Wierdo's band got somewhat distracted while in the city of Bladder's Gate. They did a bunch of minor quests. Naturally, Wierdo thieved heavily and scored many minor treasures this way. She also managed to get noticed a few times, and lost a couple of rep points. However, her reputation was soon repaired back up to 20 by doing lots of goody quests. Mostly, even when she was noticed, Wierdo would just run away, become invisible or hide in shadows to evade the Flaming Fist.

At one point two assassins, Lothander and Marek, poisoned our party. As part of getting the antidote she helped Lothander remove his Geas, which involved begged a Book of Wisdom from the priest at Tymora's temple and giving it to Jalantha Mistmyr, the B!tch Queen of Umberlee. Wierdo felt shame about who she would be delivering this tome.

It wasn't right that such an evil priestess should benefit in such a way, especially at the expense of Tymora. Wierdo respected all of the gods, but Tymora was one of her favourites and often relied on her. Umberlee would gloat over another victory at Wierdo's expense, and this one a blow to her rival. But if Wierdo didn't do this then the whole party would die. There had to be a way around this dilemma.

First, Wierdo asked Yeslick to confirm (Detect Evil) that Jalantha was indeed evil.

Image IPB
"She really is an evil B!tch."

Wierdo sent Annakin in to negotiate. He demanded the scroll from b!tchy-bum Jalantha before giving the book. Then he refused to give the tome to her! Of course this pissed her off. Oh well. It happens. Wierdo got in a decent backstab and Annakin took care of the rest. They also to kill a few evil priestesses. Just one priestess got off a Hold Person spell on Wierdo, but she held tight to her Arbane's Sword +2 which repels hold effects.

Image IPB
"You're not getting that book!"

Wierdo did reneg on the deal with b!tchy-bum, but that is acceptable given her chaotic nature. Of course Wierdo is an honourable gnome and can usually be relied upon when she gives her word. However, in this case, the ends justify the means. This also represented some kind of revenge - Wierdo had never felt comfortable about being Umberlee's pawn and killing those fishermen near the ankheg infested farms, when all they were doing was trying to earn a basic living without the goddess constantly ruining things for them.

The net effect of all this is that Wierdo got what we needed: the geas lifted, the child's body recovered, the poison antidote would be found - and yet Wierdo still had the Tome of Understanding.

Figuring that Tymora's priests would want the tome back, Wierdo tried to present it to them - but they just kept ignoring her offers. Oh well, if they really don't want it then it would be a shame to waste it. Time to read this tome and find out what it says!

I've found one of the tomes myself but I still haven't decided how to use it. It'd be wasted on Jaheira and I was going to give it to Pallyn to read, but I wonder whether I might pick up Yeslick or Branwen later on and give it to them. Certainly, having Pallyn read all three tomes might be a bit of a waste since he can only cast 1st-3rd level spells, but he's the only one I know will be in the party forever and not get chunked (at least without losing me the challenge). He doesn't have his Cleric abilities at the moment, though, so I've decided to wait a bit and think it over.

It wouldn't be a waste on Jaheira as she will get more bonus druid spells from having higher wisdom. If you have her in your party for BG2, you would then be justified in SKing her character to add the extra wisdom.

Another thing to think about is that mages need wisdom in order to use a Limited Wish spell effectively (e.g 12 wisdom is required to protect the entire party with Globes of Invulnerability). Also, wisdom can influence certain conversation options (again, mainly in BG2).

In another game I used a Tome of Understanding on Viconia in BG, and then SK'd her +1 wisdom in BG2. This was not a "no-reload" game. Even so, one might argue it should be allowable as it is in spirit of the game and not really cheating.

Wierdo's party got into a tavern brawl in the Blade and Stars, and the famous Gorpel Hind and his merry band decided to join in and help!

Image IPB

Wierdo's Bretheren were actually doing pretty well all by themselves. Buddha had stunned Gretek with Stunning Blow, and Yeslick got a Hold Person to affect the wizard.

In fact, they were worried that the Gorpel guys would actually kill one or two and reduce the potential experience.

Image IPB

Check out this rotund bartender. TWICE (from Xan & Wierdo) he gets Magic Missile spells cast right past his ears!

Maybe it sparked some magical talent in him and he later went on to become BG's first overweight mage?

Hargis, NG human male beast master.

Coran demonstrates Varscona to Grael before Imoen holds him.
Image IPB

The demonknight attacks Coran, who has boots of grounding, rings of free action & fire protection and the helm of defense. We reply with several hits while Imoen and Quayle cast ineffective spells.

Alora (bullet +2) 11 damage
Myself, 9 damage
Myself, 8 damage
Alora, 10 damage
Coran (Varscona), 15 damage
Myself, 9 damage
Ajantis (arrow +1), critical 10 damage
Coran, 11 damage
Alora, 11 damage
Ajantis, 12 damage
Myself, 9 damage
Ajantis, 10 damage
It looks like a long drawn-out affair but almost every shot hit home and our casters only managed 2 spells each,

Image IPB

We can't quite believe we are uninjured from this encounter. We're less fortunate back in Ulgoths Beard, where Imoen, Quayle and Ajantis get roughed up in an ambush so we rest before continuing.

A second group outside the cult HQ are easier to dispose of but a third group bruise Ajantis, Alora and Quayle so we rest again.

I switch into Karajahs leather armour and sneak downstairs with Alora to thin out the cultists (no risks taken today). Once Tracea Carol is alone we return upstairs and arm ourselves with our best arrows/bullets. Then I realise we have no arrows of dispelling so we head to a store and stock up. Imoen treats us to 6 potions of mirrored eyes. We buff (protection from evil/fear, armour, haste, DUHM, bless, defensive harmony, mirror image) and drink the potions before descending.

We split up quickly. I summon some monsters while Quayle adds skeletons and Coran melees Aec'Letec. Alora and Ajantis use two arrows each to kill Tracea Carrol then re-focus on Aec'letec, as do I. Imoen fails to malison Aec but some of her magic missiles still land. Quayle successfully dooms our foe then succeeds with a malison.
Image IPB

Coran gulps a blue potion as a precaution, while Quayle hits with a Melfs acid arrow and a second. Imoen despairs as a hold monster fails. Alora looks to have defeated Aec but the final arrow from Ajantis overtakes her bullet to claim the kill.
Image IPB

We check nobody is dying then decide to do a final shop before hunting down Sarevok.

Coran, fighter 7 thief 8. 242 kills, Slythe.
Hargis, beastmaster 8. 548 kills, sirine queen.
Imoen, mage 9 thief 4. 131 kills, Ramazith.
Alora, thief 10. 155 kills, Andris.
Quayle, illusionist 7 cleric 7. 59 kills, greater wyvern.
Ajantis, paladin 8. 362 kills, demonknight.

