Duke Eltan sends Sharrde back to Candlekeep; her equipment is well chosen but there is a risk her thieving skills are not up to the job. So it proves, the first trap remaining stubbornly invisible. Sharrde uses a scroll of protection from magic and manages to disable a damage trap but has to glug a healing potion when trying to skirt a second hidden trap. With two magical tomes retrieved she slips into the shadows and departs.
“Elminster and Gorion” are standing on a snare, allowing some personal time with backstabs to follow.
Prat is evidently up to no good so he gets a backstab, meaning he dies from a cluster of snares. Tam and Sakul have died too but Bor requires two more snares. A protection from petrification scroll allows Sharrde to reach her full potential (in BG1) by backstabbing two greater doppelgangers.
Bounty Hunter 10. 171 kills, Davaeorn.

Last we heard of Trint, he was investigating the mine. He successfully fought his way to Mulahey, using necklace of missiles on Mulahey's minions and arrows of biting on Mulahey, all the while protected by the greenstone amulet. After looting everything Trint got out of there.
When Trint returned to Nashkel, a powerful assassin named Nimbul appeared. Trint tried numerous times to poison Nimbul with his arrows, but failed, taking some magic missiles in return. Each time, Trint had to run and heal, even make a stop at the Nashkel Temple to restock on heal potions. The Nashkel Guards tried to help, but all that assisted were either ineffectual or killed. While killing a guard, Trint heard Nimbul say, "It's almost wrong to have have such an easy kill.". Eventually though, Nimbul's mirror images wore off (Trint waited them out) and when they did, Nimbul was destroyed.

Trint returned to the Gibberling area to get the protection from magic scroll from the gnome and take Samuel to the FAI. Only one problem - Trint forgot Tarnesh was still there, and Trint walked right up to Tarnesh, unbuffed. Trinted activated the greenstone amulet and ran for his life and hid in the shadows...Trint waited qutie a while, long enough for Tarnesh mirror images to wear off..then yet another assassin was one-shotted.

Trint decided to confront Tranzip, though Trint spent 2000 gold on a magic blocking potion to be safe - Trint opened with a backstab but apparently Tranzig is a bit tougher than other assassins and survived it. However, Tranzig's morale broke so was too scared to cast spells. It took numerous attempts (misses), but he too was backstabbed into oblivion.

Trint decided he needed more experience, so purchased 2 potion of mirror eyes (for possible waylays), and a protection from petrification scroll and headed to Basilisk Country. Little did he know he would have the battles of his life here...He found Korax the Ghoul who was willing to help Trint, so Trint used Korax to take down Mutamin and his pets.
Trint tried to have Korax take down Kirian, but that didn't work out at all, Korax was quickly killed and Trint failed to hide in the shadows and was spotted, and incidentally unbuffed! Uh, oh. Trint put up his greenstone amulet and ran for his life. While running, he would try to hide, but encountered gnolls and basilisks in the way too...after running for about 1/2 the map Trint finally hid in the shadows successfully. He decided to leave Kirian's party alone for the moment, and destroyed the basislisks in the southern portion of the area, including a nice 88 pts. backstab on a greater basilisk, killing it in one shot.
Once that was done, time to scout and see where Kirian's party was..ah there they are with a bunch of gnoll friends too, great....Trint decided necklace of missiles is the best play here, so he fired about 3 shots, killing the gnolls and 2 of Kirian's party, still the cleric and archer left, but the cleric was badly wounded...necklace charges were getting low so Trint try to bow the cleric dead but missed twice. Trint ran for his life again, all over the map once more, but the trees were insufficient cover and he couldn't re-hide. He eventually killed the cleric by running ahead, fire an arrow, run ahead, etc. until finally the pesky cleric fell. Just the archer left but no idea where he is, so cleared some gnolls and found him! A backstab finished the archer, and finally, after running everywhere, Kirian's party is no more. Trint made sure the basilisks were all dead, and left the area, inventory full.
Forgot to mention, due to the problem of ghouls/ghasts/clerics, Trint decided to risk pick-pocketing Dushai, even though his pick-pocket stink. He did buy a thieving potion and potion of mind focusing to increase his chances (90% chance to be exact). Success! He took a risk and pick-pocketed Shandalar a few times, but the 3rd time failed and now Shandalar is hostile! Uh oh, he's a powerful mage. Fortunately Trint still had the protection from magic scroll from the gibberling area so used it and was able to survive Shandalar's wrath, and Shandalar was only able to kill a civilian with a fireball aimed at Trint.
In any case, Trint is pleased to be alive despite his recent travails, the coast seems like it should be his next stop.

