Good luck Grond0, sounds like a fun party. And yes Gate70, in BG 2, Reklan will be a Kensai/Thief.

Actually, he won't – kensai cannot be chaotic. I once made the same mistake and resorted to using Gate Keeper.

Doh! Hmmm...yep might need to use Gatekeeper then. Lawful and Neutral OK for a Kensai?

Bogwad the LN Male gnome cleric/illusionist

Belt asks if we can do a little job in Amn for him. A free holiday mean grins all round until Imoen refuses as she wants to perfect her snares first. Selfish or what, but we have all this magical ammunition to protect ourselves.

Instead we head to Ulgoths Beard in search of an island holiday. Minsc insists on talking to Shandalar and we are teleported to an isle surrounded by ice instead. Khalid and Jaheira are upset, getting confused by the locals (Andris and buddies) but we settle in and wait for them to relax.

Minsc goes berserk when Garan and his ankhegs attack a charmed polar mountain bear (shome mishtake, shurely?) Cuchol re-activates his rage but Minsc kills the mage, a winter wolf  and then the charmed bear before chasing a summoned nymph. She just manages to keep out of his way and then we continue.

Tellan agrees to help us and is true to his word. Dezkiel is soon dead and we return to Shandalar, and then on to Mendas. He is tight-fisted so Imoen takes a look around his house to make it worth our while. The extra cash just about covers a bar tab so we are soon back with a sea chart, and set sail for a mysterious island.

By the time we find Kaishas Gan Minsc has already agreed to help her. Perhaps I ought to take the boots of speed away from him before he drags us into too much more trouble. By the time I work this out he's agreed to help Maralee, Evalt, Farthing, Delainy and Lahl. We head north, encountering wolfwere packs which fall quickly to our magical weapons I normally melee these, amazing how much the magical arrows, darts and spells help. Minsc berserks a sirine queen after negotiating for the return of a dead man, and Jaheira switches from darts to scimitar for a change they need re-equipping too often.

An elven mage called Dradeel wants us to find his spellbook, so we agree. I set out our roles. Imoen will deal with traps and locks while I will help Khalid and Dynaheir guard the ship entrance. Minsc looks puzzled until Jaheira explains that leaves two of them to fight their way in. My plan works and the base of the ship is soon under our control. As we rest under the watchful eye of Dradeel we decide our backpacks are too full so we should potion up a bit.

The plan doesn't really work, with Jaheira almost killed. Minsc glugs a heroism potion and starts the third level alone. Once the enemies have packed around him we join in, then buff him some more for the fourth level. Start as you mean to go on.

Dradeel makes a sharp exit, leaving us to return and fight a village of werewolves. We kill many but by no means all of them, then track down Kaishas Gan and kill her too. Now, who's got the charts? Nobody. The charts in inventory have gone and Kaishas had none, now I have to try and find a set somewhere - but suspect this run has just come to a grinding halt. Edit, just tried an earlier save and Kaishas takes them when she disappears so assume her not dropping them when she dies (chunked) is the issue.

Hmmm...Bogwad...is bogged down..on an island? Be sad to end a no-reload because you can't return to the main land, and not character death...

As I have a recent save game (just before Kaishas Gan turns hostile) I decide to try it again with the same dialogue options.

Minsc sights. He slaughtered the werewolf clan last time, and he'll slaughter them again. We kill a similar number to last time by taking the same route, and then deal with Kaishas Gan. SHE HAS THE CHARTS so I'm claiming a quirk and continuing unless anybody disagrees.

Mendas becomes Selaad, and our weapons have no effect. Imoen smirks as a snare bites both our opponents. We kill Baresh then Jaheira notices her dagger is effective against Selaad so we need cold iron weapons. Minsc uses the sword of Balduran while Khalid has the Kondar sword. Dynaheir and I cast magic missiles while Imoen checks our strategy for errors. There are none although Minsc has glugged a blue potion to reduce the pain.

