Ashanti, Elven Beastmaster: BG1 OverviewBefore Ashanti gets too far into BG2, I should probably take a moment to record her BG1 adventures for posterity. This was a largely uneventful run so I'll dash through it quickly.
First: Ashanti's character record (that seem like a good place to start...).

As you can see, she was built like most of my characters- given a high dex and con but with the rest of the numbers allocated based on RP considerations. I'll admit that after having fiddled around with my Minsc clone -and in the process being reminded what a luxury a high natural strength is- I was semi-tempted to grant Ashanti the boon of bulging muscles. But in the end, I decided to go my usual route: the character in the picture looks strong, but not massively so. 13 made sense to me. Her proficiency points were allocated to two-handed weapon, short bows, and quarterstaves- all reasonable choices in BG1 and beyond.
So: onto Ashanti's adventures. While the beastmaster kit has a reputation for being underpowered in BG2, that logic unambiguously does not apply in BG1: beastmasters are outstanding in BG1. There are few easier solos in BG1.
Candlekeep to MulaheyAshanti took my characters' standard fasttrack route Lion's Way->Coastway (RoP)->FAI(RoW)->High Hedge (Wand of Sleep, Potion of Freedom)->Beregost (Marl, Spiders, L2, Mirianne RoP)->Nashkell (NoM, Pro Pet, Shield Amulet).
Her first kill came on the Coastway where she stalked and then felled a belt thieving Ogre.

The bulk of her early experience came in basilisks land.

After a touch of item collection aided by the Wand of Sleep, Ashanti made the trip north to Ulgoth's Beard and then took down Mulahey under Potion of Strength, Potion of Freedom, Greenstone, and Shield,
The Bandit CampThe Bandit Camp tent was cleared uneventfully using Pro Fire + Potion of Fire Resistance-> Necklace of Missles. Stealth kept the battle an intimate affair: Taugosz and his buds were skipped entirely. No screenshots here I'm afraid. Just close your eyes and picture a blind ranger running around blowing stuff up: that was basically it.
The CloakwoodAshanti safely traversed the Cloakwood with the aid of her familiar, Winston. As a reminder, Chaotic Good characters get the Fairy Dragon and its glorious Invisibility 10' Radius.

Beastmaster stealth (not familiar invisibility) go Ashanti pass Drasus.

It also allowed her to slip into Davaeorn's quarters unnoticed where Ashanti quickly dispatched the master of the mines running Pro Magic, Potion of Regeneration, Oil of Speed, Potion of Cloud Giant Strength, and Shield.

With all those lovely buffs running -and a Potion of Absorption at the ready- it seemed a shame to pass Drasus and his buds a second time without saying hi.

The GateFastforwarding a touch, we see Ashanti handling the endgame. Having opened with a Potion of Freedom rather than a Potion of Invisibility, Slythe fell without making any progress.

Krystin's Skull Traps proved more dangerous though, in the end, they were far from threatening.

Dispelling Arrows, Aule's, and well chosen buffs proved more than the Improved Dopes could handle.

And that, of course, left naught but Sarevok. I'll tack on Ashanti's final BG1 battle in a moment.
Best,
A.
