Thanks. I have been killed by them before, so should really have been sensible and just avoided them. Maybe this guy can resist the temptation to take on such risky challenges. The Fred wrote...
Unlucky, Grond. I have to admit, I think the odds were stacked against you from the start, but it's a shame about dying at the hands of the DH assassins - one of my own earlier characters almost feel at the same place.

I looked it up online later, and I guess I was right that the Hold ruined it... or rather simply that I kept attacking ruthelessly after the Hold... because the dialogue otherwise continues after damaging Nereid the Sirine. Once again the double-edged blade of overpowered equipment... I sure hope to beat everything in this go because then I can let go of DH, et al.Grond0 wrote...
I think you need to complete the dialogue options with the sirine to bring the ogre mage in (she will also resurrect the character she kissed - along with anyone else who happens to be dead at the time).Bhryaen wrote...
Very soon after arriving they came across a beautiful sirine that didn't seem too unfriendly, so Gavin volunteered to say hello. Alas after it kissed him, things got ugly... [Wasn't there supposed to be an ogre mage here? Not sure what happened except that while Held, she couldn't exactly ask us to stop fighting...]

Happy Birthday
Having already done some thieving with Narlen Darkwalk, Wierdo's band (i.e. Wierdo herself) finally got around to robbing the Oberon Estate for the skyship components, on behalf of the wizard Resar in the Thieves Guild.
Wierdo had no problems with infiltrating the building and stealing the items from the third floor. She even got bold and pickpocketed people (rather than killing them), but Wierdo did get noticed and that is where things just started to get interesting.
Wierdo was pickpocketing "Glanmarie", who appears to be some servant or older relative or something. She lives on the first (ground) floor, and Wierdo pickpocketed her on the way out of the estate. Wierdo picked and FAILED, but managed to SUCCEED on a subsequent try before Glanmarie turned red, then Wierdo ran away. This is what Wierdo found in her hands when she got back into the street with her party:
Tome of Clear Thought
Crikey! No-one expect that!
As Wierdo already has INT21, she gave it to Annakin the Brave, lifting him to INT19. which is perfect for dualling him to a mage in BG2! In any case, it's Annakin's birthday.
Anyway, everyone returned to the Thieves Guild to find that Resar had betrayed them. Oh what a surprise!

"My clavin!"
Narlen seemed terribly lost for words after that.

Werewolves
Buddha has now reached Monk Level 9, which means he has +1 fists (yay)! Time to find some werewolves or something.
So, the party finally tore free from the city's distractions and went to do Mendas' quest: to find Balduran's Isle and shipwreck.
Once there, Buddha found lots of werewolves to practice on, but he had to back off from the greater werewolf in Balduran's ship.
Annakin used his two Flame Tongues (one from SOBH, one from Durlag), which count as +4 weapons. That was pretty much all Wierdo had against him - Yeslick's Frostreaver +3 wouldn't hurt it. But two Flame Tongues was enough, especially with Annakin using them. The silver dagger found in the ship may have worked on the greater wearwolf, but there was no opportunity to find out. Yeslick did forget about the Hammer +1, +4 vs Giants, which should also work as a +4 weapon. Nevermind.

"Gnarl, growl, yowl, chop, slice, owww .... "
Mostly things went smoothly. Xan leveled up as Sorcerer level 10. He can now cast Breach!
After completing all the quests on the island, and killing lots and lots of werewolves and other things, the party found Kaishas Gan at the ship her clan had built.
Wierdo managed to convince Kaishas Gan that she honestly was a really nice person and was not
going to tell everyone about where this den of werewolves lives. This was helped by Durlyle and Maralee, who told kKaishas what a lovely person Wierdo was. It was touching. She let us go, even though Wierdo knew that she was neutral evil (Yeslick had cast the spell Detect Evil earlier).

"Seriously, we really are nice guys."
Anyway, Wierdo's band escaped the isle with the GOOD-er option, not killing Kaishas. Then they came upon Mendas and his henchman Baresh in Ulgoth's Beard. They weren't nice at all, so Wierdo showed them what heroes do to bad people!

