Gate70/Grond0 Multiplayer attempt 22 - (update 2)
Rose, human stalker (Grond0) & Grub, halfling assassin (Gate70)

After the early setback against Tarnesh the backstab twins set off in search of Shoal to get some quick experience.  She soon died of lead poisoning from Grub's sling.

Next the duo went in search of further stealth improvements - acquiring an appropriate set of boots each.  One of those was found in Ulcaster and there were a few nervous moments in ambushes on the way back to Nashkel before they eventually arrived.

Grub was keen to purchase an assassin's kit in Beregost of shadow armour and poison dagger.  To make that more affordable a range of quests were done to get reputation up to 20.  With upgraded equipment and a bit more experience both characters started doing more backstabs.  Co-ordination was a bit of a problem at first - one instance of that was when Bassilus was allowed to get a hold person spell off before Rose could hide.  Grub though managed to persuade the cleric to join him in a game of stone circles, where the aim is to hide from the enemy while circling a monolith.  Grub proved much better at this and a couple of backstabs saw Bassilus on his way.

With the green amulet purchased from Ulgoth's Beard the sirenes were a pretty easy target.  As it proved so were the golems - some sort of MP effect allowing Grub to successfully backstab them, while Rose's attempts just bounced off.

On to the main quest then.  Practice had made perfect by the time the duo got to Mulahey and they both landed backstabs.  He barely survived the initial damage to make some threats, but expired from the first dose of poison.  Grub deemed (correctly) that Nimbul would only need his attentions, but they joined together again to deal with Tranzig.

At the bandit camp the bandit archers were hitting Rose pretty easily, but also suffering many one-shots from a plague of backstabs.  Surprisingly Taugosz was one-shotted himself - well sort of: he was only hit once, though expired as a result of a double dose of poison from dagger and assassin.  Rose used a potion of firebreath on Venkt, Britik and Raemon, but it surprisingly didn't kill any of them.  That meant Venkt was able to do damage with his acid arrows, but a bit of hiding outside the tent allowed the duo to triumph.

Stats
Rose, stalker L6, 73 HPs, 94 kills
Grub, assassin L6, 29 HPs, 58 kills

Gate70/Grond0 Multiplayer attempt 22 - (update 3)
Rose, human stalker (Grond0) & Grub, halfling assassin (Gate70)

There were no incidents as the duo made their way through the Cloakwood to the mine.  The party there were rather easier than usual thanks to Grub's poison.  A single dose was enough to fire sling bullets from stealth at the mages - killing them both with single hits; the same poison also wounded Drasus.  Another attack on him pulled him away from Genthore for a backstabbing finish. Genthore got the honour of dual backstabs.

Going down the mine Grub borrowed the boots of speed to have a go at poison backstabbing Hareishan - but got a critical miss.  Deciding to leave her alone Rose & Grub went down to Daveorn where Grub demonstrated an ability to deal with traps.  Daveorn got a poison backstab and writhed in agony for a few seconds before expiring without completing a dimension door (to where Grub was waiting with another backstab ready!).

In the city an early target was the ogre gauntlets.  They were recovered easily enough - pity that Grub can't wear them and Rose doesn't want to!  Ramazith foiled Grub momentarily being positioned out of reach of a dagger backstab - but didn't survive a stalker one anyway.

The only nasty moment in the session was when Grub went to talk to Degrodel as a precursor to getting the Cloak of Balduran.  He lost control briefly (probably when Rose triggered the trap protecting the Helm of Balduran) and was spotted by Degrodel's goons.  Rose came swiftly across town to try and provide a distraction, but it was still a touchy business getting out of the house without being trapped.

The Iron Throne was investigated by stealth on the way to talk to Jalantha.  She didn't seem to hear too well, but got the point anyway (of Grub's poisoned dagger).

Marek surprisingly managed to get a confusion spell off through his poison.  Rose had a potion of magic blocking and used that, while Grub hastily dropped his weapons to avoid slaughtering any innocents.  However, he saved anyway and Marek expired within moments.