Belt asks again if we can do a little job in Amn for him and Imoen once more declines XP is now around 103-106k. There are odd bits of work around but only Durlags Tower will contain suitable reward. The courtyard and walls are first, then a ghost called Daital. Minsc berserks a succubus called Kirinhale and as we scatter from him Dynaheir is not quick enough. Minsc recovers as he hits her for the second time, and instantly cries for justice. Idiot but funny.

I don't object Gate70 -- it would be kind of bizarre to think that the developers intended that you could chunk Kaishas and lose the chart and be unable to return. And Minsc killing Dynaheir, then instantly crying out for justice, is pretty funny. In BG 2 quest items like that go to the PC when a NPC that is carrying them gets chunked.

By the way, my family is at the fair, possibly all day, so I will have a lot of time tonight to work on my human fighter, so probably update later.

Enjoy your run then Corey. Bogwad the LN Male gnome cleric/illusionist

Nalin takes 800gp and raises Dynaheir. Imoen seems chirpy enough as we descend into the basement of Durlags Tower it has been a long time but I have done this tens of times over the years (maybe into 3 figures) so hope I'm not too rusty and this will be the first time with magical arrows and potions liberally used.

Half way through the first level Minsc gets bored and glugs a couple of potions (stone giant, absorbtion) partly to use the strength one and partly to counter heavy hitting flesh golems. Imoen has set six snares, killing Avarice good, I hate Avarice and badly wounding Pride and Fear. Next to fall is Love then Fear with Pride last to succumb. Khalid enjoyed an oil of speed, Imoen wasted hers and transfers the ring of freedom to Jaheira so she can shoot arrows faster in future.

Sarasti, level 8 solo Sorceress

Today Sarasti, armed with Magic Missiles and a flashlight, delved into Nashkel Mines. Kobold arrows proved to be a mere nuisance thanks to her AC -12 vs. missile, Shield and Mirror Image, while Melf's Minute Meteors took care of the pesky critters themselves.
Mulahey's minions got stuck in Web (cast in advance) immediately after appearing but Sarasti didn't have any AoE damage spells available and killing them one-by-one was too slow and risky. Instead she left the skeletons webbed and led Mulahey outside his cave where two hungry Giant Spiders had been waiting for their mistress. Even evil clerics have trouble casting spells while poisoned. Poor guy.

Lamalha's party in the Valley of Tombs put up much more resistance and even managed to kill all three spiders using Rigid Thinking and arrows/darts. Sarasti was relatively safe with Mind Shield, Free Action and all available protection spells active so she just bombarded them with Webs and MMs. Narcillicus and his nasty magic resistant Mustard Jellies had to be left alone - I have no idea how to reliably kill them with a level 8 spellcaster.

A short stop in Nashkel to give Mulahey's head symbol to the mayor, sell loot, buy more spider snacks, and off to Beregost we go. Another would-be evil mage Tranzig suffered an extreme case of arachnophobia, fumbling all his spells in process. Sarasti was very sorry but couldn't help. While being in Beregost she realized that she had forgotten to investigate Bassilus & Co, so she headed south-west. It was going to be an epic battle between two spellcasters worthy a song: spells flying in both directions, zombies, skeletons, undead squirrels. Instead Bassilus meanly failed his save vs. spell, panicked and ran away. Even the spiders were too slow to catch up with him. Bringing the slighly charred Bassilus' Symbol to the Morning Song Temple left Sarasti with level 9, Stoneskin, Melf's Acid Arrow and Skull Trap. Giant Spiders got upgraded to Phase Spiders and learned how to teleport around. The Amazing Jumping Spider Circus was now officially open.

Bandit Camp was the first place for Sarasti and her 8-legged troupe to perform. Hasted spiders were jumping around the camp while Sarasti was staying behind, gathering loot and occasionally throwing meteors. Raemon & friends were lured outside their tent and quickly killed one after another - having to face several enemies at once in close quarters is rarely a good idea, especially when you are a lone aspiring evil wizard. But I digress.

