How come ligtning strikes at stone when there's metal around anyway?

Aasim, I thought the same thing. Lightning is not known for striking rock that I know of & all her armor & gear was petrified, and destroyed, w/her. & again, I have PCs/NPCs get struck by lightning but as I recall rarely does it cause damage - just startles the heck out of me. CKT
@CKT: In vanilla, lightning does no damage (I know because I have taken more than 100 strikes with no damage at all). I think with ToBex it does damage, just something you live with (or turn weather off) if using that.
Sorry to hear your shocking story CKT. I've had at least 1 run ended by lightning due to a failure to keep more than 50% of HPs up any time its raining - leaving the area or resting are ways to deal with it. Being subject to a basilisk gaze unprotected is pretty dangerous anyway though as a follow-up gaze attack will destroy a statue - the basilisk won't deliberately gaze at stone, but can send a gaze attack off before a character is petrified to arrive afterwards.
Mel - half-elf archer (update 1)
I've finished a first run through the game with Alac in preparation for a future speed-run attempt. I'll want to do another one to refine my approach in a few areas and change the structure of my notes a bit. However, I thought I'd have a run with a different character first. A while ago someone was casting doubt on the ability of an archer to complete the game solo. Since that's the character class I particularly identify myself with I thought I should see if I can set the record straight!
Mel has got the advantage of a very nice starting set of stats ...
Best of luck Grond0! Avenge Guttax by taking out Mel for me!
Another Good, Bad and Ugly run with slightly different party. Protagonist is a gnomish Dragon Slayer this time.
Everyone wonders how the three of us beacame friends. That is easy to answer. Apart from Imoen, these two were my only peers. If I meet up with Imoen, she will also be welcome in the party.
Once we had arrived at the Friendly Arms in we were attacked by another assassin. He was quickly disposed of, and we then went to find Joia's ring.
We continued northwards and ended up killing some fishermen who were overfishing and also comitting murder.
We then took on a nearby Ankheg and prevailed though it did injure me somewhat.
We then headed south towards Nashkel, dropping of Joia's ring on the way. We came across some gnoll which we killed before heading further south where we met a distressed chicken. We killed the wolf that had been planning on eating it and took it to High hedge to dispel the spell that had caused it much distress. On the way we met some skeletons that hurt us somewhat.

When we reached Nashkel, we went to the Carnival first. We rested and then watched an exploding ogre who got angry with us. We killed it with difficulty.

We were going to help Silke, but it turned out she wanted us to commit murder. Even darkheart was opposed to this. We therefore dealt with her. We were then given a potion by those who would have been her victims. Ladron wasn't happy and took an additional potion to bring the reward up to what he thought it should have been.

Went on to go sirene hunting. I used a potion of clarity in order to take them on single-handed. It was a joint effort to kill the carrion crawlers. Ladron Vert plundered the cave by stealth since our health was not good and no more potions of clarity if a sirene arrived whilst sleeping!!.
Starting a new game called "The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly
Self explanatory I think.
Don't know why Photobucket is black and white, but adequate for this I think.
Edit: Photobucket doesn't like bmp extension either. That is why b & w.
Tried posting and image extension not allowed. It was bmp. Does it have to be jpg?
Tried jpg too. What extension is allowed?
Seen that others have posted jpg.
Is it that photobucket links are not allowed?
They always used to be on the old forum.
GtW, Two things.
1) I have given up using anything but JPEG images. Anytime I try anything else, I get an error message. Here's a thought I learned from Blackraven (hope he's okay, he's not been seen here in a while but maybe real-life has his attention now - here's hoping). Anyway, all three of us post both here & in the D&D Baldur's Gate Forum. I was having the same problem as you are now & BR suggested that I post in the D&D BG Forum first, then copy & paste into Bioware Forum. Works every time. I have to edit the narrative b/c I like to use colored font & italics to indicate certain things so I have to cut & paste from my Word Doc over the plain Black script that comes over from the D&D BG Forum but that just takes a moment or two. At any rate, the images pop up instantly when I paste them from D&D BG Forum into Bioware forum & that's your concern. But...you have to use JPEG.
2) Where the heck did you get a CRUSADER PC Class? You've got to share!!! Looks like on the next post, he turned into a Dragon Slayer & that's cool too BUT I'm REALLY interested in that CRUSADER class. No hording cool classes dude! lol
Thanks, CKT

Whoops the crusader pack doesn't have the crusader kit in it. Try this one.
http://www.rpgcron.k...et/soa/kits.htm
I don't think that is it either.
Though it is a crusader kit.
Just found it in my Weidu log:

It is the mod: Enhanced BG2 v1.0 that you need.
You will find that not all the mod will install, as it is written for BG2 not Tutu, however, the parts that you do need install OK. If you are playing BGT there will probably be no problem. Any problems they want to know about as it is hot off the press!
Kit description:
CRUSADER: This holy warrior is example of perfect paladin, which fights in defence of faith. He is brave, strong, valiant and proud. The most important for him are faith and homeland. From the beginning to the end he knows what to do, how to behave. He is cruel to enemies, but he fights honestly.
Advantages:
- Immunity to fail morale and basic psionic attacks
- Immunity to poison, disease, petrification, level drain and backstab
- 25% resistance to fire, cold and acid. Extra 2% for every five levels.
- May gain 'Grand mastery' in two-handed sword
Disadvantages:
- May not devote any proficiency points to any weapons except for two-handed sword
- May not use missile weapons.
Many extra spells from level 12 onwards. Obviously written for BG2, not BG1!

