I think it's safe to announce my current run as I've reached a reasonable point where I can hope not to get immediately killed before my next update :)

Name: Lupercus
Race: Human
Alignment: True Neutral
class: Berserker

Str: 18/66
Dexterity: 17
Constitution: 16
Intelligence: 9
Wisdom: 17
Charism: 16

Weapons: Two-Handed Weapon ** and Quarterstaff **

Basically after a long time rolling I managed to get the above with a plan to Dual to Druid at Level 7 with the help of the Tome of Charisma to secure the needed 17.

Leaving Monty and Xzar behind proved more challenging than expected and in previous runs I did fall early while trying to assemble my party. My intention was to supress Lupercus' level until all the team were assembled to try and get them on board with maximum customability.

First on my list was Safana who can be a little awkward given her quest. So Lupercus headed for her directly after looting Imoen and M&X. Managed to avoid any ambushes and was disturbed only by a couple of mobs which didn't prove difficult to defeat.

Leaving her quest for the moment we headed up to the Friendly Arm Inn and raised Safana (I'd got her killed deliberately to see if that would disable the timer on her quest. It didn't.) then headed east to rescue Viconia.

It was sometime after this that I realised I had to complete Safana's quest soon so borrowed the invisibility potion from Gorion's old friends and went back to the Lighthouse. While resting the party was ambushed by a sirine - luckily it turned out! With the help of Viconia's Commanding Words we were able to dispatch her and gained enough XP for Safana to level up and put more points into Find/Disable Traps :)

Stealthily entering the cave she managed to disable the Golems trap and liberate the treasure before gulping down the invis potion. Not sure if it was a BG:EE bug but her movement kept cancelling so her escape proved more stressful than it should have been. However job done and she was now a permanent member of the group.

Next on the list was Dorn so my merry band cleared the area south of Beregost then entered Nashkal. Pausing only to pickup the ankheg armour the road to the mines beckoned - and the ambush where Dorn makes his appearance.  This proved no obstacle and gifted Safana with a +1 weapon as well as adding a fighter capable of defeating Shar-Teel.

Detouring back and heading East from the Temple we came across our man-hating addition to the team. I'm sure she'll get on well with Safana - possibly an issue for another day :D Dorn proved the better man and the party clocked up a bit of XP with the help of Korax.

However this was possibly a mistake as by the time I returned to Naskhal for Edwin even through Lupercus was still level 1 Edwin was recruited at Level 4. However can't complain as I managed to get my team all assembled safely (there were some failed attempts before this write up!).

Currently party is: -

Lupercus: Level 3 Berserker (added a pip to Quarterstaff so *** now) Armed with +1 Staff from Silke, Plate mail, ring of protection +1, the protective belt from the Ogre.
Dorn: Level 3 Blackguard. Armed with his +1 2-handed sword Rancor, Ankheh Plate, Ring of Protection +1.
Viconia: Level 4 Cleric. Armed with 'Stupifier' +1 Mace, +1 Sling, +1 shield and splint mail.
Safana: Level 4 Thief. Armed with +1 Wakizashi, Gorions belt, Boots of stealth
Shar-Teel: Level 3 Fighter. plate mail plus ordinary weapons.
Edwin: Level 4 Conjurer. Ring of Wizardry.

Will probably clear the Gnoll Fortress first to keep Edwin happy and get me my +1 CHA before tackling the mines. Mulahay won't know what hit him ;)

So far, I've gotten the satisfaction of seeing Alesia's assassin and an army of Haer 'Dalis clones absolutely flatten a few cows. Those strikes were so hard that they probably went back in time to kill the cow's parents.

We actually started a couple of divine types - but they've already gone to that great graveyard in the sky as well.  The intention for next time is for Gate70 to run some of the game NPCs (one at a time) to accompany a wizard slayer (potentially dualling to thief).

After my recent poor form in MP I'm looking to improve next time.  I've just rolled my character up - named Leery!

Other option would be Viconia under sanctuary although with her strength it would have to be a no-gear stroll and require 2-3 uses of it to get there and back.

If you're still eager to help, B_V, you can take 174-215 if you like.

Confirmed Trilogy Succcess for:
*Alyssa - final post
*Pendal and Thimble - final post

These are already entered in Corey's hall of heroes.

