Another of my patented 30 second sessions saw the end of Sanath. I'd left him last night at Daveorn's entrance and walked him closer to start the encounter. I obviously wasn't watching properly as I didn't even realise that Daveorn had used his sequencer until Sanath found himself webbed and being attacked by MMM - he never recovered movement.

I thought I would give a dwarf a go for those saving throw benefits. I don't think I've played much with a fighter/cleric so here's one.

A F/C solid choice Grond0 - I think it's much better than straight cleric for solo play. I remember Vessen my pure cleric got really high in levels and could cast a lot of spells, but was dead meat against almost any strong melee. A F/C can do much better in that regard (hardiness, GWW, etc.). Hoping this will be the one for you - you don't need another short run, I think we can all agree you are the master of that category and we don't need any more examples. : )

That's the way it goes eh. I seem to be sorted on BG1 for the moment, leaving it as-is and focus on the BG2 part, think your last few runs are convincing me not to switch back to SCS yet.

There are 3 potions of freedom at High Hedge, for SCS are Mulahey, Cloakwood 2 and Davaeorn are good places to use them?

Cloakwood is certainly a good idea. I tend to hop in and out of exits against Mulahey and Daveorn, but I know some people don't like that approach. The problem is that potion of freedom on its own is not really enough protection. For instance Mulahey would still have rigid thinking as a danger, as well as command (pretty lethal if his summons are still active). Daveorn has a lot of direct damage spells as well as save or die such as charm person. If I'm confronting Daveorn directly I normally use either a scroll of magic protection (also helps with his traps) or green amulet.

Bale is still going at level 5/5, though I haven't been looking after him particularly well.  The first dangerous encounter was in the Nashkel mines when I got careless using sanctuary and was surrounded by kobolds.
Image IPB
At least the sanctuary gave him a chance to heal before trying to work his way out.  The kobolds move around so much that plotting an exit wasn't easy, but with a mixture of charms and dual wielded axes (I have the SCS tweak allowing this for fighter clerics) he made it in the end.
Image IPB

The next problem was again the amazons.  I chose not to run away, which was certainly a mistake in a no-reload.  I think Bale only had 38 HPs at this point so was very vulnerable to a double dose of blights (the amazons ignored his sanctuary as this is an area effect spell), but fortunately his dwarf saving throws protected against both.
Image IPB
Lamalha was charmed at this point to reduce the spells coming in on him and he used 2 lots of drain life to disrupt Zeela's spells before successfully charming her to effectively end the danger.
Image IPB

One other point of interest.  I've commented before on Krumm's magic katana, but this is the first time I've noticed him harming himself when using it.

A fair bit more challenging with SCS then. Freedom & clarity are enough for Mulahey without it, the only time I've noticed command recently was Lamahla and/or Zeela with previous cavalier.

I tend not to have issues with Davaeorn as I have boots of speed and an oil of speed, and usually either a cavalier immune to charm or a character able to hide.

When I switch back to SCS I think I'll try a few goes outside the no-reload for these two.

Yes, it did strike me some time after I posted that my comments about the dangers of charm were less applicable to your characters than most! There would still be potential danger from things like chromatic orb and horror as well as damaging spells like cone of cold and fireball and his MMM.

Bale is now at his level cap and has arrived in the big city.  He's still riding his luck with one very narrow escape.

He did most of the main non-TotSC encounters (Kaahrk and Lendarn being the exceptions) in the process of getting his reputation up to 20 and he has bought everything of any use to him in the game.  At the bandit camp he got a lift in with Teven and used sanctuary to give him the opportunity to charm Raemon before looting the chest and then running away.  He used a similar approach on Drasus, though had to use all the 4 sanctuaries he carried before getting a charm to stick.

After resting sanctuary was again used in the mine.  Quite a few guards followed him down to Daveorn's level, but he didn't have any problems dealing with them.
Image IPB

I trapped both Daveorn and Bale in a corner with the aid of a couple of battle horrors.
Image IPB
I wondered for a moment whether this was a good idea.  However, using the golden girdle they needed a 19 to hit Bale and he was able to chew through Daveorn's stoneskins without using any healing potions just before the battle horrors got him to a critically low position.