Armed with a Ring of Free Action, Melf's Minute Meteors and lots of self-confidence, Sarasti entered Cloakwood. Actualy she became overconfident and managed to kill Tiber with a poorly placed Skull Trap, getting -10 to reputation. You kill a peasant in the middle of a forest, and everyone starts hating you... At least the fight with Centeol, Jon Irenicus' unfortunate admirer, turned out to be interesting. Charm a spider, let everyone else gather around it, cast Skull Trap and Fireball from a wand into the crowd, add a few Magic Missiles while running around hasted, gather loot.

This was the last stop before approaching Cloakwood Mines. Sarasti had heard rumors of Hamadryads living in these woods who could do the Worst Thing Ever - appear out of nowhere and cast Dire Charm on an unsuspecting person. So she clutched her Greenstone Amulet and hurried to the mines as fast as she could.

Drasus, Rezdan, Genthore and Kysus were the last enemies for today. Wand of Monster Summoning came in handy, keeping enemy mages busy while Sarasti was dealing with fighters. Drasus was hit with Spook and panicked. Genthore saved vs. Spook, failed vs. Wand of Paralyzation and was shredded to pieces, followed by Drasus in a couple of seconds. Meanwhile the mages were busy casting Horror and Confusion on Sarasti's summons, making her ogres turn hostile. She retreated but the fight was basically over with Rezdan badly wounded and poisoned (non-cropped screenshot for more epicness). What had happened to Kysus was a mystery... or a teleporting spider. Anyway he got killed though Sarasti could swear she hadn't seen him until after the end.

The biggest disappointment came when I realized that BG1 Boots of Speed are not working in Tutu. Again. I face a dilemma - throw them away or enable cheats and use CLUAConsole to create a working BG2 pair. I *really* don't like cheating in a no-reload game. What to do. :(

Reklan the solo level 7 Human Fighter continues his adventure...

Reklan has made a lot of progress. In the early going, his only concerns were cash and upgrades, and especially to fill all the equipment slots out. To that end:
* found a fire resistance ring in Samuel's area
* bought cloak of displacement and greenstone amulet
* picked up guantlets of dexterity (to sell)
* obtained and equipped belt of bluntness
* defeated Melium on one-on-one combat. Used a strength potion, then ran around some rocks continuously, slinging as I go. Equipped bracers.
* Defeated Neira easily (but only because of the greenstone amulet). Equipped helmet of infravision
* Bought and equipped large shield +1

Time to deal with the Nashkel Mines problem. Reklan went as direct as he could to Mulahey, using the sleep wand on the kobold commandos and really any large concentration of kobolds. The battle with Mulahey was a bit anti-climatic - due to a massive critical and Mulahey's morale breaking for a round, not a single spell even landed on Reklan! (though he did have greenstone amulet charge active, just in case). Reklan then sold his junk at the Carnival and rested and proceeded to Nashkel.

Again with greenstone amulet charge active, Reklan battled Nimbul. Nimbul got some good hits in and forced Reklan to potion a few times, but Reklan prevailed.
Image IPB

Reklan wanted to get a CON tome, so he sold his greenstone amulet to Thalantyr (to recharge ) -- hmm 16,000 gold (approx.) to recharge. Need some more cash...now that Reklan has boots of avoidance, he took down both Vax and Zal and also Sendai and her archer goons. These items were just enough to buy back the greenstone amulet.

So to get some more cash, Reklan battled Bassilus. Reklan slinged Bassilus dead, protected by the greenstone amulet charge. The undead did NOT disappear, despite using the right options. As a result, I got a scary screenshot:
Image IPB
However, it looks much scarier than it really it. Reklan has boots of avoidance/full plate/large shield+1/cloak of displacement, so the skellies need a critical to touch him, and also the rigid thinking is NOT effective, as it came on him when the greenstone amulet was effective. So as a result, most of the skellies were slinged dead.