Rather than waste money in the inns Rose was determined that the duo could use their stealth abilities to sleep on the streets.  The guards seemed equally determined not to let that happen, but eventually had to concede defeat.

Stats
Rose, stalker L6, 78 HPs (incl. 5 from Helm), 117 kills
Grub, assassin L7, 34 HPs, 71 kills

Klonk / Imoen / Viconia (Garrick Kivan)
Shoal the nereid realises she is too short to smooch Klonk so smacks Imoen on the lips instead. Klonk persuades her to restore the fallen thief and then kills Droth the ogre mage with the help of two commands from Viconia. Shoal turns to thank Klonk only for Imoen to extract her revenge. Everybody levels up.

Garrick (bard 2)
Silke doesn’t survive a command so Imoen suggests Garrick travel with the party for a while. A pair of ogrillions are commanded, and Bassilus gets a double dose. Arghain survives one but a second is not required.

The sirines around the lighthouse are easy prey thanks to berserk, however the three flesh golems prove tougher (at one point Klonk was below his raged 15hp at 14hp and Imoen used an arrow of biting as he moved away).

Garrick has reached level 4 and is rapidly heading to level 5 but Kronk Klonk has an unexpected piece of news. “It’s not me Garrick, it’s you”. & so the bard departs.

Kivan (ranger 2)
Klonk’s winged helmet is causing him to miss important parts of conversations. Kivan is grumbling about fighting basilisks, only after 5 minutes of this does Klonk realise the ranger hates BANDITS.

After clearing out most of the basilisks Klonk loses his temper against Mutamin then kills the last two creatures. Viconia silences Kirian’s entire party then holds Peter and Lindin as Kirian falls. Baerin is Klonked soon afterwards meaning the two held victims have no reprieve.

Edwin joins briefly, trying out a cursed girdle and cursed bracers. We promise to return once we find a cure for him/her (or the ring of clumsiness if we make a detour).

Klonk is impressed with the kills Kivan is notching up, but the constant complaints of tiredness from the ranger and Viconia is worrying. Don’t they sleep at night...

Caldo, Krumm, Drienne, Gnarl and Hairtooth are all sorted out in one way or another (mostly one way) then Zal is asked the eternal question “do you feel lucky...punk?”

Nashkel mine is explored without a break. Viconia shows Mulahey how clerics really work with doom > silence > command but is unable to hold person before his appointment with the afterlife arrives.

The Wrecking Crew (Update 1)

I thought I would try a party of the same characters.  I briefly considered using bards, but decided that would be too much like hard work, so have just settled for an extremely low maintenance collection of dwarven fighters.  For what it's worth here they are at the start, though I wouldn't guarantee that the pictures align with the icons - it's a bit tricky being sure when even the female dwarves have beardsPosted Image.
Posted Image

Shoal and tasks around Beregost are normally enough for several levels for my solo characters, but the Wrecking Crew had to wait until talking to Noober to get their first upgrade.  They pushed on to third level in the basilisk area; the party also took their first damage there when attacking Kirian & Co.

Bassilus got one spell off, but to no effect.  Zargal & Co managed only one hit between them and provided everyone with level 4.

After a tour through the Cloudpeaks they headed for the Nashkel mine.  Mulahey managed to spit out his speech, but died before he could get back to his prepared position and his summons swiftly followed him.  Emerging from the mine the party confronted the amazons.  Acting as spell target Katana saved against 2 hold persons, before succumbing to the third. However, by then the battle was almost over and Maneira died before she could take advantage of the helpless Katana.

Nimbul failed to get a spell off.  In Beregost a spot of stealing got reputation back down to 9 in order that Boss would get horror as a Bhaal ability at the bandit camp.  The camp itself proved simple - Taugosz hit once, but no-one else connected and Venkt failed to get a spell off.

Everyone got level 5 in Centeol's lair.  Thinking I should be maximising XP the party went hunting phase spiders, although 2 characters got poisoned and taken right down on HPs by them.  I didn't heal them as I was seeing how far I could get with no use of magic items (including potions).  That proved to be not much further; none of the druids in the next area got a spell off, but Axe did have to resort to taking an antidote when a baby wyvern's poison proved too virulent to shrug off.