Hargis, NG human male beast master.

Our one stop shop results in us selling a few items and not needing to purchase anything else. I clasp my golden pantaloons tightly before announcing that Sarevok is our next target.

The thieves maze is soon behind us and a final group of mercenaries aren't as well protected against fire as Coran is. Tamoko is next, then we equip magical arrows/bullets, review our spells and rest before confronting Sarevok.

We cast a few spells (fear, haste, skeletons) before adding two webs and one stinking cloud. Coran uses a scroll of protection from magic and draws our enemies out. Immediately Sarevok is held then doomed by Quayle, and as we close in Semaj arrives. I use an arrow of dispelling and we target him. He manages to charm Quayle so Ajantis uses another arrow to dispel it.

Alora kills Semaj, and as Sarevok is still held & badly wounded we target Angelo. Quayle is webbed so watches as I kill Angelo. Tazok is next, falling to Imoen.

Sarevok is alone, held, doomed and unconscious but not for long.

It wouldn't be a waste on Jaheira as she will get more bonus druid spells from having higher wisdom.

Jaheira has 15 Wisdom so would get a bonus 2nd level spell from each of the first two tomes, and a bonus 3rd from the third. However, 2nd-level Druid spells are pretty poor, IMO, so it'd be mostly wasted until giving her all three, which would still only get her an extra 3rd level.
Pallyn has 18 Wisdom so stands to gain a 1st and 4th, then a 2nd and 4th, and then a 3rd and 5th. Of course, the 4th and 5th are useless to him now.
If I get Yeslick or Branwen (or Viconia, only she's evil) the tomes would be a lot more useful for them, but they both start at only 16 Wisdom and so only get a 3rd, 4th, and then a 1st and 4th together. The 4th-level spells would be useful, but I don't want to risk them dying and taking the tomes with them. One thing to note, though, is that I found two (I think there were two, anyway) DH weapons which grant +1 Wis whilst held which could also be vastly useful, though they mean no ranged weapons, and no use of better (more damaging) weapons if any such show up. For Pallyn, now a Mage, this would be OK I guess, but not so good for Yeslick who's a Fighter/Cleric.

The Adventures of Pallyn the Sorrowful

We sold some stuff, and then decided to go and explore a little. Obviously dealing with the Iron Throne is a pressing issue, but we'd had enough of that damn forest and wanted to travel for a short time. So, we wound up in the valley of the tombs.
Here, we poked around quite a lot and disturbed (and killed) a lot of undead monsters. Of note was a tomb-raider who'd disturbed a revenant - the creature managed to hold Khalid and deal some damage before Imoen did the same to it - and a somewhat crazy mage intent on developing a slime-controlling spell. Even more paranoid than most mages, this guy flew off the handle at us and attacked.

Image IPB

I sent Khalid wide to engage with the mage directly, using the Boots of Speed to evade the jellies. Luckily, it wasn't necessary as the madman was quickly shot down by the others. However, the jellies proved highly resistant to our attacks, so we closed in on the left one in melee. Pallyn dropped back, but not before being hit with a gob of toxic slime. He has an innate Slow Poison ability, but not sure if he could manage to pull it off with the toxins already coursing through his body, he grabbed an antidote and necked it in record time, then fled to heal himself.
Meanwhile, Imoen's Magic Missile had proved useless, so she cast Haste instead and, pulling out her sword, leapt into the fray. Mirror Image allowed her to draw the attention of the jellies without being hurt. Whan Pallyn recovered, he pulled out his staff and joined in too, and we quickly vanquished both oozes.

As we killed the second one, some skeletons appeared and started hurling daggers at us, so we killed them too. High on adrenaline and Imoen's magical Haste, we stormed on into the cave behind them and made short work of the ghasts there, too.

So, we've done pretty much all of interest in this area now and have headed back up to the Cloakwood, stopping off to trade and rest on the way. We had a sketchy moment when an ettercap poisoned Jaheira and, after Pallyn cured her, another interrupted her healing spell. However, we're back at the mines now and about to descend. This is the first bit since the early levels I've had significant worry about, but with everyone ~L6 (Jaheira is almost L6/6 and Pallyn will shortly after that reach L6 mage and regain his Cleric spells) I don't think there's much more I could do to prepare short of taking on two other people. So, onwards and downwards it's to be.

The Adventures of Pallyn the Theurge

We descend into the bowels of the earth, cutting our way through the Iron Throne guards on the first level and soon finding ourselves against a mage on the second. Not wanting to take any risks, we buff up and send in a pack of hasted summoned gibberlings to distract our enemies. Web, Horror and Entangle incapacitate most of them (and, unfortunately, most of the gibberlings are webbed up too, but never mind). Arrows and bullets make short work of the mage, and a well-placed Fireball deals with most of the guards, leaving the rest as a mopping-up operation. The only hitch is when Khalid gets caught in the web and hit by a poisoned arrow. He seems fine, but quickly quaffs an elixir of health to be sure, as soon as he gets free from the sticky strands.

Pallyn and Jaheira both gain levels, regaining Pallyn his Clerical abilities. We also rescue a dwarf named Yeslick and, realising we left all our good armour and Cleric items in a sack in Beregost (hope nobody chances upon that!) we were about to leave when it occurs to us that the Iron Throne likely have an armoury down here somewhere. So, we continue onwards.

Deeper and deeper we go, Khalid with his mighty axe running hither and thither cleaving the locks from chests and wardrobes, until we find and raid the armoury and kit everyone out with armour, shields and helmets along the way. Yeslick lacks the (overpowered) magical equipment of the rest of the team, but at least he's kitted up, and Pallyn can now use the Large Shield Khalid keeps spare to lower his AC below 0.

The only difficulties we have are a few injuries from the guards, a mage to the east who takes a few Magic Missiles to clear away her Mirror Image, and an Ogre Mage who causes Confusion in Imoen and, just as we think we have him on the back foot, gets off a Horror affecting most of the party. Luckily, Jaheira's Dispel Magic clears most of it up.

On Daevorn's level, the Doom Guards prove to be more of a nuisance than I expected, doing a lot of damage to Khalid despite his apparent protection from fire (I think it's a bug and it's meant to show the protection from magic icon) so we try and rest. Unfortunately, on the second or third attempt, our scuffles with the guards who keep finding us draw the attention of some Black Talon Elites. I throw a Sleep at them, but not before they can launch their arrows. Terrifyingly, one of them explodes, killing the guards and scorching pretty much everyone there. I was about to flee, but with Sleep taking hold, I dish out some pain first, and pick up their equipment.