Reklan decided to use a composite bow on the sirines (on both sirine maps), since he plans to use the arrows of biting on the flesh golems. His battle with Shoal was scary though - corey_russell misclicked and she ALMOST got within talking range - fortunately corey_russell recovered in time. With the help of the greenstone amulet, this went very smoothly with no trouble. Breaking into the pirate cave gave Reklan level 7 (yay extra 1/2 attack), putting his HP at 81 (88 after using CON tome). Reklan was so successsful using a bow, he decided to use one permanently and retire the sling for now.

To get more cash, Reklan did some Ankheg hunting, and handled that well.

Reklan plans on joining the bandits and only dealing with Tazok's Tent, but he needs a solution for Venkt. He thinks the Amazons might have some potions he needs so heads over there.

NOTE: I did need to use Gatekeeper to change the alignment from chaotic good to neutral good. The whole intent of this run was to dual from Kensai to a thief in BG 2, but didn't know that Kensai can't be chaotic.

Reklan the level 8 Human Fighter (solo) continues his adventure...

As mentioned in the last post, Reklan started the battle with the Amazon assassins, They were utterly destroyed simply with greenstone amulet, and arrows of biting.
Image IPB
The revenant was defeated using a protection from undead scroll (as were the other undead). The crazy mage and his jellies was defeated with arrows of biting, the jelllies with straight melee.

Next up, Bandit Camp. I joined the camp, and didn't have to fight Tazok because of my dialogue choices. Venkt was defeated via arrows of biting, potion of magic blocking and also darts of wounding. Once the mage went down, the rest were mopped up, though Reklan did have to gulp quite a few heal potions in the process. The trapped chest dealt with via potion of absorption.

The spider's bane was definitely desired. To get it, the following resources were used: 1) necklace of missiles 2) fire resistance potion 3) fire protection scroll 4) protection from poison 5) heroism 6) potion of explosions. Using all of these things defeated Centeol's spiders and obtained the spider's bane. Since Reklan was close to leveling by this point, and with the free action he now has (not to mention his protection from poison, which was still active), he cleared al the enemies on the spider map. He was just 600 exp shy his max level, but a cave bear next map provided that.

Reklan has been incredibly fortunate with his HP rolls, he only got one roll below 10 and more than one 14! See final stats (as am at level cap):
Image IPB
This is the best HP I've had as a human ever.

Reklan proceeded straight to Drassus and cronies. They were defeated via necklace of missiles out of sight. Forced to sell and return. Reklan then battled his way to Davaeorn's lair, avoiding all fights that weren't strictly on that path. Reklan used the spider's bane, cloud giant strength and heroism to defeat the two battle horrors - and mountains of heal potions. The buffs were still active, so then Reklan used greenstone amulet and arrows of biting on Daveaorn - success! Since this is vanilla BG 1, no bag of holding, so looting was difficult, but Reklan managed.

Rekland IDed and sold his junk, put the stuff he's going to keep in his chest at the carnival, and will explore the city of Baldur's Gate next. For those interested, here's his equipment.

No, I know that the Ring of Free Action negates Haste.
It's definitely a Tutu or EasyTutu bug. BG1 and BG2 Boots of Speed even look differently in the inventory - one pair is yellow, the other is brown. They didn't work on Drasus either.

Anyway it's not a big deal so I just sold them for a nice amount of money. None of my solo characters ever die because of their speed. The usual problem is me forgetting to cast Mind Shield or Resist Lightning in a narrow trapped corridor. My previous sorcerer was insta-killed in Durlag's Tower after she defeated Pride, Avarice and Fear. Love ran away, she went after him, her Mind Shield expired, Love appeared from behind a corner and charmed her. At least it was a quite romantic death. :?

Sarasti, however, is still doing fine. Saturday run was short but close to being perfect - she successfully investigated Cloakwood Mines and completed another chapter without ever being hit or having to save vs. spell.

