Anyway, if the rest of the members of this challenge approves then I shall approve as well. Once placed in proper perspective I will have to agree.
I guess I'm a bit strict on the rules, as I find it distasteful to see characters with statrolls higher than 90 if it's not the bhaalspawn..

Greg picked up Imoen and travelled on to the FAI to recruit Jaheira. Khalid tagged along, but got killed in a fight with Karlat in Beregost and the party was regrettably too poor to resurrect him.
Down to Nashkel to pick up Edwin and complete the party. They made their way through the Cloud Peaks, though that was harder than it needed to be as all spell scrolls found so far had been sold and Edwin's starting spells (armour and colour spray) are not great. He did eventually manage to learn LMD from the xvart hoard where the charisma tome is. For most encounters Jaheira is tanking, with others using ranged attacks.
I was a bit disappointed that the merchant didn't hand over his furry boots, but Imoen managed to sneak them out of his pocket anyway.
Jaheira, Fighter 3 / Druid 3, 26 HPs, 20 kills, 0 deaths
Imoen, Thief 4, 29 HPs, 22 kills, 0 deaths
Edwin, Mage 2, 12 HPs, 7 kills, 0 deaths
Greg, Wizard Slayer 4, 28 HPs, 55 kills
Greg now has grand mastery in darts and the proficiency bonus is giving him a big advantage in ranged combat.

Indeed - that was a harsh ending. Since then I try and make sure my PC is always close to Sarevok when he goes hostile so that the PC becomes the target rather than the Duke.corey_russell wrote...
I think I remember a Grond0 run where he saved Duke Belt, but then Sarevok killed Belt so Grond0 couldn't complete BG 1 after all.

I have played quite a lot with SCS, yes. I think that's an excellent mod and enjoyed playing with it initially. However, I found after a while it's not really suitable for solo play.

The problem is that the casters use so many buffs that (for many classes) the sensible thing to do in a no-reload solo is just to run away a bit and wait them out. That's fine for a while, but then just gets boring.
The solution is simple: don't play with instacast short-lasting buffs... unless you yourself are playing an arcane caster.
I wouldn't worry about it -- WS is ridiculously underpowered as it is, so....Grond0 wrote...
In relation to WS abilities I don't believe the change makes it a 'hacked class'. All I've done is accepted one particular component of the Fixpack.
EDIT: Just a little addendum. In fact, without SCS enemies just seem so absurdly dumb that it doesn't feel like a real game -- just "going through the motions". Sure, sometimes SCS enemies are cleverer than they should be (Bandit Camp + Sanctuary, anyone?), but you can beat the game solo almost regardless of class. (Potions, items, etc. Of course the need to acquire certain items constrains your run, but I don't see what's particularly bad about that.)

For starters, unlike spell interruption by damage, the casting failure chance inflicted by a WS is checked when a mage starts to cast a spell (which he will do when he sees you, usually) so the mage is almost guaranteed to get at least one spell off - in my games most mages don't manage to cast more than a couple of spells before going down unless they're really high level "boss" types - and the WS isn't able to interrupt those high level mages for a few rounds anyway because of improved mantle/absolute immunity or such spells.
Wizards in BG1 don't have protection from weapon spells, but with SCS they often have a pretty low AC due to buffs like shield, blur, II etc. and a WS will miss regularly with his poor THAC0 and few attacks per round (can't use bracers of archery, potion of mind focusing/heroism oil of speed).
Also: Wizards slay wizard slayers as easily as wizard slayers slay wizards (try saying that fast). Did that mage shoot a 2x chromatic orb minor sequencer at you (or in BG2, a 3x flame arrow sequencer)? Well you can't drink a potion of invulnerability/magic shielding. Did I mention sequencer use is not affected by WS miscast on hit?
Lastly, enemy fighters (particularly with SCS) are a problem for a WS who can't outrun them if they use a potion of speed, and will probably lose trying to slug it out with them if they have a potion of giant strength... the first strength booster available for a WS (apart from the tome) is Crom Fayer.

Incredibly (to me), Theen is still alive. He's even made it to level 7. He's gotten bad HP rolls though, this may cost him when faces Slythe. In any case, he's gotten the key equipment he needed and is finally ready to investigate the Nashkel Mines. Incidents of note:
1) Early Beregost quests and fighting the spiders in Landarin's house got Theen to level 2.
2) Theen then recruited Xzar and Montaron to help him against Shoal - but he let Montaron live, so he only got 1 level instead of 2 - oops. Level 3
3) Traveling to Nashkel, ambushes, traveling to Gnoll Fortress, level 4
4) Using potion of clarity from Candlekeep, The Sirines near the pirate's cave were defeated. Carrion Crawlers defeated by sleep wand. Surprisingly, the flesh golems were defeated by Theen's +1 staff, though Theen would adopt hit and run tactics - he got to level 6 just before entering here so his extra speed factor to his staff probably helped.
5) He got some experience along the way, and at Ulgoth's Beard obtained greenstone amulet, martial staff and cloak of displacement.
6) He then wiped out the basilisks in the basilisks area - he let Kirinan's party live, since Theen doesn't plan on tanking Sarevok, just hit and run. This area got him level 7
This screenie shows his equipment and paltry HP:

