Gate70/Mayse. Female human Bhaalspawn ranger
Grond0/Khazad. Male dwarven berserker
Greywolf collapses, our last enemy to face the disadvantage of autopause (turned off after his death).
In Nashkel Mine Khazad rages into Mulahey while Mayse uses a sling from further away. Nimbul and Tranzig offer little resistance, then we help Samuel and Joia. Both characters take arrow damage at the bandit camp.
Taugosz Khosann is a laugh a minute. Mayse tries to target him with her sling but ends up running into melee range instead (mouse user error), then instead of running away admires her record screen (mouse error 2). She quickly returns to the action but has taken a hit (1hp left). Meanwhile Khazad has tried to intervene and only has 3 natural hp left plus 15 from his rage. Synchronised glugging of blue healing potions do the trick.

After that minor panic a rest is required. Mayse sneaks into the main bandit tent then Khazad turns up in a rage. Venkt is hit in a pincer movement then Mayse moves away to taunt Hakt instead. Khazad kills Venkt and the other three are felled one by one.
Mayse buys a potion of freedom for Cloakwood-2 but Khazad keeps it in his inventory and is webbed several times instead. He stubbornly refuses to get poisoned by ettercaps and soon has the area cleared.
Drasus gets mouthy but Khazad rages past him and into Rezdan. Mayse has hidden and whacks Kysus, forcing him to shadow door. She turns to Rezdan, and back to Kysus as he returns. Then back to Rezdan to help drop his mirror images. With the mages dead our attention moves to Drasus and finally Genthore.
Hareishan makes a late appearance and casts a lightning bolt, only to die after Khazad uses a firebreath potion (I think).
Mayse sneaks into a series of traps then retreats from Davaeorn and two battle horrors. it only takes four or five attempts to rest, then she returns to hammer Davaeorn from behind. She retreats round a corner and hides, the battle horrors following which leaves Davaeorn alone. Khazad rages and kills him, then Mayse hits the battle horrors and hides again, allowing us free access to the mine exit.
A brief trip to Ulgoths Beard (Cloak of Displacement, Greenstone Amulet), then we head to Baldur's Gate. Khazad reads a tome of dexterity, Mayse a tome of clear thought.
Desreta and Vay-Ya provide gauntlets for Mayse (edit: Mayse glugged a potion of clarity just as Vay-Ya's confusion reached her - no save registered so a timely glug & thanks to Grond0 for suggesting it over the greenstone amulet which wouldn't have activated in time) , Gretek and his maulers an axe for Khazad and our final action is to obtain the helms of Balduran and Glory.
Mayse has 14+7+9+10+14+8=62hp at level 6. 103 kills, greater basilisk.
Khazad has 15+9+12+11+13+15=75hp at level 6. 163 kills, Davaeorn.

I find a fighter with shield, decent armour and girdle of bluntness needs 60-70hp to reliably take 3-4 hits from one even if buffed.ArchDragonDranovis wrote...
Well, Riolin died a gruesome death at the hands of Flesh Golems. I went to the area more unprepared than I thought and got wiped out. Those things hit hard and are hard to hit. it is INSANE!

Gate70/Mayse. Female human Bhaalspawn ranger
Grond0/Khazad. Male dwarven berserker
Marek manages to confuse Mayse before expiring. Khazad plays target to stop her killing innocent gamblers and losing her ranger status. He then blocks her in a sideroom as she recovers.
The Iron Throne HQ sees buffs and a charge of the greenstone amulet. The mercenaries put up a decent fight but fail to distract us.

