Corey_Russell/Dogdancing Multi-player No-Reload - FINAL BG 1 Update
Bannen: level 7 fighter/level 8 thief, 76 HP
Wewa: level 8 berserker, 74 HP

The duo got a ton done this session. We noticed that via potion, Bannen had 100% pick-pocket, so we went ahead and stopped by the Blushing Mermaid, then Undercellar to get the Cloak of Balduran from Quenash - that worked. We then dealt with the Seven Suns (super easy), and reported to Scar about the Suns and the Ogre Mage in the sewers we had taken out.

Time to prepare for the Iron Throne, 5th floor. The plan was Wewa would be protected by pro magic scroll and a few buffs and she would show herself on the left set of stairs - after a few seconds, Bannen would show himself and use arrows of detonation - this worked wonderfully, and in fact Bannen quickly changed to normal arrows so as to not hurt Wewa too much (she didn't have 100% fire resistance).

After reporting to Duke Eltan, the duo were quickly sent to the Candlekeep Crypts. With 100% traps/locks, Bannen of course had no trouble in the first portion of the crypts - he even had save vs death at 0, so not even phase spiders were a problem. The WIS tome went to Bannen, the STR to Wewa. We then had to battle the Greater Dopplegangers. Bannen was supposed to only do a few rounds of arrows of detonation with Wewa as bait, but he didn't pause and for some reason his arrow switch didn't take and Wewa nearly died - it took all the duo's heal potions to get her to full health - oops.

The only reason the duo is battling Prat is to get the +2 throwing axe for Wewa. The plan was to buff Bannen, and Bannen  would carefully use arrows of detonation (he didn't have 100% fire resistance himself), with Wewa throwing fireballs from her necklace of missiles from the other passage - this worked great. Looting was tough but we eventually managed. Dual-wielding and mirror eyes solved the Basilisks.

After selling, time for Chapter 7! Corey_Russsell had a really interesting plan for this portion. He buffed Bannen and Wewa with invulernability potions and STR 23 potions each, plus greenstone amulet for Bannen and enrage for Wewa - the duo then charged (dual-wielding) and destroyed the Ogre Berserkers and Cythrandria.

While the buffs were still running, we ran via sewers to Undercellar and used exact buffs vs. Slythe and Krystin! Oh, forgot to mention, Slythe and Krystin were both hurt by snares laid a long time ago by Bannen - success!

The same buffs were still burning, time for Duchal Palace. Slight change here - Wewa took off her free action ring, used a haste potion and heroism potion - Bannen equipped his +1 composite bow and used acid arrows and the duo did their fight with Wewa in melee and Bannen ranged - duo to their low rep, Bannen also had two horrors so he used them here to great effect - complete success!

The duo was then transported to thieve's guild, and after selling/buying from Lily, Bannen left - however, Wewa didn't leave the same way and triggered a horrible bug - when she exited she found herself on wall to the left in the East Area - but there was no way to get to where Bannen was! And there was no way to zone out either, as it said we had to gather our party to go forth - we were forced to re-load due to this bug.
Posted Image

Last save? Auto-save for Duchal Palace! Doh! However, we used the same strategy as the first time and it worked again. We made to save once arriving at the thieve's guild...after selling, getting items from our bank and buying a few potions in Baldur's Gate, we set forth for the thieve's maze.

We actually went invisible via potion and skipped the entire thieve's maze and Undercity - time for Sarevok!

This battle was by far the hardest portion of the entire run. Keys were both players used a pro magic scroll and also had backup haste potions and fire resistance potions. Wewa pulled Sarevok from the left.

Bannen tried hard to dispel Sarevok's haste, and once done he got into melee with Angelo. Wewa was triggering battle horrors everywhere due to her inexperience - Corey_Russell realized this could happen though, so did the best he could with what he got. Angelo finally fell.

The duo was running everywhere, with Bannen firing arrows at Sarevok when he got an opening, Wewa throwing her +2 axe when she got a chance, and also Wewa doing necklace of missiles a few times. At one point, Tazok come out of invisibility and hit Bannen hard (less than 20% health) - Bannen had a ranged weapon equipped! Bannen had to go invisible via potion (his aura was clear) and run away. Wewa then had all the many enemies attention (about 3 battle horrors), and too was forced to go invisible. The duo healed up, then Bannen did a free backstab on Semaj and finished him.