Looks like a nice character, CKT. There are some moments I'm wondering of though - why choose swords and axes if you are going to dual to cleric later (though you can't do that with your current Wisdom even with 3 tomes from BG1 - you need 17 Wis to be able to do that...)? They'll be wasted then... IMO it's far better to stick with two (maybe three) weapon types of your choice and concentrate on developing them. It's your game however, so go as it suits you best and safe travels for Balian!
Good point. I forgot about the wisdom needed to dual. Oh well, that's shot, like you said, even w/all 3 Wisom Tomes.
Actually, w/my mods, I think I only have 2 Wis Tome as I seem to remember randomly replacing one of the other types using Randomizer-v68.
As for weapons choices, I chose swords to be in character w/Balian in the movie. I was looking ahead choosing the Mace for when he dualed.
Shucks. Well, Balian will be a heck of a fighter. CKT

THE WICKED WITCH IS DEAD!
Before he came to Beregost, Balian lived in Candlekeep on the Sword Coast. The story is that he had to leave there in haste w/his stepfather, Gorion, a wizard and sage of some renown. They were ambushed & Gorion was killed. Balian would have been alone accept that his friend Imoen, a Swashbuckler, in her own right had followed them. Imoen joined w/Balian & then they added Montaron & Xzar, an Assassin & a Necromancer, respectively. Balian believed that it was safer to form a temporary alliance w/them until he could safely get to the FAI where he was to meet w/friends. It was a good call b/c they had to battle through a half dozen Xvarts, 12 or so Diseased Gibberling’s & a wizard/assassin, Tarnesh, when they arrived @ the FAI to link up w/Khalid & Jaheira. Khalid is an Archer & his wife, Jaheira, an Avenger. On the way back thru Coast Way they battled more Gibberling’s, Diseased and not so & Bandits.
Balian’s wisdom in taking Montaron & Xzar played out here in Beregost too. He was attacked by another assassin, Karlat, an axe-wielding dwarf when he tried to get a room @ the Red Sheaf after they arrived. He killed Karlat in a fight that emptied into the street. Balian then approached me & here I am.
Treasure of note: Balian won a Heavy Crossbow of Accuracy that he gave to me to use. We also have 2 potions but we’ve yet to find anyone to identify them.
Current Disposition: We are @ the Red Sheaf
Next Steps: Balian is headed south to Nashkel @ the urging of Khalid & Jaheira meet w/the mayor there

@Corey. Well done keeping Theen alive - keep that hit & run going. Just for others benefit I'll note that the martial staff can be vicious in anyone's hands as it has a weapon speed of 1 and thus can be used to attack many enemies and retreat before they can respond. A kensai reduces that weapon speed to 0 to increase that effect (fighters can also do this by gaining high mastery in staff and many other classes by putting a pip in 2-handed weapon style).

Greg's gang are still going well and have just arrived at the Bandit Camp.
Did various tasks in Beregost and took a few things back to the FAI for Landrin.
At the basilisk area Edwin reminded Greg of some unfinished business at the Gnoll Stronghold. After Jaheira had led the assault on the basilisks, Edwin put down a couple of webs; as soon as Mutamin was held by those the party attacked - killing him before he could talk. For Kirian's party Edwin put down 3 webs - none of them were able to take any action either.
At the Gnoll Stronghold Dynaheir got her come-uppance to cement Edwin's place in the party. Cleared up a number of further areas, including Bassilus - he did surprisingly well to get a rigid thinking off through multiple hits, but that was his lot.
More webs were used on the sirines (note that Edwin went past them invisibly to cast web from the side so that Greg didn't have to walk into the web to throw darts at the ones furthest away). After similar treatment for Sil, Jaheira ran the golems round while Greg and Imoen shot them with some of the +1 arrows found on their journeys. In a remarkable display of self-control Greg handed the constitution tome over to Jaheira (as she is acting as the tank).
After going through the mines with minimal damage I decided to play fair with Mulahey and allow him to talk. Jaheira tanked his supporters while the others concentrated on the cleric - making him run without managing a spell. From that point the fight was rapidly won, though they had to follow Mulahey outside to finish him off (that gave him some sort of a chance as changing areas removes his morale loss condition, but he still failed to get a spell away).
Outside the mine the amazons became the latest web victims. Before clearing the rest of that area I wanted to get a magic weapon for Jaheira - Silke provided that (Imoen also managed to pick the pockets of 2 of the merchants while they were walking away). While in the area Imoen tried her first backstab out on Tranzig - spoiling one spell and he got no chance to try another.
Back at the Valley of the Tombs the Revenant went down quite quickly, although he managed several hits of his own. Imoen's second backstab was more successful than I expected - accounting for Narcillicus. The mustard jellies proved more difficult (only Jaheira and Greg could hit them and he didn't have a proficient weapon) and several healing potions were used (don't think any had been used up to that point). There was an interesting moment with the ghasts - Edwin tried webbing them inside the tomb, one failed, but only showed up as caught after getting outside.
Back in Nashkel, Nimbul's mirrors protected him against Imoen's backstab, but he still didn't have time to complete another spell.
Jaheira, Fighter 5 / Druid 5, 49 HPs, 89 kills, 0 deaths
Imoen, Thief 6, 40 HPs, 71 kills, 0 deaths
Edwin, Mage 5, 28 HPs, 29 kills, 0 deaths
Greg, Wizard Slayer 5, 51 HPs, 181 kills
HP rolls have generally been good, with Imoen and particularly Edwin above average, Jaheira exactly average and Greg only 1 HP below average.

