I went to Candlekeep w/my servants & had one mission in mind…Crush the Iron Throne Leader Rielter & anyone w/him. It’s not the Iron Throne or Rielter I care about & I don’t give a darn about the troubles in the region caused by the Iron Crisis.  No, no.  Decimating the Iron Throne is like finding a precious metal or gold vein except the Iron Throne is a direct vein to my getting ‘MORE POWER.’ Through them I am becoming the most powerful man in Faerun…& the world awaits…all to the glory of my true Demon Lord.  When they finally reveal themselves, they will be proud & I will be even more powerful!

UGH! NAG, NAG, NAG...GIVE IT A REST WOMAN!

After a night @ the Inn & a trip around Candlekeep, selling what I could etc., I went into the Library. I had Safana pick up every scroll we could find for my weakling mage Quayle to cast from – Shar-Teel is right about him, he’s the weak link & he’s on borrowed time now but I need to replace him before I kill him. On the third floor of the Library I found Rielter in the open surrounded by three others. He tried to bully me & I said I’d leave… before setting up an ambush. Viconia discreetly cast Silence 15’ Radius amongst them while Safana slipped, Hidden in Shadow, to the back of the room they were inQuayle cast a Fireball right in the middle of the table while I cast Horror. Rielter, the wuss, broke right then & there & Safana moved in from Shadow to finish him w/a backstab. Shar-Teel & Kagain started kickin’ tail & Viconia moved in w/Spiritual Hammer. They were dead in short order.

WELL, THAT WAS DISAPPOINTING. IS THERE A WORTHY FOE IS FAERUN?

I was arrested in short order, along w/my followers & placed in a cell even I didn’t know existed.  Tethtoril came down & freed me by teleporting me into the catacombs below – the tombs really. It was a goldmine of equipment to power my efforts. There were traps, spiders, Ghasts & Doppelgangers galore but Safana handled the traps w/a Potion of Clarity & we had little trouble from the monsters we encountered in the tomb area. There was another area, almost like ab old banquet hall, again that I’d never known about in all my years. This place was chalk full of Doppelgangers & some Skeletons w/Composite Long Bows. Unfortunately, here after a rest back in the library, Safana’s Potion of Clarity had worn off. She found traps around the banquet floor but could not disarm them so I had to walk around them, hoping there weren’t some she didn’t detect, to get to the Skeleton’s & keep them from pelting me w/arrows.

THAT WAS A DECENT FIGHT...A GREATER DOPPELGANGER AND SOME LIL' DOPPELGANGERS

Key Event: I ended up in some caves down a hallway off of the banquet area or whatever it was.  Shortly after entering the caves, my folks & I ended up in a battle w/some decently stout customers.  Not too stout, mind you, but tougher than that wuss Rielter. Quayle fired off a Stinking Cloud from a scroll & it was very effective, including knocking my butt out @ one point.  One of the enemy let fly a freakin’ Lightning Bolt in a cave, I just never get over the stupidity of that. It killed Quayle but the rest of us were fine. We separated w/Viconia & Safana goin’ around one side to flank the enemy while She-Bear, Kagain & I waded into the Stinking Cloud to kick butt. We did.

59c2ae62ba3b595e547219d272aebf.jpg
THESE GUYS MADE ME WORK A BIT. I HAD TO THINK A MOMENT TOO. NOT BAD.

I found a way out that let us out beside Candlekeep but not before I had a tussle w/two huge Basilisks.  As soon as we saw them, luckily they didn’t see us, I pushed everyone back b/c w/Quayle dead we couldn’t use our Protection from Petrification scrolls. I quaffed a Potion of Mirrored Eyes & then beat them senseless – just before the potion wore off.

32748a3345615c720234d36346c19b.jpg
BASILISKS ARE EASY. THE THING IS WONDERING WHEN THE 'POTION OF MIRRORED EYES' IS GONNA WEAR OFF

I headed to Beregost to raise Quayle, identify a bunch of enchanted items, sell tons of gems & get organized for whatever is next…which I now know is to lie low for a while in the south near Amn.

That night I dreamt again, the first power coming to me in a dream & granting me Vampiric Touch yet again & warning me that the path I have chosen was not the one Gorion would have chosen for me & is not one that makes my journey easier...