Bannen then ran, and Wewa fired a necklace of missiles, killing a battle horror. Now that the # of enemies had been depleted somewhat, it was now a bit easier to take potshots at Sarevok while running. We keep this up a few rounds and finally Sarevok falls!
Posted Image

The duo will move on to BG 2 - the tomes got distributed quite a bit.

EDIT: Just wanted to make a special note - this is the first run where Dogdancing's character never died. We think being a hardy dwarf and also that she isn't a thief (so that she doesn't set off traps) has something to do with that. Since she wasn't looting all the time, she was more focused (Dogdancing loves to loot), we think this kept her out of trouble as well.

Well then, a little update is in order!

The party has been doing.. well enough, I guess. It is quite apparent that it has been a while since my last playthrough - quite evident in some of the more difficult battles!

As you all probably know, I am playing with SCS installed - which can be quite the pain at times.

Anywho, here's what we've been up to lately:

Neira managed to explode in a ray of ice after being resurrected by someone we *thought* was a liscenced cleric.

After pillaging the countryside for both gold and glory, the party encountered Narcillicus and almost everyone perished. Luckily, Branwen managed to land a Hold spell, ending the mighty wizards life.

Next up was Bassilus, who perished to the combined might of our party. Alas, the red wizard Edwin fell to a freak flamestrike incident.

With most of the banditry and evildoers slain on the countryside, the party decided to murder Mulahey in his own abode. A swift and precise kill without any trouble, though Edwin died to a freak fire arrow outside of Mulaheys home.

Next up, the party put the pooch to the punch (ha-harr), by slaying the Wolf of Ulcaster, glorious tales will surely be sung of our brave adventurers, I am certain.

With the Wolf dead, the party decided it was time to murder Kark, and through vile and quite devious tactics - they beheaded the monster without too much trouble (well, Branwen died).

The Bandit Camp went surprisingly well, thanks to a few lucky saves and unlucky saves for our opponents. The wand of monster summoning was used (though a max of 5 monsters summoned is in my version of the game) to great effect - and even with the leaders storming out of their tent - the party murdered everyone. *Everyone*.

Lastly, the party strode through the Cloakwood, murdering Aldeth and some Wyverns along the way. At the Mine, the party charged in with a clever tactic in mind, but was oblitorated by Drasus' party. Branwen, Imoen and Dorn fell quite early - and the rest fled north, dragging Drasus with them. In a clearing, they went down upon the villain with great vengeance and furious anger - claiming his boots for Minsc in the process. The Mages where spread out as well, which left them as easy pickings for a berserked Minsc. Finally Edwin, Minsc and Pyrius emerged victorious.

Next up: Davaeorn and the Cloakwood Mine!

Heldig - human wild mage (update 7)

Continuing on his clean-up mission Heldig returned to the lighthouse area.  Four lots of summons were used in working through Sil and the sirenes.  Two more killed a couple of golems and badly wounded the third - it was finished off with a few darts of wounding.  Heldig then moved on to Firewine Bridge where 4 more groups of summons were enough to overpower Kahrk.
Posted Image

Deciding it was time to continue the main quest Heldig made his way invisibly through the Cloakwood to the mine.  There he risked using a scroll for the first time - to put a cloudkill up.  Drasus and the others initially chased him out of that, but went back in after Heldig went invisiblePosted Image.  That killed the mages, while Drasus and Genthore were badly wounded - a few ogres soon finished them off.

After going invisibly down to Daveorn some wolves provided cover while a couple of blasts from thewand of frost dealt with the battle horrors - Heldig picking up his 9th level there.  Some gnolls were sent after Daveorn from out of range, although a bouncing lightning bolt still managed to catch him, causing him to rapidly quaff an absorption potion in case it bounced back on him again.  With Daveorn now out of spells, Heldig waited until his monster summoning expired and then sent in a second lot of gnolls to administer the coup de grace.

Heldig - human wild mage (update 8)

Before going to the City Heldig did a bit more cleaning up.  First he travelled invisibly to the archaeological site to see if Charleston Nib would be willing to overlook his poor charisma given his 20 reputation.  He did and Heldig stole the idol to encourage the doomsayer to show himself.  A group of gnolls supported by various wands (burning the last of the frost wand charges) was sufficient to finish him off

There was a similar approach with the revenant at the Valley of the Tombs, although he proved much less resistant to being scorched.