Our return to Candlekeep is brief, and Khazad turns to bashing containers during the catacombs escape. Then we track down Slythe and Krystin, killing them both and taking their evidence.
Strength, heroism and speed potions see the coronation assassination foiled, so we are sent after Sarevok through a thieves maze and into an abandoned undercity. Rahvin and his gang can rot waiting for us, as we detour through the southern ruins instead.
Protection from magic scrolls are used, then we buff. Mayse uses a bow for the first time, dispelling Sarevok and Semaj while Khazad axes Angelo. Angelo and Semaj manage to de-buff Mayse despite the scroll protection, so she steps back to start glugging more potions. Khazad axes Semaj as Mayse dispels Tazok (not sure he's buffed but what's an extra arrow). Mayse switches to sling/shield/hammer and distracts Sarevok so Khazad can carve Tazok into history.
Sarevok plays piggy-in-the-middle, not able to reach either of us and eventually the magical throwing axe rewards Khazad with another kill.

We already have the golden pantaloons packed for Amn, but have to detour for a tome of bodily health.
+1 Strength - Khazad.
+1 Dexterity - Khazad.
+1 Constitution - Mayse.
+1 Intelligence - Mayse (neither really benefit)
+3 Wisdom - Mayse.
=0 Charisma - not retrieved.
Mayse has 14+7+9+10+14+8+7+12=81hp at level 8 > 88 with con 19. 126 kills, greater basilisk. 162,031xp.
Khazad has 15+9+12+11+13+15+14+14=103hp at level 8. 218 kills, Angelo. 152,649xp.

Coresorc the Sorcerer continues his adventures...
Party experience: 112,000 each
Areas Battled: too many to mention
Traveling with:
Minsc, level 7 ranger, 57 HP - most powerful vanquished - greater basilisk
Imoen: level 9 thief, 54 HP - most poweful vanquished - vampiric wolf
Coresorc: level 8 sorcerer, 42 HP - most powerful vanquished - battle horror
The party has destroyed a great number of enemies on the Sword Coast. Some highlights:
1) Minsc cleared most of the Basilisk map by himself. The party assisted with Kirian's group. Although really, Coresorc did all the work. Coresorc put Minsc invisible, then Minsc creeped up and saw the enemy party. Coresorc did web x2 then fireballs...Kirian's group could do nothing. Minsc used a potion of magic protection against Mutamin. Coresorc got his first level 4 pick, he picked malison (thinking way ahead for battle with Sarevok...) He got several uses of it soon, so don't regret the pick.

2) Bandit camp - yet again, I can't seem to get here unless I join the bandits. In any case, we looted the place blind, sold then returned. For Tazok's tent, the familiar put the party invisible, Coresorc did resist fear and Minsc used potion of fortitude. Once inside the tent, Minsc got the attention of the melees, Imoen backstabed Venkt the mage, and Coresorc assisted Imoen with magic missiles. As it turned out, Coresorc didn't need to help Imoen, as she slew him with a firebreath potion before Coresorc's magic missiles could even hit. Then Coresorc blinded the hobgoblin archer. Minsc has just been a terror with his two scimitars, destroying most opposition quickly. Success! Cloakwood next target, but we need more cash and experience first...
3) Coresorc pretty much soloed Molkar and his buddies web, greater malison, web and then a few fireballs. Minsc did kill one, but that's only because Coresorc couldn't be bothered using a fireball on a held enemy that was near death.

4) Finally, the trio had enough to get Coresorc his robe of the good archmagi. Now that Coresorc no longer needed his bracers, the trio headed to Firewine Bridge. We encountered a "famous swordsman" Melium - he challenged us, which was a bad mistake on his part as he was immediately blinded and pecked to death with missile weapons. Next was Karhk. We have no summons at all. So instead, the plan was to buff Minsc to the max, and Imoen and Coresorc just plinked away with their magical ranged ammo. As expected, Karhk wasted time with spells on Minsc, and eventually his defenses were whittled away, and Minsc got a critical and ended Kahrk's resistance.

5) Imoen wasn't too far form level 9 at this point and Coresorc belatedly realized the valley of the tombs still wasn't deal with. The amazon assassins couldn't resist web + greater malison.

The rest of the map was not difficult at all with the party's levels and equipment.
The party will attempt to brave the Cloakwood forest in the next session.