Nasha, half-elf shapeshifter (Grond0), & Charel, elf sorceror (Gate70)
This post should really have been about how the duo finally made it past Sarevok unscathed. Unfortunately, it's not
They did pick up all the tomes and make it back from Candlekeep intact. A lightning tour of some XP hot-spots saw them get 90k XP each - the particular benefit there being ironskins for Nasha, which made Slythe straightforward.
Then on to the palace where their native abilities would have made them strong favourites to defeat the dopplegangers, but why take a chance - let's summon 4 nymphs to make certain. They did indeed make certain - of defeat. With the dopplegangers already looking pretty much beaten one of them was dominated by a nymph. It was killed almost straight away, but the damage had been done and Belt and the gang were now hostile.
In this install it's not possible to talk to a charmed creature, so there was no way out. We experimented to see if there was an illegal option, by bringing Liia into the party with ctrl-Q, but as soon as she was released again she just disappeared.

Two snares are waiting for Cythandria so Sharrde tosses a few more in before “arriving”. Cythandria asks for, and is granted, clemency. Sharrde can’t stop a final snare biting though - dead bimbo.
Sharrde calls Slythe a big brute. He frontstabs her so she staggers back. He grins and follows, stepping on a snare. Sharrde staggers back some more and a second snare then a third and fourth have him badly wounded. Sharrde leans against a wall and Slythe moves in for the kill, but she has vanished and he realises he’s been tricked. Sharrde chunkstabs him before he can do anything clever.
Krystin takes a snare, her buffs protecting against a second and a follow-up arrow. Quenash is killed by a cloudkill while Sharrde tries on a new cloak for size. A backstab takes Krystin to badly wounded and Sharrde is quick enough at hiding and returning for Krystin to stand in her own cloudkill. Sharrde takes some more damage as she nips back for a chunkstab to act more quickly than the cloudkill.
Bounty Hunter 10. 174 kills, Davaeorn.

Trint decides he's tough enough to deal with Silke. So he talks to her Bard, er servant named Garrick. She asks him to murder, Trint says no, and a fight commences. Silke opens with improved invisibility. Trint opened by running away and stealthing...he knows his opponent is II, so he just runs all around the block in Beregost, waits in the shadows for the improved invisibility to wear off...ah there she is!

Yep a backstab finishes her as well.
To get more cash, Trint battled Molkar's assassins. Was a crazy battle, raging over 1/2 the map, kobolds and dire wolves also joined the fun. Trint used necklace of missiles, all 10 of his heal potions and backstabs and LOTS of running, he even had to fireball himself but he wasnt wearing fire resistant gear...was very tough but he pulled through, the resourceful guy he is. He failed his HIS way too many times (despite wearing boots of stealth and have 100 in both HIS and moving silently), so decides he will need to put his studded leather away and buy the shadow armor for the help with HIS.
Trint defeats the undead in the valley of tombs via protection from undead scroll from Thalantyr. This helped his cash and got an important invisibility potion. This also got him level 9, time to get the main quest going.
I had a hard time deciding how, as a thief, I was going to deal with Tazok's Tent. I know I can win if I pull the fight outside, but then would have to fight the entire camp, and that would be a bit much. I WAS able to join the bandits AND via dialogue was able to not fight Tazok too - excellent!
So the plan was this: Get to more than 100% fire resistance, stealth and backstab the mage (Venkt). If critical miss, I can use invis potion, wait out Venkts mirror images and try again. Can afford 2 critical misses. Then fireball remaining guys with necklace of missiles, which in turn would also heal me. I got an item at the bandit camp so revised my plan slightly. If critical miss, will use firebreath potion on Venkt instead. Well, as it turned out Venkt was one-shotted and never got to cast anything. Trint put the firebreath potion on Brikt and started moving around to get the other two guys in the scorcher. This killed Brikt, though Brikt did manage to poison Trint. Then Trint moved away to be sure not to kill the civilian in the room, fireball and success! Here's a screenie of that battle:

Since Trint only has one more level left, he decides he will skip Cloakwood areas 1-4, though will fight Drassus group for Drassus boots.