Congrats Grond0! I must say, an archer seems like a good fit, since you often employ run and shoot tactics. Don't forget to get dispelling arrows in BG 2, they can save your bacon against enemy mages.
The good the bad and the ugly ran from the sirenes lair as fast as possible as they had been badly hurt. Despite this, they were able to help the archaeologist and Brage before heading to the Carnival for a long period of rest and recuperation. Took three full days to recover, then tried to stop one mage murdering another, but was too late. ![]()
Then headed south and fought Greywolf. He didn't put up much of a fight at all.

Time for Nashkel Mine. The party venture forth, led by Hewer. Sort of.
"Who the **** are you" inquires Mulahey "I was expecting Hewer!"
I would explain to Mulahey how Hewer the solo monk died at an early stage and an earlier monk travelling in a party was mistaken for him, in fact being named as him repeatedly (as the various screenshots show, his real name is Jerov) but names don't matter to the dead.
The party pass Edwin on their way back to town. Jerov stops to speak to him then decides party reputation (18) might be something of an issue. Another time then.
Berrun Ghastkill is relieved to hear Nashkel Mine is back in business; reputation spikes to 19. Dorn is less impressed, deciding to clear off to the Friendly Arm Inn and reputation caps out at 20.
(I thought the new NPC's ignored reputation, could drop it and recruit him again but probably won't)
With Dorn gone Jerov has a rethink and parts company with Rasaad. Imoen and Neera remain, and on the way (almost) to deal with Nimbul the man with the golden hamster is picked up instead (level 6, 52hp).
Minsc immediately secures his slot by saving against horror and sends the top half of Nimbul into the not so nearby stream.
Arghain the half ogre wants our weapons, instead Minsc takes his.
The gnoll fortress is receiving constant reinforcements and Neera uses her one sleep spell as the party are beseiged. Jerov was planning to save this for the chieftain and his closest allies but needs must. The final battle is tougher still but Jerov and co are experienced enough to not worry about it. Dynaheir has no equipment left by the time she is rescued and Jerov reluctantly accepts her as the price of adventuring with Minsc. A cheap sling is quickly procured before Silke is relieved of her magical staff. Imoen hands over a cloak and girdle to protect Dynaheir from stray arrows.
Tranzig gets a similar treatment to that of Silke (fists, 2 handed sword, arrows, Magic Missile, Chromatic Orb, death) and the evidence points to a hidden bandit camp.
Jerov. With Minsc, Imoen, Neera and Dynaheir.
Everywhere apart from the main bandit tent has been cleared so a rest is called for. Venkt, Raemon, Hakt and Britik are waiting inside but are unable to defend themselves after Magic Missiles are used to de-mirror Venkt. Imoen completes her looting of the camp and Cloakwood beckons.
Neera catches a group of tasloi napping and Dynaheir ensures their final dreams are of a fireball. Seniyad manages to call lightning down onto Jerov but this is not enough to save him or his druids and the party move on.
Spiders and ettercaps have their web traps removed by Imoen whilethe 3m's (melee, magic and missiles) are used to deal with them. Centeol and her pets are treated to more of the same with fireballs thinning down the crowd before they arrive. Minsc upgrades to the Spiders Bane 2 handed sword and tests it out on Peter of the North.
Berserk rage and Spiders Bane Free Action gives Minsc the means to solo a hamadryad. Flushed with confidence he peers into a large cave to test out a ring of infravision. Everybody is shaking their heads but Minsc says Boo says it will be OK. Several rounds later Minsc has glugged 2 elixirs of health and 2 green potions but dies anyway. Jerov takes another bite or two but both wyverns inside are almost dead and Magic Missiles sees their demise just as Jerov is hit by a baby wyvern. He runs from the two attacking him, encouraging a third into the chase. Chromatic orb drops one and a second falls to missiles but the third is uninjured. Jerov glugs a healing potion and as Neera blinds it he turns and gives it a dose of venom from his dagger.
Minsc is raised at a temple, keen to investigate Cloakwood Mine.
Decided not to continue with "The Good the Bad and the Ugly. Disn't like the lack of interaction between characters. Therefore switched to a Blackguard run to investigate the kit and also the Xzar quest.
Diary of Blackblade
I cannot comprehend why Gorion chose to raise me. If he was wanting a son of his ilk, he could have chosen better than me as I seem to be the antithesis of everything he stands for. It is hardly surprising that as a Tiefling I became a Blackguard and a powerful one at that with Stats of:
Str 18/90, Dex 19, Con 18, Int 15, Wis 6, Cha 16. Bastard Sword: **. Dual wielding: **.
In Candlekeep I was attacked by an assassin who wounded me severely.