Arriving at the Cloakwood Mine Drasus rashly left the protection of the others and was soon overcome.  Katana acted as a spell target for the mages (boots of speed helping him drag confusion away); he saved and neither mage got the chance to cast again.  The Wrecking Crew are now resting in preparation for the mine.

Stats
Boss, fighter 5, 55 HPs, 80 kills
Katana, fighter 5, 59 HPs, 23 kills
2-H, fighter 5, 62 HPs, 28 kills
Axe, fighter 5, 66 HPs, 87 kills
Flail, fighter 5, 52 HPs, 42 kills
Hammer, fighter 5, 53 HPs, 60 kills
Boss has short-bow proficiency and Axe has been using throwing axes.  The others have very rarely used weapons they are proficient in, so the difference in scores reflects the superiority of the composite long bow (Hammer) to other missile weapons and the advantage of the heavy crossbow (Flail) over sling (2-H).  Katana spends a lot of time in melee or acting as a target as she has the only suit of full plate.

Good luck with the crew

Klonk / Imoen / Viconia / Kivan ( / Coran / Yeslick)
Viconia strikes again with silence > bless > hold person making Lamahla and her amazons easy prey. Nimbul isn’t quick enough with his casting and catches a few missiles before being Klonked. Tranzig gets an arrow up his shilmista and Ardenor Crush briefly becomes the centre of attention. Taugosz Khosann has a doomed hold before Venkt collects arrows. Viconia cures Imoen of poison while Klonk diverts the attention of Hakt.

Kivan takes the cloak from Cloakwood then returns to Beregost to purchase the composite longbow and more arrows. Imoen fails to pickpocket Algernon and Viconia is pleased to see the party reputation plunge from 17 to 9. Klonk learns how to scare people with horror as a consequence.

Coran (fighter 5 / thief 5)
The elf wants help retrieving a wyvern skull and this sounds like fun.

Imoen, Kivan and Coran all hide successfully before entering the abode of Centeol. Klonk tries out his horror and while it works the side-effect is that the spiders spread out instead of focusing on the half-orc. It becomes a race against time to kill them before they re-group onto weaker party members.

The body of  Chelak is returned to Tiber but Klonk is gifted with the Spiders Bane sword. A hamadryad is raged then a cave is investigated. Viconia dooms one wyvern just as Klonk criticals it for 50, then dooms a second as Kivan and Coran pierce it with arrows - Kivan killing it before the arrow from Coran can take effect. edited to add a screenshot.
Posted Image

Edwin is most disagreeable when we next meet, so Klonk gives him a ring of folly to go with his girdle and bracers. The way back to Cloakwood mine sees us collect some bracers from Meilum and some boots from Ulcaster.

Drasus and Genthore are silenced but not their mages. Neither manage a spell though, and with Drasus held Genthore is quickly overwhelmed. Three skeletons last long enough for Hareishan to thin out her guards while Imoen and Kivan position themselves to help Klonk tidy up the remnants.

Yeslick (fighter 4 / cleric 5)
A quick whip-round sees the ashideena war hammer, a flaky shield, a battered helmet, boots of avoidance, gauntlets of dexterity and golden girdle in the dwarven hands. The party formation sees him alongside Klonk, with Imoen and Coran in the middle and Kivan / Viconia arguing at the back.

The next room is rapidly turned into a bloodied mess, then Kivan sneaks into an armoury. Klonk starts to deal with Davaeorn as Kivan and Coran join in but they split away as a lightning bolt strikes, and Klonk finishes the mage on his own.

A mistake Corey :D (will correct)

Klonk / Imoen / Viconia / Kivan / Coran / Yeslick
Imoen reads the tome of dexterity; while handy for Klonk it offers more benefits to a thief. She reads the tome of intelligence too.

The butler, Jardak,Marek, Varci, Joia, Tarnesh, pantaloons, Landrin, Joseph, Noralee, Fergus and the Seven Suns are quickly run through resulting in a reputation of 15 and Viconia is starting to twitch. Aldeth Sashenstar is still at his woodland retreat and refuses to talk to Klonk - oops. His brother Dabron refuses to believe this was a hunting accident and has to be killed too.