A wolf pack then prowled round the area and hunted down Narcillicus.

Heldig - human wild mage (update 9)

There was one final side-quest excursion - to Ulcaster.  There Heldig took on Icharyd, with the help of some ogres.  I was actually surprised when he died so quickly, belatedly realising that I had been expecting the SCS improved version.
Posted Image

Finally in the City, Heldig picked up the dexterity tome before buying a few spells and recharging his wand of fire.  He quickly ran through the poison quest - one lot of summoned gnolls dealing comfortably with Jalantha and another with Marek.

After picking up the wisdom tome and watching Varci's friend get resurrected, Heldig investigated the Iron Throne invisibly and reported to Duke Eltan for duty in Candlekeep.

Heldig - human wild mage (10th and final update)

At Candlekeep Heldig rested to get DUHM before darting a doppleganger.  He then used a protection from magic scroll with the violet potion to get strength to 25.  That also reduced his HPs to 9, which would mean the spike traps would probably kill him, so he also had to take a potion of fortitude.

Three of the phase spiders perished in the fire traps and the last one was finished with a few wand MMs (with dexterity 3 his darts weren't very accurate).

After resting for a day, Heldig bypassed the dopplegangers invisibly on the way to Prat.  Summons carried the bulk of that battle, though Heldig did manage to stun Bor and Tam with darts.  I didn't realise for quite a while that Prat had actually been killed - I think he must have been a friendly-fire casualty of one of Sakul's spells while Heldig was keeping out of the way at the start of the battle.

Rather than just leave invisibly, Heldig approached the basilisks looking for a good spot to leave some summons - and died.  That was surprising as he had clearly been attacked from well outside his vision.  I loaded the autosave and went in invisible to confirm that - here he's moved in closer to spot the basilisk and then moved back again so that the basilisk is out of his sight.  However, the basilisk can still see him and hence is not disappearing from the screen as would be normal for an enemy in the fog of war.
Posted Image
That lack of visual symmetry is fairly rare, but does pop up every now and then - pity that was a basilisk and not a Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of TraalPosted Image.

Unfortunately, I never got the chance to put the letters collected in earlier updates together properly - I was looking for the opportunity to use a picture something like this.

Sorry to hear that Grond0 - Basilisks have killed quite a few of your characters, haven't they? Maybe in retribution you should make a ranger and make the ranger's racial enemy...a basilisk. : ) Of course a mage's poor saves vs. death certainly don't help either...(Bannen's save vs. death was zero near the end). Regardless, hope you can bounce back with a character you like.

Killian - gnome berserker (first and final update)

Thanks all for your good wishes.

After Heldig's death I'd had enough of sneaking around invisible for a while, so rolled up something more suited to mindless mayhem.
Posted Image
He started with 2 stars each in axes and 2-weapon fighting.

Killian has made his way rapidly through the Sword Coast and taken out Sarevok.  I didn't take notes of his journeys, but all the combats were pretty standard.  Screenshots I thought might be of interest are as follows:
- his worst injuries in the game came fairly early on against Meilum, when he tried to fight in melee, but was forced to retreat and use throwing axes.
- after hacking down the basilisks Killian got some great help from Korax to deal with Kirian's party.  Here, Killian has just splattered Baerin, while the other 3 are all paralysed.
- I do wonder whether there's something wrong with Nimbul's mirror images.  Here's another instance where a one-shot attack goes straight through.
- after raging his way through a couple of groups of sirenes, Killian's damage output proved too high for some golems to live with.
- at the Cloakwood mine Killian initially pulled Drasus away to be beaten up.  Then he tried a Bhaal horror that took effect on Rezdan - making Genthore and Kysus easy targets.
- the most difficult fight of the run was with the battle horrors near Daveorn.  I was trying to finish them off without any potion support and had to retreat to heal several times - normally all the way to the top of the mine (fortunately, running there doesn't take long at 60 fps for a barbarian wearing boots of speed).
- Daveorn himself suffered from being the only other victim of a Bhaal horror attempt in the run.
- potions were used before the combat with Slythe, which gave him no chance.
- Killian moved straight on to the palace with potion buffs still running.  A number of the dopplegangers attacked him, so he took quite a bit of damage, but not as much as they did!
- for the final fight with Sarevok Killian used a dispelling arrow to pull him out.  I tried fighting in melee, but Killian performed rather poorly there, missing regularly.  As a result he had to retreat to heal a couple of times before finishing him off.  I deliberately used DUHM and rage with Sarevok at near death, just to push his stats up for his final character record.

