Regardless you will get to level 7 before the final fight, so I would think that's all that really matters. Many times I have had my all paladin party not worry about level 8 (which is daunting, 150,000 exp for each paladin) and just take down Sarevok at level 7.

In the Cloakwood made a mistake in the first area when I initially talked to Aldeth Sashenstar with Hammer (who has low charisma). Subsequently, he refused to talk even to Flail with charisma of 17 (reputation of 20).
The second area was cleared without any deaths, though there was a nasty moment here when Flail was already poisoned and a spider webbed 2-H - meaning she was about to get attacked. If she had been poisoned that would have been a death sentence as Boss only has one cure poison Bhaal ability and I wouldn't want to use the green scroll on anyone other than Boss at this stage. However, she saved against poison several times and the party got away with it.
Did the majority of areas 3, 4 and 5 to get everyone up to level 7 before going back to do the druids in area 3 and wyvern cave in area 4. After a re-ammunitioning trip back to civilization they returned to take on the mine party. I intended to take no risks there this time (after ending the previous attempt there) by running away when threatened by spells. However, after doing that a couple of times while killing Drasus I failed to notice Rezdan casting chaos off-screen and Flail was confused. Kysus died quite quickly though of a hail of magical missiles, being finished off by a poisoned dart. Initially I then targeted Rezdan, but Genthore was causing too much damage (including targeting Boss with his throwing axes) and was next to go. By the time he was killed Flail had recovered from not just the chaos, but a subsequent confusion and led the finish on Rezdan.
After killing a number of spiders while resting, the Crew pressed on into the mines. Hareishan and her guards were handled by moving between levels and the Crew pressed on without trouble down to Daveorn. His battle horrors followed the Crew upstairs and were quickly despatched, while the mage dimension doored too close to the exit and was unable to complete any spells through the missile assault.
The Crew have now arrived in the city, stocked up on ammunition and green scrolls and dealt harshly with some irritable mages in Sorcerous Sundries.
Stats:
Flail, fighter L7, 83 HPs, 347 kills, 1 death (Kahrk)
Hammer, fighter L7, 79 HPs, 275 kills
2-H, fighter L7, 71 HPs, 336 kills, 1 death (wolf of Ulcaster)
Axe, fighter L7, 78 HPs, 247 kills
Boss, fighter L7, 74 HPs, 443 kills
Halberd, fighter L7, 92 HPs, 267 kills, 1 death (wolf of Ulcaster)

The ogre mage in the sewers was killed while doing Arkion's quest. He survived only seconds to enjoy the outcome though. The same fate befell Nemphre, allowing the Crew to pick up a nice XP bonus from Ordulinian.
Next up the Crew collected the Helm of Balduran and squashed the Mountain Maulers to get a weapon upgrade for Axe.
On to the poison quest where Jalantha failed to even start casting. Larze was crushed on the way to Marek. He wasted a spell on producing a spider and didn't get the chance to cast something more effective (like chaos). Boss gratefully accepted the Eagle Bow.
Ramazith was kind enough to open his tower up to invasion in order to provide a tome and ring +2, while Jardak handed over the Helm of Glory (though the fight with Drelik turned the area hostile).
Helped Varci and stole a telescope for Brevlik before invading Degrodel's house. Flail provided the decoy and survived the frontal assault, while the others whittled the enemies away at the back. After collecting Balduran's Cloak I didn't go back to Degrodel this time!
At the Waterfront the Crew were untouched while killing a greater basilisk, obtaining some ogre gauntlets and retrieving a spell book for Brielbara. Deciding to push their luck the Crew invaded the Iron Throne. This time an opening salvo of exploding arrows was immediately followed by a retreat and the enemies that followed were killed reasonably easily. The remaining ones upstairs were also mopped up without trouble.
There was a brief stop at the Seven Suns before the Crew reported in to Scar and Duke Eltan and were tasked with returning to Candlekeep. Before going there I wanted to get the final tome from the lighthouse area. The first group of sirenes charmed 3 of the Crew, but still went down pretty easily. However, one of the two nereids survived long enough to kiss a charmed Hammer while most of the others were running the water weirds round. Sil and her companions joined in the battle, but only after the nereids were dead and went down easily. After a temple trip the golems died within seconds, leaving the tome for Flail (as the normal tank he also took the dexterity tome and will get the strength one as well).
Stats:
Flail, fighter L7, 88 HPs (incl. 5 from Helm), 367 kills, 1 death (Kahrk)
Hammer, fighter L7, 79 HPs, 286 kills, 1 death (nereid)
2-H, fighter L7, 71 HPs, 355 kills, 1 death (wolf of Ulcaster)
Axe, fighter L7, 78 HPs, 259 kills
Boss, fighter L7, 74 HPs, 476 kills
Halberd, fighter L7, 92 HPs, 279 kills, 1 death (wolf of Ulcaster)