Sharrde : Neutral Good human female bounty hunter
7 special snares are spread around the coronation room. Two greater doppelgangers are caught out while others are injured to varying degrees. Sharrde has glugged two potions of mind focusing, an oil of speed and a potion of power, and is busy shooting arrows of biting on the run. 20 arrows are used and Sharrde accounts for five doppelgangers (one backstabbed after it runs down into the cellar).
Sarevok gets one arrow before departing, and Sharrde starts to clear the thieves maze with backstabs. She reaches two skeleton warriors as the potion of power wears off, and the oil of speed doesn’t last much longer. With the maze clear of traps and enemies she rests near to the exit.
(& at this point she really should stop for the night but nah that's not going to happen)

Last time it was rumoured Sharrde rested before entering the undercity. Blatantly un-true, as she continued a little further then laid two snares. A couple of rests later she has seven snares ready to trigger in case Rahvin wants to do anything more energetic than talking. Rahvin is in no mood to negotiate so Sharrde activates her snares as she moves away to hide. The snares make a terrible noise, and also a terrible mess.
With Rahvin and Haseo dead the injured parties start looking for Sharrde. She would be a fool to expose her position but Wudei has stayed to guard the one corpse (and some chunks); a backstab swiftly has Wudei on the ground. Carston has stopped early to staunch near-fatal wounds and this means he can safely be chunkstabbed. As his body scatters in various directions Sharrde is hidden and closing in on the rest of the party. She can only see Gorf and Shaldrissa so tosses a special snare at their feet.
Mirror images protect Shaldrissa but Gorf is on his last legs and totters towards the hidden Sharrde - only to be chunkstabbed. Shaldrissa takes a backstab (39) through her images and panics, running straight into a snare.
With the final group of mercenaries removed all Sharrde needs to do is head into the temple and confront Sarevok. First though, she needs to pick up some items as she has travelled light this evening with limited potions and no scrolls to hand.
Bounty Hunter 10 (could level up but won’t). 196 kills, Davaeorn.

So, Rahvin. A brief recap.

Endgame
Six snares are placed on the southern wall of the once-abandoned temple, with a seventh at a random spot. Sharrde has removed two traps to the west and rested before aiming an arrow of dispelling at Sarevok. She is running backwards but just observes the arrow hit home and dispel his buffs (result).
Sharrde fails to hide but Sarevok has stopped and she is given a second chance. An acid arrow misses and Sarevok calls for Tazok and Angelo but they refuse to turn up. Instead Sarevok walks into three snares (saving vs slow). A backstab (55) sees more snares triggered (2 saved, 2 therefore not). He lurches towards Sharrde who has taken the opportunity to shoot more acid arrows and glug an oil of speed. Within two widths of the temple Sarevok is badly wounded (this is fast) but then he breaks into his normal stride (seems very quick recovery).
Three more widths have him almost dead so Sharrde hides (successful at the fourth attempt) and hits with Varscona (47). Four more attempts to hide and Sarevok concedes (without only one of the additional items - one arrow of dispelling - required to halt him).

Bounty Hunter 10. 196 kills, Davaeorn.

(will hit SoA another day as likely to mess up in there tonight)

So Trint skipped the Cloakwood and ran from all ambushes. Time to deal with Drassus. Only special prep was potion of absorption since I can't out-run Drassus as well as potion of defense and girdle of bluntness. Trint fired 3 fireballs from the shadows before he was spotted. Drassus pursued, and Trint stopped to engage when Genthore was out of range. Trint's first hit took down Drassus, the haste boots duly equipped. Time to return to the fort - ah only Genthore survived - a backstab finished him.

I was surprised of this backstab of Trint's - 100 damage! I rarely get 3 figure backstabs in BG 1.
While Trint did backstab a few guards, he tried to skip the entire Cloakwood Mine, including Heirashan. He ran and backstabbed Davaoern's guard dead (took a few hits), de-trapped the 4 traps, and engaged Davaeorn. Interestingly enough Daveorn was defeated without buffs (though Trint did have 2 magic blocking potions at the ready). Basically Trint very carefully chose his attack vector, and after a single arrow would immediately go out of Davaoern's line of sight. Trint was never hit with a single spell, though Davaeorn hit him in melee once. Trint was very patient, but finally all of Daveorn's mirror images finally expired - that meant a backstab could and did finish him.

