog head southwest and rescue the cursed apprentice. On the way back to Thalantyr's I get a little scare when three Ghouls randomly wander in from their spawn point, but three Blindness spells and some darts take care of them.
Sadly, not all stories end well. Thalantyr's spell fails and Melicamp is toast. It's unfair, I think. Why do I get cheated out of my quest reward when it was Thalantyr who screwed up? In frustration, I head north to the scene of Oberon's greatest personal tragedy and kill some bears and dread wolves for no good reason. Let me tell you, killing a blinded dreaddy takes a long time with a Mage's THAC0 and a weapon that does two hits of damage on a critical. Still, Oberon reaches level 4 for his troubles, and after heading back to Beregost and killing Karlat the Bounty Hunter, I decide that about concludes his first session.

That is interesting. Theoretically, the spell Blindness is an "Illusion/Phantasm" and therefore should not affect ghouls as they are mindless undead. At least, that is how I would rule it if DMing a PnP D&D game. I would have never even have thought to use that spell on undead in BG. However, I am not raising an issue with you - if it work it works.

Secret of Bone Hill - Bald Hill & Thieves Den
We went off to Bald Hill and encountered an 'ambush' by Krellus the orc and his band. They died quickly as we were well prepared for them, but found some nice items including a Girdle of Hill Giant Strength for Buddha, and a +2 flail for Finch.
My general strategy through the next few wilderness maps, like Bald Hill and the Thieves Den forest, is to be somewhere safe and:
- Get Spangle the fairy dragon to cast Invisibility 10' radius on everyone (24 hour duration)
- Party sleeps
- Party moves to new area (party still invisible)
- Buddha moves fast and is invisible - so he scouts the map
- Wierdo & Annakin do a double-team on enemies like orcs and bandits.
double-team : Annakin charges enemies from just out of their sight range (he has AC-5 and a -15 modifier against missiles, even without a shield) while Wierdo backstabs, then provides missile support. They are pretty efficient. This lets the party clear most of the minor baddies from the map. The rest of the party (Imoen, Xan, Finch) pretty much twiddle their invisible thumbs until a major encounter (or major stuffup).

Can't see the rest of the party standing there? Good. But why do I bring them along to suck up the experience? Hmmm .....
Found a gnoll village and a wolf lair. Found a a ring of invisibility and ring of lock-picks on dead bodies there!

Could be a nice discussion there. I suppose it depends on your view of how illusion spells work. If they only work by affecting minds, i.e. there is no physical component, then undead would not be affected. However, they might produce something real, but insubstantial. The spook spell for instance might conjure up a ghost - but ghouls would not be affected by this as they don't feel fear. Blindness would be a very localised spell, effectively making the air in front of something's eyes turn opaque, i.e. it would not be the ghoul itself that was affected, but the air (the saving throw would then partly represent how difficult it is to position the spell as well as the monster's chance to use its own abilities to dispel illusions).Wierdo wrote...

I just assumed it works by targeting the sensory input from the eyes, which the Ghouls would presumably still need to have in order to find their prey. I was surprised it works on skeletons, though - they don't even have eyes. Ah, skeletons. As a mage wielding darts and casting sleep, skeletons have been the bane of my existence.

The Fairy Dragon is an amazingly useful familiar, isn't it? I feel so much safer resting and traveling invisibly.
However!
Oberon is running a little short on money with 133 gp, so I decide to do a little bounty hunting of my own and head for Bassilus. A few choice words destroy his minions, but Bassilus himself saves against my Blindness, forcing me to frantically scramble away from his field of vision before his Hold Person hits (Smog is ready to cast invisibility on Oberon to save him in a pinch), but Oberon saves, as well. I return and spam a couple of Webs from outside of Bassilus' view, but he has cleverly vacated the premises and the spells are wasted. Smog hides Oberon and we search the area, finally finding Bassilus in the SE corner of the map, where he falls to my last Web and a blast from the Wand of Lightning I randomly found on a gnoll. Oberon lucks out once again by saving against a Hold Person in the process. Goddamn that's a scary spell.
After cashing in the madman's holy symbol, I buy a couple of Stone to Flesh scrolls and head east. I save a couple of basilisk victims for some minor exp, a Potion of Mirrored Eyes and a rep boost, and recruit Korax, who subsequently helps clear the map of Basilisks. Before facing Mutamin, Oberon casts three preemptive Webs at his position - a necessary precaution, it seems, given the guy's ludicrous gnomish saving throws. However, he does get held eventually, and a blast from the lightning wand kills him. With one charge left, I'll have to consider selling this baby for recharge and later use - six 3D6 bolts is insane at this stage of the game. Soon after, Korax turns on Oberon while fighting some gibberlings, but I decide to let the poor fellow live. He did try, after all, and all the dead basilisks in the area are a testament to that.
At the end of the excursion, Oberon has gained two levels, including a dagger proficiency and three spells, for which I choose Magic Missile, Mirror Image and Fireball. Say what you will about Skull Trap, Fireball is just plain cooler. Er, figuratively. Also, Mutamin's robe finally makes Oberon look like a proper mage.
At level six and with 40k exp, being a fresh-faced weakling cowering from wolves and gibberlings is mostly behind Oberon, and I think it's time to start building up a party. I'm thinking Kivan and Shar-Teel might do well for adding a little firepower to my team.

I myself haven't had chance to get any further just yet but I'll keep you all posted. I don't think I could manage to take on Aec'Latec in a no-reload full stop, let alone under SCS, but we'll see how the next couple of chapters go, first.

Headed to Cloakwood, and tried to settle an arguement between a hunter from Baldur's Gate and some druids. Unfortunately, the druids were pretty riled up and it came to a fight. Jaheira wasn't very happy, but she got a level (she's now 5/5).
Headed deeper in, and had a hairy moment when some ettercaps waylaid us; Imoen refused to cast any spells (turns out I somehow set many strange flags on her when using SCK, so she was secretly beserk, confuse, petrifiied AND dead). Anyway I killed them and fixed the issue, but realised that without a thief, the spider area would be too risky. I need to get Imoen another ~4k XP first.
Instead, I travelled towards the Gnoll Stronghold. An encounter with some ogres gained Xan the level-up he's been wanting for a while; unfortunately, my only L3 scrolls are Fireball (which he can't use), Dispel (useful, but not generally so) and Flame Arrow (which he failed to scribe into his book). So, right now, he has two dead spell slots. On the upside, I killed a mountain bear, for which I was given a pair of trendy new boots.
I'm thinking of dropping Xan off and going hunting some high-XP creatures to level Imoen up. Basilisks are a no-go atm, but Sirenes or the horrors outside Durlag's Tower, for example, might be doable. I also have a score to settle with the assassins in the Valley of the Tombs.

Afterwards, I went to quickly kill Greywolf, Sendai and Zal & Vax for some necessary equipment - Sharty now has the +2 long sword and a +2 studded leather, and Kivan has the Bracers of Archery. Shar-Teel threatened to leave after saving Prism got my reputation up to thirteen, but I managed to talk her into staying for now - hope she sticks around. Then, I headed to Shipwreck Coast, where Oberon got the Boomerang Dagger and Sharty got to test her berserking backstabs on some sirines.
Next, I think I'll go save Dynaheir and then boot both Rashemi out for Edwin. It's a bit boring to do these early quests with a level 6 character, but on the upside, people like Minsc and Dynaheir will join at a high enough level to still be viable if I need to replace someone else with them later on. Once that is done, I can fill up the rest of my party with Kagain and Viconia and move on to the more challenging parts of the game.