Hareishan and his Black Talon Elite minions were elegantly killed using only three spells - Skull Trap, Web, Skull Trap, though the room certainly looked a bit messy afterwards.

While looking for more valuable stuff to expropriate, Sarasti stumbled upon a dwarven prisoner called Yeslick. Yeslick was let out of his cage on one simple condition - he would follow Sarasti to the lowest level of the mine, where a powerful mage was supposed to be hiding, and cast Dispel Magic. Sarasti had one dispelling scroll ready for this occasion but using free dwarven labour seemed to be more practical.

She took the quickest route across Level 3, with several summoned minions scouting the way and charmed Yeslick running behind, and descended the stairs to Davaeorn's quarters. Two Battle Horrors took some time to get rid of, not to mention several summoned hobgoblins and Magic Missiles. Yeslick announced that his contract didn't include any horrors and hid behind a door. Meanwhile Davaeorn started the usual villainous monologue but was interrupted by a rude dwarven gesture and Dispel Magic from behind the door. Davaeorn was quickly stripped of all fancy protection spells, Spooked, poisoned and, while Sarasti was flipping through her spellbook and looking for the most humiliating spell ever, he became very dead. At least his Robe of the Evil Archmagi could still be washed, repaired and worn.

Twenty minutes later Sarasti climbed out of the mines and headed towards Baldur's Gate, bright-eyed and slightly staggering under a big sack of loot.

Four mages in Sorcerous Sundries didn't like her poking about in the shop so Sarasti decided to take measures. She cast summoning spells, Haste, Mind Shield, Mirror Image and, most importantly, Invisibility. The latter spell let her position her pets so that each mage could get a personal hasted spider surprise. Niemain got two ogres (even better). Sarasti initiated a dialog, mages turned hostile, were immediately attacked by spiders, poisoned and fumbled all their spellcasting. Niemain died in the first round, William in the second. Oulam was hit with Spook and panicked, Wheber somehow managed to cast the only enemy spell in this fight - Horror. However both were already poisoned and died in the next round. Neither Sarasti nor her pets took any damage in this fight, so I'm quite proud of her.

Tomorrow I'm going to investigate Iron Throne headquarters.

Reklan the level 8 Human Fighter - FINAL BG 1 Update

Reklan did VERY few things in the City of Baldur's Gate - just the main quests and a few upgrades. Soon, it was time to deal with the 5th floor of the Iron Throne baddies. Haste potion, greenstone amulet and arrows of detonation utterly destroyed them, and fast.
Image IPB

Since Reklan has so very little looting space, he basically only received the ring of Koveras, and then looted the two crypts using a storm giant potion. Spider's Bane and protection from poison helped clear out the spiders in the area. Then once out of the first crypt area, then Reklan used an invisibility potion and just ran out of there.

Cythrandria and her goons were dealt with using arrows of detonation (being sure to make Reklan's fire resist >100 so the arrows would actually heal him). Slythe by arrows of dispelling, haste potion and cloud giant potion. Once Slythe went down, Reklan hurried to the Palace, since the buffs were still active and successfully saved Belt, though Lia died. Sarevok tried to attack, but he quickly had eough.

Time to get through the thieves maze - no fighting but just 100% fire and lightning resist then run through maze invisible. Kept running until I got to the Temple of Bhaal in the Undercity. Here is my resources for my battle with Sarevok.

Reklan opened with necklace of missiles on the left side. Just Sarevok and Semaj came. The plan was to dispel Sarevok's haste then melee with the +3 bastard sword against shapeshifters. Well, even unhasted, Sarevok was winning the trade of blows. So instead Reklan ran around the area like a chicken with its head cut off, shooting +2 arrows and heal potioning and running and repeating - this was in fact enough to defeat Sarevok!
Image IPB

Since this is vanilla BG 1, Reklan will kit to Kensai in BG 2. Still trying to decide should he dual to thief at 9 or level 13...