I have just installed a new mod, Dark Horizons, and deliberately did not read the readme as it was obvious it was going to tell me where all the bad guys are. I like the surprise even if I end up dead.
Diary of Profound Thinker, Cleric/ Illusionist Svirfneblin: Str 18, Dex 19, Con 17, Int 19, Wis 18, Cha 2.
After Gorion and I were ambushed, I was ambushed by ettercaps and then improved spiders on the way to The Friendly Arms and once I had arrived there a mage attacked me. At least the mage is now dead, even if I had to flee the others. Fortunately my magical resistance enabled me to escape the spiders. I continued northward in an attempt to escape the threat and battled hobgoblins on the way.
I headed northward from the Ankheg area to deal with an evil priestess, but was attacked by yet another assassin and killed.
He/she was tough. I must have sanctuary or similar remembered in future, or have a party.
Dark Horizons has been installed this week, and it adds some tough cookies to the game.
The Diary of Verdant, a Half-Orc Fighter/Cleric. Stats all maxed-out except charisma minimum.
Upon leaving the site of the ambush, as suggested by Gorion, I headed for the Friendly Arms Inn. I then went to find Joia’s ring and doing a little diversion, ended up helping an evil priestess against even more evil fishermen. At that point I became a better fighter. I headed south to Nashkel, where, after speaking to Noober, I was asked by Oublek to find some missing emeralds
I headed back to Beregost to clear Landrin’s house. I used command to reduce the numbers that I was fighting, but still had two fighting me as I retreated away from them and into an inn. They even followed me upstairs, where I asked Algernon for help. When it was not forthcoming, I charmed him. Sadly he died in the conflict, but so did the spiders. Whilst I was sad about his demise, I was pleased to find a useful cloak in his possession. I acquired it for my own use.
(Admittedly, this was planned)
I charmed a Morninglord and a Morninglord Guard to help against the spiders. However, when talking to #, he asked me to do another task. I agreed, but when I discovered that the task was murder, I changed my mind. Silke attacked, and the Morninglord Guard and the Morninglord were killed by her whilst I was sanctuaried. By that time, she had only one spell left and as a result, was able to defeat her. On the bodies of my allies, I found some good armour, a good shield, a good sling, and a good war hammer. I won’t need to buy equipment for a while!
(Strangely enough, I was not trying to get them killed, though the fact that they died was beneficial).
I then headed for the spiders and managed to kill them all singlehanded due to my new equipment.
I then proceeded north in search of an ogre that I had heard about. I came across gibberlings on the way and used “command” to good effect. By buffing, I was powerful enough to defeat the ogre.
Heading south, I beat up some ogrillon, hobgoblin, ghouls and ghasts. I avoided conflict with the flaming fist and killed” Tristan und Isolde”, friends of some guy called Wagner apparently. No, not Robert!
At Nashkel carnival I was Dire Charmed by an evil mage who saved against ALL my spells.
The end
Diary of Firehammer, Aasimar Berserker: Str 18, Dex 18, Con 18, Int 18, Wis 19, Cha 4. War Hammer ****
Despite being an Aasimar, my charisma was such that I could never be a Paladin. However I have an aptitude in the fighting department, particularly with hammers. My wisdom is exceptional, so I am intending to become a cleric eventually.
After Gorion and I were ambushed, I headed to The Friendly Arms and once I had arrived there a mage attacked me. The mage is now dead. I continued northward in an attempt to escape the threat of assassins and battled some hobgoblins on the way.
I headed northward from the Ankheg area to deal with an evil priestess, but upon learning the truth helped her against Sonner and party who are now dead.
I also helped a woman restart her life after her dead husband refused to move out.
Travelling between areas I have fled from several large groups of gnolls.
Hopefully I might survive a bit better in this game.