"Evil werewolf scumbags!"
Wierdo has now started the Grey Clan (Pt1), and is off the the Friendly Arm Inn. Will be back soon to plot her adventures ...

Yes, I was totally stunned. I have never heard of getting that Tome from Glanmarie before. Walkthroughs and Google searching revealed nothing. She was not easy to pickpocket either, even with 100%+ native skill. Worth checking out on other games (i.e. not a no-reload game) to make sure that this was not some kind of freak event.

I always conceptualised it as a Viconia-style Moment of Redemption. Assume her alignment shifts to Neutral during the conversation if you like (there's no way to check in-game).

I have to say, that is worth taking note of! It is so lucrative, I had to check it out. I tried BGtutu (only BG1NPC mod), and I always got a pearl from Glanmarie. It was the same on reloads, and in other run throughs. I tried 3 saves in the city of Baldur's Gate from different games. What mods are you using? Could it be from item randomization? Glanmarie does seem to be a "higher" treasure pickpocket target. A pearl is not unique, but pretty good for non-vital characters. In BG2 for example, some of the Athkatla Guards have high level mage scrolls. I never even considered trying until I read somewhere that level 6+ spells can be obtained that way. I have noticed in BGtutu that random spawns sometimes have sweet loot like gnolls with exploding arrows or an ogre mage with a lightning wand, but never a unique item like a tome!
By the way, I am really enjoying the game stories. (Gate70, sorry to hear that your run with Hargis ended early in BG2.) After hearing about the mods all of you are using, I want to try some of them out after my run is over. (I wish I had more time! grumble ... real life ... grumble) Sword Coast Stratagems definately sounds like an interesting twist without too much change. On the other hand, I wonder if I am missing out on a whole game (almost like a BG 1.5?) with all the mods out there. How many mods add new areas and involved quests to BG1?

I would also like to do a play through with no reloads from BG1 - TOB, and I'm gonna play an evil party because I've never done that before (I always play the good guy).
So I'm just wondering, as a bit of a novice:
What spells should I keep memorized, and which ones should I keep as scrolls?
What ammunitions and potions to save and when to use them?
Thanks.

I am not the biggest fan of bg1tutu, but it must be installed for SCS to work, so I'm trying to keep it as close to bg1 as possible:
Core rules, period. No namby pamby max hp and spell learning here!
No BG2 spells for heroes or villains, including find familiar, which is absurdly overpowered in bg1.
BG1 weapon proficiencies and thief skills(I will have to use shadowkeeper) and no kits.
Max tactical/ai/challenge enhancements for everything except spiders.
3/4 of potions break when dropped.
Candlekeep be-gone.
So far so good, Hero is l2 cleric/l2 illusionist, kivan is l3 ranger and shar-teel is l2 fighter. I will dual Shar-teel to thief at l3 so she can get *** in bow.
I went straight to high hedge without talking to imoen or monty/xzar. I think that this way they will be higher level npcs if I need them later, but that might be false in tutu. Cast friends to raise my charisma from 3->9 to recruit Kivan. Next we went to Shipwreck's Coast (Area west of high hedge) and wiped out the local ogre population. Kivan's racial enemy is quite handy here along with kiting. Didn't kill Shoal because I wanted to get Shar-Teel @ level 2 instead of 4 because of dual classing trickery. Not sure if it even makes sense to kill her instead of getting the helmet now.
Next I headed over to pick up Shar-Teel and grab a few goodies (ring of wizardry, ring of protection +1, diamond, girdle of piercing, flaming fist plate mail, bought a sling+1). I am avoiding melee almost completely and using blindness, sleep and command to stack the odds in my favor. Melee is suicide in bgtutu scs because you're constantly facing huge groups of monsters who can't be separated.
Not sure who I'll have in my final party aside from the 3 I've got and probably Edwina. I wanted to use Imoen but I was too annoyed at being unable to dual class her to conjurer. The npckit patch doesn't work and a dualled specialist mage in shadowkeeper gets no extra spells--I think you have to add them manually. I want to get the Bracers AC 7 from the umberlee priestess soon(this is another case like helm of defense where foregoing the bracers gives a much bigger xp reward), but first I think I need to level everyone up to level 3.