Klonk, berserker 6, 46725 xp. 173 kills, greater basilisk. Spiders Bane 2 handed sword.
Yeslick, fighter 5 / cleric 5, 41166xp. 4 kills, mustard jelly. Ashideena war hammer / shield +1/+4 vs missiles.
Imoen, thief 7, 46275xp. 48 kills, Shoal the nereid. Eagle shortbow +2.
Coran, fighter 5 / thief 6, 54808xp. 25 kills, sword spider. Longbow of  Marksmanship.
Kivan, ranger 6, 37737xp. 59 kills, greater basilisk. Composite longbow +1.
Viconia, cleric 6, 47645xp. 22 kills, sword spider. Sling +1 / small shield +1.

Klonk / Imoen / Viconia / Kivan / Coran / Yeslick
(A trip to the ice island)
Andris, Beyn and Marcellus have a plethora of spells to use against the skeletons summoned by Yeslick and Viconia. Once the series of summons have gone Coran borrows the boots of speed to backstab Marcellus, only to miss. He fails to hide too but as Beyn and Andris are casting they fail to give chase and Marcellus is quickly outnumbered. Beyn takes a critical chunkstab of 72 and Coran fails to hide again despite having grabbed the shadow thief armour from Imoen. Andris looks to still be in fine fettle with mirror images at the ready so Coran suggests we rest and send in more skeletons. He doesn’t last long on his own.

The skeletons deal with two winter wolves, a mountain bear, Garan, Cuchol and another winter wolf. Kivan is acting as a hidden scout during battles while Imoen is being VERY careful to look for traps even with her boots of grounding (lightning bolts in these narrow corridors have wreaked havoc in many of my parties and I tend not to do this island as a result). She wants Coran to do the job so he can use the helm of defence too but his detection of traps is too weak (45% vs her 95%).

Imoen’s premonition of traps is working well (better than mine in the Candlekeep catacombs but that’s another story). Only time will tell if she can successfully negotiate her way through.

(a trip to the ice island, part 2)
Imoen shouts to Klonk, asking why he stashed all the potions before this trip. Absorbtion would be nice, meaning her teeth wouldn’t chatter so much with fear. She knows there’s a trap here somewhere but can’t find it. She edges forward, more and more nervous and then sees it. Relief.

The next trap has the marks of a fireball but Imoen has found it and removed it. The skeletons are pushed forward towards Tellan as the party are brought closer from the area where Andris chose to fight. Coran positions himself to backstab but Imoen talks Tellan into helping find the way out. Smart girl.

The three skeletons keep three winter wolves busy until Klonk wades in, and then they chunk Dezkiel. Imoen confirms there are no more traps and the party escape back to Shandalar. Imoen wipes her brow and suggests a holiday is in order - she’s been talking to Mendas and he suggests a pleasant cruise.

(edit, a bit cheesy using skeletons the entire way through but I've lost too many no-reloads in there. Garan didn't summon his ankhegs either).

All right, it's been a while but I figured I'd have another shot with my assassin, Daakaris. A rather stupid attempt at poisoning Tarnesh left him dead the second time I tried (I should have known... I did know, in fact, I just did it anyway) but I figured it might be third time lucky.

This time, instead of aiming to dual to Mage at 2nd (as I did the first time around) I'm going for Assassin 4 -> Mage.

Daakaris gave Imoen the dodge and, after some trouble with Gibberlings, picked up Gorian's stuff. He was mobbed pretty badly by more Gibberlings on the Coast Way and ended up running all over the shot. However, Posion made getting Perdue's Short Sword back pretty easy, and Joia's Flamedance Ring wasn't too hard (though he seemed unable to roll better than a 10 there). He also killed a weird ogre, delivered a letter to Mirianne, and took care of some tasks in Beregost (mod-based quests, like the Slime Quest). He also killed Karlat in the Red Sheaf with Poison (Full Plate and Packing Steel helped there, making him tougher but slower).