...but that dream was quickly blown away as a feather in the wind because….

FINALLY! I saw clearly whom it is I serve. All the former Demoness' were only the cover & the title page.  Now I've seen the true story that goes on forever. I've seen HER in her statuesque beauty, her sardonic smile on ruby red lips, curved horns from her brow holding back her long dark hair, eyes smoldering w/dangerous sensuality, large leathery wings stretching from her back laced w/razor like claws & a sinuous tail ending in a thin curved spike. Her revealing gown of diaphanous silk & razor studded leather straps & a glittering, sparkling scourge made w/fine adamantine spiked chains. My Demoness Lord, ruler of all that is hedonistic. I am hers, my soul is hers for eternity.  Her otherworldly beauty I crave with all that I am & my sword is hers alone on this plane so that one day I can serve her in  hers. When she came to me in my dream I saw her in HER realm, Shendilavri, layer 570 of the abyss. I desired to be there with her, to serve in even the most menial way, as a slave if that is her plan for me.  It matters not. Where she leads me, I will follow w/o question to the death if she demands it…

MALCANTHET, Demon Queen of the Succubi!1

Treasure of Note: Robe of the Neutral Arch-Magi (Quayle); Gauntlets of Weapons Expertise (Me), handed off my Gauntlets of Weapons Skill to Shar-Teel; Cloak of Protection +2 (Shar-Teel); Ring of Protecton +1 (Viconia); Manual of Bodily Health* (Me); Tome of Leadership & Influence* (Viconia); Throwing Axe +2 (Kagain); Numerous Potions & Scrolls

*Note: I was hoping for a Manual of Clear Thought to get Safana up to 17 Intelligence so she could dual over to Mage; then I was gonna fire Quayle & sneak into Baldur’s Gate to Hire Skie for Thieving duties; I saw her when I delivered Eddard Silvershield’s Fistula to his mother upon arrival @ Baldur’s Gate – forgot to mention that in last journal

Current Disposition: Hiding in Plain Site in Beregost

Next Steps: l learned during my dream that Malcanthet is @ war w/the Demon Lord Yeenoghu, Demon Lord of Gnolls. She directed that my first act in direct service to her is to attack & completely destroy EVERY living thing in a Gnoll Fortress in the SW corner of the Sword Coast. She has learned from her spies that Yeenoghue is trying to gain a foothold to begin to work toward his desire to see the prosperity of his people, the Gnolls. Malcanthet not only wants every living thing in the stronghold destroyed - she further expects me to destroy any Gnoll, anywhere, anytime w/o hesitation.

BASILISKS ARE NERVE WRACKING - NEVER KNOW WHEN THE MIRRORED EYES IS GONNA WEAR OFF

I have some tips - ignore them if you want. First of all if you have two potions, just have two fighters each gulp one then charge, together they should be able to get the job done before the potions wear off, especially if they attack the same one.

If you only have one potion, then the trick is to increase damage dealing, so consume any potion that improves Thac0 or damage, like storm giant potion, heroism, haste, etc. Invulnerability (or protection from poison scroll) is also handy so you don't waste time using antidotes during the fight, as Greater Basilisks also have a poison attack. Party members can also assist once you sufficiently have the basilisks attention...

Not with SCS. They'll instantly switch to whoever isn't protected.

@Blackraven - interesting Weidu there - no cap for Celestials - that's huge! The damage I could do with 5 planetars or devas...in my installs I can only have 1 present in a fight at a time - this is vanilla behavior.

"Give Celestials slightly more staying power" = no cap for Celestials?
I didn't know that. I'm not much of summoner (don't really like the concept), so I don't think I'll be noticing much of it. But good to know that in a pinch they'll help out. BTW I don't think I can summon more than one at a time...

@Aasim, I think I dealt with Oversight Sendai once, I got shredded many times and needed a lot of reloads. Maybe I'm biting ff more than I can chew with all these mods. It's been six months to one year since I last had a relatively successful run through BG2 (it ended in Hell against Irenicus and his sh*tload of demons).

Why am I carrying all these scrolls, you ask?  I play that specialist wizards are limited by their Guilds to only write & memorize spells from their own school.  But b/c of their knowledge of magic they are able to cast spells from other schools from a scroll.