With Yeslick nearly dead, I've headed back up to find a safer place to rest. Thankfully, we've recovered now, and are deciding whether to press on and kill the master of the mines, or get out and sell off our loot (and maybe buy some more healing potions, now that I've started using them).

The party is now looking like this:
Pallyn L5->L6
Imoen L4->L6
Khalid L6
Jaheira L6/L6
Yeslick L4/L5 (I think - the guy has less XP than us, anyway)

Are you playing with the SCS option to let him use axes? I have and it has been interesting. I was also able to buy the Frostreaver +3 and a Throwing Axe +2 from Bone Hill for him (before I picked him up, actually!). He is a pretty good tank, esp. with Full Plate +1 and +2 large shield.

You can also get a Throwing Axe +2 from Prat, Level 3 of the Candlekeep Catacombs.

No; I heard about that component, and it sounds good, but I don't have SCS installed. It's a shame, because I have Khalid using a DH axe right now even though he has +++ in long swords. It might be nice for Yeslick to use that and him the swords, though I have some cool blunt and spiked weapons in Beregost he could use.

Starting a new game with Flapper.
Image IPB
Given that she has a chance of killing herself every time she uses a spell my intention is to cast very few of her own spells, so she will essentially be trying to solo BG1 as a very poor fighter.  In the unlikely event I make it to BG2 (with the availability of sequencers for chaos shield) she'll have a chance to spread her wings a bit.

Mods being used are:
CharmPatch
BG2 Fixpack
BGT
Dark Horizons
Dark Side of the Sword Coast
Northern Tales of the Sword Coast
Northern Tales of the Sword Coast (dialogue patch)
The Secret of Bone Hill
BG1 Mini-quests and encounters
The Grey Clan
BG1 NPC Project
Gavin
BG1 UB
BGT Tweak Pack
Gavin BG2
BG2 UB
SCS
Solaufein
G3 anniversary
Turambar Fixes and Tweaks
SCS II
BG2 Tweak Pack
Item Pack
aTweaks
Worldmap
L1 NPCs - Branwen bugged, monks bugged - should be solved in next release.
Widescreen Mod
Generalised Biffing
I'm not expecting to do most of the quest mods with Flapper, but have installed them now for possible future use.

Thus far just completed Candlekeep.  Risked one spell in order to acquire a familiar (and the huge benefits of being able to travel invisibly).  Fader (fairy dragon) tried out her mirror image to keep Mendas occupied while Flapper shot him up.  Fader was unlucky to suffer damage from the one attack Mendas succeeded with, which meant a stay at the inn, but finally it's time to leave the old home

Wow, brave. I'll be interested to hear how you come along, Grond!

Meanwhile, The Adventures of Pallyn the Theuge continue...
With his mastery of magic both arcane and divine now growing strong, Pallyn decides it is time to end the master of the mines once and for all. Plans are set, hobgoblins killed, and we descend once more to the fourth level.

I know that the corridor to Daevorn is trapped - we tripped two (the Doom Guard ones) before, and Imoen disarmed another, but there might be (read: is) another. So, Imoen casts Invisibility on herself and proceeds along, searching. She finds it, and also locates Daevorn, so she motions (invisibly) to Yeslick to throw a Dispel Magic down the hallway. He does, but before he can finish casting, trigger-happy Immy decides to lose an arrow at our quarry, who rapidly teleports away with Dimension Door. Darn.

Pallyn calls upon the gods of the dead to avenge those who have fallen at Daevorn's hand (i.e. casts Animate Dead) and five skelletons rise to his command. Daevorn pops back up to taunt us, but then teleports away again - however, he has allies (DH adds two new baddies down there, a mage and a thief). Ranged weapons and summoned creatures make short work of them, though.

After Khalid cleaves the thief in two, we turn our attention back to the master of the mines. He futilely throws Dire Charms at us, which bounce harmlessly off our skeletons, and falls back. Pallyn and Imoen use Magic Missiles to clear his Mirror Image, but the battle is truly won when Jaheira uses another Dispel and actually hits him. This simulatenously strips him of his protections and releases our kobolds, who he'd just hit with a Hold Person. With no Protection from Normal Missiles and half a dozen kobolds training him down, he falls quickly.

The biggest issue here was not the battle, but the carrying of the loot. Outside, we also bumped into more angry druids, which gave us even more to deal with! Luckily, we're back in the FAI now, with Pallyn, Jaheira AND Yeslick all gaining levels. Next up is the grand city of Baldur's Gate, though I worry about the Stone of Askovar, since I've never played it before and it could come into effect at any moment.

The team:
Pallyn L5->L6
Imoen L4->L6
Khalid L6
Jaheira L6/L7
Yeslick L5/L5

After seeing Gorion gunned down Flapper turned her attention to clearing the initial map area.  Wolves, bears and gibberlings are all easy meat, but the crew introduced by Dark Horizons were not.  The invisible goblins in particular made Flapper use up all her potions.  Eventually down to the last kobold Flapper relaxed slightly:
Image IPB
Note to self: check and double-check before assuming kobolds don't have a bow.  Good job that Fader is providing a HP boost.

After turning invisible Flapper travelled down to Nashkel to get a trigger for a Bhaal power before coming back to Beregost to rest. Placating Marl gave a level and obtaining a cloak reduced reputation before resting.  Forked out for a better sling and dealt with a spider infestation before making a quick trip south to find a misplaced letter and deal with some rude mercenaries.  Back in Beregost got to level 3 by leading Karlat round in the normal merry dance:
Image IPBImage IPB
Flapper's chaotic tendencies got the better of her when she thought it was only fair that other people shared the risks of doing magic.

Back South again for an extended exercise period.  No problems initially as Tristan and Isolde had a lovers tiff, that ended in a tragic accident:
Image IPBImage IPB
However, it took Flapper ages to kill Tristan with her sling only hitting with an 18 or higher (I'm not making use of any overpowered mod items, so Isolde's throwing dagger didn't get brought into action).  Tried to recruit hobgoblins and gibberlings to help, but they were useless, so Flapper just carried on twirling until something eventually gave.  A couple of hobgoblins were much more useful against the officer attempting to arrest Viconia - he failed to get a spell off.

Carried on south to sanitise the road to Nashkel.  This area was much easier than the last, though a measly 35 XP for an orc archer seems ridiculously low.  Also managed to acquire a nice ring from a confused gentleman.  Moving on to Nashkel Fader got a rare outing running interference for me on Neira.  XP for her was worth another level.  After resting it was back north to the crossroads.  A bunch of converted gibberlings and xvarts helped tackle the caravan bandits and the ogre fell to the sling.  However, I had forgotten there were yet more Dark Horizons assassins here.  Fortunately I saw Malious before the invisible thieves saw me.  He was charmed, which led to his swift demise.  Flapper tried to use xvarts to make Phallen visible long enough to charm, but had no joy and she has just made a tactical withdrawal to the Friendly Arm to mull things over for a while.