The only thing done in Baldur's Gate thus far was the fight at the inn (I don't normally do this, but wanted the +2 axe).  Bale was very lucky to survive this after getting trapped in a web.
Image IPB
The nearest attackers to him were also stuck and the mage ran out of MMM just before finishing him off, but he still only got free just in time to foil the archer targeting him and a skeleton bearing down.

James, H M Inquisitor
Party members: Imoen, Jaheria and Khalid
Previous Post: social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/181/index/3124065/215#10315762

"We travelled without incident to the area described by Bjornin.  Imoen seems a little grumpy on the journey: I think she misses the conforts of Feldepost's Inn.  Jaheira and Khalid, however, were much happier to have left the town behind us.

"Of our companions, Jaheira is the one that most confuses me.  For an avowed lover of Nature, the woman certainly loves the sound of her own voice.  At times the voice is not unpleasant, and her knowledge of herbs and the wilds has been helpful.  However, much of the time she is bent on voicing her frustration with Khalid's abilities.

"For his part, Khalid seems to love her very much.  Still, for his own sanity (no doubt), he seems to have developed the ability to ignore Jaheria's constant complaints.  I now pray nightly that Lathander will grant me this same gift, but so far my request has been denied.

"The following day brought great evil.  It started well enough, with a member of the Chill and various small bands of Gnolls and Ogres finding justice at the end of our blades.  Some local fishermen spoke with us at length: but I think they knew as much about fishing as I did about the current iron crisis: which is little indeed.  After that, my faith was sorely tested.

"Moving around the edge of the lake, we were accosted by three bandits: a warrior, a hobgoblin archer, and a witch.  I began with a mighty shout to Lathander for victory, and used his power of True Sight to defeat the witch's Mirror Images.  Trusting that my four companions could handle the lone warrior, I ignored the witch for the moment and instead first addressed the hobgoblin archer: I wanted to fell him quickly, before those arrows could cause grevious harm.

"Whether my actions were from inexperience, or from hubris, I know not.  In the past, spellcasters had given me no cause for fear:  their spells tended to be ineffective against Lathander's chosen and my sword would bring them to a swift end.  Alas!  This time she followed true with a spell, and I forgot my faith, my battle with the hobgoblin, and my companions and succumbed to Horror.

"In panic I abandoned the fight and -- like a coward -- tried to run away.  The witch Jemby and the hobgoblin took advantage on my weakness and tried to slay me from afar, but Lathander's grace and my excellent Ankheg armor did not fail me, though my spirit had.  In time, my companions finished off the fell warrior, though wounded indeed was Jaheria.  Even so, she led the charge against my assailants, distracting the archer and witch with her quarterstaff while Imoen and Khalid put their own archery skills to use.

"Sadly, I was still causing more harm than good to our party: in my panic I fled not to safety, but directly into a pack of gnolls and wolves.  They were unable to keep up with my hurried flight, but my paths crossed with my companions and they suddenly had another battle on their hands, while I was still incapacitated.  Jaheria used one of our healing potions, and stayed the course until I finally regained my senses.

"At long last, I was able to take control of my emotions, and the additional foes proved little challenge to my blade.  Even so, I owed many thanks and apologies to my companions, who carried the day when I acted like a rabbit, instead of the lion I wish to be.

"I have made particular apologies to Jaheria, whose healing and combat skills were key in this unfortunate battle.  For the next week I pledged to keep not only my watch but hers, as her wounds were serious, and my gratitude insufficient to make amends.  Sharp tongue or not, she is a valued companion, and I hope to keep her company for some time.

"I have finally named my magical sword: Lathander's Reminder.  I hope that as I tend to it each sunrise, I will renew my vows to Lathander and strengthen my faith so that I will not fail again."