Last night...
Carthusian (VIII) has used 3 necklace of missile charges before Drasus reacts (failed to hide in shadows). The dagger of venom was used in a running battle before the monk steps into the boots of his enemy.
Kysus is a smouldering corpse already but Rezdan is added to it with another venomous strike. Genthore takes a dozen or so hits, failing to be poisoned.
The way down to Davaeorn is dark, meaning Carthusian can elect not to fight anyone. Another necklace charge (1 left now, won't be recharging it) grabs the attention of Davaeorn and his two battle horrors. At one stage a charm beats the greenstone amulet reaction time but not the saving throw (18). This is the 2nd careless act of the night, the first being that trap north of the ettercaps in Cloakwood.
With this second bit of luck Carthusian uses shadowy corners to cut down Davaeorn and after a couple of misses he decides to consign the battle horrors to a watery grave.
Level 7, 45hp. 82 kills - Greater Basilisk.

On to the Coronation. 3 greater doppelgangers are down, as is Liia. Carthusian takes a couple of hits and after a quick glug decides to run. Too late, a doppelganger slashes him into oblivion.
(hmm, AC -9 plus golden girdle and still shredded. Must be out of practice)

Theen has successfully negotiated chapters 5, 6 and 7, mostly by careful use of buffs, and skipping unnecessary fights. Sarevok is his next target...I can't dispel his haste, and I certainly can't range attack him, not sure how this will work out, hope I can pull it off...
@Gate70: Sorry to hear you being cut down at the palace. You may have just been unlucky. Duchal Palace is the one encounter I believe it's possible to lose even with perfect play (like the Dopplegangers rolling multiple 20's etc.).

So Theen unequips his Claw of Kazagarath, uses a pro magic scroll and uses an invis potion and skips the thieve's maze and the Undercity.
Theen does most of his buffs, and has 2nd set of potions in case he gets dispelled. His pro magic scroll is still active, he goes left, fires a necklace of missile, hitting Sarevok - Theen goes to the lower left corner and waits for Sarevok - at the last moment Theen goes invisible - Semaj is visible in the center.
Theen goes to the dais area, no sign of Angelo or Tazok, but if Theen attacks Semaj with Theen's staff, he will be seen by Sarevok - he wants to save Sarevok for last. So instead, Theen fires a necklace of missile shot at Semaj - this has the desired effect, Angelo and Tazok appear nearby. Angelo is quickly killed in melee, but Tazok's hits has forced Theen to go invisible and re-heal. Theen then adopts a hit and run approach on Tazok with Theen's martial staff and eventually Tazok falls - during this fighting, Semaj moved closer to Theen - excellent! This means Theen can attack Semaj with his staff without being seen by Sarevok. Takes a while but Semaj also falls.
Only Sarevok left. Theen hits Sarevok, but Sarevok's counter-hit is a critical, dropping Theen to less than 1/2 life - yikes! Theen goes invisible once more, and heals up. He puts up regen and DUHM and tries hit and run approach with his martial staff with Sarevok - incredibly, Theen hit so fast, Sarevok couldn't get any hits on Theen, and after about 4 more hits, Sarevok falls!

Though it's probably suicide being human, Theen will try to solo BG 2 as well. He's taking the Claw with him - now that I know it can be dispelled, he can better manage its use. He had about 500 kills. He finished with a natural 79 HP, and only used the DEX, CON, STR, WIS and INT tomes (1 each).

