the only possible hard fight was Heirashan - however, Joshua solved this by spamming necklace of missiles while being protected by a potion of absorption himself.
Stur - human wild mage (update 4)
In the City Stur was only interested in the 3 tomes. He picked up the dexterity one and then used summons on Jalantha and Marek to get the wisdom one (though Marek confused a couple of ogres and Stur had to use a scorcher to avoid innocent casualties). The intelligence tome was left until he's strong enough to break down Ramazith's door unaided.
After investigating the Iron Throne invisibly Stur was sent back to Candlekeep. After being imprisoned there I reviewed available potions and realised I'd forgotten to get a potion of fortitude. That was a problem as it meant he was exposed to the spike traps with only 20 HPs after taking the violet potion, but I decided that was survivable (a lot better than the 9 HPs the last attempt had). By running across the trap with potion and boots of speed he managed to avoid triggering it once and took only 8 HPs the second time.
The problems weren't over though as Stur nearly killed himself when trying to finish the phase spiders off quickly with a fireball. The targeting of himself was deliberate - I knew that magic resistance doesn't protect you from your own spells, but had thought that the mechanics for green scroll of magic protection worked differently - apparently not. It did its job against the traps though.
A potion of invisibility took him past the dopplegangers and Prat's gang, but I couldn't resist taking on the basilisks. This time their sneak attack didn't work and they were taken down in melee (I think that's the first time Stur has used melee in the game).
Before going back to Baldur's Gate Stur took a detour to Durlag's Tower to pick up the tome there. Back in the City, he's just sneaked up Ramazith's Tower to get the intelligence tome and is preparing for his final battles.
