After finally seeing the wonders of Throne of Bhaal I've got an extra incentive to get there without Gate70 holding my hand - this is my latest attempt to do that by proving the virtues of a halfling fighter/thief.  I also thought I'd see if I could complete a run in verse this time - tried 2 or 3 times before, but never successfully.  After the heavy use of the last run I won't be using Algernon's cloak at all this time.

Ballad of Cynos

Cynos the halfling can no longer sleep
In his former home of Candlekeep
He's being sought for a dastardly deed
On a defenceless mage named Firebead

His wanderings took him to Beregost town
Where he helped Marl calm down
Perdue twirls his sword with glee
Landrin's home is now pest-free

Mirianne need fear for her husband no more
Viconia's now safe from the law
For sneaking these boots are just the thing
Lord Foreshadow provides a valuable ring

A village called Nashkel was the next stop
Cynos resisted giving Noober a whop
A pet wyvern need no longer be feared
Neira's no more, though she was rather weird

No problems thus far.  The only enemy to damage Cynos up to now was a single hit by Neira; she was rather more difficult than she should have been because her buffs/spells/HPs renewed every time Cynos was out of sight (this occasionally happens with SCS divine casters).  Hence the normal routine of stealth and backstabs was useless, but Cynos got her in the end with a bit of help from a couple of wandering guards.

Here is his current record showing a rather disappointing 26 HPs at level 3/3.

Good luck Grond0. From what I've seen you've got the skill to no-reload the trilogy at some point but I find the TOB battles require a lot of knowledge about what works for which characters. Fair to say I haven't mastered it after a lot of runs, classes and parties since the game came out (but I've made more progress in the last 1-2 years than all the time before thanks to no-reload).

Verun, NE male human wild mage. With Stenky the imp familiar, Imoen and Viconia.

Stenky is tired so I backpack him again. Now, where were we.

Deja-vu part 2. Noober, Edwin, Brage, Oublek, Marl, Firebead Elvenhair, Mirianne, Joia, Tarnesh, Pantaloons.

EdwinA has a shock after we kill Unshey's ogre. She immediately whines about Dynaheir, but as we go to investigate she is killed by bandits despite glugging a blue potion. We drag her carcass out of harms way and pay 100gp at Nashkel temple.

Dynaheir is now at the top of our list but we're too weedy to reach her. I convince Stenky to become a spider and I cast Shield in case he needs me to intervene for a moment. Gnarl and Hairtooth are rapidly beaten and we move on.

Stenky poisons every gnoll and Dynaheir before retreating into my backpack. Edwin is mine to boss around for a year. I prefer to keep familiars backpacked all game but wanted to get Edwin sorted. Assuming Verun doesn't snuff it I am undecided whether the familiar will act as a substitute melee when required.

Verun, NE male human wild mage. With Stenky the imp familiar, Imoen,Viconia and Edwin.

Vax and Zal almost get Viconia but two blue potions suffice until Vax is dropped and Zal blinded. Viconia has run around, bringing a winter wolf in as well as a xvart. I try to Larloch the wolf but we decide to leave QUICKLY.
Image IPB

A nabassu deals with the winter wolf, Zal and a kobold. It gets bored shortly afterwards and de-gates.

Caldo and Krumm fall victims to sleep, blindness and a pair of commands. Not speaking to the dryad yet in case reputation needs adjusting later.

We have two of Bjornin's ogres asleep, a third commanded and the fourth blinded. I had played target, and my companions realise how fortunate they are (so far....)
Image IPB

Edwin is checking his fire-resistant robe, Viconia focusing on her magic resistance while Imoen is suggesting we travel east of Nashkel mine next.

Edit, had a couple of other surges in the previous session. Colour change and something else harmless, then forgot to document them.

The halflings played true to form as Cynos didn't last much longer. After dealing with encounters at the Carnival, Meilum and Greywolf he went into the Nashkel mines. Successfully sneaked through the kobold legions to the final encounter. There he shot down the kobold elites before Mulahey appeared and then tried to use the necklace of missiles to dispose of his summons, only to be commanded.

That's a rare spell to open with in SCS, but really nasty when it occurs - I play without sound and the spell animation is hidden by all the opening buffs appearing, so the only defense is to run away before knowing what is coming.