Some ogre magi were waiting when the Crew arrived at Candlekeep, but Flail persuaded the gatekeeper to let them in before any offensive spells fired.
Since the Crew were going to be blamed anyway I thought they might as well kill the Iron Throne party. That proved a bit more difficult than expected when 2-H got stunned by a dart while everyone else was chasing the mage. However, they returned in time to save him - Hammer returning the favour by stunning Tuth.
In the catacombs I hadn't remembered there being so many magic missile traps and nearly paid a severe penalty as a result. Halberd used green scrolls of fire and lightning protection along with the violet potion to open the first tomb, but got taken down to 1 HP in the process. By getting his lightning protection up to the maximum with a second green scroll she was able to heal herself on the repeating lightning trap before going back to open the second tomb. After that I also mis-clicked on moving to escape a phase spider resulting in Halberd being poisoned - going down to 9 HPs before Boss could get there to cure her. After looting the third tomb the Crew ploughed through some dopplegangers to the exit to the spider caves - no problems there except Flail being charmed by the greater doppleganger - Hammer having the pleasure of running her round until she came to her senses.
For Prat and his party I'd forgotten that SCS reinforced him with a couple of air elementals, as well as everyone starting off invisible. Prat was mean to ignore everyone around him and tag Boss with a confusion initially, taking him out of much of the contest. Halberd was also charmed early on and accounted for much of the Crew's damage in the confined spaces. However, Hammer managed to stun Sakul, Tam and Bor (twice), which did just enough for the others to survive Prat's spells, though a recovered Boss interrupted this spell that I think was about to kill Flail. I realised after the battle that I'd made it much harder than it needed to be as I had arrows of dispelling available.
After resting up for a number of days in the doppleganger quarters to heal the Crew cleared out the spiders and basilisks (both stunned without any stoning casualties) and left. The ogre magi were still waiting, but without surprise they caused no problems (this time I remembered to use arrows of dispelling). The Crew safely made it back to the City to prepare for their final challenges.

Coreranger has 2 other friends assisting him (made in multi-player), here are the teams' character sheets:

Notes about this run:
I really want to see how this team can do at the higher levels. So for now, will restart if I die early in BG 1, otherwise if dieing in BG 2, may instead continue in the campfire/minimal reload thread.
The team got out of Candlekeep easily enough. The first challenge was fighting to the free ring in a rock, had to defeat lots of xvarts and two worgs - Coreranger got to 50% life, but the team succeeded.
The team then worked their way to Beregost. In Beregost, we calmed Marl, then rested (nighttime) and Forrest stole a magical bastard sword for Coreranger - thanks Forrest! We got a magical sling for Coreranger and proceeded south.
Two ogrillions encountered, a sleep spell by Forrest was enough to get a clean enough victory - turning in the letter to a lady in Beregost netted Forrest a magical ring so was worth it.
Next up was a flaming fist who wanted a fight - we gave it to him, but we had trouble hitting him, so Forrest spammed his magic missile wand he lifted from Imoen to take out the flaming fist. This netted a small upgrade for Coreranger, plate mail.
We continued our way south and using ranged power, rather simply defeated a numerous bandits we encountered, plus a horde of gibberlings. We arrive safely to Nashkel.
In Nashkel, Ankheg armor found for Misty (she has same AC as Coreranger now), and we listened to Noober's tirade for easy experience. We gain some reputation by denying to be Greywolf, and then battled Neira.
Coreranger had the foresight to have Misty talk to the assassin Neira, you know girl-to-girl talk. Well it didn't end well at first. Misty was confused then held. Forrest wasn't going to let his girl die though, and spammed his magic missile wand. Coreranger assisted with his sling and got good hits. Together, the men saved their female group-mate and all was well.
A small upgrade for Misty, helmet of infravision, rested, and ended the session here. No levels for anyone yet, though Misty is close.
I don't see any options for thumbnails with the new photobucket interface - anyone know if that's still possible if so, how? Thanks in advance for replies.