He's had a couple of scares, being injured by Gibberlings and waylaid once by Kobolds (only two had bows, and his missile AC with Sword & Shield is 1) but so far everything's gone fairly well. After hitting L4, I picked up Imoen (who thanks to L1 NPCs is now a L3 Sorcerer) and dualed to Mage. We'll see how much time I have to carry this from there.

The only other thing of "interest" was some crashing due to trying to dual-class in the Coast Way. I needed to fix Imoen's speed anyway so I've used Shadowkeeper to put him to the same HP etc he was beforehand (first time he levelled he rolled fairly badly).

Daakaris, Chaotic Good Human Male Assassin 4 -> Mage 1
HP: 16/22
Str 18, Dex 18, Con 16, Int 17, Wis 7, Cha 9
Proficiencies: Short Swords 1 (Missile 1 and Sword&Shield 1 inactive)
Thieving Skills: Hide 65, Move 20 (plus Dex) inactive
Spells: Find Familiar and Sleep, but learnt Identify, Blind and Colour Spray

Imoen, Neutral Good Human Female Sorcerer 3
HP: 16/16
Proficiencies:
Str 9, Dex 18, Con 16, Int 17, Wis 11, Cha 16
Spells: Blindness, Colour Spray, Magic Missile

Good luck The Fred.

Klonk / Imoen / Viconia / Kivan / Coran / Yeslick
(a trip to the isle of dogs)
After stashing non-magical missiles and equipping +1’s it is time to set sail for the Isle of Balduran. Klonk decides to investigate the wrecked ship of Balduran while the rest of the party stand guard outside. He emerges to say Karoug must have been the werewolf and the base of the ship is clear so Imoen can start looting while he checks upstairs.

A few moments later he returns, somewhat disheveled. Six wolfweres and a vampiric wolf have been despatched and he is certain Karoug must have been among their number. The party head up to search the second floor while Klonk considers how high these creatures have got. Perhaps he ought to have some help checking the next level?

Yeslick arrives as the first wolfwere falls, helping with two more and two vampiric wolves. Klonk grins, the numbers are thinning out so the remaining levels must be easy. He makes for the ladder but Yeslick suggests a rest. Lazy dwarf (but the rest is taken and a few buffs applied before tackling the final level).

Klonk has killed Daese and another wolfwere, while Yeslick is being torn apart by another wolfwere. Klonk extends his sword as Yeslick moves into a gap so Coran can add a backstab before looking for traps.

Three wolfweres are uninjured, as is Karoug, and the fourth is badly injured. Imoen arrives to backstab it, only for Klonk to claim another kill. This means Yeslick is no longer under attack (41/73hp) and he helps Klonk (85/93hp) with another wolfwere while Imoen frees a trap and grabs the logbook of Balduran. Coran has grabbed Daese’s robes and hidden behind a pillar as Imoen removes a second trap. Kivan has arrived to start on another wolfwere too.

Klonk steps back as Coran chunkstabs the wolfwere he has badly wounded then the attention turns to the final wolfwere. Coran has hidden again and arrives with what he thought was a backstab but wasn’t. He turns to hide again but Klonk finishes the job. Just Karoug left now.

Klonk hits for 23 with Spiders Bane (BGT feature) so Coran tops that with a backstab of 39 and hides again. Karoug, Klonk and Coran all hit, leaving Karoug near death and Klonk somewhat injured.Posted Image

Imoen dives in as Coran hides, but misses. Klonk has taken two more hits and is heading towards the danger zone, but replies with a critical hit just before Coran applies a final backstab.Posted Image

Only afterwards do we realise Viconia has remained safely downstairs (not planned)

Daakaris did a bit more stuff before I called it a day. A brave (read: foolhardy) forray into Cloakwood retrieved Gurke's cloak, and luck was with Melicamp as we restored him to non-chickenhood (the map mod makes the travelling all a bit different, and I even got waylaid by Wyverns at one point which was pretty upsetting). He also spoke with Lord Foreshadow (love the guy) and killed some random folks, finally reaching L2 Mage and having the first dream. Imoen's Colour Spray and Daakaris' Sleep proved to be pretty useful - in particular, the number of spells per day a Sorcerer gets even at lower levels really takes the pressure off the early stages of the game.