I can't get a Kensai to survive BG 1 solo (I've tried) - my only successful BG 1 Kensai was in a full group. I probably could do with Algernon's Cloak, but that's just too much cheese, even for me. It's no biggee, it won't take long at all to get through BG 1 solo.

Reklan attempt #2 Update:

Reklan, attempt #2 has made it to level 7. In terms of what he has done and how, he's done everything almost exactly the same as before. A few things different this time:

* Reklan is actually on track to get better HP than last time - he's at 96 right now and one more level left. I know it's core rules because at least 2 levels weren't max, but he sure is much luckier than many of my toons in the HP department.
* While taking down sirines, the greenstone amulet poofed! Yikes...He'll have to be very, very careful anytime fighting mages from now on.

He's currently at the Bandit Camp (he joined, like last time), preparing to take down the baddies in Tazok's Tent.

Hello, people! Really nice to see that the no-reloads thing is still going! Also nice to see that we no longer need to start a new thread every 10 pages...

It's been over 2 years since I last played BG. I've had a couple of no-reloads capaigns. Some are actually still going.

- My first try was with an Undead Hunter named Raymond Cavendish III. I played with Tutu, but otherwise near-vanilla.
I felt that immunity to hold would be great in BG1 and it sure was. He made it to SoA chapter 3. I had done almost everything possible before heading to Spellhold, when we met up with the 'skin armor' guy in Umar Hills and picked a fight with him. I knew that three mages would pop in but I underestimated their power (and the range of Abi-Dalzim's Horrid Wilting...). I had one of my mages polymorphed to a Mustard Jelly to soak up spells. All three mages went though the same spell casting routine. And then came a triple ADHW, and poor Raymond was standing half a step too close and the edge of the Wiltings clipped him. Ouch.

- Second try was with with Laureloth (means "Goldflower" in one of Tolkien's elven languages), Beast Master 7 -> Cleric. Very easy early game, being a competent warrior with a familiar. (I had the Fairy Dragon, with its excellent Invisibility 10' radius ability)
Not so powerful in ToB although she sure can Turn Undead with the best of them. This campaign is still going! Very powerful party but now I've installed SCS II on my BG2 game, so I am pretty scared as I am not at all used to that in the late game. We're currently trying to stop the siege at Saradush - just emerging from the sewers into Gromnir's castle. I am scared...
(I should add that I've only completed one ToB campaign ever. Several reloads were needed - in vanilla!)

- Third campaign was with Evelyna DeVir, a half-elven Blade with a taste for bows. I played her mainly as an archer and backup mage. I loved using Offensive Spin with bows. She made it to Spellhold where I happened in the Irenicus rebellion fight sooner than I had remembered (so no short-term buffs on). At one time, she got within sight of Irenicus who nailed her with a 3x Flame Arrow sequencer. Ouch. Damn SCS II and its Flame Arrow sequencers...

- Then I started a solo Avenger which is NOT planned to be a no-reloads guy. Haven't gotten far, but no reloads needed yet.

- Marty, an orcish level 5/5 Cleric/Thief is my last played character, in june 2010. He and Imoen are currently trying to level up once more without doing anything too risky. They want to make it out of Sleep vulnerability (you need level 6 for that) and also so they can recruit level 6 (or so) companions.

Well, the BG bug bit me again, so here will I start off with Ivy, the (moon) elf Wild Mage.
Wild Mage is quite likely a nutjob choice for a no-reloads character but I'll try anyway. I usually play a pretty risk-minimizing game (letting my companions take the bigger risks) and will do so here as well to begin with. But I promise to cast at least one Dweomer in every chapter! (targetting an enemy, well away from 'neutral' bystanders, seems much less dangerous than anything else when it comes to Dweomers).

I am tired of having super stats on my main character, so I used my new method for rolling stats:
Roll a total of 5 times and pick the best (you can have one roll stored to accomplish this). No redistribution of points.