Good luck for the final fight Grond0 - I want to see the wrecking crew tear up Amn!
Slythe was pulled back and quickly killed with missile weapons, including dispelling arrows. Krystin arrived before the Crew could loot Slythe's body and used a nice tactic of a web followed by teleport field. However, 3 of the Crew had free action available and it didn't take long to burn through her defences - particularly after she was hit by a dart of stunning!
At the palace I felt the Crew's chances in a fair fight were almost nil due to the greater dopplegangers use of charm, fear and, especially, confusion. Hence the plan was to drag them up to the next floor for safer disposal there. They were a bit reluctant to follow and Flail had to go down and up quite a few times before 5 of them had eventually followed to their doom. The Crew did risk coming down for the final one before Duke Belt sent them after Sarevok.
After killing the inhabitants of the maze Flail used a scroll of magic protection to trigger the various traps. A couple of green scrolls of fire protection were added before the Crew switched to bows and used arrows of explosion on the Undercity party. That was successful, but Flail took more damage than I expected (I subsequently realised, in the battle with Sarevok, that Flail was taking damage from the arrows of explosion despite 127% fire protection) and I decided it would be necessary to rest before the final assault on the temple.
After resting the Crew also explored the maze a bit, the encounters there getting the last XP needed to get everyone up to level 8. Then they hit the temple. Preparation included using all 4 remaining protection from magic scrolls, all 5 protection from undead scrolls and both fire and poison protection on Flail (as the expected target) and Boss. A dispelling arrow caught Sarevok, while exploding arrows were poured in on the target. Tazok also got dispelled and Semaj was killed in the initial assault until most of the Crew withdrew while Angelo and Diarmid teleported in. While Angelo was busy buffing a renewed barrage then killed Diarmid, although the exploding arrows had by that time caused severe damage to Flail as well. Hence at that point the Crew ended the fiery bombardment and switched to alternative missiles. When Angelo came out of invisibility he was targeted with dispelling arrows and didn't last long. Then, while Flail kept Sarevok running round, the others finished off the skeleton warriors.
With Sarevok on his own I tried sending everyone in in melee, but he managed to get a few good whacks in (nearly killing Flail), so I withdrew the damaged members a bit to keep everyone alive until Sarevok gave in.
After resting up the Crew reported to Duke Belt for further duty and shortly found themselves in Athkatla.
Stats:
Flail, fighter L8, 102 (incl. 5 from Helm) HPs, 411 kills, 1 death (Kahrk)
Hammer, fighter L8, 85 HPs, 303 kills, 1 death (nereid)
2-H, fighter L8, 80 HPs, 370 kills, 1 death (wolf of Ulcaster)
Axe, fighter L8, 93 HPs, 286 kills
Boss, fighter L8, 81 HPs, 515 kills
Halberd, fighter L7, 103 HPs, 296 kills, 1 death (wolf of Ulcaster)
The Eagle Bow helped Boss pull further ahead in the kills list towards the end. He is the only member of the Crew whose main proficiency is in a missile weapon, so it will be interesting to see if he can keep that lead in BG2.

Maus had a quiet trip through BG1 with no particular alarms or risks taken. He was damaged a few times, but never seriously and didn't bother using any healing.
The only slight error I noted was clicking on the wrong conversation option with Thaldorn - meaning Maus had to go and find some documentary evidence of the Iron Throne's wrongdoings.
I decided that Maus should just rely on backstabs for the final fight with Sarevok. That meant a certain amount of care was needed as Sarevok could easily have one-shotted him with a critical. However, everything went fine and Sarevok never got an attack in.
Here's his final record (there were 93 kills and XP was nicely judged at just a few hundred over the BG1 cap of 161k). He made much more use of traps than I normally bother with and will probably continue doing that in BG2.