Back-track to free the Cloakwood Mine slaves, then flood the mine.
Baldur's Gate
Desreta and Vay-ya are the first to be brought to justice.
Potion of Freedom used while dealing with Ramazith's tower.
Sold the boots of Grounding and Avoidance, only need Speed.
Bracers stashed while gauntlets of ogre strength used.
Pick up the helm of Balduran.
Kill Jalantha Mistmyr, retrieving tome of wisdom and large shield +1/+4 vs missiles.
Return to pick up the geas scroll (duh) and cure Lothander.
Use 3 healings and a potion to paste Larze.
Kill Marek and sell his gear.
Help Aldeth Sashenstar and obtain Kondar.
Ice island : 150k xp so no more levelling up
Mind focusing, protection from magic scroll to counter traps and mages. Added frost giant strength.
Tellan agrees to help me, and I soon have everything else dead.
Shandalar disappears after taking his cloak.
Lycanthrope hunting
I buff to enter Karoug's lair. Frost giant strength, heroism, speed.
Dradeel mentions vampiric wolves - potion of invulnerability (-2 paralyze, 1 petrify).
Killing order is vampiric wolves, wolfweres, others.
Kondar for wolfweres, Varscona for others.
Entrance - one hit. A second vampiric wolf is by the stairs.

Second level. Not missing the cloak of Balduran and Golden Girdle but taking critical hits. After the fight I glug a potion of regeneration and one healing, then track down a vampiric wolf and wolfwere that were hiding.

Third level. A pair of vampiric wolves and two wolfweres. One more wolfwere lurking.

Fourth level - Karoug. I have cast Protection from Evil, then target Daese. With her dead I turn to Karoug. His regeneration is brutal but I manage to kill him (2 misses and 12 hits).

The pack are next, then I glug fire resistance and absorbtion potions to loot the ship on my way out. Dradeel clears off, leaving me to make my own way back.
Kaishas Gan
I'm met by a pack of werewolves, so I can put the sword of Balduran to good use. I kill a few (not interested in xp farming so just the direct path), and escape into caverns and from there to a sheltered cove. My buffs have expired but I have glugged healing potions - which turns out to be a wise decision.

Frost giant strength and Protection from Evil are his undoing, likewise for Baresh.

EndgameOne set of buffs to cover this lot.
Mind focusing > protection from magic scroll.
Storm Giant > Fire Resistance > Absorbtion > Heroism > speed. (hindsight - fire/absorbion not needed)
Iron Throne HQ
Zhalimar Cloudewulf manages a single hit to prevent it from being a one-sided battle.
Candlekeep
Duke Eltan teleports me to Candlekeep with buffs intact. A brief word with Koveras, then I am arrested on a trumped up murder charge. Tethtoril frees me and I immediately grab two tomes, a ring, cloak, scrolls and a rogue stone.
A series of doppelgangers are sliced apart, as are Prat and his gang. His throwing axe looks handy so I keep it beside Kondar and Varscona. The speed potion has worn off and I have glugged five minor healing potions so a mirrored eyes potion is enough to defeat two greater basilisks. Diarmid runs away and I am free.
A potion of invisibility gets me in to Duke Eltan. Benjy shouts after me on the way out but I only stop briefly to chat with Tamoko. I rest twice (2 x DUHM abilities received) before tracking down Slythe. I use DUHM to chunk him then rest again.
Coronation
Cloud Giant strength, heroism, absorbtion and speed against six greater doppelgangers. Somehow both dukes survive.

Sarevok at the coronation
I miss twice with my throwing axe but Sarevok gets the message and leaves. Belt sends me after him, so I dump the invites and buy a potion of power.
Thieves Maze
Hack, slash. I'm immune to fire and electricity so soften up a pair of skeleton warriors before slicing them apart.
Undercity
Protection from Evil and DUHM agains Rahvin's party. With my other buffs still active I manage to kill Shaldrissa as Wudei casts hold person. I tug the Greenstone Amulet and change targets.

Tamoko is guarding the entrance to an abandoned temple. After chunking her I switch armour (allowing two rings of fire protection).
Sarevok in the abandoned temple
Mind focusing > protection from magic scroll. Sarevok attacks, as does Angelo while Semaj teleports. Their de-buffs have triggered so I glug a potion of invisibility and move away to buff.
Storm giant strength, heroism, invulnerability, power and speed are glugged. Angelo is shooting arrows of detonation so I kill him, taking two in return from Sarevok. I've glugged a regeneration potion too.