Cynos did somehow survive the initial assault by kobolds, but with only 1 HP left and suffering poison from a kobold guard I felt he had no choice but to take a potion rather than run immediately. He did - and Mulahey commanded him again! Got to hold my hands up and say the guy was too good for me this time

I've started a new character. She's a fighter, though I have in mind that she might join the wild mage brigade in BG2.

She's now got grand mastery in flails, but has no missile proficiency. As that makes things take rather longer early on she went pretty much straight to Firewine Bridge to get Meilum's bracers to buff her sling. At level 1 she needed an 18 to hit him, so that combat took quite a while (not using Algernon's cloak), but at least the bracers have helped significantly since then.

Quelle cleared most of the basilisk area thanks to the green scroll. Three of the four members of the party there survived as Korax turned hostile after killing just one of them - chose discretion over valour by retreating at that point.

She has just completed the Nashkel mines. Kobolds were dealt with by using pinch points where only a limited number could attack her at once. She used about half a dozen healing potions, but no problems. With Mulahey this time she did run away when his buffs fired and then came back in to use necklace of missiles. Mulahey failed to complete a spell at all.

Good luck.

Verun, NE male human wild mage. With Stenky the imp familiar, Imoen,Viconia and Edwin.

Bassilus is almost on the way to Nashkel mine. Although commanded twice it takes three attempts to blind him, and his concentration has allowed Viconia to be held. She's a safe distance away so we add some more Larloch drains and magic missiles.
Image IPB

Imoen gets herself a pair of designer (Zhurlong) boots and Stenky shares his backpack with Melicamp while we retrieve the fire resistant ring. Leaving Samuel for later if reputation needs increasing, as Viconia will need a strength spell to lug him about.

Melicamp survives his transformation, and we collect a reward for Bassilus bad idea, should have kept it until I need the cash.

Gratz, Gate. These wild mage runs are a blast to read, although luck is bound to run out eventually.

@Grond0: Good luck on your new run. Too bad about the halfling. I was really looking forward to more verse. It made me think of "Baldur's Gate, It's Your Fate, Don't Be Late!" by Dr. Seuss, complete with illustrations in the artistic style of Theodore Geisel. That would have been hilarious!

Session 1
Candlekeep should be quicker as we can split the tasks. Not really the case as we were finding our feet and make a minor error (forgot to rest to get friends spell and magical dagger from Fuller so had to trudge back for a nap).

Wilderness
Peer starts by using command but is pushing his luck fighting wolves with his two war hammers. He pushes a bit further with a dire wolf and a winter wolf. Nawgrim has a longbow and adds sleep or blindness when he can.

Bargain hunt
Peer has ankheg plate and a girdle of piercing. Nawgrim has bracers of archery, Algernon's cloak, a girdle of bluntness and two rings; protection +1 and wizardry. Also carrying Zhurlongs boots, no use to us.

Issues
Our book-keeping seems awry. For example, the jobs we have started or done are often not present, and we have made some strangely prophetic notes (a bit early for Scar to have been murdered or to say we've cleared Black Alaric's cave).

Quelle just got bored waiting for Nimbul to become visible, strayed too far from an exit and got charmed.  I can't compete with Dr Seuss, but thought I would have one more go at a halfling before trying a different game.  To give me a bit of extra motivation to play safe my aim this time will be to never take any damage and never have to save against a spell.

Verun, NE male human wild mage. With Stenky the imp familiar, Imoen,Viconia and Edwin.

Morvin and his opportunistic mercenaries fall to our spells, but we are hard pushed to finish them off. Viconia takes a rigid thinking so we blind all four enemies and switch to missiles.

Surge
Image IPB

Greywolf vs white wolf. Command makes it a one sided battle.
Image IPB

We purchase some level 2 spells for Edwin, with our spare cash we add level 3 spells too. We try our new buffs out.
Image IPB

A dangerous group of enemies
Viconia is killed by Baerin, but her last two acts were to silence our enemies and land a critical hit (32+1) on Lindin. Edwin has blinded Baerin while I drain Lindin. Edwin scares Kirian so I drain her too. Peter has been blinded first so we start on him and move on to Baerin. We kill him but two flinds have turned up.