When Trint arrived at the City of Baldur's Gate, there was very little to obtain, and nearly at the cap. So he did all the non-fighting quests he could, and beat up two thieves and a basilisk - level 10 and at the cap. He was able to procure DEX tome and INT tome, but didn't bother with the WIS tome.
Ok time to get the main quest going. At first was wondering how Trint would do against the dopplegangers on the main floor of the Seven Suns, but he was able to hide in the shadows behind pillars and backstab them dead. Now that this floor was clear of enemies, the other floors were easily cleared with backstabs as well. Reported to Scar and he was pleased. I passed on the missing residents' quest and asked about the Iron Throne. That's our next target.
I've never soloed the 5th floor with a thief before, and considered my options. Arrows of detonation are possible, however a thief is much easier to hit than a fighter, not to mention vulnerable to criticals, and also just isn't quite as tough as a good PC fighter. I decided on a new strategy (for me) - Trint used a protection from magic scroll, potion of mind focusing, regeneration, haste potion, potion of defense. His plan? Backstab, run and hide, and repeat until all of them were dead. He mostly ran on the 4th floors and 5th floors and the rooms in there, although once he had to run to the 3rd floor due a failed hide. When backstabbing, he would also choose the most hurt guy to go after. Trint's top target was Cloudwulfe since he has ranged damage that can get through Trint's protection from magic scroll.
It took 3 backstabs, but finally Cloudewulfe falls. Trint turned a corner, hid, and a second later finished Alai. Gardush was the next target, and in fact Gardush was the only enemy to even hurt Trint (a single hit knocked Trint 50% health - yikes!). Trint had to find an unoccupied room, heal up and resume his backstabs. Trint finally finished Gardush on the back room of the 5th floor. Some more running and hiding and Aasim was the next to be backstabbed to death.. It should be noted most of these acolytes required at least two backstabs to finish off, even the casters. Trint turned a corner, went to the shadows, and finished off Naaman with a backstab next. Trint then led Diyab on a chase up and down the stairs, backstabbing Diyab as he appeared. This second backstab finished him. Finally only the Doppleganger left. What was interesting is the Doppleganger killed the Iron Throne character in the middle room of the 4th floor for some reason. Trint had some trouble finding the doppleganger, but finally found the doppleganger on the left stairs and ended the doppleganger's murderous ways with a backstab.
Thaldorn was intimidated to give the info needed to incriminate the Throne, will be going to the Candlekeep Crypts next.

Trint got through the Candlkeep Crypts with no problems, going invisible through most of it. He fought the spiders from the shadows and didn't even get hit. He had potion of perception and thieving potions to make sure he could get what he wanted.
Back in the Gate, after a single backstab, Cythandria was willing to give me the evidence - good.
The battle with Slythe was nerve-wracking. I tried two dispelling arrows while he was blue circle but they did NOT connect! Trint took a hit and used an invisibility potion to get away heal, and try again from a distance - took two arrows but yes, Slythes buffs dispelled - Trint hid behind a wall and then ran into one of the rooms. Slythe moved to where Trint hid and Krystin was right behind Slythe, BUT visible from the hallway. Trint then did a dispelling arrow on Krystin, ran into a room and hid, then backstabbed Krytin for 50 damage - she survived, Trint quickly ran into a room, hid, and finished her off. Once more he hid in a room, ran back and backstabbed Slythe - Slythe still kicking and pursued Trint to his hiding room - but again Trint managed to get into the shadows, and finally backstabbed Slythe into oblivion.
I was VERY nervous about the Duchal Palace fight, wasn't even sure how I was to do it. So I bought Wand of Sleep and every potion that increased my melee offense/defence and went to the Palace. I figured I WANT the dopplegangers to attack me - if they do I run and hide and backstab them plus they aren't attacking the dukes. I did wand of sleep and that disabled some of them - but BIG problem - I got boxed in! When I'm a fighter I don't care, but sure do as a thief! I soon realized the danger to myself and tried to gulp an invisibility potion to heal up, but was killed before I could do so - RIP Trint.

I enjoyed the solo play. A long time ago, I had a solo fighter (no kit) named Noywad who got to level 15 in SoA before being mazed (he was solo in SoA too). I rolled a dwarven fighter and gave him the same name, so will be a kind of Noywad ver. 2. Just left Candlekeep with Gorion just slain as of this post.