Sarevok is too quick for me to stand still, meaning Tazok is still hidden. I try to entangle Sarevok but end up with a battle horror joining in as Semaj dies.

Tazok finally appears (he hits for 12 as Sarevok hits for 17) so I can continue moving again. The battle horror is immune to my axe so Tazok is next.

I switch to Varscona and drag Sarevok around, returning to hit the battle horror in melee. Each strike erupts in a cold glow, allowing me to time the hits better and the fourth one leaves Sarevok alone.
After hitting several times with my axe I switch to Varscona and use the length of the temple to cast DUHM but Sarevok is too quick and disrupts my casting. I run, glugging regeneration and invisibility potions before returning with a final DUHM active.
We trade blows briefly, I hit him six times and he hits me five (potions being glugged to stay alive). He's hitting hard and I have to run. My haste wears off so I glug another oil then five or so healing potions. I position myself photogenically and turn to melee, ready to run again if necessary but Sarevok has taken too many hits.

Greenstone Amulet
Charge 5 dealt with Vay-ya.
Charge 6 dealt with Wudei.
Charge 7 dealt with Tamoko.
I have my pantaloons packed and with 389 kills (Angelo) I am ready to return to Belt for my next mission.
Cavalier level 8, 413k xp so will need to console that down in SOA.

Diary of Firehammer, Aasimar Berserker: Str 18, Dex 18, Con 18, Int 18, Wis 19, Cha 4. War Hammer ****
After Gorion and I were ambushed, I headed to The Friendly Arms and once I had arrived there a mage attacked me. At least the mage is now dead. I continued northward in an attempt to escape the threat and battled some hobgoblins on the way.
I headed northward from the Ankheg area to deal with an evil priestess, but upon learning the truth helped her against Sonner and party who are now dead.
I also helped a woman restart her life after her dead husband refused to move out.
Upon returning to the Friendly Arms, I defeated some more hobgoblins and returned a ring to Joia. At that point I gained grandmaster in hammers. I dualled to cleric, choosing slings and sword and shield as proficiencies. As I am no longer proficient in hammers, I switched my melee weapon to the +1 flail that was on Sonner’s body.
Bentley suggested that I head to Nashkel which I did, but I quickly discovered that I was out of my league when I heard about the troubles there. I therefore headed back to Beregost where I thought that I could at least manage to clear Landrin’s house of spiders. On the plus side I gained proficiency in healing after a strange dream, and found some nice bracers and a pearl. On the return journey I was given a ring which to some extent mitigates my poor charisma.
In Beregost I helped Marl come to terms with his son’s death and did some shopping for Firebead. I have now become a level 2 cleric which has enabled me to learn an additional spell.
I headed north and fought gibberlings and xvarts. The battle being quite prolonged. I was then attacked by an ogre upon whom I cast flame strike. By the time it struck, he was far too close for comfort, but it killed him before he was able to strike.
Heading south I used flame strike to kill two ogrillon and a Flaming Fist Mercenary. This involved a lot of sleeping, as I can only use the spell once a day, but it enabled me to clear much of the road. In the process, I gained a suit of plate armour and a ring of protection, the latter being a present for bringing news of her husband to a worried wife.
I then tried to clear Landrin’s house, but when I saw the size of the spiders, I used command so that not all of them would follow.
However despite using the spell two followed me all the way to Algernon’s bedroom. I used flame strike to kill one and charmed Algernon with my ring. He attacked from one side, and I from the other. Sadly he died of poison, but I managed to survive the assault.
I picked up Algernon’s cloak, and got it identified at the temple. This enabled me to charm a Morninglord who aided me against the other spiders. To my surprise he too died. However before he did, he was able to kill one and badly wound the other which I killed with flame strike.
Picking up his armour and weapons, my equipment is now far better and feel much safer; though am well aware that spells from spiders or mages could be deadly.
With this in mind I charmed a Morninglord and Morningmaster to fight Silke. I sanctuaried myself until she had used her spells. I then helped out but was too late to help the Morninglord, but the Morningmaster survived.
I hope that she doesn’t turn nasty later when she realises that I charmed her, as I wouldn’t want to kill her. In the process of these battles, I regained my fighting powers and am therefore not as vulnerable as I have been.
(I am now in a quandary. One part of me wants to solo and the other wants me to have a party. I think that I will play two games from this point starting with the solo one. )
I went to deal with Bassilus but on the way was attacked by a wolf and two dread wolves. They were not too difficult to deal with, but I ended up having to return to High Hedge to get Melicamp restored. I gave Perdue his sword and then returned to Bassilus. He was resistant to charm and conjured two mountain bears. Fortunately the second time round, Bassilus was charmed and killed one of the bears with Flame strike. The other bear hurt me badly and we had great difficulty in killing it as it was exceedingly powerful.
The next day we cleared the area easily. What was not so easy was killing Bassilus afterwards, but since I was ready for the battle, it was not too difficult. I started by casting Flamestrike on him at the same time as he cast it upon himself. After that he healed himself, but soon ran out of potions.
I then went to return Landrin’s possessions before heading south again. Whilst at the Friendly Arms I was offered an upgrade for the belt of piercing. It was way out of my price range and I know that another upgrade is available at High Hedge, but that requires a lot more belts.
I ran into Tristan und Isolde, and killed one instantly with Flamestrike. The other died slower. They had excellent weapons, and I clearly used the Flamestrike on the correct one! It is a pity that I cannot use their weapons.
I wonder if I will come across Brunhilde next? Or perhaps she should be there singing when Sarevok dies.
I returned to Beregost for a rest.