Decided it was time to participate. Playing BG1Tutu with Mini Quests and Encounters, BG1 NPCs and BG2 Tweaks installed. Few game changing cheats enabled beside rest anywhere. Difficulty setting is Core Rules. Max HP on lvlup. Cheating in a bag of holding and some containers because I hate the inventory management game. Used ShadowKeeper to change my PC's appearance, although none of his stats have been changed.
Meet Isaac, the Terrible. He thinks they call him that because of his fearsome appearance, when in reality, they just call him that because he is, well, terrible at almost everything he does.
"Sometimes the ways of fate are impossible to grasp for us mere mortals. Individuals who turn everything they touch into disaster are spared again and again from the end they well deserve. Some are just born to dissappoint, yet somehow escape their judgment time after time. Such cursed souls wander Faerûn in bewilderment; it seems as if destiny has dealt them one bad card after another, and there is no end to their misfortune.
One such individual is the young Isaac. Unbeknownst to him, powers much darker than ever he could expect watch over his fate and prevent his much deserved untimely death. Rescued as a young babe from a temple devoted to a dark god by the heroic Gorion, Isaac grew up in the sheltered care of Candlekeep. Gorion soon realized his error, as the young boy turned out to be an impossible student, a dreadfully lazy child lacking every form of ambition. Countless hours of Gorion's precious time were wasted on efforts to teach the youth the simple basics of magic, yet again and again the boy would drive his teacher to the edge of sanity with his countless, utterly irrelevant questions and interruptions.
Finally, Gorion gave up teaching the young Isaac altogether. Deeply disappointed at his master's decision and believing it to be another in a long line of undeserved misfortunes - the death of his unknown mother being the first - the young Isaac spent many hours in the company of his sister Imoen, who, for reasons known only to the gods, appeared to be the only one in Candlekeep that liked him.
Together they set upon a foolish and risky plan to steal a tome of great magical power from the library's secret shelf. Isaac has heard the mages speak of the tome in hushed tones, and believed it to hold great power - perhaps enough power to make him a mage. Their plan was succesful, but little did the young know, the tome was actually a book of great necromancy. In a rush to discover its great secrets, Isaac opened the book at random and read the first spell he found there aloud.
A chilling mist erupted from the dreadful tome, enveloping the young apprentice and draining all warmth from his
frail, pimpled teenage body. When he awoke, he was much changed: he was hovering above his body, freed from his physical form. His soul was now encapsuled in a floating skull, his appearance much like that of a demilich, except for the clearly missing aura of malevolence. Cursing the tome – not his own stupidity – Isaac was nevertheless thrilled to discover that the tome had transferred upon him some degree of magical power. He was suddenly able to cast a few basic spells – the same spells the patient Gorion had attempted to teach him for months – and even better, to scare the heck out of every monk in the library.
We meet our young protagonist on a day not long after this dreadful incident. The monks, who already hated his presence before the accident, have grown increasingly insistent on his departure ever since. They speak of his transformation as the first step in a dreaded prophesy – although much disagreement exists among them whether Isaac, the eternal wimp, could ever be part of such a prophecy. Today, Gorion has asked him to gather his few belongings in order to depart upon a journey. For the moment, our young protagonist is still blissfully ignorant of the purpose or destination of this journey, or the chain of misfortune that lies in his immediate future.”

Sir, I must protest. Your correspondent (Volo) has no right to journal my life and I am fed up of having to clarify or correct the numerous discrepancies this worthless idiot publishes in your paper.
For instance, how was I to know life was easy in Candlekeep until the dolts Carbos and Shank chunked too easily. Thank the stars I realised in time and I am now faced with core difficulty.
Then there is the pictures, drawn without my permission. Every wacko for miles around seems to want my autograph or worse. They don't even do me justice - I'm taller than that.

After leaving Nashkel I discovered Volo was holed up in a tavern, no doubt concocting more untruths. I would return to give him some direct feedback but a bandit ambush has left me badly wounded. I had to drink a healing potion just to survive as six arrows found their mark (level 2, 24hp). Poor Samuel also collected a couple of arrows so we're holed up at the Friendly Arm Inn but don't you go writing that.