Bale's luck eventually ran out at the palace.  He was heavily buffed and would have had no trouble in killing the greater dopplegangers on his own, but also had 5 buffed skeletons helping him.  With that assistance I thought it would be OK to fight fair, but no such luck.  The dopplegangers got lucky against Belt, killing him incredibly quickly and then moved on to take out Liia before they could be eliminated.  Moral of the story - never fight fair!

Right - another attempt at a dualled kensai. However, this time the intention will be to give the bad guys no mercy. Here's Lilo on exit from Candlekeep - being ultra-cautious she didn't even tangle with Carbos or Shank!

Despite my best intentions Lilo also found a way to die. After completing the Nashkel mines at level 6 she was looting the tombs, but lost out to the ghasts. On first entering the ghast tomb she was surprised to find the ghasts between her and the exit (must have been due to a skeleton outside running in a few seconds before, although the ghasts wouldn't have had time to move that far normally in that time).

She had bought a potion of magic blocking for emergencies, but that wouldn't help against the ghasts and she had no potions of freedom or scroll of undead protection. She tried a missile blast,
Image IPB
but that didn't quite kill any of them and she was held trying to get to safety.

@Grondo, condolences on another loss. I hate that grand dukes battle!

@After 5, nice to see some more narrative. Very engaging action scene. Your party has a weakness - no cleric means no Fear protection. I love Jaheira, but I've always thought that the druid class is a luxury compared to having a cleric, which I see as a necessity. I'd hate to play a no or minimal reload with no Resist/Remove Fear available. You were very lucky, or should I say, "blessed by Lathander", that your party members all made their saves. I've had wipes before where my whole party would succumb. Horror is a very dangerous spell in BG1.

Lilo #2 is currently in the Nashkel mines with 51,000 XP. Progress so far has been uneventful:
- killed Shoal (level 3, +22 HPs).
- Karlat, slime quest, Perdue, Marl, Algernon, Firebead (level 4, +9 HPs).
- more tasks in Beregost and Nashkel and went to get ring of free action and green amulet at an extortionate price, given current reputation of 7 (level 5, +14 HPs).
- helped Tenya, a farmer with a zombie problem and saved a cow. Using green scroll cleared the basilisk area (level 6, +10 HPs).
- killed Greywolf, bought amulet of shielding / necklace of missiles.

Lilo has continued her adventures and arrived at Baldur's Gate.

No trouble in the mine.  The necklace of missiles was used to deprive Mulahey of support.  Back in Nashkel some charmed guards dealt with Nimbul while Lilo stayed away.

The Cloudpeak areas provided level 7 and 7 more HPs. Ran past the battle horrors to get the tome from Durlag's Tower. There were just enough reputation quests left to get up to 20 (Melicamp failed) and Lilo went to buy staff +3, cloak of displacement and ring of invisibility from Ulgoth's Beard.

Tranzig's spells were wasted on the stairs before Lilo got a lift from Teven to the bandit camp.  Thought about just grabbing stuff invisibly, but decided to clear the tent.  Potions of heroism and fire giant strength, necklace of missiles and dodging Venkt's spells did the job, though the archers did manage a couple of criticals.  Taugosz had been charmed before going into the tent, so Lilo did not even have to run away quickly, but chose to take a slight risk by attacking him.  The large number of bandits that were following him got a couple of criticals, but with Kai attacks doing 27 each Taugosz went down before she had to retreat.

Ran through the Cloakwood - not stopping to kill the phase spiders that teleported in to greet Lilo in the second area.  The ring of invisibility was used to charm Drasus without reaction and draw him away to his doom.  Further use saw Lilo down to Daveorn where he used a scroll of magic protection and then quickly beat up the battle horrors before chasing Daveorn down.  On the way out Lilo decided to charm and finish off the remainder of the ambushing party, which provided her last level and 13 more HPs.  Before going to the city she used the ring again to get past the sirenes quickly (no more need for XP) and retrieve the constitution tome.  That takes her HPs to 97 (or 8.5 above average).