There were a few that I wasn't totally sure about:
* Saros_Shadow_Follower's Astarta, using Improved Anvil v6

First TOB victory: http://social.biowar...42/177#12080717, but for this run Saros said that there was a bug in BG1 and the run technically was just BG2 + ToB.

Second BG2 start: http://social.biowar...42/181#12336734, Saros writes that this one was with a party largely imported from BG1. I didn't see any final post for this one, so it may exist in the next section of pages to examine? Or maybe Saros just stopped posting.

*PPewt, Anne (Sorceror) + Created party, using SCSII
TOB victory: http://social.biowar...42/175#11978830

I do not believe that this was a Trilogy run after a quick google search for any posts in the BG1 thread, but I suppose I could be wrong.

Hope this helps.

Russell II the Inquisitor and his band of paladins update
Traveling with MP characters: Hanna, Misty, Joshua, Paja, Forrest

The paladins have fought well, Protection from evil x6, true seeing, resist fear and greenstone amulet have won all party vs. party battles, including Drassus. There haven't been any deaths in the party for a long time. Money has been really good, so the party has splurged on lots of magical ammo - this in turn has made nearly every battle clockwork and quick. All pre-chapter 5 areas explored except Thay Wizards map and TotSC areas. Cloakwood ambushes weren't too much trouble, we used antidotes when needed but we rarely got poisoned due to the high AC of the most of the party. Strangely, we never got a wyvern ambush despite going in and out of the Cloakwood half a dozen times.

The latest action was battling Davaoern's battle horrors and Daveorn himself. We took no chances thus used two strength potions on the front-liners - this made our victories quick and clean. Hanna the Undead Hunter soloed Daveorn with lots of potion buffs and greenstone amulet charge. She also was using all our elemental resist gear. A few potions were also used against other mages in the complex, except Heirashan. Due to better calls for help in BG 2, when the party first showed themselves in the 2nd room on the 2nd level, Heirashan's entire contingent poured through the hallway. She showed up last, but concentrated fire of powerful ammo took her down before she could even cast a spell.

Natasha cheated somehow. She cast a lightning bolt that hit a wall, but somehow it went through the wall and injured our party! It killed two of her own men too...Hanna was safe due to a magic blocking potion, then the party assisted and finished Natasha off. Greenstone amulet charge was enough for the ogre mage. Since aquiring the Spider's Bane, Joshua has been meleeing instead of his bow, and things have worked well in this respect.

I'm not going to try to amass 450,000 experience to get our last levels, which would almost certainly involve Durlag's, all levels, and we don't fany our odds due to the traps. So upgrades/main story line pretty much from here on in.

Party Status:
Hanna the level 7 Undead Hunter, 77 HP, 295 kills, Greater Basilisk
Misty the level 7 Cavalier, 61, 258 kills, Vampiric Wolf
Joshua the level 7 Undead Hunter, 80 HP, 394 kills, Vampiric Wolf
Russell II level 7 Inquistor, 85 HP, 167 kills, Battle Horror
Paja the level 7 Inquisitor, 45 HP, 142 kills, Andris
Forrest the level 7 Paladin,  79 HP, 399 kills, Seniyad

Geoff - Sorceror. Update 1.

My world has been turned upside-down. Gorion is dead. Imoen and I spent the night running back to Candlekeep, wolves nipping at our heels in the dark, only to find that Ulraunt has barred the gates to us, perhaps forever. I can't help but burn with resentment. Doesn't the fact that I grew up within those walls mean anything? Bastards.

Gorion fell to an ambush. Pehaps he meant it as his final lesson. Choose your battles. Do not let them choose you.

***

The woods are filled with wolves. The road to the Friendly Arm is swarming with gibberlings. Imoen agreed that we should go to Beregost and try to find aid -- it is closer, and we are more likely to survive the trip.

Russell II the Inquisitor and paladin friends - City of Baldur's Gate

Since the team was primarily interested in upgrades and the main story line, a lot of stuff was skipped here. All tough fights were successfully dealt with via Protection from Evil x6, greenstone amulet, true seeing and resist fear. This includes Mountain Maulers and Jardak and his butler.