We hand a doll, cloak, belladonna, dead brother and crying baby back - that’s the chores done. Hang on - WE FORGOT THE BABY (anyone could do it, ask the UK Prime Minister). Back we go, with Klonk maximising the boots of speed for half the journey..

There are other wolfweres about but Klonk isn’t interested in farming them down (even though XP is still quite low at 55-72k.

Kaishas Gan has infected us with lycanthropy, this could be terrible news but Imoen is gamely counting on her fingers. “Half orc. Half human. Half Bhaalspawn. Half werewolf. Half wit”. She hides in the shadows as Klonk picks up on the final point, chuckling to herself.

Kivan, Coran, Imoen and Viconia switch to +1 missiles while Yeslick stands beside Klonk to clear the village of werewolves. At one point we are caught in a pincer movement but Yeslick has expected this and holds station until the party can aid him. Only two wolfweres are fought in the caverns and Kaishas Gan is susceptibly to all our weapons.

Baresh is waiting for us at Ulgoths Beard and dares us to return to Mendas. Go on then!Posted Image

Our weapons bounce off this thing that Mendas has become, this Selaad. Klonk grabs Kondar, Coran the sword of Balduran and Imoen the silver dagger while Yeslick tries to land lightning blows with Ashideena. Selaad is badly wounded as Viconia lands a doom at the second attempt and Yeslick commands him.Posted Image

Imoen slips into the shadows “You’re still a half-wit though”.

Gate70/Grond0 Multiplayer attempt 22 - (update 4)
Rose, human stalker (Grond0) & Grub, halfling assassin (Gate70)

After informing Duke Eltan of the schemes being hatched by the Iron Throne, Rose & Grub were sent to Candlekeep to investigate further.  After being framed and, briefly, sent to jail, the duo found themselves in the catacombs.  Grub immediately made himself at home.
Posted Image

Waiting at a safe distance Rose had been listening to Grub describing his activities - something along the lines of:
"Right, I've disabled that nasty sucker in the corridor.  Now moving up to the entrance to the first tomb.  OK, I can see two traps there.  And done - phew.  Moving on to the tomb itself now, though it's funny there were only two traps by the door - my grandad always used to say bad things came in threes.  Oh Sh ..."

Fortunately, Rose had a potion of cloud giant strength in her inventory.  After resting (to get DUHM), she used a scroll of magic protection and the potion to loot the first two tombs.  The third was guarded by spiders but she ran them through a fireball trap before keeping moving and shooting them in between dimension doors.  In fact she could have just meleed them as she'd also used a protection from poison scroll (with all Grub's stuff to carry there was no space for seldom-used luxuries like that).  Adding DUHM to her buffs allowed her to loot the strength tome before she used stealth to get past dopplegangers, Prat and basilisks.

Rose made it back to the City and has just had Grub raised at a temple.

Stats
Rose, stalker L6, 78 HPs (incl. 5 from Helm), 122 kills
Grub, assassin L7, 34 HPs, 71 kills, 2 deaths

You wouldn't be laughing if you were standing face to, erm, knees, with the Crew!

Wrecking Crew (update 2)

Moving down the Cloakwood Mine, Hareishan was killed without casting any offensive spell, though Katana got poisoned twice by the guards causing him quite a bit of damage.  Resting to cure that resulted in more guards turning up, so Boss used his horror for the first time on those and the guards waiting downstairs.

After hacking their way through to the final level the Crew, for the first time, all used melee weapons on the battle horrors (who needed a critical to hit Katana).  Katana then confronted Daveorn using a potion of magic blocking.  That protected him from a lightning bolt; his colleagues were not all so fortunate, though were able to avoid a second bounce of the bolt back along the corridor.  The follow-up fireball and dire-charm bounced off Katana and the only other spell Daveorn completed was a mirror image - which didn't save him for long.

After looting what they could the Crew displayed their mean streak as they left (that was unintentional).  They just ran away from a couple of wyvern ambushes and have now arrived in the City.