That being said, here's my custom party:

Astarta, LG Human Necromancer, 10HP, 18/18/17/18/18/3, *Darts, almost all important 1st lvl spells
Aerie, TN Elven Sorceress, 10HP, 18/19/16/18/18/3, *Darts, Lvl1 picks: MM, Shield
Yoshimo, TN Human Assassin, 14HP, 18/18/18/13/18/3, *Longsword *Single-Weapon style, 50% disarm traps
Drizzt, LG Human Ranger, 24 HP, 18(00)/18/18/13/18/3, **Scimitar *Club ***Two-weapon
Minsc, LG Human Ranger, 24HP, 18(00)/18/18/14/18/3, **WarHammer *Axe ***Two-weapon

The party bought some basic armor and weapons in Candlekeep. At least everyone has a good missile weapon :) After Gorion died, the party traveled a bit in the area, looted the items from Xzar, Monty and Imoen, also a diamond in a treehole, looted Gorion's body and departed south for the High Hedge. Avoiding enemies, the party travelled to Beregost and calmed Mart. Also, obtained Algrenon's cloak by killing him (pickpocket failed). Went to the nearby Temple and paid 500 gp for some reputation points. Travelled south. Encountered 2 Ogrilons, charmed one, killed the second, obtained a scroll. Charmed a local Paladin as well. Used the Paladin and Ogrilon as meat tanks while killing a bunch of Ghouls with ranged attacks. Next, slew a small group of Hobgoblins, slew the Ogrilon and paladin as well. Loot: Plate armor, Boots of Stealth (for the thief).

Traveled back to Beregost, talked to Mirriane, got a Ring of Protection + 1.

Traveled to Nashkel (without encounters), here found the Ankheg plate mail.

Travelled back to the crossroads area. Killed 3 groups of gibberlings with ranged weapons, Sleep spell and also some help from Algrenon's cloak. Used the cloak to charm 2 wolves (killed the other 2), and found another Ring of Protection +1 in a rock hole. Next, Astarta's familiar and the two wolves killed Elminster (the wolves deal significanly more damage).

Have a good run Saros.

Lilo is indeed now in Amn.  She has just survived the dungeon, though she had to save against a horror spell (was never subjected to a spell save in BG1).  Her progress to the end was:
- firebreath potion saw end of Ramazith.  Also picked up dexterity tome.  Investigated Iron Throne using ring of invisibility.  At Candlekeep used scroll magic protection and storm giant strength to loot the tombs and then walked out with the help of invisibility ring.  As Lilo does not have any proficiency with axes she didn't bother taking on Prat to get his magic throwing axe.
- on return to Candlekeep Lilo rested when she shouldn't have and ended up with 2 copies of divine might rather than just the intended one.  Used scroll of magic protection to get the last tome of wisdom and then ran to the Iron Throne.  Cythandria survived a kai attack and potion of firebreath, so Lilo had to use a potion of absorption to deal with the golems before finishing her off (reached XP cap here).
- used a potion of invisibility to get in and charm Quenash before edging out far enough to get a glimpse of Slythe and setting Quenash and Larze to attack him (without giving him a chance to react and activate Krystin).  As expected Larze triumphed over Slythe.
- aAfter a rest went to the palace.  No chances taken this time.  The green amulet would have protected against the dopplegangers' spells, but in the event none of them got a spell off as the ring of invisibility was used at the start of combat.  Without a visible enemy the greater dopplegangers' scripts set them to react only to attacks giving them no chance of killing both dukes.  All the Flaming Fist died, but they and Belt killed 5 of the enemy leaving Lilo to reveal herself to finish off the last.
- went through maze invisible and using scroll magic protection.  Buffed by potions Lilo used kai to hit Sarevok 4 times (for 124 HPs) in a round of attacking, but suffered 80+ in return and had to retreat.  Lilo had THAC0 of -6 so had no trouble hitting Sarevok, but her AC was only -11, which Sarevok only failed to hit with a critical miss. As Sarevok had far more hits she had no hope of finishing him off in one assault, unless Sarevok got stuck in the webs released by traps - which he never did.
- after using a potion of invisibility and healing she attacked again.  This time she managed 5 hits before having to retreat with the use of an extra-healing potion, taking Sarevok to near-death.  Another potion of invisibility and healing and Lilo closed in for the kill.
Image IPB

After reporting back to the dukes Lilo was sent off on another errand, only to be ambushed en route.
Image IPB
What I don't understand is why the thieves always manage to ambush a group of innocent travellers along with the Bhaalspawn!