The toughest fight was of course, the Iron Throne. The team wasn't sure how to approach this but decided to an old standby of Corey_Russell (pro magic scroll and arrows of detonation). Since Forrest had the bow skill, he was nominated. We had to shuffle a lot of equipment around to give him the best chance possible to solo. I did about 5 potion buffs, two which were required otherwise he can't cast the pro magic scroll (note that with my install of EasyTute Pro magic scroll does NOT target, it's self-only) with his INT of 3. Well the pro magic scroll went up..and dispelled all his buffs! Oops!

Well, I had two more potions left, regen and frost giant giant strength, Forrest goes upstairs and starts unloading arrows of detonation (3 attacks per round). For some reason he accidentally targets enemys with his staff, so he ran around a lot unnecessarily. However, the enemies had a tough time hitting him, and finally Cloudwulfe is taken out by a +1 arrow - success!

Corey_Russell will think carefully on what the team needs for Candlekeep, and proceed there next.

Geoff - Sorceror. Update 2.

I've known Firebead Elvenhair ever since I can remember. He's always shown me respect whenever I ran into him during his annual visits to Candlekeep. Gorion respected him too. Imoen and I decided that we would stop at his home and ask him to shelter us, at least while we figure out what to do now that Gorion is gone, and now that Candlekeep is lost to us.

Firebead is as kind as he ever was. He gave us a bedroom to share on the upper floor of his home. Free of charge, no less.

***

The world is far more dangerous than I had been brought up to expect. To survive, our first priority must be to hide from any who would do us harm. Imoen has been practicing her stealth. So far, the city guard have given her the benefit of the doubt and have not arrested her despite her skulking about. I'm sure that if I can see her scrambling across the rooftops at night, or trying to slip into the shadows behind a post, the guards can see her too. But she's kept her sticky fingers to herself so far, and stayed out of trouble.

I on the other hand... well. Before we left Candlekeep, Gorion had taught me how to make objects stick together by fusing their auras. I could stick a broomstick to a table, or a book to the wall, for a few moments. I figured that, since I don't have Imoen's aptitude for stealth, perhaps I could prevent enemies from seeing me in another way. Maybe I could glue their eyelids together using my command of the power, and use any time gained to escape from attack.

I didn't exactly ask Imoen permission before I tested the idea on her. It worked well -- shockingly well. Her eyes were still fused shut 8 hours later. Fortunately the spell didn't last much longer than that. Even though the effect wasn't permanent, I'm not sure if she'll ever forgive me....

Gate70/Grond0 Multiplayer attempt 20 - (first & final update)
Om, dwarf fighter/tcleric (Grond0) & Brock, half-elf ranger/cleric (Gate70)
Image IPB
Image IPB

This duo had started promisingly ... hang on a minute, haven't I said that somewhere before!  Perhaps a bit over the top anyway as Brock had been killed pretty early on.

However, things had been easy for quite a while and, with 5th level cleric levels achieved, some friendly skeletons were now available to help out.  That should have made the encounter with Jalantha simple, but I was dozy (literally and metaphorically) and fell victim to her flamestrike.

Russell II the Inquisitor - FINAL BG 1 Update

@Gate70, Grond0 - sorry to hear of your guys demise. Losing a MP run to the same enemy, same attack as a previous MP run of your guys' sounds suspect - is there a reason the fighter cleric, just didnt put fire resistance (level 3 spell) on each PC so that you win for sure?

Corey_Russell had a brief scare - he forgot that the lightning bolt trap in Candlekeep Crypts is repeating! And with no way to disarm it...this forced Russell II (as the only person who has 24 STR and DUHM to get 25) to get free action and poison protection and lightning protection so he and Forrest (who was setting off the traps with a pro magic scroll) could finish the spiders, and then Russell II could open the crypt, which he did.

Everything else was easy, and Forrest soloed Prat's group with arrows of detonation, still protected by the pro magic scroll. Mirror eyes potions (2) were used to finish the baslisks then Russell II and gang cleared the crypts. After selling everything gold is awesome, 74,000 gold.

For chapter 7, party traveled exclusively in the sewers. Both Cythrandria and Slythe were defeated with protection from evil x6, true seeing, greenstone amulet and resist fear - slight change was Slythes buffs dispelled with a a dispelling arrow.