I'm not sure? Let's see if I can work this out (and yes she does have a familar)
1/3 D10 = 3 + (1/3 D8) = 3 + (1/3 D4) = 1 + 6 for familar = 13. Perhaps Hannah's CON bonus makes up the difference? My EasyTutu is based on BG 2 plus ToB official patch, no fixpack I wonder if that comes into play here.

EDIT:

Found this quote on the net:
I'm fairly certain that my formula is correct, on level up you get Round(HitDice / NumberOfClasses). The constitution bonus is calculated separately and you get the best constitution bonus out of the classes you have. So with FMT you get Fighter con bonus etc. Thus, my table above should give you average HP including multiclasses. Dual classes and NPCs don't strictly get average with this though, but the difference shouldn't be that big

Thus, the 13 HP I mentioned above plus best CON bonus (4 for fighter)=17. That seems to explain it.

Gate70/Grond0 multiplayer attempt 29 - (update 1)
Blagg, dwarf priest of Helm (Grond0) & Aubrey, human stalker (Gate70)

As it only took a few minutes to die in our previous run, there was time to roll up new characters and make a start with them.  Once again the character classes were randomly chosen from those we haven't tried before.

So far, so good as the duo made their way from Candlekeep via Shoal to Beregost.  Aubrey had a brief flirtation with disaster when trying to backstab Landrin's spiders and getting poisoned without any antidotes.  However, he shrugged off the effects manfully.

Bassilus managed to confuse Blagg, but was silenced himself at the same time, allowing Aubrey to play hide & seek (& backstab) around the standing stones.  The FAI and Greywolf caused no problems and the duo have just made their way through the Cloudpeaks to recover the charisma tome from the Gnoll Stronghold.
Posted Image
Posted Image

Stats (incl. BG1):
Blagg, priest of Helm 4, 30 HPs, 30 kills
Aubrey, stalker 4, 49 HPs, 59 kills, 0 deaths
Aubrey has made use of his high HPs to indulge in plenty of backstabs.  However, he's equally lethal when he gets his bow out and it looks like he's going to be a far more clear-cut winner in the kills race than most of our contests.

Stur - human wild mage (update 1)

I was at a bit of a loose end this afternoon so started up another wild mage - again restricting them to casting spells only through NRD.

To date he's only attacked with darts, but taken out plenty of enemies with those.  His fairy dragon familiar has helped run many of those round.  In addition it's nibbled directly on Meilum and Karlat (whose scripts don't activate them properly if they don't see a party member).  However, that cheesy tactic proved costly when I attacked Silke thinking the same could be done with her.  It couldn't and Stur had been waiting (invisibly) too far away to be able to run into a house in time - the result was painful for both familiar and Stur (the only damage he's taken to date).

He's just finished killing all the basilisks except for Mutamin's pet (that's been left for later when Stur is prepared to take on Kirian's party with Korax's help).

Unlike recent attempts Stur has had very nice HP rolls, so that might help provide an incentive to look after him.

Stur - human wild mage (update 2)

Stur has continued his travels around the Sword Coast.  By now he's picked up most varieties of wands, though he's used them very rarely - one particular instance being a couple of uses of summons to kill the sirenes on the way to the pirate cave.  The bulk of the time he's still just used darts - he's got through over a thousand of those to date.

He's reached level 7 and just arrived at the Nashkel mine.

 Hannah the Fighter/Mage/Cleric - Update 2
Traveling with: Joshua (Berserker), Paja (Fighter/Thief)

Hannah's team has made a lot of good progress. Much though not all of the Sword Coast is explored. For Mulahey, a scorcher broke his morale and his resistance. The team eventually crashed the bandit camp, mowing down everything/one in their way. Even Khosann couldn't stop us, a doom plus hold x2 stopped his resistance, the full plate going to Paja. For the tent, Joshua used enrage, potion of magic protection, then potion of firebreath on the mage. Once the mage went down, Hannah and Paja entered the tent and assisted - success!