I believe the DH assassins on the Coast Way aren't meant to pop up until Ch2, but on mine they were there from the start. They sure gave me a hell of a fright. I think I might have a slightly old version, though, since I still have the bugged dagger (it causes a crash in the south Beregost road area, so I replaced it with throwing daggers).

The Andrizztyl Saga, DAY 49: The Luck and Intelligence of Staying Popular
The Provisional Dragonteeth arrived to the pissant town wizard's high hedge with little difficulty and proceeded straight (through nuisances) to the keep to conduct business...

Image IPB
Imoen: "Ohhh, no... Poor chicken..."
Kivan: "Poor mage..."
Gavin: "Poor Melicamp..."
Minsc: "Poor Thalantyr..."
Thanantyr: "Poor Thalantyr?"
Minsc: "He wanted help, but could not be saved..."
Andrizztyl: "But... that can't be that..."
Thalantyr: "But I'm alive."
Andrizztyl: "But you weren't supposed to kill *him.*"
Thalantyr: "Kill who?"
Andrizztyl: "Kill your apprentice."
Minsc: "If only he hadn't killed Thalantyr."
Andrizztyl: "If only he had..."
Gavin: "No, no, Melicamp was the apprentice."
Minsc: "Oh..."
Dynaheir: "Console thyself, Minsc. We shall carry on."
Minsc: "So Melicamp killed his master..."
Thalantyr: *slaps forehead* "So much for wishing you intelligence..."
Minsc: "Poor Thalantyr..."
Dragon: "Poor Minsc."
Thalantyr: "Why do I live in this pissant town?"

And they proceeded to buy numerous spells at high cost after amassing 30K gp once Thalantyr bought the jewelry. Dynaheir proceeded to fail to convert to her spellbook every single 3rd level spell, while Imoen drank a potion obtained via pickpocket from a merchant at the Nashkell Carnival that raises INT to 25 (and lowers STR and DEX to 3). Before buying yet another round of 3rd level spells for Dynaheir to waste, Andrizztyl got restless with spending and memorizing and decided to kill the pissant town wizard's golems instead...

This didn't go so well... When he stabbed one, not only did it do no serious damage, but also Andrizztyl was immediately pummeled to half his HP and, most importantly, the pissant town wizard witnessed it... and turned hostile. [Ode to the no-reload challenge...] Of course Imoen was still at STR 3 and couldn't move, and given that once combat began she couldn't remove her armor to cast defensive spells, she also couldn't cast her Invisibility on herself. Thalantyr made short work of her despite healing potions, and that, as they say, was that.

With everyone outside it was decided to return inside to get Imoen's things, and Andrizztyl decided Thalantyr probably had an invisibility detection spell, so Gavin went in instead using his Sanctuary. [And once again the latest SCS worked since Thalantyr didn't simply run outside.] Of course, Gavin summoned some skeletons first which, as soon as he went inside, ran off to the northeast for no apparent reason to battle more skeletons out of view... Alas, Thalantyr had positioned himself at the door to the inner chamber, so there would be no way to enter where Imoen's things were. While deliberating, Andrizztyl crept in after all to hopefully trigger the wizard to come after him instead, but he couldn't get back into shadows after repeated attempts once he'd gone around the back of the chamber circle.

Meanwhile something odd happened. Perhaps it was simply the expiration of Gavin's Sanctuary, but it appeared as if Thalantyr simply got wise and cast a Sunfire at the floor to bypass Gavin's Sanctuary altogether. Gavin was thoroughly blasted and only made it out the door by chance past the swinging arms of the second golem. Of course the golem followed, but Minsc killed it. And then Thalantyr followed...

A combination of axe swings and missiles took out the pissant wizard (since there had been no time for Dynaheir to memorize anything new either), though the process was helped along by the odd  fact that Thalantyr kept targeting Gavin whenever he'd see him. With Gavin simply ducking in and out of his sight to disrupt his concentration, the powerful mage Thalantyr at last fell...

Image IPB
Minsc: "Yes!!!"
Dynaheir: "Yea? Doest thou not see what hath happened?"
Minsc: "But we have *kicked* the butt of this magical menace! And look at that XP award!"
Kivan: "Substantial though the gain was... so were the losses..."
Minsc: "What do you- oh. You meant there are no more spells to buy."
Dynaheir: "Indeed... nor the mage robes that both Andrizztyl and I wereth saving for..."
Gavin: "And I liked those protection scrolls that might've come in handy. We didn't buy even one."
Kivan: "Not to mention the variety of potions..."
group: *silence a few moments*
Minsc: "Poor Melicamp..."
Dynaheir: "And where ist our brave golem-killer now?"
group: *looks around*
Gavin: "I believe he is still inside..."
Kivan: "Hiding??"
Gavin: "I... don't know..."
Andrizztyl: *emerges with Imoen's things* "Right! Ready to go? Nice battle, eh? OK, off to turn in the Bassilus bounty..."
Minsc: "Maybe... the Andrizztyl does not see what happened either..."
Dynaheir: "I know not a single 3rd level spell!"
Andrizztyl: "At least it wasn't a reputation loss..."

Nevertheless off they went, encountering what has become a familiar scene by now along the way... And they arrived at the Beregost temple where Gavin was accorded some praise for the success of the Provisional Dragonteeth...

Andrizztyl: "Now *that* is what I'm talking about!"
Dynaheir: "Aye, but, Andriz-"
Andrizztyl: "It is well nigh time you've come through with the coin."
Keldath: "At last you're satisfied with something..."
Andrizztyl: "Satisfied we are! 5000 gp for a bottle bomb and a few lost arrows."
Dynaheir: "Are you not remem-?"
Andrizztyl: "I almost might forget about the wyvern head payment you owe us."
Keldath: "Ah..." *sighs with a glance to Gavin* "Well, if ever that should come about, it would be a pleasure to bestow that reward as well."
Andrizztyl: "As well you should..."
Dynaheir: "Andrizztyl!"
Andrizztyl: "Hm? What is it?"
Kivan: "Imoen..."
Dynaheir: "Aye, that..."
Andrizztyl: "Oh, right... may as well while we're here..."

And they did that as well...