Edwin gets cut down, and it is a long time until Imoen and I can finish the battle. Imoen runs around grabbing equipment and burdening me heavily. Once we have everything of value I cannot move. I prepare to dump the lot if we are attacked again, but a peaceful rest and a strength spell follow.

We dump the gear outside Beregost temple, spend 1000gp raising Edwin and Viconia and re-equip. This involves purchasing a sling, shield and missiles for these were items we could not carry.

Mutamin and his basilisks are next. Oops.
Image IPB

We're careful to rest and re-PfP a couple of times to clear the area.

Verun, wild mage 4. 25 kills, Drakar.
Imoen, thief 5. 40 kills, lesser basilisk.
Viconia, cleric 5. 31 kills, greater basilisk.
Edwin, conjurer 5. 10 kills, Peter.

I was just about to post a progress report on Peren, my new halfling entry. However, Nimbul saved me the trouble with some exceptional play. Up to that point she had successfully avoided any damage - using just 2 invisibility potions up during ambushes by archers.

Against Nimbul Peren tried a backstab, but a critical miss only hit thin air. She had charmed several guards as a distraction and left Nimbul while she went into the inn nearby. Despite her being stealthed and in a different area Nimbul killed 2 of the guards and then followed her. She nipped out and in again - he followed her out, but then busied himself with the other guards.

Once again, after killing them, Nimbul came into the inn. Peren's stealth had broken by then and she immediately left, with Nimbul following. She came back into the inn, while Nimbul starting casting a spell. Without bothering to interrupt his casting Nimbul followed her back into the inn and a charm connected for game over.

I could have used a potion of clarity to give protection against the charm, but there wasn't really any time between him appearing in the room and the spell being cast so couldn't react to it. I should probably have just sacrificed Peren's potion of magic shielding just to protect against that type of behaviour.

Verun, NE male human wild mage. With Stenky the imp familiar, Imoen,Viconia and Edwin.

Shoal the nereid is freed after raising Imoen from the dead. Droth the ogre mage casts a lightning bolt at Edwin who takes some damage despite his mirror images. Viconia commands Droth twice while my Larloch's stop his invisibility spells.

Sirines are no match for Viconia and her skeletons, until Viconia is confused and bashes one of the skeletons to pieces. She then wanders off leaving the remaining skeleton to buffer us from two sirines.

Sil and her sirines face three more skeletons, one buffed with strength by Edwin. Bless, strength and aid for the next group of skeletons as Imoen emerges from the shadows to help.
Image IPB

The second golem falls with two skeletons remaining.
Image IPB

The third flesh golem kills them both, but Imoen adds a trio of sneak attacks no backstab but helps THACO with hit and run.

It is time to purchase the shadow thief armour for Imoen, so most of our stored items are traded in. We purchase some potions with the change, leaving us short if we require another temple visit.

The path to Ulgoth's Beard proves dangerous for a trio of ankhegs. Edwin thinks he's the real deal with his many sets of magic missiles, but I have put two to sleep with Viconia commanding the third. Then it is time to play catch up the Thayvian.
Image IPB

Viconia calls her skeletons back while we test our next spells.
Image IPB

All in working order.
Image IPB

We have no money so borrow 980gp Little Pink Riding Hood takes it from Mendas the big bad wolf. She walks into Shandalar on the way back, and accepts the job he offers. What has she done to us?

Ice Island AKA IMOEN WHAT HAVE YOU DONE
Stenky is itching to go play with Andris and buddies but instead we send in a strengthened skeleton, blessed and aided. We wait at the entrance, and although the skeleton is dead the collateral damage is working.
Image IPB

Imoen thinks Beyn could be in trouble so evens things up. I cover my eyes, if she dies we're doomed in this place.
Image IPB

She's worked it out in the nick of time.
Image IPB

No she hasn't.
Image IPB

Just Beyn left now.
Image IPB

He Melfs Imoen as she runs. She glugs a potion and fails to hide but his dirty aura is about to prove fatal.
Image IPB

Garan Windspear doesn't fall for the Dinklemus Littlelog line and calls out his ankhegs then tries confusing our skeletons. Imoen and Viconia get confused so up to Edwin and myself then.