First update coming later today. I've had plenty of small ups and downs already!

First update for Ivy, elven Wild Mage.

As you could see in the last post, Ivy has no HP-bonus from CON. None of my five rolls produced any. At least she's reasonably strong, agile and smart. Her weapon profiency is with Darts.

Starting spell picks:
Nahal's Reckless Dweomer (mandatory)
Shield
Sleep
Find Familiar (I need the bonus HP badly - can't give Shenk and Carbos a chance to kill me on a regular hit!)
Larloch's Minor Drain (more bonus HP potential)
Blindness
Charm Person
Identify

I hit Winthrop for some darts and a night's sleep. Gotta get that familiar right away...
Actually, I had no idea what kind of familiar I'd get and didn't plan for any. Ivy is Chaotic Neutral simply because I pictured her that way.

Oh, a cat. What can it do? (picks it up to have a look at its description). Ah, it's a master scout, with minor other thief abilities. Conflicting info between inventory description and spell descritption. I suspect spell decription is mostly wrong since it's the same as for the spell in SoA. Tutu familiars are toned down compared to SoA. It certainly has only 12 HP because Ivy's went from 4 to 10. So I suspect AC is 0 rather than -4, then. Magic resist is also probably the lower number. Still, pretty good for the early game. I poked around the net for some more info. Looks like the cat has 3 attacks per round, and the hits do 1d6 damage. That's way better than what Ivy can come up with.

"Okay Kitty, time to make yourself useful! Ah, nice one. Good, now block him there so I can...ah, perfect damage roll."

This is probably the worst robbing success I've ever had in Candlekeep. Couldn't crack open containers to save my life (16 STR isn't bad for an elven mageling, but very meager for bashing, it seems). At least Kitty could open two containers. I love that XP feature in Tutu. Nothing overpowered but helps in the long run and it's encouraging while you play.

Scraped together enough gold to buy 360 arrows, a Long Sword and a Studded Leather for Imoen.

I must say I enjoyed Candlekeep a lot. I spent a good two hours here, I think, really drinking in the scenery and smelled the roses. (That's how long ago I played, hehe) Especially the 'Linda and Sir Trun' quest from one of the mods is very well written.

Picked up Monty and Xzar, and used some cheesy metagame knowledge here. (Got quite lucky, too! That bugger means major danger with my mod setup. He knows Mirror Image, Horror and Sleep).

Dropped off Monty and X here. I'll bring them along to Nashkel later so they won't disappear. You never know who you might eventually need in a no-reloads game...

I decided to make Khalid an archer. Gave him *** in Long Bow (hey, if Coran can have it, so can he). I think archery matches his personalty better than melee does. Here you can see me being willing to spend 90% of my gold on an expensive weapon. Can see my mistake?

Oh crap, this is BG2 rules, where Composite Long Bows require great strength. Khalid isn't strong enough! And a regular Long Bow isn't exactly cheap either. I sold all seven 1st level scrolls I had kept (some were quite useful ones (Magic Missile, etc.) to be able to afford a Long Bow as well. Now I am looking for a really stong archer, I suppose. Minsc, Kivan and Shar-Teel are the only ones I can think of (barring ogre power gauntlets). Anyone else out there?

My merry band of four went to hunt the belt fetish ogre, and do some wolf hunting along the way. While we fought the ogre (we'd gotten it to more than half dead) we happened to wake up a xvart pack. A well-timed and -placed Entangle from Jaheira kept them busy until we were done with the ogre.

One of the xvarts dropped a scroll of Non-Detection. Wow, a 3rd level scroll from a measly random xvart! I though only higher-level foes (e.g. ogre mage and such) could drop those.

My mod setup:
- Tutu (full BG2 implementation of priest magic, some BG2-specific arcane scrolls added. Enemy mages can use BG2 spells). Basic ammo is sold in packs of 120

- BG1 NPC project (I get to choose proficiencies on NPCs but they all start in their regular areas). Cloakwood 1-4 can be accessed at any time, so the three NPCs there can be recruited earlier than in vanilla.