Image IPB
Imoen: "This is the *last* time!"
Andrizztyl: "Of the three times, yes, this would be the last."
Imoen: "And you're not gonna kill me ever again, Bufflehead!"
Andrizztyl: "Well, the fates being what they may, Tymora's will being the fickle-"
Imoen: "The *last time*!" *kicks Andrizztyl hard and exits with Gavin trying to heal her on the run*
Andrizztyl: *wincing* "That's really starting to hurt... Good thing she's not a monk..."

Loaded with items they decided to return to the Carnival to stash. Andrizztyl checked in on the status of the Great Gazib, but apparently he wasn't stuck in the table where he'd been last seen... The scared gamblers, however, had assembled into a strange grouping...

Their first destination was a place called the Bluebell Woods no one had heard of before... Immediately upon arriving they were beset by phase and sword spiders, but managed it. The rest of the woods were also manageable [if completely new to me, since I've no idea which mod created it- suspecting DH for reasons which shall become obvious], replete with Andrizztyl backstabs. These backstabs worked in every case- even making nusances a one-hit wonder- except the most important case when he tried it against what turned out to be a very powerful archer and got a critical miss. Still it all went without major injury to any, and the two odd hostiles by the bluebell tent yielded up some more overpowering items [since the party was really lacking for them] and obscene XP for how easily they went down...

Also in the area Andrizztyl discovered that despite the numerous web traps and results of being Held by them, he was otherwise unaffected... This was later investigated with Identify on all items to find that the hobgob Boots of Stealth he'd gotten so early on were also fitted with Freedom somehow... Why not?... Also the ring they'd gotten from Lord Foreshadow was not a simple +2 CHA ring but instead could raise anyone's CHA to 18, so in combination with the +2 CHA cloak, even Andrizztyl with his otherwise CHA 9 (after the Gnoll Stronghold) could be seen as a great leader type by everyone... except his own party, of course...

From there the Provisional Dragonteeth sunk their fangs into an area nearby, finding themselves at the height of their popularity (Rep 17) after Blinding a Krumm and handing over a feline corpse to a child. They even managed to take out an ogre mage, but alas it was a Kivan arrow, not an Andrizztyl backstab that felled it, despite Andrizztyl's best effort to sneak in first... And from there the Provisional Dragonteeth flew west to use Andrizztyl backstabs and Andrizztyl's first Fireball to discover how fast battles could be over.

Upon arriving at the area, however, a messenger who had apparently been following the party for some time arrived simultaneously. Once again Gavin was being summoned back to the High Morninglord Keldath for instruction. Andrizztyl promised to go immediately... and finished off the area... And then went to round out their trip by stopping by a certain area where a certain paladin had wanted extinguished a certain group of ogres... This time the Andrizztyl backstab didn't work due to a critical miss, and- as would continue to happen far beyond the 5% chance normally to be expected of critical misses- he was forced to flee back to the party without a single blow landed...

But that wasn't the real debacle of the area... Before they could speak with a superfast drow wielding dual scimitars south of the lake, Imoen's failed pickpockets left the matter rather unresolved...

Andrizztyl: "It's not for me, mind you. It's for Dynaheir. You know- the journal."
Drizzt: "How many times must I tell you... you've overstayed your welcome!"
Dynaheir: "Doest he knoweth where beith my journaleth?"
Andrizztyl: "Well, I never did this quest before, but I think so."
Drizzt: "You're petty thieves! Don't bother asking!"
Imoen: "I'm not petty! I've swiped some pretty good stuff before."
Gavin: "If you wish, I could speak with you instead of-"
Drizzt: "And is that supposed to be a solution? Three times you let this little fool attempt to steal things from me!"
Andrizztyl: "Well, she misclicked the 3rd time, if you want to be technical about it."
Drizzt: "I do not..."
Dragon: "Maybe we should just kill him and take his stuff."
Drizzt: "Who said that?!"
Andrizztyl: *to Dragon* "Not with Haste like that, I'm not trying it..."
Dynaheir: "Are thee sure that thee cannot at least pointeth us to where my journal ist supposed to be?"
Andrizztyl: "Yes, and you don't have to give the reputation point thing if you don't want."
Drizzt: "You've made your bed: lay in it."
Kivan: "Are you truly the great Drizzt Do Urden?"
Drizzt: "Does the mere mention of 'Drizzt' attract your ilk?"
Andrizztyl: "Tell me about it..."
Drizzt: "I shall not."
Kivan: "It is a shame that you will not help us after our assistance in removing the gnolls for you."
Imoen: "You weren't even there! It was Bufflehead and me who killed 'em."
Kivan: "Well, we're the same group, if you want to be technical about it."
Gavin: "We did try to pickpocket him after all..."
Imoen: "Hey, whose side are you on?"
Drizzt: "I was not endangered by a few gnolls."
Andrizztyl: "It wasn't just a few. I have a screen shot of that one."
Drizzt: *lifts an eyebrow* "Thrice as many and I would not have broken a sweat. I've sparred with demons from the Nine Hells themselves..."
Andrizztyl: "So? I can say that too..."
Drizzt: "But you can't do it!"
Andrizztyl: "Can too!"
Drizzt: "Can not!"
Dynaheir: "Imoen... didst thee see a journal onst him?"
Imoen: *shrugs*
Dynaheir: *sighs*
Kivan: *pulling Andrizztyl by the shoulder* "We will trouble you no more..."
Drizzt: "About time... And don't forget to practice your pickpocketing skills for next time!"
Imoen: "Bufflehead!"
Andrizztyl: "Ah, at last another drow incurs the Wrath of Imoen..."

And on their way back to the Carnival stashpoint they encountered twice as many wyverns as once encountered... but it went quite well ultimately... And after plenty of unloading the Provisional Dragonteeth decided to continue from where the Duo had left off... at the Nashkell mines... After snatching up a ring that the Duo had neglected to collect in their first foray, Andrizztyl got to show what his 50% trap removal could do, and also cast another Fireball. Skeletons assisted in the rest...

Then they came upon a group of duergar who once again had strange notions of what Andrizztyl looked like... but an Andrizztyl backstab on the leader and later a thief assisted in correcting the dirty duergars' mistake. The rest went down by normal skeleton slaps and ranged fire, and now the bounty of overpowered items increased by another degree of magnification... Nevertheless when they tried to move southward across a bridge they encountered what seemed like endless kobolds from every quarter, and the skeleton and archer technique didn't do so well. With Dynaheir unable to cast Sleep, Imoen's Sleep depleted, Andrizztyl's Fireball done, and Gavin' skeletons gone, it was a scramble at the end... but they managed...

In Mulahey's quarters they attempted to hole up at the entrance while buffering themselves with more skeletons, and it mostly worked. No one was in the least threatened by the half-orc cleric, except for Xan perhaps...