From bad
We lose the race to save Viconia, killing her ankheg.

To worse
Then we lose the race to save Imoen, killing her ankheg too.
Image IPB

I sink to my knees in despair and give up. Edwin kicks me as I snivel, and forces me back to my feet. I have limited spells left so he casts strength on me and suggests I cast Shield. As we attack a prone ankheg a blinded one jumps me. We glug oils of speed and kill it but I have been hit.
Image IPB

Edwin advances as I move away, casting horror as I glug. Then we attack, realising we have scared Garan.
Image IPB

He runs, and we dare not follow in case of traps. Instead we pick up the important gear Imoen and Viconia have dropped, then rest. We will miss the oils of speed but we had no choice.

Garen is with Cuchol, so we have to fight both of them. Our skulltraps help but they both cast confusion and we run away out of control. Cuchol follows and injures us both, by the time we recover he has improved invisibility. Edwin Mirrors as I Shield then we kill him the old fashioned way.
Image IPB

We rest again and chance our lives once more. I'm disruptive while Edwin is decisive, although we are both lucky to not get confused again.
Image IPB

Edwin breathes a sigh of relief as his mirror images foil a lightning trap. His ring and robe work against a fireball trap. My heart starts to lift, maybe we can get out of this hole.

I try to cast mirror images. Oops, but OK.
Image IPB

We're in no mood to fight Tellan, and convince him to help us. Phew.

A winter wolf is blinded and I sneak behind Dezkiel while Edwin lags behind. We manage to disrupt his attack.
Image IPB

Our next spells fail to disrupt his, but Edwin casts while confused. Dezkiel saves though.
Image IPB

I do what I can.
Image IPB

My next Larloch drains him, and I just have to watch Edwin for a few moments. Then we transport back, find a temple, raise the ladies and return to Shandalar for our reward.

Edwin and Viconia turn on Imoen, telling her it is bad enough travelling with a wild mage and she is never to do anything like that again. "Oh" says Imoen, "but I've just said we'll help Hurgan Stoneblade with some tower". I don't think so.

Verun, NE male human wild mage. With Stenky the imp familiar, Imoen, Viconia and Edwin.

Mulahey gets a brace of skulltrap spells, taking him to near death.
Image IPB

We start to cast spells but Imoen uses a single arrow instead.

Fireball, skulltrap and glyph of warding prove to be an interesting combination and I only wish Imoen could join in too but she is determined to hone her thieving skills first.
Image IPB

Nimbul is a laugh a minute. I am protected from horror and from magic missiles so he is no threat at all. Viconia is merrily commanding him while Edwin demonstrates magic missiles. I sort of do the same. Oops It's a black opal by the way.
Image IPB

Neira reacts badly to Larloch Magic Missile Command. Tranzig is the same. Ardenor Crush meets his match, although a dart from Edwin seals his fate.
Image IPB

Taugosz Khosann next, so I hand her the girdle of bluntness and she buffs further.
Image IPB

She critical chunks the first bandit (46), then dooms and attacks Taugosz. Edwin and I send his henchmen to sleep as he saves against command. He is blinded, unable to see our volleys of magic missiles. He hits Viconia so she retreats, failing to command him but succeeding with a hold. We finish them off quickly.
Image IPB

Venkt looks vulnerable. "Why don't you turn him invisible and mess up our spells to give him a chance?" jokes Edwin. Oops.
Image IPB

Viconia walks slowly to Hakt so that Raemon and Britik follow. The rest of us have de-mirrored Venkt and started again.
Image IPB

We're out of targeted spells and decide not to unleash fireballs, skulltraps or stinking cloud inside the tent. Raemon, Hakt and Britik are soon dead and Imoen discovers a secret mine hidden deep in Cloakwood.

Nawgrim/Gate70 and Peer/Grond0. Session 2 (run time approx 1h30. Total 3h30?)

Albert is relieved to have Rufie returned to him.
Sendai of Amn is lured to her death, allowing us to blind Alexander and Delgod.
Greywolf is susceptible to blind.
Meilum is also susceptible to blind.
Sarhedra(or similar) times how long we took to drop ogres, ogrillions and a pair of hobgoblin archers.
Hulric is relieved to see his cow (Arabelle?) saved from xvarts despite wolves and an ogrillion hampering us.