For the party vs. party encounters, our strategy to date is to throw a ton of fireballs at the them with Joshua distracting them, protected from fire and also enraged. Most battles have been pretty clean. However, we did have a few difficult fights, both against ghasts.

Posted Image

This was the area where Shoal is - we encountered ogre berserkers and ghasts both. Corey_Russell was a bit careless and didn't notice that Hannah was near the front and she got held! I turn off AI and tell everyone to attack the one that is attacking her, and the party barely manages to save her - that was a bit too close for comfort.

Posted Image

This is Bassilus area - we encounter more ghasts, but Joshua has no enrages available (uh oh) - yep he gets held! One ghast chases Paja so she runs and in an effort to try to save her friend, Hannah fires a scorcher at Joshua's ghast (well he has 2 of them attacking him). This was working, but then Paja walks right through the scorcher and nearly dies! However the scorcher kills Paja's ghast too - Hannah and Wewa uses their slings and just barely save Joshua. Another close one...

Still, despite these close calls, there only has been one death this run - Paja got in front when she wasn't supposed to and got cut down by Vax and Zal. As a sort of compensation, she got to use Zal's bracers once she was brought back at a temple.

I did a new tactic vs. the Doomsayer this run, think I will do this much more often - I used the paralyzation wand which worked first attempt - easiest kill of the Doomsayer ever for me.

Party Status:
Joshua - level 7 berserker, 92 HP, 462 kills, Greater Basilisk
Paja - level 6 fighter/level 7 thief, 60 HP, 231 kills, Vampiric Wolf
Hannah - level 5 fighter/level 5 mage/level 5 cleric, 54 HP, 244 kills, Doomsayer

Stur - human wild mage (update 3)

In the Nashkel mine I found an irresistible compulsion to use Stur's Bhaal LMD to recoup HPs lost to traps.  That resulted in a quadruple surge - lucky to survive that.
Posted Image

Stur arrived back to Nashkel and found there was no Nimbul - he went back to the mine and looted the chest this time!  Nimbul was now there to be nibbled by the fairy dragon and Tranzig was scorched on the way to the bandit camp.  Some ogres and a scorcher were used in the tent there.

Recharged the wand of monster summoning before going through the Cloakwood.  At the mine Drasus was pulled away and scorched, while the others were fireballed under the cover of some summoned gnolls.  Downstairs a scorcher and Daveorn's fireball killed the battle horrors, while a potion of magic blocking protected Stur from spells.  The familiar then ran Daveorn round while Stur darted him.

I realised too late after doing the mine that I had intended for Stur to get a Bhaal horror, but ended up with 2 useless slow poisons instead (on the plus side that avoids the temptation to use a Bhaal power when less dangerous methods are available).  A number of outstanding reputation quests (also using summons on Kirian's party during that) got Stur's reputation up to 20 and he bought the Claw & Horn of Kazgoroth and the invisibility ring.

He's now at level 8 and has just arrived at Baldur's Gate.

 Hannah the Fighter/Cleric/Mage - Chapter 4
Traveling with: Joshua (level 8 berserker), Paja (level 7 fighter/level 7 thief)

The party was getting near their level caps and also got all the equipment/spell upgrades they were going to get before entering the City of Baldur's Gate. Thus, the party worked their way through the Cloakwood. While Joshua did a great job with his tanking, Hannah and Paja had a tough time in the ambushes. We stayed and fought for the experience, plus the much needed cash from the wyvern heads. Paja died in ambush but we were able to loot her stuff and bring her back to speed at a temple.

Most battles in the cloakwood areas were unremarkable. Cloakwood 2 (spiders/ettercaps), Joshua went invisible and used a free action potion and tripped all the traps. Then we battled th enemies in relative safety. Centeol went fine too (3 opening fireballs softened the opposition).

Drassus goons, we opened with 3 fireballs, killing the mages - Drassus himself was then doomed and held. Haste boots went to Joshua. Interior of the mine pretty simple, we didn't do all of it (don't need the experience), so the only possible hard fight was Heirashan - however, Joshua solved this by spamming necklace of missiles while being protected by a potion of absorption himself.

As for Davaeorn, Joshua soloed him, after being properly buffed of course. The great city of Baldur's Gate is now open to us.

Party Status:
Joshua: 102HP, 609 kills, Greater Basilisk
Paja: 65 HP, 363 kills, Battle Horror
Hannah: 64 HP, 332 kills, Doomsayer