@After 5, Your party has a weakness - no cleric means no Fear protection.... I'd hate to play a no or minimal reload with no Resist/Remove Fear available... Horror is a very dangerous spell in BG1.

Thanks for the kind comments.  As you know, wizards also get Resist Fear, but with no wizard and no cleric, I don't have the spell (as you note).

So far I had compensated through ignorance and planning.  Ignorance in that I was uncertain if the Inquisitor's immunity to charm also extended to fear (it doesn't, but that's what I was guessing at).  Planning fell to making sure that James ( the Inquisitor ) always takes the melee lead against spellcasters, and the rest of the party stays well away from him, to avoid any risk of being disabled by spells thrown at James ( like Hold Person ).  In this case, the extra distance worked well, with the rest of my party out of range of Horror, so James was the only who was at risk.

Granted, having the Protagonist at risk is pretty much a bad idea, but I'm working with what I have: and it seems to follow the feel of the narrative.  And the cleric problem is addressd shortly: but that's something saved for the narrative (which is still behind).

(And Doh! I just realized the Spider's Bane is going to be of little or no use to an Inquisitor... or is it?  Something in the back of my mind says Inquistors are not immune to Web and similar spells, even though they would seem similar to Hold Person...)

I'm starting a new playthrough. This time I'll try to make a complete SCS run, Durlag's Tower and all, with a custom party. The protagonist is Dhanushka, an elven archer:

She will be accompanied by two half-orcs – a barbarian and a swashbuckler, a dwarven fighter/cleric, half-elven skald and an elven sorcerer:

From Candlekeep my party went straight to Beregost and did some killing south of the city, which yielded them a plate mail for Samadarshin, Boots of Steath for Dhanushka. Shari had had to be resurrected once, when she was critically hit by a hobgoblin. Then I did the Melicamp quest (discovering that skeletons are not immune to sleep). After some more killing on the road south of Beregost, rogues reached level 2. Shari's lockpicking skills reached 60%, so she robbed the whole city, acquiring a potion of heroism, potion of invisibillity and wand of lighting among others. Next I led the party to Bassilus area. Two dread wolves allowed Grunkh to advance to second level. I decided to kill Bassilus, thinking that barbarian rage protects against Hold Person and Confusion and being evil from Unholy Blight. True enough, but Bassilus killed Grunkh with Flame Strike. I had no idea he has access to 5th level spells. I shoud have retreated, but decided otherwise, commanding everyone to attack. Bassilus cast Unholy Blight, but Melodia survived and Dhanushka managed to escape it's area of effect. Shari was killed with a single hit of Bassilus' hammer (14 damage). Then Dhanushka was held and Samadarshin suffered the same fate as Shari. Then Melodia was held. Vaitali kept attacking with wand of lightning, but the bolts kept bouncing in the wrong direction. She even managed to disrupt one of Bassilus' spells (which I thought wasn't possible) and bring him to a brink of death, but he quaffed an extra-healing potion and held her (with a spell, that is). Then he summoned some skeletons and killed Vaitali, but luckily forgot about Melodia and Dhanushka. Again I failed to do the smart thing and attacked, when paralysis worn off. Luckily, skeletons did not join the fight and Bassilus was out of spells. Or so it seemed. He kept chasing Melodia and Dhanushka kept shooting, but then he suddenly cast Command on her. Fortunately, at the same time she scored a critical shot.

Survivors of the battle were rewarded by level ups.

You're right that immunity to hold is not the same as free action, so if you're up against SCS improved spiders then that sword would certainly come in handy.

@ Grond0: Congrats on beating down Sarevok!
@ saros & Blackmalkin: Best of luck with your colorful bands!