At Nashkel Mine we find Mulahey is the silenced type, making our job easier.
Nimbul is foiled once more by remove fear and Shield.
Tranzig suffers from command.

Landrin hands us six green potions as we return her belongings.
While there we obtain the golden pantaloons.

Bandit camp
Nawgrim gives Peer the boots of Avoidance; the gnome will hide behind the dwarf remember this statement...
Ardenor Crush is fighting blind as his hobgoblins take a nap.
Taugosz Khosann has to put up with web, blindness and stinking cloud.
We buff (chant, remove fear, shield) and enter the main tent.

It proves impossible for us both to arrive at the same time, with Nawgrim arriving several seconds late. Peer is dealing with Raemon and Britik so Nawgrim starts on Venkt. After a few moments Peer sees that Nawgrim is poisoned because Hakt had a line of sight on the gnome but not the dwarf.

Nawgrim thinks to move away, as he does Venkt casts Melfs Acid Arrow. Peer tells Nawgrim to leave the tent, but Britik blocks. Nawgrim was going to glug a green potion but priorities have changed and he glugs a blue potion then manages to leave with Britik in pursuit.

A second blue potion does the job and moments later Peer arrives to kill Britik. Nawgrim suggests they return inside to deal with Raemon, Venkt and Hakt. Peer laughs; he dropped all three before leaving the tent to kill Britik.

Reloads 0. Near misses 1 (bandit camp).

I think I've only had the one explosion and one gate so far. I was lucky both times that the party was spread out.

Verun, NE male human wild mage. With Stenky the imp familiar, Imoen, Viconia and Edwin.

Viconia becomes encumbered whenever we travel, so it is safer to leave her with ankheg armour instead of that taken from Taugosz Khosann.

Seniyad is killed, with Viconia avoiding any lightning damage thanks to her boots and helmet.

Cloakwood ettercaps seem to be allergic to skulltrap and fireball.

Tiber takes the body of Chelak back. We apologise for the embedded skulls and fire damage that we have added.

A wyvern cave looks intimidating. We start with fireball and skulltrap, then two more skulltraps which unfortunately also hit Viconia and myself. Viconia holds the line while the rest of us step back and finish the job.
Image IPB

Drasus laughs, as our buffs involve me polymorphing into a winter wolf. Oops. Drasus and Genthore have left their mages behind so blindness and horror are used against them. I recover to surge again. Despite Shield being cast I take damage assume target self ignores this protective spell. Drasus is down though.
Image IPB

Kysus and Rezdan take a fireball and walk into a skulltrap. Into Cloakwood mine, where Viconia is protected from fire, unlike Hareishan.
Image IPB

Viconia takes a critical so I add a second fireball to end the battle.
Image IPB

We rest outside the mines, then return to cast armour. Oops, wild colour changes very distracting as the glow changes constantly. We clear a path through the next level, then I heal Viconia. It surges, but casts normally with two fiery entrances appearing. We run in case they are gates...but nothing happens.

Another rest outside and we are able to return to the base of the mine. Viconia sends a skeleton in to greet Davaeorn, adding four more after a fireball is cast. Imoen turns up to help kill a pair of ettercaps and then the skeletons finish off Davaeorn. Imoen opens several chests while Viconia crushes a mustard jelly. After flooding the mine we memorise various new scrolls and identify a number of valuable items.

Imoen has read a tome of dexterity she needs it, glugged her thieving potion by mistake.

Desreta and Vay-ya reach entrophy thanks to haste/slow, horror, doom, command, magic missiles and arrows. I hand Viconia the ogre skin gauntlets.

Our reputation is concerning 17 so we shop and then deal with Algernon now 9 so a drop of 8.

Marek and Lothander have poisoned us. On our way to recovery we grab the Helm of Balduran for Viconia, retrieve the body of a child, mis-appropriate a tome of wisdom to Viconia and finding the wrong sphene gem for G'axir the Seer.