Coresorc and Minsc and Imoen are still adventuring. Coresorc made his last level of the game, clearing area 4 of the Cloakwood. He chose mirror image, group haste (no idea which level 3 spell I needed, thought that could come in handy at some point), and MGoI.
We are choosing NOT to clean out the wyvern's nest - reason why, is if Imoen gets chunked, Coran is who I'd like to replace her with. This way, we can always do his quest if he ends up joining. Oddly enough, we've run into very few Cloakwood ambushes so far - just as well, they are a bit dangerous, though the party seems capable.
Drassus and friends will be dealt with tomorrow, most likely with web, greater malison, web and lots of fireballs/ranged fire.

Thus far he hasn't used any items, other than 3 or 4 healing potions and the green scroll referred to below. He mainly relied initially on throwing axes, but is starting to use his staff a bit more now. Summary of progress as follows:
- cut down Shoal to get a couple of early levels.
- after travelling without incident down to Nashkel, saved a cow from some xvarts.
- purchased a green scroll to tackle the basilisk area. As his aim is still so poor with his axes he did a preliminary run to drop a supply cache. Even with that though his axes ran out after killing the first 3 or 4 basilisks and he had to rely on nipping in to hit them while they were using a gaze weapon. After dealing with all the separated ones he recruited Korax - who quickly paralysed Mutamin and his tame basilisks. I tried to send Korax after the party as well, but some gnolls and a cave bear interfered and Dej left them alone.
- before going down in the mine Dej thought he would see how vulnerable Greywolf was to a staff assault. The answer proved to be not enough and Dej had to run him round sniping with axes to finish him off.
- after working his way through kobolds (resting a couple of times to heal arrow damage) Dej arrived at Mulahey's cave. Leaving the first time dragged a number of his supporters out - they were easily finished off as they could not all attack at once. Dej then went in and out several times dodging Mulahey's spells before connecting with a critical.
- emerging from the mine back entrance Dej went down to give the revenant back his dagger and get a couple of potions for emergencies from the tomb.
- he sneaked up on Nimbul as far as possible in order to be close to the inn door, but no escape was needed this time as Nimbul was comprehensively chunked with his first blow.
- the basic plan of approach with Tranzig was the same, but I got a bit careless with Tranzig and mistimed one of the exit transitions. That allowed Tranzig (operating by script) to follow him while in the middle of a lightning bolt spell and fire it off (the bolt damage only taking effect as he moved back through the door the other way). Dej also was rather poor with his staff after Tranzig was out of spells, so actually got hit twice before eventually finishing him off.
- while in the area Dej did a few more tasks in Beregost, including getting Karlat out of the way with a quick kai assault.
- Dej then travelled up to the Friendly Arm (taking a fair amount of damage from Deke's bandits on the way). Tarnesh was another to go down to the first blow of the combat.
- Dej has now arrived at the bandit camp. Here are his current stats.