For the Duchal Palace the party did no buffs at all -- reason? Because Russell II put a dispel magic right on top of our 3 melees and Dopplegangers to remove the Dopplegangers' haste. This worked. AI was off, and Corey_Rusell carefully targeted a doppleganger that all 3 melees can reach (to kill it quicker). For the only time in the game, Corey_Russell also turned on target gone pause, to make sure no one does a wasted action. This technique was wildly successful - both Dukes survived! Sarevok took a swipe at Misty then was forced to run.

Thieve's Maze enemies were no trouble. With a character with 100% fire and lignting resist, they went invisible (via potion) and set off the 4 traps by the skeletal warriors. Then the party mowed down the skellies fast.

For the Undercity, Russell II led his troops to the Temple of Bhaal the LONG way - this avoids the undercity party altogether. Tamako is still waiting for us at the Flaming Fist HQ, but we never showed.

Time for the main event. I did a ton of buffs, then began my plan.

PHASE 1 - have Forrest dispel Sarevok's haste - Forrest's first shot was a critical and did the trick!
Image IPB

PHASE 2 - Angelo showed himself, and since Forrest still had time, Forrest dispelled Angelo's protections as well with Forrest's dispelling arrow
Image IPB

PHASE 3 - Sarevok is close now, a lot of traps are going off, and Forrest withdraws down and left - note that Forrest has a haste potion and potion of shielding (automatic saves), so Forrest doesn't get caught in the webs/stinking clouds. Right about now, Semaj shows himself to the group and malisons us. Forrest dispels Semaj's protections and Russell II used his True Seeing to remove Semaj's mirror images.
Image IPB

PHASE 4 - Semaj falls quickly. Now everyone concentrates fire on Sarevok, we ignore Tazok and Angelo is caught in a web.
Image IPB

PHASE 5 - Sarevok is near death, but so is Hanna. Hanna goes up in an effort to draw enemy fire away from the core of the party. She has 20 darts of stunning, and starts spamming them on Angelo. Angelo is still stuck in the web trap, but Hanna is trying keep him locked down.
Image IPB

PHASE 6 - The party's Thac0 and defense is too much for Sarevok and he falls!
Image IPB

Entire party is moving on to BG 2. I'm going to try to play BG 2 "slower" this time, and make a concerted effort to try to avoid chunkings in BG 2, which was the biggest problem in my last no-reload of paladins that got to Melissan. I also will need a good plan if I try to take on Firkraag in Chapter Two again. In that same pally run it was a wipe except the PC, and lost all the equipment too.

Not particularly, except that we tend not to use full buffs and I don't switch between spells memorized very often.  If I was going to rely on third level spells it would have been easy to just allow the skeletons to kill her while we were out of sight - but like I said I was a bit dozyImage IPB.

Leery - human wizard slayer (update 1 - rules of engagement)

Leery is the character I rolled up for the next multi-player game with Gate70.  I thought I would also see how he would get on in single player.  The intention is for him to dual to a thief at some stage; I haven't finally decided when, but it would be in BG2.

As a solo wizard slayer is a significant challenge anyway I won't put any further restrictions on Leery and will be playing as safely as possible, even where that results in the faint odour of cheese wafting around.

Normally I also play a strict no-NPC recruitment in my solo games, but I also intend to relax that for Leery just in order to allow him to get the tomes in the Candlekeep catacombs.

@Grond0 - sounds like you have a good plan. Looks like Leery can dual to almost anything but a druid, you got a lot of choices there. I think thief is a good choice though, then UAI can get past the Kensai restrictions.

In any case, best of luck with your new entrant.

Leery - human wizard slayer (update 2 - stretching exercises)

Thanks Corey - Leery's successfully completed a quick warm up and is ready to try something a bit more challenging now.

After completing the Candlekeep quests Leery picked over Gorion's remains before heading for the coast and an early appointment with Shoal.  A few axes were a cheap price to pay for the extra 21 HPs she granted.

On the way to Beregost he collected a sword from some gnolls - who don't need weapons any more.  Momentarily having had enough of combat he placated Marl and found a book for Firebead, before normal service was resumed as he took some spiders on a brief tour of the city (+10 HPs).

In order to complete his warm-up routine he went to the carnival to pick up one green scroll.  A second was purchased at Beregost temple on the way to the basilisk area.  Leery used a staff to pummel most of the basilisks (+9 HPs) before reviving Tamah and recruiting Korax to finish off Mutamin and his pets (+13 HPs).