- BG1 Unfinished Business + Jastey's quest pack + Lure of the Sirine's Call

- SCS (but no improved spiders, and no improved Davaeorn battle or final battle. End-of-chapter battles in chapters 2,3,5 and 6 are made harder. For one thing, there are two backstabbing thieves added to the Iron Throne HQ battle!)
Greater Doppelgangers (except the ones in the Coronation fight, I think) are VERY dangerous. They use Horror and Dire Charm, their hits carry 'save or get confused' and they can buff with Haste + Mirror Image several times. Priests and mages pre-buff (once they spot us, a portion of their memorized spells are used for buffs). Enemies can use potions (and fighter-types usually carry battle potions). All potions they don't use up can be found by us post-battle. Enemies can detect our spell buffs, but not effects from items we wear.
Targeting by intelligent enemies is 'smarter'. So my mage Ivy needs to buff up or stay out of sight from archers and spellcasters!
Better Calls for Help makes areas like Bandit Camp very dangerous, as everyone can move to a battle form large distances.
During Chapter III, the two assassin gangs of Lamalha et al. and Molkar et al. will seek us out and attack when we arrive at a random map.
Bears are not slow.

- Hard Times (very small resources early on, many things are more expensive than usual, many items removed, non-magical metal armor have a chance to break (yes, even full plate!), Algernon's Cloak has only 3 charges, etc, etc.)

- Item Randomizer (many items get shuffled around, so I can practically not count on anything I am used to finding to be in that spot. Nothing that isn't removed by Hard Times should be lost in the game, though.)

My house rules:
- If an NPC dies and gets resurrected, they will receive a -1 CON penalty (as per vanilla BG1 rules).

- Imoen is always in my parties, she usually dual-classes at Thief level 9 (for better thiefiness and backstabbing prowess). If she survives, I use SK in BG2 to make her exactly like she ended BG1 (including her spellbook). If she dies an unrecoverable death in BG1 but my PC makes it through, I treat Imoen pretty much like she does not exist in BG2.

Really? I have never noticed that.

Final BG 1 Update for Reklan (no. 2) the level 8 Human Fighter :

Reklan the human fighter, who was restarted from right after character creation, since his last incarnation died in BG 2, has successfully negotiated BG 1 and defeated Sarevok.
Image IPB
Here is his information screen:
Image IPB

The strategy was the same as last time, with the following differences:
Reklan really wanted to melee Sarevok (which he did successfully), so the following are the differences from last run:
1) Instead of girdle of bluntness for the final battle, Reklan had obtained the girdle of slashing. In addition, he also used TWO potions of mind focusing, which stack in vanilla -- this put his AC to slashing to -13! Even Sarevok has to miss a few times...
2) Instead of a bastard sword +1, Reklan used Greywolf's +2 long sword and a shield.
3) The helm of balduran was NOT obtained! I wanted the claw of kazgarath to be ported over, so rather than risk of error did not get it. I did get instead the helm of glory
4) golden panataloons was in Reklan's inventory in the final battle.
5) potion of power used instead of heroism

Sarevok Battle itself:
Pretty simple actually. Move to the left, fire a necklace of missiles shot, which only pulled Sarevok and Semaj. Shoot Sarevok with a dispelling arrow, which worked first shot. Quickly (note that going into inventory unpauses automatically for me) change out the bow for the shield. Start trading blows with Sarevok with our melee weapons. Heal potion once, then success! Semaj only had time to cast 2 spells before the battle was over.

Reklan's final character sheet

This is a trilogy no-reload, so he will kit to Kensai after import into BG 2.

Is it cheating to use BGT?

I mean: I'm already past the BG1 level cap.

Also not this current build beign for non-reload; but any future ones.

I'm gonna be like level 9 in SOA after TotSC