Why the extra set of plate mail for Kagain? Answer, Hard Times Mod. You can end up naked as a jaybird in no time flat - supposed to simulate the weakened ore from the Nashkel MInes. Plate Armor seems safe but chain, splint and Plate Mail, non-magical weapons, all can fall apart so having extras - see Shar-Teel loaded w/Long Swords.  As soon as you find an enchanted weapon you're safe.  Need one more enchanted B/Axe for kagain & I can quit luggin' B/Axes & Throwing Axes all over - heavy & take up room.  Same w/She-Bear (Shar-Teel) - once I find a magiv Long Sword, two actually I'm in the clear w/her.

Unfortunately, w/the Randomiser mod, I have no clue where they are.  CKT

You can't. That SCS component doesn't allow for extra Celestials.

I wasn't talking about that line of the Weidu - guess I should have quoted it. Meant this line:

Grit - elven wild mage (3rd and final update)

In the City Grit quickly picked up the tomes.  Jalantha failed to cast a spell under assault from summons before talking to Lothander got Grit to level 9 (finishing BG1 with 56 HPs - which is 2 above average).  The wand of paralysation then stopped Marek in his tracks (the green amulet was also used before that to protect against chaos), while Ramazith was cut down by some gnolls (a knock scroll was used to get into his house).

After picking up the violet potion Grit reported to Duke Eltan and was sent back to Candlekeep.  She looted the tombs using a scroll of magic protection and a fortitude potion to supplement the violet one and used the frost wand on the phase spiders.  There was a slight mistake when leaving when I tried to move her too quickly and she clicked where a doppleganger was just appearing - that meant she had to use a potion of invisibility as well as her ring.

Back in the City I didn't pay enough attention to what was happening to Slythe - he was actually killed by the second group of summons, though I'd summoned a third before I realised that.  At the palace Grit dodged up and down the stairs to attract 5 of the 6 dopplegangers up for disposal using wand of paralysation.  Their good saves meant she used up 2 of those wands and the last doppleganger was frost blasted.

Before going after Sarevok Grit bought all the spells she wanted for BG2 and used the red potion to learn them.  I then realised she hadn't picked up a cloudkill scroll and went to get that (learning it later just before attacking Sarevok after using 3 potions of mind focusing).

Finally ready, she used a scroll of magic protection to go through the maze invisibly and also set off the lightning traps in the temple.  Then she drew Sarevok out with a magic missile from wand and set about burying him in summons.  I realised Grit hadn't brought enough darts and ran out of them with Sarevok at badly injured, but she had plenty of monsters and wand magic missiles and they completed the job without incident.

She returned invisibly to Duke Belt and has now arrived in Athkatla.  As advertised, I reckon that was a virtually risk-free run for her, with no surges and the only nasty moment being a critical hit on her familiar by an ogrillon.

One mod that you didn't mention is Level 1 NPCs.

I like it as it Nerfs the overpowered and boosts the underpowered.

Of course, if the NPCs have overpowered weapons, it can't do anything about that, but rangers having ***** in scimitars, it can.

Long, long time ago, like when I first attempted no-reloads and had failure after failure, I had a bard named Koon - thus this bard is Koon II. I will do a formal intro (e.g., pictures/stats) in my next post, he will travel with Joshua the dwarven fighter, Paja the elven fighter/thief and Hanna the half-elf druid.

Koon stats: STR 15 DEX 18 CON 16 INT 18 WIS 3 CHA 15

My Queen led me promptly on a mission to strike @ one of her greatest rivals amongst other Demon Lords, Yeenoghu. He was trying to grab a foothold in the SW Corner of the Sword Coast, in an old abandoned castle.  He’d led a band of his ‘people’, the Gnolls, to this castle to establish a stronghold for operating in & around the Sword Coast. She has prepared me well.  After where my Queen, thru her surrogates, the Succubus, the Lilitu & the Type V Marilith Demoness, have already led me, the Gnolls were child’s play. There were Xvarts there too, held as captives, slaves, guards, food even. Likely the Gnolls raided the Xvart Village north of the stronghold & dragged them back with them for that purpose.