Image IPB
Andrizztyl: "Right! So Imoen's going to stay down here while-"
Imoen: "What?!"
Andrizztyl: "We'll be back in a while, I swear."
Imoen: "Is it because he's an elf too?"
Xan: "Technically I'm a surface elf, not a drow, notwithstanding my present dismal dwelling..."
Andrizztyl: "We're rescuing someone, right? Adventure and fame and all that?"
Minsc: "And fighting the good fight of goodness!"
Xan: "Good grief..."
Imoen: "So you're just gonna leave me down here?"
Minsc: "Boo would not let me let the Bufflehead forget you... and neither would I!"
Andrizztyl: "You'll be like a stone in my shoe until you return... Besides, you know the 6 party member limit."
Imoen: "Then *you* stay down here!"
Andrizztyl: "Wait, can I do that?"
Xan: "Not likely..."
Andrizztyl: "See? Xan says no."
Imoen: "How convenient..."
Gavin: "I volunteer to be the one to stay." *smiles to Imoen*
Imoen: *smiles back*
Andrizztyl: "And as soon as you're dismissed you'll run off with all that overpowered equipment. Not a chance. I'm trusting Imoen only."
Dynaheir: "So thee leaveth behind only those who thee trusts most?"
Andrizztyl: "Uh... something like that..."
Imoen: "poppycock."
Minsc: "Boo says the same thing."
Dragon: "You tell 'im."
Andrizztyl: "Don't you start..."
Xan: "Please... let us get this doomed mission of disaster over with... I've languished too long in torture to delay my fate any longer..."

And they climbed back up the levels with Xan the Cleric/Mage who couldn't use his own magic longsword or a number of other weapons clerical and mage, but at least could wear the duergar's magic plate to be on the safe side. They collected as much as they could of the loot that they'd acquired on the way down and did make it back to the Carnival with little issue where they dropped off Xan, leaving him to hold (but not wield) his magic longsword... Then they did return to pick up Imoen... who delivered another Imoen Fury Kick to Andrizztyl, and the Provisional Dragonteeth set off through the caves until they came through a strange opening that would not allow any travel back into the mines, but which still seemed to be able to allow travel from the mines out again... a giant check valve of sorts...

And it was about then that Gavin reminded Andrizztyl of his promise to pay yet another visit to His Highness. About to depart immediately, Andrizztyl thought of the last time they'd rushed there only to be greeted with the common knowledge of Bassilus. So they continued to press on through the area, encountering larger, more varied groups of nuisances- insisting on continuing to exert their nuisance existence- as well as another kobold horde... this time dispatched with another Andrizztyl Fireball (and backstab).... More tricky was a sequencer-happy mage who sicced jellies on the party after copyright infringement litigation was filed.

Trickier still was a revenant who single-handedly overwhelmed the party when Andrizztyl refused to return its +2 dagger. First it ran after Andrizztyl (whose magic boots prevented him from being Held, it seems), but when it emerged outside, it immediately began pounding Minsc with damaging Hold blasts, also Holding Gavin and Kivan in turn and damaging Dynaheir and Andrizztyl. Everyone was forced to start using healing potions for once, though Gavin had to exhaust his spells healing Minsc to keep him from going under. If it weren't for Gavin's skeletons the revenant would've gone against everyone more in earnest, and with no magic affecting it and only the best of magic weapons damaging the thing, it's not sure they'd have made it. When Minsc snapped out of his Hold, he chopped the creature down from where an Andrizzyl backstab had put it shortly before.

After that beating, the nearly cracked Provisional Dragonteeth traveled straight to the Beregost temple again... well, after resting in the revenant's crypt and emerging to another round of nuisances and ankhegs... and then dropping off things at the Carnival again... And then they approached Keldath again...

Image IPB
Andrizztyl: "Wait, wait... I wasn't paying much attention until you said something about a substantial reward?"
Gavin: *sighs*
Keldath: "Yes... quite substantial..."
Andrizztyl: "Like 5000gp substantial or 50gp substantial?"
Minsc: "Yes! We will do it!"
Gavin: "Like Minsc says, sir. So long as everyone agrees..."
Keldath: "It is a difficult task, so I do not send you there lightly..."
Andrizztyl: "Not nearly as lightly as you send messengers halfway across the Sword Coast...."
Dynaheir: "I agree as well. It is not certain that a few disappearances could meaneth great peril, but we shalleth goeth witheth valoreth..." *Pheweth...*
Andrizztyl: "... who could easily be killed by dual wyverns, mind you..."
Keldath: "Very good. And you, young lady?"
Imoen: "What? Sure, I guess. It sounds important enough."
Minsc: "And may thwart another evil lurker!"
Andrizztyl: "But about that reward... Can't be a tad more specific?"
Minsc: "Though the Bassilisk was not so much a lurker after all..."
Andrizztyl: "We hate to go on missions without a little clarity first..."
Keldath: "I assure you that you'll be pleased with the reward..."
Minsc: "It is perhaps better to say that the Bassilisk was stalking..."
Andrizztyl: "See now, I really don't know how assured you could be about that..."
Keldath: "Hm... with you... perhaps not..."
Kivan: "Minsc, there are many great Stalkers out there who do their own good in the world..."
Keldath: "But I would bet so..."
Gavin: "Me too, sir. I trust your judgment..."
Minsc: "Yes! Then Boo and Minsc will say that the evil Bassilisk was prowling, not stalking..."
Andrizztyl: "So we're to go out in grave risk to our lives... because you 'bet' we'll like the reward..."
Keldath: *looks to Gavin almost pleadingly*
Gavin: "I'm sure the High Mornmaster will pay at least what he did last time..."
Andrizztyl: "So you're 'sure' too then..."
Imoen: "Come on! Let's go see what it's about!"
Andrizztyl: "Where does he get off calling himself a 'master' of 'morn' anyway?"
Gavin: *with apologetic looks back to Keldath* "Let's be on our way. We can discuss all of this on the way..."
Andrizztyl: "So long as he gives what he's supposed to give for the wyvern head as well!"

And they headed straight for the Burning Wizard to see about a female rogue there [who I'd been curious about from earlier games and only now knew the purpose of]. She wouldn't talk... except for 50gp... and then she wanted another 50gp... Before following up on the rogue's leads, Andrizztyl sent Imoen in to pickpocket her and then the pesky halfling running about the place. Neither had anything on them, but after Imoen foiled it once the halfling showed that he wouldn't be trifled with...