Stats (no deaths to date)
Boss, fighter 5, 55 HPs, 104 kills
Katana, fighter 5, 59 HPs, 38 kills
Axe, fighter 5, 66 HPs, 112 kills
2-H, fighter 5, 62 HPs, 43 kills
Flail, fighter 5, 52 HPs, 50 kills
Hammer, fighter 5, 53 HPs, 70 kills

The dubious duo continued to travel the Sword Coast, fighting monsters and doing... stuff. In particular, they were attacked outside the FAI by a Mage, who managed to get several spells off (Glitterdust vs Imoen and Horror vs Daakaris), though non of them did much (both saved, and anyway Horror probably wouldn't have been a deal). After that I started casting protection spells before entering any inn, which came in useful in Nashkel where we killed another assassin with Blindness.

A ghast attack also gave us the XP to level up again.

However, an improbably blow from the Blinded Amazing Oompah did 32 damage to poor Imoen. She only has 21 health so I'm surprised it didn't chunk her, and Daakaris spent most of his remaining gold getting her brought back (after spending a lot on Mirror Image scrolls from High Hedge, taking three attempts to scribe it...). Now I'm contemplating going in search of Brage, though Blindness under SCS is more of a nuisance now so I'm not sure how best to tackle him.

Daakaris, Chaotic Good Human Male Assassin 4 -> Mage 3
HP: 28/28
Str 18, Dex 18, Con 16, Int 17, Wis 7, Cha 9
Proficiencies: Short Swords 1 (Missile 1, Long Swords 1 and Sword&Shield 1 inactive)
Thieving Skills: Hide 65, Move 20 (plus Dex) inactive

Imoen, Neutral Good Human Female Sorcerer 4
HP: 21/21
Proficiencies: Missile Weapons 1
Str 9, Dex 18, Con 16, Int 17, Wis 11, Cha 16
Spells: Blindness, Colour Spray, Magic Missile, Web
Deaths: 1

So far Imoen's spells have really been doing most of the heavy work, with her dart proficiency helping a lot. The Fairy Dragon familiar has of course been instrumental, making a risky but effective tank thanks to Mirror Image and a great decoy with its high speed.

Klonk / Imoen / Viconia / Kivan / Coran / Yeslick
There are far too many arrows +1 taken to and brought back from the isle of Balduran, good job they are relatively cheap. Klonk decides to hunt down Greywolf before moving on to his next stage of trilogisation. The +1 missiles are tearing him to pieces and Yeslick finishes the job by hammering exposed arrows until they are fully in.

Klonk stares in awe at Durlag’s Tower, vowing that one day he’ll own somewhere like that. Imoen snorts and says that his only chance of doing so is to be the consort of a spoilt rich girl. “If that’s what it takes” says Klonk and Imoen’s jaw hits the ground. Gotcha.

(A trip up Durlag’s Tower including the ramparts and roof)
Kagain grabs the helm of Balduran and RoP +2; these together with his cloak of displacement take his save vs death to 0. A lesser basilisk is gradually flattened. Once he saves with a 1 against a greater basilisk Klonk decides it is safe to join him and speed the process up. What can possibly go wrong?Posted Image

(so presumably Yeslick rolled a 0?)

Viconia suggests we should go buy a few scrolls of stone to flesh.

Klonk / Imoen / Viconia / Kivan / Yeslick / Coran
Yeslick has an unbuffed constitution of 17, increasing to 19 with DUHM. His save vs death remains at 0 with either but according to the tables (yeah I know) that should reduce by 1 from 17 to 18). Anyway, he’s off against the next greater basilisk but with a +3 to throws thanks to a potion of stone form. The job is soon done.

Daital looks easy enough but he confuses five of the party before he is chunked. Imoen hides and tries to intervene as Klonk hits Coran. It sort of works, and Klonk switches to Kivan. Both elves are badly wounded, and as Yeslick kills Kivan Imoen thinks it could have been worse. Then Klonk chunks Coran a second or two before the party recover.

(Could have been worse, at least Coran was a BG1 only character and there are several reasonable candidates to re-fill slot 6 with).