Grim Face is still in action (tho my sessions are rather seldom...). Band cleared the tombs valley (mostly by Khalid under Protection from Undead scroll). I was pretty scared by SCS amazons, but all went quite smooth: Hobgoblins from the Wand of Monster Summoning occupied enemies' skeletons, all amazons except Lamalha  were out of action due to Web and Stinking Cloud and were soften with Necklace of Missiles. Lamalha soon fell to Khalid's arrows, Jaheira's bullets and Grim Face's Magic Missiles as well as Maneira and Zeela who never recovered from Stinking Cloud's aroma. Telka  was invisible but tried to backstab the nearest Hobgobling revealing herself and was quickly dispatched. We avoided Narcillicus at the moment and went to help Samuel (and to pick the precious Ring of Fire Resistance). After delivering Samuel to FAI Band went onto Farm's Area were Khalid, buffed with Potion of Heroism and Giant Strength, made some Ankheg hunting. We helped local farmer (now we have a machine-gun and some useful darts), killed the fishermen for Tenya and now are on the way to the Ulgoth's Beard.

Current state:

Grim Face, Sorcerer 5 (lvl1-Shield, Sleep, Blindness, Magic Missiles; lvl2- Mirror Image, Web), 169 kills, Vampiric Wolf
Jaheira, Fighter 5 / Druid 5, 114 kills, Lamalha
Khalid, Fighter 6, 261 kills, Greater Basilisk
Imoen, Thief 6 (inactive) / Mage 4, 68 kills, Winter Wolf
Dynaheir, Invoker 5, 9 kills, Zeela

to be continued...

Well, will try to keep a long story short:

After killing Elminster, all party members got several levels. Unfortunately, not enough for the sorceress to obtain a lvl 2 spell. So they travelled to the outskirts of the Friendly Arm Inn, obtained a Ring of Wizardry for PC, opened routes to some new areas, and traveled to the area where Drizzt is hiding.

Not all was uneventful, Aerie was killed a couple of times by archer attacks interrupting sleep or intercepting the group while travelling. She was raised of course, but the party gold reserve was almost depleted. Reputation was raised to 12 once again.

Encounter with Teyngan and his group: Yoshimo scored a nice backstab with a poison weapon on their mage, and managed to charm Teyngan afterwards. Teyngan killed the hobgoblin, and was used as a cannon fodder in upcoming fights with various enemies on this map. Eventually he fell to a group of Ghouls, which the party eliminated via run-and-shoot tactic. The party rangers got lvlup here (lvl 4).

Traveled back to the first wilderness area to recruit Imoen. Unfortunately she was shot down by a group of Kobolds, and because of the 0 lvl add-on (she is at lvl 0) her resurrection at the temple costs 30k gp. No thanx. She was disbanded, the group travelled back to Monty&Xzar, ditched temporarily a party member, joined Monty&Xzar, travelled with them to the Drizzt area, and left them as a barricade on the island. Rejoined the temporary disbanded party member, travelled back to Drizzt area, cleared a couple of monster groups, and positioned everyone except one ranger on the island.

Lured Drizzt. He wanted to talk. Well - no thanx. Nothing to discuss with you. OUR Drizzt needs your stuff, drow.

Okay, that was good. Not only party ranger Drizzt got good weapons, also the second ranger got a Mithril Chain +4, and the party mages hit lvl 4, which means - Invisibility for the sorceress.

Under Invisibility, the party travelled through ankheg territory, even looted their cave (Wand of Fire and other stuff here + a dead boy), and snuck into Ughoth's beard. Here the party charmed and killed Dushai. Got a Ring of Free Action for Drizzt, and a Web scroll for Astarta.

Obtained the long sword, Varscona +2 - Yoshimo urgently needs a good backstabbing weapon. Greywolf was actually charmed and lead straight into a group of hostile Kobolds, which almost killed him. Finishing blow dealt by Astarta.