Personally, I am a very stingy person and save EVERYTHING anyway, though in a no-reload this isn't so feasible. Just make sure that your main char in particular has an antidote or an elixir of health equipped to deal with poison, I'd say, and have everyone keep a couple of healing potions.Gavn wrote...

As for spells, Entangle and Sleep are favourites. Sleep and Command are of particular note because they're so fast to cast, they can be used rather as panic buttons.

Oh and welcome, Jeff! A point about Imoen - I think you need to have certain stats to be a certain type of specialist. So, Imoen can't be everything. In my game I made her an Illusionist - it works well, given I'm a Conjurer, and it's thematically sound, too.
It doesn't even show an option to dual into an illusionist. Anyway, her con is high enough to dual to conjurer. The problem is that it doesn't work correctly in tutu. If I could dual her to illusionist, I would.
Anyway, dualled Shar-Teel to a thief and she's already l3 fighter/l4 thief with ** in bows (*** in large swords). With her high dex and str(only matters in tutu for comp longbow), she's a natural archer, but she can only get *** bows if you dual her to thief instead of staying as a straight fighter! She can also get grandmastery in large swords or small swords instead this way, but backstabbing isn't my style, especially in a no reload game and dualling her to thief means her hp are too low to melee comfortably.
Picked up a couple goodies while doing this--girdle of bluntness and halberd +1 for kivan. Next on my shopping list are varscona and archery bracers and probably the composite long bow+1 for kivan, though I have to actually buy that one. I think i'll definitely pick up Ajantis next because I need a high charisma char to lead the party. I killed Shoal for XP instead of trying for helmet of defense because I was unable to kill many basilisks in mutamin's garden. I had the perfect position to fire on a greater basilisk while korax distracted him and mutamin, but a horde of gibberlings came out of nowhere and forced kivan to retreat. I wish I was joking.

This is why I love cleric/illusionist: They start with 5 great disabling spells on l1. If you get ring of wizardry, you suddenly have 9.
I find blindness to be indispensible because I like to fight high HD monsters right away to build experience. Sleep doesn't work on those. It is actually safer to fight an ogre berserker than a bandit.
L1 has many good defensive spells as well: Armor, Shield and Protection from Evil. If your strength is high enough, you can get armor scroll in 1st floor winthrop's inn by forcing a container. Armor is clutch in the early game because it lasts long enough to use it before resting or travelling between wilderness areas and +4 bonus to AC is a big difference. Of course, you really shouldn't ever get hit at all in the early game unless you get unlucky with wilderness ambushes or ranged spawns.

Same here... I've been using pickpocket for the first time really- rather rampantly- to discover lots of goodies, figuring I'd come across something like that at some point from some "commoner" or someone you'd otherwise not expect it from. Nice tip, Wierdo! The Fred wrote...

I also didn't know there was a dialogue option out of the battle with Kaishas Gan. Quite the loophole I've never noticed... The last game seriously walloped my party with those endless wolfens at the docks and the +overpowered-protected regenerating Loupy. In the earlier boss fight I usually just go for the chest with the sword (when at last I think of it) since I've never found any +4 flame sword in Durlag's somehow (or simply don't remember).
I also have to agree with The Fred on The Grond0. You keep making things so hard for yourself but why don't you try Hard Times? You'll accept every other wild challenge!

As I understand it BG2 doesn't allow dualling to a specialist mage, so Easytutu and BGT cannot offer this option.

I could be wrong, but I think it's allowed in BG Trilogy. There is a mod called "NPC Kit Mod" that is supposed to work with tutu and allow imoen to dual into a specialist a la vanilla bg1. I can't figure out how to make it work.
I could just shadowkeeper extra spell slots, but I was a bit fed up with it all. I already have to shadowkeeper all fighter npcs to fix their weapon proficiencies because the bg1 weapon style option gives npcs unused proficiencies instead of their bg1 originals--for example Kagain's information screen says he has + in axes and +++ in "unused".

I forgot about Teyngan/Jemby/Zekar on Fisherman's Lake map. I tried to run away, but hero failed his save against a sleep spell and was pretty much instakilled by a poisoned arrow while helpless.