Larze doesn't realise we are buffed and hasted, although my final buff surged (refresh, handy). Doom, blindness, slow, command, Melf Acid Arrow, Magic Missile and a bit of melee/missile soon have him down.

Marek also gets Doom, Melf Acid Arrow, Magic Missile and blunt trauma from Ashideena.

Viconia grabs the shield offered by Varci Roaringhorn, then re-equips the armour taken from Taugosz Khosann and adds a ring of protection +1. Had a surge:pretty sparkles instead of Friends too.

Verun, wild mage 7. 107 kills, Garan.
Imoen, thief 7. 103 kills, Andris.
Viconia, cleric 7. 100 kills, greater basilisk.
Edwin, conjurer 6. 55 kills, Jalantha Mistmyr.

Cloakwood mine has been invaded. Hareishan is next.

Nawgrim was poisoned in Cloakwood 2. Glugged 2 blue potions then one green, careless.

Peer was held by the ghast near Yeslick. Nawgrim used a magic missile, but is thinking his weapon style was a bad idea, should have used Spiders Bane.

Favourite weapon: War hammer (Ashideena).

Nawgrim, fighter 5 / illusionist 4 (44xp off 5).

Verun, NE male human wild mage. With Stenky the imp familiar, Imoen, Viconia and Edwin.

Sunin and his guards are no match for our best buffs even before malison and slow hinder them further.

Vail and Quenash hand over the Cloak of Balduran.
Ragefast and Ramazith help us obtain another cloak, ring, tome and necklace.
Durlags Tower yields a second tome of wisdom for Viconia.
Ratchild and his kobolds are dead.
Carrion crawlers cheat by respawning behind us while fighting more of them. Imoen is held before we notice, but we manage to keep her alive. An ogre mage has (had) a veritable army of them.
Image IPB

Duke Eltan wants us to check out the Iron Throne HQ. We buff like never buffed before, then investigate the fifth floor. The battle is soon over text covers the decisive elements.

After a quick inventory check got all key items, stored anything not needed we tell Duke Eltan that Rieltar is in Candlekeep.

Soon afterwards we are arrested for the murder of Rieltar. I pretend to be innocent, and it works. Tethtoril releases us and we escape to a secret library BGEE should add the forgotten book here?

Edwin and I memorise a few spells as Viconia kills a ghast. Imoen is already removing traps and looting containers. Viconia reads a third tome of wisdom, while none of us particularly want the tome of strength. In the end I decide to use it so I can carry a bit more equipment.

Sakul crisps under two fireballs, his three companions crisping under the next pair, while Viconia takes minor lightning damage EDIT: Maybe not, screenshot clearly shows friendly fire....

Imoen sneaks up to Duke Eltan, while Viconia uses her boots to run around Benjy. Rashad the greater doppelganger has his mirrors dispelled by Viconia and his haste disrupted by Imoen. They resuce Duke Eltan and return to us with information from Tamoko. Amusingly Verun is levels up from doing nothing while Imoen and Viconia do not.

Slythe hits a brick wall.
Image IPB

Krystin is taking damage from Imoen and Viconia but in the end her own cloudkill beats us to it.

No mercy for Cythandria.
Image IPB

Duchal Palace coronation.
We buff and present our evidence. As the doppelgangers attack we cast slow, malison, emotion and horror. Oops.

Both Liia and Belt have survived makes a change

Nawgrim and Peer. Session 4 (run time just over 1h. Total 5h30?)

Cloakwood Mine
Yeslick and Rill are free, we take 3-4 goes to rest.

Hareishan falls to Peer and his war hammers. The guards succumb to sleep, blind, command and magic missiles. We make our way to the next level and kill the final guard. 3-4 more goes to rest.

A pair of battle horrors are slicing Peer up, but Nawgrim manages to blind them. Peer takes more injuries while Nawgrim empties his spellbook to kill one of the horrors. Two skeletons buffer us as Nawgrim joins Peer in melee. 2-3 failed rests, then a successful rest 2 floors up.

Peer braves the traps and Nawgrim foolishly stays too close. A skeleton from earlier has found Davaeorn and his mustard jelly, so Peer sends some more in. Once Davaeorn has cast a fireball Nawgrim confirms it is safe to attack and a war hammer disposes of the hapless mage.