Nasha, half-elf shapeshifter (Grond0), & Charel, elf sorceror (Gate70)
After a slightly cruel death at the palace last time, we both agreed we still had unfinished business with Nasha and Charel. This time round things have been very smooth so far, although Charel's excellent HPs from the last run have sadly gone walkabout. They have just arrived in the final Cloakwood area and will be seeking to get Drasus' boots next (handy as they allow Charel to move at the same speed as Nasha's hasted werewolf shape).
No close shaves in the run to date, but there have been a couple of oddities. At one point when the duo entered Feldepost's Inn Nasha waited upstairs for Charel to come and confront Tranzig. However, Charel didn't arrive and, when Nasha went back down, complained he was unable to see the stairs. On checking he couldn't see the exit either! Clearly this was a superior marketing device by Feldepost, so superior that just resting didn't help. However, briefly transferring Charel to Grond0's control soon sorted her out.
The second problem was that, in this installation, Nasha force attacking enemies often seems to cause problems to Gate70, e.g. kicking him out of the game. When forgetting herself and trying this on Sil, Nasha this time managed somehow to cause Charel to lose a level and reduce base HPs as well. Rather than muck about with Shadowkeeper we just loaded the autosave here.
Nasha, shapeshifter L7, 52 HPs, 118 kills
Charel, sorceror L6, 25 HPs, 74 kills

No potentially fatal surges in the run so far.

@Grond0 - I agree, Trint was really promising. The Duchal Palace encounter was the only one I was concerned about for him, apparently with good reason...
Quite a while ago, I had a solo fighter for BG 1/BG 2 named Noywad - I decided to roll another dwarven fighter, just like Noywad and use the same name. I just rolled this character tonight, but already Noywad has made excellent progress, in no small part due to the fact he can just stand his ground and fight, unlike Trint who had to run quite a bit. Noywad is about to travel Ankheg country to get his greenstone amulet, then probably will take on the Nashkel Mines. Run been pretty smooth so far, no near misses to date. Even though he hasn't really been to that many places, he's gotten a lot of experience due to ambushes where he stayed his ground, ambushes that Trint had to run from.

This run is still going very nicely. Tiamat has now completed everything he intends doing outside the main quest and is about to head into the Nashkel mine.
I had been restricting myself to first level spells for a long time, but after this bandit ambush at L6 decided to get invisibility.

Shortly after that Farmer Brun boosted reputation to 20 (used wand of monster summoning to deal with some ankhegs guarding his son's body) and Tiamat bought a few things at Ulgoth's Beard as well as learning all the rest of the spells Thalantyr could teach.
Tiamat finally arrived at the basilisk area. He had learned staff proficiency at L6 so it didn't take him long to beat up the basilisks. He recruited Korax to help with Mutamin and then tried blinding some of the party, but Peter saved against all 4 attempts. Tiamat had already learnt the cloudkill scroll, but after a rest the old web / skull trap routine worked fine.
Similar tactics allowed Tiamat through a couple of groups of sirenes - achieving level 8 on the way (continuing with excellent HP rolls, now at 56 HPs). Another single charge from the wand of monster summoning was just enough to let Tiamat kill some golems.
Still no potentially fatal surges in the run, but there were a couple of harmful ones. An area effect magic missile annoyed the dryad of the cloudpeaks, so no reputation boost there. Tiamat also managed to cast the wrong spell on himself at one point. Despite the effect showing, I imagine from the damage taken this was a magic missile.

Tiamat has now arrived in the city on the closing stages of his run.
In the mine enemies were all evaded until Mulahey, who failed to manage a greeting. Nimbul and Tranzig had similar problems.
At the bandit camp left Taugosz. Venkt was blinded, but Hakt saved 4 times. However, he didn't fare so well in a web and a couple of skull traps finished him off. Venkt was the last to go, being shot just as the web expired.
At the mine Drasus and Genthore survived four skull traps. Sling and magic missiles finished off Genthore before the web expired, but Drasus clung on. Unfortunately for him he was still feeling down from an earlier emotion and Tiamat was able to crush his skull with her staff.
The webs were used on the initial guard, but a combination of invisibilities with a couple of skull traps were enough for Daveorn.
The only problem in the session was killing Daveorn's jelly guard. Normally it's pretty easy to take down by staff, but 2 hits in a row from the jelly had Tiamat suffering and quickly running round a corner before finishing it off.