Image IPB
Imoen: "Hey, you can't do that!"
Zhurlong: "Oh, yes, I can!"
Imoen: "But you're a pickpocket yourself!"
Zhurlong: "What?! How dare ye accuse me of that!"
Imoen: "You are and you know it!"
Zhurlong: "Prove it! Have I ever nicked ye once?"
Imoen: "Uh... no... but that's because we're onto you already. We don't need to lose 50gp on you."
Penny: "Well, you lost twice that on me..."
Zhurlong: "Ha ha! Who's the pickpocket now, thief!"
Imoen: "You should watch it! Maybe someone might just step on you!"
Zhurlong: "And suffer a 4-point reputation loss as well? Not a good idea..."
Imoen: "You... you... pigknucklewallop!" *storms out*
Zhurlong: "Can you believe she tried to accuse me of that...?"
Penny: "You are, Zhurl. We all know it. But you're *our* pickpocket... unlike her..."

And ultimately the party found themselves at a locked door in the middle of Beregost that they couldn't get into. After giving everyone an "I told you so" look, Andrizztyl then took them to the Feldepost Inn while they were in town and discovered he had almost exactly enough for a Helmet of Charm Protection. Leaving the party with only 43gp, Minsc donned it, and after a rest in the spider's nest and a 1pt reputation increase from a paladin, they headed west again.

Very soon after arriving they came across a beautiful sirine that didn't seem too unfriendly, so Gavin volunteered to say hello. Alas after it kissed him, things got ugly... [Wasn't there supposed to be an ogre mage here? Not sure what happened except that while Held, she couldn't exactly ask us to stop fighting...] But the five remaining Provisional Dragonteeth proceeded on... Andrizztyl tried another Andrizztyl Backstab... which left him pummeled by two ogrillons and running for his life... Then, having clearly not learned his lesson, the mage-thief snuck behind carrion crawlers, backstabbing three to death before fleeing a fourth...

That's when he came upon a group of ogrekin... just standing there...

Image IPB
Andrizztyl: "Look... I know there's no TV in this world... but watching a rock?"
Ogre Beserker: "Him good point. Maybe we smash head instead."
Ogre: "Mmm. Pudding."

Andrizztyl: "Hm... maybe rockwatching isn't so bad after all..."

And when another attempt to cast Fireball into the midst of an enemy failed for no apparent reason [since once again he wasn't wearing armor and there was no "disrupted" message], the ogrekin got their chance to heave clubs and two-handed swords while the drow fled for his life again... And the entirety were defeated by the overpowered chomp of the Provisional Dragonteeth's ranged weapons...

Then they came upon a man in black robes. They considered that he might be of help to them or even might know a way of resurrecting the fallen Gavin rather than forcing them to return to a temple for 800gp. So they approached him, and, well pickpocketed him... And once again Imoen botched it... [Or rather I overclicked...] And they had yet another blow to their reputation and another loss of a potential ally...

Image IPB
Andrizztyl: "But there's a guy we know, right? And he's dead- no fault of his own, trying to do a good deed..."
Surgeon: "Are you still talking to me?"
Kivan: "Apparently..."
Andrizztyl: "So if you could just Resurrect him or something? I mean he's been dead all this time. He'd never have let us do that to you."
Surgeon: "And you want me to bring him back to life to serve you lot? Off with you!"
Minsc: "He was a great warrior! He was almost going to get a *tattoo* before he died!"
Surgeon: "And that's supposed to convince me how exactly?"
Andrizztyl: "Look, he was a good influence on us. We need him. Don't hold him accountable for our mistake. We didn't mean to let this happen..."
Dragon: "Yeah, not again anyway..."
Surgeon: "Again? You've been on a pickpocketing rampage then?"
Andrizztyl: "Thanks there, 'dragonblood...'"
Dragon: "Don't mention it..."
Surgeon: "And I was your latest victim, it seems. Yes, I'm missing several potions. You should be ashamed of yourselves!"
Kivan: "You might think..."
Andrizztyl: "I can explain. It isn't what it looks like."
Dragon: "Not the best excuse, drow..."
Surgeon: "No, if you can manage to connive your way into my pockets, you can do your own Resurrecting..."
Andrizztyl: "OK, just a Raise then."
Surgeon: "Away!"

And after making a pretty picture of colourful dead wolves (and some more sirines) they headed back to the "Mornmaster" to raise the poor Gavin... Alas upon arriving at the Temple with their veritable tails between their legs, they were accorded the greeting of a group of well-prepared merceneries who insisted that Andrizztyl remember their names... but whose names Andrizztyl promptly forgot. The chattering Dragonteeth immediately started running toward the temple, but that was only delaying the inevitable, so while Dynaheir cast Invisibility on herself and joined Kivan, Minsc, and the chainmail-clad Imoen (who thus couldn't cast spells) to run just south of the temple, Andrizztyl gulped an Invisibility potion and entered the Temple courtyard.

A funny thing happened though because all but the human tank- i.e., the mage, cleric, and dwarf tank- instead pursued the invisible Andrizzyl into the courtyard despite his being... well, invisible. Andrizztyl tried to get out via the south door, but the human tank was there with two of the cleric's skeletons. (OK, have it your way...) Taking a feather from the old bird tactics at the gnoll stronghold, Andrizztyl simply planted himself then in front of the door, once again demonstrating his uncanny ability to prevent movement without physically stopping anything or being seen or heard in the process... and for whatever reason the remaining Molkar three just stayed there at the southeast doorway, fidgeting about, rather than simply coming back around through the southwest door. Minsc with Kivan's and Imoen's ranged fire then took out the human tank and clerical nuisances.

Dynaheir broke her Invisibility to break down the mage's Mirror Image with Magic Missile through the doorway, but the mage got off a series of Sleep spells that put Minsc and Dynaheir unconscious for a time, but with Andrizztyl blocking the door, they were in no danger. For whatever reason at one point the mage did decide to come around the corner... to be mown down immediately by a recently awoken Minsc and missiles. Then Dynaheir cast Blindness at the cleric who in turn cast Silence on her. Both spells worked, but, when the cleric came running out after Dynaheir's last position, Dynaheir's dagger still worked wonders on the cleric, while the cleric's options were nil. A backstab from Andrizztyl took the remaining dwarf tank near as needed to finish him off at leisure by missiles.

Then they Raised Gavin... And after an uncomfortable but brief moment with the Mornmaster- whose repeated shakings of the head made them wonder if he might be having a siezure- they departed back west to a lighthouse. Arriving to the dark downpour of a sea squall, Andrizztyl proceeded to lead wolves to a rain of missiles and a group of 12 or more hobgoblin elite archers (and some melee) to a well-placed Fireball (fortunately not dampened by the rain). Then they started in on sirines, using a constant strategy of letting the helm-equipped Minsc attract their attractions while Andrizztyl closed for a backstab and Kivan remained in the area for archery. This went fairly well until they met a Sirine named Sil who decided to remain a blue-circle until issues were resolved with an old man.