I got there by way of that Xvart Village but I didn’t raid it, & then Bear River, but I didn’t hesitate there either. I was on a mission for my Queen & it wasn’t in either one of those places. Mine was a crusade to search, destroy & decimate! I did so & as I did so my Queen’s hatred for Yeenoghu & his Gnolls filled my being & I sliced thru them w/a rage I’ve never felt in this life. I will kill every Gnoll or Gnoll like Creature I can find, Flinds, etc. w/o hesitation. I am sworn to kill them all long as I walk this land.

Key Event: As key events go, it really wasn’t much to write about. I found the Gnoll Chieftain & about 25 Gnolls, including his Elite Bodyguards on the second level of the strongholds walls. I killed them side by side w/Shar-Teel & Kagain while the others provided ranged support w/sling stones, darts & a spell or two. This was easy treasure but not much of it. Still, knowing that I was honored to strike a blow for my Queen against her sworn enemy is payment enough.

70a008d118393e6e5c2912d2f993da.jpg
KILLING THE GNOLL CHIEFTAIN, HIS ELITE BODYGUARDS, THE SLASHERS & VETERANS, ALL OF THEM!!!

As directed, I destroyed every living thing, searching out within to destroy the females & the young. When I walked back across the bridge, I’d only been there a few hours.  I feel her presence filling me w/a hatred I have not known yet…& I yearn for more knowledge of her perfect Chaos & Evil in its purest form.

e14b3ec122a1a3eeb1e601268468b2.jpg
DECIMATED AS DIRECTED!

One thing though, I counted only about 50 Gnolls in the Stronghold w/a Chieftain accompanied by his Elite Bodyguards, Veterans & Slasher’s. A Chieftain of that level would normally have at least 100 male Gnolls, 5-20 of them Elites.  There must be more of them somewhere, likely on a raid.  Living in Candlekeep, I was always interested in various humanoids & had ample opportunity to read about their societal makeup, their habits, tendencies etc. Gnolls I know particularly well.

Treasure of Note: None really, some minor gems. I purchased a Short Sword +1 & Darts +1 x20 for Safana from a Merchant @ the Nashkel Carnival. Oh, I walked in on a ‘mage fight’ @ the carnival & I killed one mage just after he’d finished the other. They had a couple of scrolls & some potions we snatched up.

Current Disposition: Resting, selling & organizing treasure @ the Nashkel Carnival

THE MORE BLOOD WE SPILL, THE MORE FULFILLING MY NIGHTS. MY QUEEN HAS PROVIDED FOR MY EVERY NEED!

Next Steps: My senses lead me to a place I know of, Fisherman’s Lake. It’s about midway between Beregost & the Gnoll Stronghold that I just decimated for my Queen. I’ve never been there before but I will know, I think, when I get there why I feel I am supposed to go there.

Grimwald is correct. It's a program one can use to install a seemingly endless amount of mods and their components on your game, very convinient and easy to use. I don't since I don't install many mods, but if I did, I'd use it.

Koon II is still alive, so just a quick post introducing his team.

We have made it to Nashkel and defeated Karlat and Neira and spiders, which aren't too hard with two sleeps. We did have a few setbacks. When we were all level one, we got two ogrillion and like 6 wardogs ambush - we decided it would be prudent to run, for now. Also, we thought at level 1 we should be able to get Perdue's sword - well we were wrong, we engaged two gnolls a skeleton, and the enemies killed Paja, so she had to be raised - we immediately did safe experience that we could to try to level us. One example is we blinded and killed Silke and of course the Beregost spiders.

We also tried to get revenge for Bjornin on the 4 ogrillions at low level and had a heck of a time. On the way to that target, We had to fight like 3 cave bears, 6 gnolls and 6 wardogs, piece-meal but one after another, it was tense - to survive an entangle and sleep were necessary. Later on way to Nashkel another ambush, skeletons and gnolls this time in a ravine with only one exit. Joshua had 37 HP by this point, though so we held our ground, or at least Joshua did with everyone else running for some cover - some gnolls pursued but they weren't successful and the team won and got a level, so all good I suppose.

At end of session, we were on way to gnoll fortress (Cloudpeakes) to try to get some gauntlets for Joshua. He'll dual wield once he gets those and full plate. Introductions:

I recommend that you make a copy of your current install, on external drive if not enough room on PC.

Then mess around with your installation. That means that if it goes wrong, at least you can quickly get back to the situation you are now in.