I then went to the coast where I fought the sirene and came away wealthier. I then helped the archaeologist and upon leaving with an idol killed the doomsayer.
I then took Brage to the temple and headed south where Galtok and I killed Greywolf.
Prism died, and upon returning to Nashkel, I gave Oublek the emeralds. Oublek was then charmed and we fought a baby wyvern which I killed. I then took the emeralds from Oublek’s corpse.
I was accused of killing a pet grass snake, but it was all sorted out and I went inside the inn where I was forced to kill another assassin.
I then cleared the Nashkel to Beregost road of bandits and went to High Hedge for some shopping.
I headed south again and rescued Rufie and a cat, helping a dryad as well. Killed the fastest dart thrower in the west and proceeded to the Gnoll stronghold where I found a tome amongst other things. On the way out I was ambushed by more assassins. I continued on my way but was forced to fight. The first two enemies were easy to defeat, but as I attacked a thief who had appeared out of nowhere, a mage cast confusion on me. I continued to attack and the thief died. The mage cast fire arrow whereupon I attacked him. Afterwards I ran about for a while until the spell wore off.
(That battle was completely unexpected, and I could not have fought it better if it had been planned. If I had known what to expect, all I would have done differently would have been to buff up beforehand with chant, bless, draw upon holy might etc. but it would have been unnecessary.)
I then went to the Firewine ruins and got some bracers from Melium.
However, I then became overconfident and took on Khaark. That should have waited until I was a bit strong...
Afterwards I realised that if I had used some potions or charmed Melium so that he took the brunt of the spells from Khaark, (Or even done both) I might have survived.

Norgil, solo shapeshifter.
Int 18. Wis 18. Cha 18.
Str 9. Dex 12. Con 16. Not planning to see them much.
Notes on shapeshifter. I find he stops moving when hit. Also he gets blocked easier than any other character so can be slow to bypass melee attackers and reach the ranged attackers. OK most of the time but Cloakwood Mine could be fun.
Candlekeep
I bound from task to task, nobody worried in the slightest about the werewolf in their midst. I limit my appetite to a quintet of rats and a brace of assassins.
Life without Gorion
After a brutal ambush I am left to my own devices. I decide to help Marl, Firebead, Samuel, Joia, Brage, Oublek, Mirianne and Melicamp (he died).
Either Rufie doesn't like me or a nearby xvart has spooked him. I decide to run away.

I manage to kill Caldo, but Krumm forces me away. After a rest I return to kill him and devour their corpses. I help Drienne and snack on a winter wolf. Then I over-indulge on Gnarl and Hairtooth.
They almost keeps me going until I reach Ulgoths Beard but an ankheg is just too tasty to pass up. After purchasing a cloak of displacement and greenstome amulet I sate my hunger on a slow ogre just north of Beregost.
Nashkel mine
Mmm. Kobolds and spiders, my favourite. Mulahey calls for more kobolds, yum. I pick my teeth clean with a sextet of skeletons then prepare (Goodberries, Bless, AoF, Greenstone Amulet 1 for Mulahey, calling HIM a foul beast.