With the mine flooded we rescue Melicamp, then kill Zargal and his two friends. Bassilus is next, falling to two hammer blows, two arrows and a skeleton summon.

On to the ankheg farm, where we retrieve a ceremonial bowl and return a body to Farmer Brun. Our time is up so we call it a night.

Peer, fighter 6 / cleric 6.
War hammer **, 2 weapon style ***, flail *.
180 kills, Davaeorn.
Favourite spell: Command.
Favourite weapon: War hammer (Ashideena now, was just a war hammer +1 last time).

Nawgrim, fighter 6 / illusionist 5.
Long sword **, Long bow **, single weapon style *, 2HS *
159 kills, Seniyad.
Favourite spell: Blindness.
Favourite weapon: Bow & arrows (Long bow of Markmanship).

Reloads: 0
Near misses: 2 (Bandit camp tent, Cloakwood 2 spider poison)
Other:
Realisation that Peer has been called Parr by mistake for much of these updates. Several posts edited.
Peer trying to fight the battle horrors bare-handed (after spell) until we noticed.

Just trying to imitate the traditional berserk fury of our front man - "Let me at them, I'll tear them apart with my bare hands!".

Improved alacrity and haste Corey. Down to 1 game now.....read on.

Verun, NE male human wild mage. With Stenky the imp familiar, Imoen, Viconia and Edwin.

Thieves Maze
Viconia tanks through jellies and slimes, and a pair of battle horrors. Two skeleton warriors are tougher but haste/bless/strength skeletons followed with backstabs and magic drop them, vampiric touch proving particularly effective (again, see later). Viconia has glugged two blue potions against this last pair though.

Rahvin
Viconia is buffed so stands next to Shaldrissa and casts silence 15'. She runs as she casts, escaping the effect. Edwin is on his second fireball while I have cast greater malison and am casting slow. Imoen is covering Gorf in arrows.
Image IPB

Haseo has hit Viconia for 15 but only Carston and Shaldrissa survive the next fireball. Carston survives two sets of magic missiles before Viconia hammers him, and Shaldrissa plays catch.
Image IPB

Tamoko delays us, then I delay us further. Oops.
Image IPB

Oops again.
Image IPB

Oops a third time. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE STOP yell the party.
Image IPB

Temple of Bhaal
Imoen uses a scroll of protection from magic, two rings of fire resistance, boots of speed, arrows of dispelling and hide in shadows.
Image IPB

Buffs. Scroll of protection from magic, potions of mind focusing, fire resistance, speed and power. Angelo is still being a pain and Imoen keeps missing, deciding to hide after glugging a potion of regeneration but as she does luck strikes.
Image IPB

She keeps on the move, wary of where Tazok is.
Image IPB

Viconia decides it is time to buff. As she approaches Sarevok she casts doom (works) while Imoen uses arrows of piercing THACO 1. I cast greater malison and move away from the party, then Edwin casts slow. Tazok appears, getting malisoned but not slowed. Sarevok is malisoned and slowed.

Viconia has to run, I cast blindness but legs go heavy instead no idea if this is my legs or his. Oops. Edwin blinds Tazok while Sarevok saves twice then from command. My next spell also surges but casts normally. Sarevok is Melfed.

Viconia commands Tazok, then she and Imoen lay into him. I cast magic missiles at Sarevok as Edwin Melfs him twice. Tazok gets up so Viconia moves away.
Image IPB

Viconia switches to bullets +2 and Sarevok soaks it up. Edwin switches to magic missiles too. I'm running low on spells so try something silly.
Image IPB

The conjurer strikes again before I can start my second vampiric drain.
Image IPB

Imoen and Viconia level up.

Verun, wild mage 8. 121 kills, Ramazith.
Imoen, thief 9. 133 kills, Andris.
Viconia, cleric 8. 159 kills, greater basilisk.
Edwin, conjurer 8. 74 kills, Jalantha Mistmyr. & Sarevok.

Nice work there Gate70 using what appears to be a "squishy" group. While I did get a group of cleric mages all through BG 1 (WITH quite a few close calls), using a caster heavy group is definitely not my preference. You going to have a squishy group in BG 2 too, Gate70?