I've also tried a WS with a party once. Mine was, however, a really "hacked" version from SHS, which is much more powerful then the one you're using. I managed to get up to Prat's Air Elemental battle, then got stunned by a dart and died...
Anyways, if you're using SCS, mages won't even try to cast spells if they have >50% chance of failure, they'll wait it out.
If you're not, you'll still be in a world of hurt - WS is such a pain to play, ranged ot not, probably one of the hardest to play. GL.

What do you find so imbalanced about Rogue Rebalancing kits? From my experience, they're usually (apart from late-game Assassin) weaker then their vannila incarnations.

In vanilla BG 2, the claw was mistakenly classed as a dispellable buff, Thus, in my BG 1 one, when I put up pro magic scroll, I had to un-equip and re-equip the claw back to get its effects back. Thus, I won't be relying on the claw in any encounter where an enemy will/might dispel me.
I have never used the Rogue Rebalancing kit, so can't say whether it's imbalanced or not. I know the RR jester is a lot more powerful than its vanilla counterpart. I was only using it as an example where classes were significantly changed from their baseline in discussion with Easymask, as Easymask was concerned about Grond0's minor tweak to his WS class.Aasim wrote...

VAMPIRIC WOLF MENACE!
Balian finally arrived in Nashkel & after a quick visit to the Nashkel Store, went to the Nashkel Inn, where he was again attacked by an assassin, Neira. Balian had us move into the street & spread out. Before we went out, Jaheira hit Neira w/a Chromatic Orb. At first she didn’t follow us, so Balian went back in a hurled a Throwing Axe @ her before coming back outside. Neira followed this time. W/the entire party firing ranged weapons @ her, her spells kept failing before she could get them off. She was quickly dead.
Treasure of note: Nothing extraordinary; We still have the 2 unidentified potions but no one seems to know what they are; Neira was wearing a helm that we don't have the gold to identify yet

Now I plan to link up w/Minsc & head west to save Dynahier & try to accomplish that mission w/o a reload. This will be tough b/c 'wandering monsters', like Winter Wolves & Ogre Magi can end the party quickly b/c w/SCS loaded the Ogre Magi will throw 'Sleep' quickly - been there, done that. This will be tough to make w/o a reload. I'll have to play smart w/o using foreknowledge to advantage myself.
Regardless, once I make it, I plan to release Garrick for a sabbatical to work on his music @ the FAI while going forward to the mines w/Minsc & Dy.
Happy tonight though b/c accomplishing this much is very rare for me! Heck, Alabama beat LSU too. GREAT NIGHT!!!

Treacle, elf dragon disciple (Grond0) & Dunovr, elf dragon disciple (Gate70)
After our dungeon debacle ended what had been a promising run, we initially started to roll new random classes. However, with BGEE having recently been patched and BG2EE on the horizon we decided to try BGEE out in multi-player for the first time. To test out one of the newly available kits we're both running dragon disciples.
There were some early problems getting used to the new set-up. It's rather more laggy than recent BGT attempts and the speeds of creatures are rather different - a wolf nearly killed Dunovr near Gorion's body as a result of those. However, he survived and the duo moved on to confront Shoal. This time he didn't survive as she jumped next to him and refused to take no for an answer to her offer of a kiss. Treacle used his sling to finish her off before heading for the temple.
In Beregost Marl was placated, Firebead handed a book (giving a scroll case in return
In return the mage cast a flame arrow, that Treacle was fortunate to survive (even more fortunate than I realised at that time). With Treacle retreating though the mage put an acid arrow into Dunovr to finish her off. After another trip to the temple the duo returned to Beregost and shot down Silke before seeking out the mage again. He now seemed to be out of direct damage spells and Dunovr clubbed him down. The bodyguards were easy meat for slings.
Going north, the ogre belt was collected on the way to find the ring of wizardry at the FAI. Then it was back south, past Nashkel, for a trip through the Cloudpeaks. There was an ambush by a winter wolf at one point, but Treacle was able to play target there courtesy of Gorion's belt (now identified) which provides 100% cold resistance. It also gives 50% extra fire damage, which Treacle didn't know about when in combat with the Thayan wizard.
The final action was rescuing Samuel and returning him to the FAI. Tarnesh was also tackled here - blinded at the second attempt. Interestingly, it appeared from that encounter that blind only turns people hostile if it works - we'll probably test that properly next time.
Apart from being a bit laggy there were a few glitches noted - like a continually repeating dawn/dark movie. We may be able to help some of those by fine-tuning our respective config files.
Stats:
Treacle, dragon disciple 4, 26 HPs, 36 kills
Dunovr, dragon disciple 3, 19 HPs, 13 kills, 2 deaths
Treacle has picked up an early lead here thanks to getting a jump start with all Shoal's XP. Dunovr now has the ring of wizardry, so should be better placed for next time. HPs are slightly higher than you would expect for sorcerors as dragon disciples use a d6, rather than a d4.