Nimbul mirror images so I use a second greenstone amulet charge and his horror spell is useless. My first hit scares him witless but he casts Magic Missile. A second hit obliterates him and I deftly catch several pieces in my mouth before they land. A few seconds snouting around and the rest of him is devoured too.
I play a bad hand against Tranzig, glugging a potion of clarity (no need) then three healing potions as he casts Melf Acid Arrows and Magic Missiles. Still, I'm alive and feasting on his remains.
Bandit camp
The arrows arrive thick and fast but are badly aimed (-17 to rolls thanks to girdle, boots and cloak). The Chill hobgoblins are effective, their shortswords (+3 to rolls) and forcing me to heal after killing only three of them. Time to roll out doom, entangle and call lightning.

Taugosz Khosann takes doom, two entangles, insect summons and two call lightnings. He's near death but I have no darts or sling to finish him. Once the entangles have worn off I take two hits to kill him but this sees me healing twice and glugging a trio of potions. Credus and the remaining bandits are little danger in comparison.
Bandit tent
I am buffed but a third greenstone amulet charge plus five healing potions have been consumed before Venkt dies. Raemon has switched to melee so I start taking hits. I have to run outside, casting minor healings as I go.
Raemon is faster than Britik and even badly wounded he is a danger so I doom him. My slow casting means he closes in to disrupt three spells in a row. I transform again and tear him apart before doing the same to Britik and Hakt.

I thought I would have another go at seeing if I could get a solo kensai to dual to thief in BG2. This one only has proficiency in staff; the idea there being to maximise future backstab damage, although that does make BG1 rather more difficult.
Is this run a some kind of test, I wonder? As I'm sure you know that Daj couldn't dual to anything (as being Dwarf). In any case - safe journeys to him
@Gate: stay focused and don't allow the beast blood overwhelm you!

If you are wanting a kensai/thief dwarf, you could start off with such a character in BG1 using Shadowkeeper to do it only it would be multi-class rather than dual-class.
I am trying again with the starting character of my last run, only this time perhaps I will live up to my name.
I am limiting the use of Algernon's Cloak to once per day. Meaning once between sleeps
Until I got to the Friendly Arms it was virtually the same game as my last run. taking it up from there:
Upon returning to the Friendly Arms, I defeated some more hobgoblins and returned a ring to Joia. At that point I gained grandmaster in hammers. I dualled to cleric, choosing slings and sword and shield as proficiencies. As I am no longer proficient in hammers, I switched my melee weapon to the +1 flail that was on Sonner’s body. I headed towards The Friendly Arms Entrance, and once I had arrived there a mage attacked me. He cast sleep on me as I cast sanctuary. He got in one blow before sanctuary took effect so I lost 8 HP. I slept and entered the inn where he had fled from the guards. I cast command and then Flame Strike. He died.
I then tried to clear Landrin’s house, but when I saw the size of the spiders, I used command so that not all of them would follow.
However despite using the spell one followed me all the way to Algernon’s bedroom. I charmed Algernon with my ring. He was in the doorway so I was able to attack it with my sling without any danger to myself. Sadly he died of poison, but I managed to survive the assault by using flame strike to kill it .
I picked up Algernon’s cloak, and got it identified at the temple. I then slept at an inn before going looking for the spiders again. I charmed a Morninglord who aided me against the other spiders. To my surprise he too died. I killed another spider with flame strike before fleeing the area so that I could don the armour. What amazed me, is that his colleagues did not rush to help him!
My equipment is now far better and feel much safer; though am well aware that spells from spiders or mages could be deadly.
With this in mind I charmed a Morninglord with my ring and a Morningmaster with my cloak to fight Silke. I sanctuaried myself until she had used her spells. The charm on the Morninglord expired before Silke did, but I then helped out and was able to help the Morningmaster to survive. Sadly she did not survive a subsequent attack by a spider which I killed with difficulty.
I did not use the cloak to charm another Morninglord to fight the last spider as having slept, I was able to kill it with Flame Strike.
(I also didn’t need any more armour or weaponry.)