Travelled straight for Durlag's tower. Using Web + Ring of Free action, the two Battle Horrors were easily dispatched. The first battle with the dopplegangers wasn't that easy, but still, with Sleep + Web + Drizzt's scimitars, the shapeshifters fell one after another. The ghasts in the basement and 2nd level were no trouble again thanx to the Free Action ring.

Durlag's catacombs, lvl 1. Scary. Invisibility + party thief took care of the nastier traps. Several Phase spiders teleported one by one, only to be eliminated by Drizzt. He was lucky and wasn't poisoned until he found some antidotes, and then he could cope with now-and-then poisoning. 4 battle horrors were killed several times, as were most of the Phase spiders on the level. In the meantime, the party thief managed to disarm almost all traps on this level (there are enough thieving potions scattered around, he used several). With combined effort, soon the whole level was cleared. Wand of Monster Summoning was used at the tougher spots (2*Skeleton Warriors + 2 Flesh Golems). A plate mail +3 was obtained for Drizzt, thus the Ankheg plate went to Minsc. Also, many 4-th and 5-th lvl scrolls were scribed by Astarta. The only untouched monsters for now were the greater dopplegangers (those are lethal even without their Dire charm, and if there is no protection vs it - slim chance of winning).

The party sustained a casualty here - Drizzt was surrounded by Flesh golems and slain. Without him, the party had to deal with 3 Flesh Golems. They used enchanted projectiles and summoned monsters as cannon fodder.

Raised reputation to 16 by donations, completed several minor quests and got rep to 20. Drizzt was raised as well.

Afterwards the party explored all wilderness areas with items of some value. Obtained:

2 ProMagic scrolls - the second one by charming the priest at Firewine bridge and sending him into a group of Kobolds.
various potions
several +1 weapons
several containers
Claw of Kazeroth
Cloak of Displacement
Martial Staff +3
some spell scrolls (Skull Trap, Greater Malison, Emotion, Remove Curse, ProPetrification)
a Purple Ioun Stone for PC (just in case)
Tome of Leadership (read by Aerie)
Gauntlets of Dexterity
Girdle of Bluntness
Cloak +1 (party now has 3 rings +1 and one cloak)
Amulet +1
Helmet of Defense (Shoal killed too)
Boots of the North
Ring of Fire Resistance
Greenstone Amulet (used it for protection vs Sirine attacks)
Manual of Bodily health - read by Yoshimo - and corresponding items too.
Medium Shield +1 (half-ogre quests) - worn by Minsc currently
Bracers of Archery
Gauntlets of Weapon Expertise
Shield Amulet
Necklace of Missiles
Full Plate Mail - so now Ankheg plate is obsolete.
Also, acquired plenty useful projectiles. Even 2 Arrows of Detonation and 2 Arrows of Dispelling.

And finally, the warhammer Ashideena. This was a tough fight, but Drizzt stood prepared. With the help of the Greenstone amulet and the Ring of Free Action, he was immune to enemy disabling spells, and with Helmet of Defense, Ring of Fire Resistance and the Icingdeath scimitar he was immune to fire as well. Basillus is lvl 12 in SCS, and has a powerful Flamestrike starting spell usually. This time however, he couldn't cast anything, since Yoshimo surprised him with a poisoned weapon backstab in the start of combat. Still, Basillus' mighty strikes almost killed Drizzt, but the ranged support from the other party members soon killed him.

After all those were obtained, the party travelled back to Durlag's tower lvl 1 catacombs and challenged the greater  dopplegangers. I am unsure, but I think that their THAC0 and AC are improved compared to vanilla. More importantly, they start with Mirror Image and Haste - buffs which are refreshed after 1 turn if they're still alive. They shoot Horror and Dire Charm, and fight well. Still, Remove Magic from Aerie took care of their Mirror Images at least, and the rest was decided by Drizzt's scimitars and ranged weapons + magic missiles from the mages.

So, with the greater dopplegangers dead, lvl 1 was almost cleared, the bottle of wine remains ungiven yet.

Current party levels: Everyone is at lvl 7 (about 82 k xp each), except Yoshimo who's lvl 8.

Astarta: *Dart *Quarterstaff