After a lady in the middle of nowhere upped their reputation a point- and purse by 50gp- they surrounded the old man in a nearby abandoned shack. Gavin determined that he was Chaotic Evil... as were his own skeletons, it seemed, which perturbed him much more... So they pestered the Chaotic Evil old man until he brought his goons... from the closet... which had been empty... and small... much too small for four goons... but ok... The skeletons and an Invisible Andrizztyl blocked their advances, though they had an archer and mage as well. Imoen and Dynaheir's Magic Missiles (and Kivan's archery) removed the mage while Imoen's Sleep and then Dynaheir's Fear disabled the rest of them in turn while Minsc and Gavin clobbered the old man. Then Imoen sent a Hold while Dynaheir sent a Blind and the frightful group were unable to do anyone any harm. So it went rather well, all told...

Then they slept to regain their strength and spells and returned to Sil who left with her two accomplices, but not before Andrizztyl suddenly convinced everyone to fire on Sil... who did fall. Her companions made it out safely, however... Inside Andrizztyl's trap detection skills were being honed to their max. [I was trying the "random traps" component of some mod, but it seemed as if it simply placed traps everywhere with about 6 to dismantle.] He managed quite well, even backstabbing usefully and without getting clobbered while Minsc and Kivan followed up with magic missile fire. After finding the great stash, however, Andrizztyl did manage to step on a trap... but [*whew*] it was just a Hold trap... though if his boots were supposed to have Movement and prevented the revenant's magic... then... Oh, nevermind...

And they headed south where they first encountered some gnolls. Well, Andrizztyl did, and once again found his Fireball fizzle in his grasp for no apparent reason. So they chased him down, lumbering into missile fire. Due to Andrizztyl's sticky fingers, they encountered an out-of-phase warrior who was intent on casting single magic missiles at Andrizztyl until he could get out of the warrior's view. Then the warrior started in on the party, distracted by Gavin's Chaotic Evil skeletons enough for Minsc, Kivan, and Gavin to get in some +2 melee weapon attacks. Dynaheir's repeated Magic Missiles were useless, as was any other magic attempted, so the overpowered dagger was better... With Andrizztyl sneaking in to backstab once with his nasty short sword, the warrior did fall. Then they found another warrior and said only one word to him to find themselves suddenly back in  Nashkell's temple where they were awarded another reputation point...

Then they went outside and turned in a symbol that Imoen had been carrying since waiting down in the depths of a mine, and they gained yet another reputation point... Now up to 16, but still down from the Provisional Dragonteeth popularity peak of 17. They sought out a woman who had asked about her husband's ring, but only found the daughter and decided not to be rude. Perhaps the woman would show up later... In the meantime they headed north to find another mercenery calling himself Nimbul. This name was memorable for he was indeed nimble in making sure Andrizztyl couldn't sneak up behind him, but not in avoiding missile fire, much less the axe of Minsc the Buttkicker... and he died while successfully visibilizing the party...

Returning to the Carnival to rest and perhaps be able later to find the woman with the missing ring... and husband, of course... the Provisional Dragonteeth went into the dentures mug for the afternoon...

Vardamir and his party of adventurers decided to look for the bandit camp, clerics and all.  Monty continued his scouting in the shadows, thus making bandit encounters much easier, avoiding many ranged assults.  Vardamir talked his way into a job as a highway robber with a bandit commander named Raiken, and then convinced Tazok of the same with a little help from Viconia, once they were led to the hidden camp.  Then they all went to work.  The first attack brought half the camp against the party.  Holds worked well, but Monty took a lot of arrow damage despite the boots of avoidance.

Image IPB

(Vardamir achieved level 5 mage status!)  Before taking on the other half of the camp, Branwen grabbed the +1 shield and hammer, while Xzar and Viconia had a quick chat.  The second wave did even more damage, and before all the bandits could be Held, Monty and Viconia were dead (Viconia never put on a helmet!).

Image IPB

Xzar then picked off all non-held bandits with damage-based spells while Branwen and Vardamir summoned skeletons.  That combination secured the victory, and Vardamir scouted the main tent using Sanctuary.  The party healed and set up an ambush with skeletons in front.  Branwen lured the bandits out of the the tent, where the battle went well.  Vardamir's Command knocked the Mirror Imaged Venkt uncontious (it looks kinda cool when all those mages fall down!) while Xzar's Horror sent Raemon and Britik into a panic.

The skeletons did a great job (landing 2 critical hits in the process) and eventually took down the two fighters.  When the mage got back up, he did cast Horror, which sent Branwen into a panic, but Vardamir corrected that mishap.  After that, it was easy taking care of Venkt and Hakt.  Inside Vardamir and company learned that the Iron Throne was behind the whole bandit thing.  Branwen saved versus a trapped safe and only took 9 damage from a lightning bolt while wearing Mulahey's old boots.

On the way back to the Friendly Arm, the party battled some more hobgoblins and retuned a stolen ring.  Then Vardamir had Gellana raise the two fallen adventurers.  The party sold off all the loot, rested, healed everyone, and then Vardamir decided -- after another strange dream -- to let the evil members of the party go their own way, much to everyone's irritation and relief.  It was starting to seem that the group of 5 was not getting along too well.  (Vardamir began to wonder if he was becomming a goody-goody type.)

With 30k gold in tow, Vardamir and Branwen headed to High Hedge to get back that recharged fire wand.  With little offensive firepower, Vardamir had to RUN inside to buy the wand, while Branwen distracted dogs and gnolls.  The wand was almost 28k gold!  With the wand, Vardamir was then able to take care of the combat situation rather easily. Back at Beregost, the duo sold off the remaining goods, returned a sword, and turned in 20 rather smelly bandit scalps to Officer Vai.  Then Vardamir put the fire wand to good use with the spiders in Landrin's house.  He decided to use the house as storage to save a lot of space in his pack.

On the 3rd floor of the Friendly Arm, Landrin was happy to hear the good news, but Branwen was sad that Vardamir wanted to travel alone again.  They agreed to possibly meet again later as Vardamir headed off into the East to find more unknown adventures.  What will happen to Vardamir?  Will he stay solo this time?  Stay tuned.

Very soon after arriving they came across a beautiful sirine that didn't seem too unfriendly, so Gavin volunteered to say hello. Alas after it kissed him, things got ugly... [Wasn't there supposed to be an ogre mage here? Not sure what happened except that while Held, she couldn't exactly ask us to stop fighting...]

I think you need to complete the dialogue options with the sirine to bring the ogre mage in (she will also resurrect the character she kissed - along with anyone else who happens to be dead at the time).