Upon picking up his weapons I discovered why. They were a +1 Bastard Sword and a dagger of venom which I will use as my weapons of choice at the moment. Before meeting another assassin I had used a potion of oil of speed, so he fell quickly. Whilst his weapons were not as useful, his armour was as good if not better than plate, so I left Candlekeep moderately well equipped.
After being ambushed I followed Gorion’s instructions and headed for “The Friendly Arms Inn.” There I was accosted by yet another assassin. He however was no problem to me.
I then went in search of and found Joia’s ring and helped a child priestess against some fishermen. Nearby I came across an Ankheg which i killed
and then headed for High Hedge where I was accosted by gnolls. Carrying on further south I came across a chicken which needed help. Upon helping it my reputation increased which made the sacrifice of my time worthwhile.
In Beregost I calmed down Marl and killed both Karlat and Silke before searching a little further afield. I found and delivered a letter addressed to Mirianne and killed an ogre who had no fewer than two belts.
At the temple I used gold to raise my reputation and then killed Algernon due to the fact that he had a cloak that I wanted.
I then gave yet more gold to the temple before heading south to Nashkel. At the carnival I gained the ability to heal and after that killed a hostile mage with the help of his proposed victim.
and an ogre called Oompah. The mage hurt me and I had to rest for some time.
In Nashkel itself, I met Oublek who mistook me for Greybeard. I put him right and managed to curb my impatience with Noober. Further south I killed the dreaded Greybeard and after the death of Prism took the emeralds to Oublek. The reward was not great, but I regained the emeralds and some gold when I charmed him into fighting a baby wyvern that was chasing a boy.
I then had a bit of bother with the boy’s father, but it was all sorted out in the end. Heading northwards I cleared the road to Beregost and some of the land to the side.
Upon reaching Beregost I had an altercation with Silke.
and followed that up by killing an ogre with a belt fetish.
I took a fancy to Algernon's cloak so acquired it at no cost other than reputation.
Now I have been asked to kill Bassilus and off my own bat I helped the Dudley family. It is amazing how little you have to do to be a hero in these parts.
Good luck Wise - that's one of my favourite portraits, really ought to dig it out again for my Blackguard runs.
Jerov, Minsc, Imoen, Neera and Dynaheir continue after Minsc has healed up. Dynaheir uses stinking cloud (x2) > fireball (x3) to soften up Drasus and Genthore as their mages frazzle behind them. Hareishan and her guards get web (x2) and fireball (x3) before Minsc wades in freely to finish things off. Natasha takes a venomous strike and is rushed into defeat while Minsc out-berserks an ogre mage jailor and any remaining hobgoblins.
Imoen clears 4 traps near Davaeorn but cannot detect a fifth. She fails to lay two snares so waits as Jerov hits a mirror image and fails to poison Davaeorn. He just catches part of a lightning bolt and glugs 2 healing potions as the bolt finishes off a skeleton (I'm used to them being immune in BGT). A bit of hide and seek follows before Jerov distracts Davaeorn while Minsc attacks from the rear. Neera and Dynaheir try magic missiles but then a secret weapon is deployed. Yeslick fires in a dispel magic special ability and the enemy mage is stripped of his defences. No time for him to re-buff before an arrow from Imoen takes his life.
With the mine flooded Jerov heads into the city, grabbing a tome of dexterity and the Helm of Balduran.
Good luck Wise - that's one of my favourite portraits, really ought to dig it out again for my Blackguard runs.
In general I play good guys, but am curious to know how to play a bad party. I currently have Xzar, Tiax, Jaheira and Khaled in the party. Was going to kick out the last two, but the conflict between Jaheira and Xzar is too good to miss. Perhaps I'll just kick out Khaled and get Shar Teel in the party. If I do another installation, I will maybe use Level 1 NPCs to make Shar Teel a Blackguard.
EDIT
Getting Shar Teel in the party didn't work. She walked off presumably bacause of my high reputation, but I had this installed:
~SETUP LOSTITEMSV1.TP2~ #0 #5 // NPCs don't leave due to reputation
Don't understand. ![]()
Fortunately she didn't have much inn the way of equipment at the time. (Nothing irreplaceable)
Gate70/Grond0 multiplayer attempt 50 - (update 1)
Lucent, dwarf kensai (Grond0) & Fendor, half-orc Priest of Lathander (Gate70)
For our latest attempt we stuck with the usual randomly generated character classes. I thought we should make a special effort to succeed as this is our 50th attempt, so I made my kensai a dwarf to give him good saving throws. Gate70 fancied something with a bit more muscle, so rolled up a half-orc.
An initial session was pretty short, but productive. As usual Shoal provided a level each and almost got Fendor up to level 3 - he quickly used his hold undead ability on a nearby ghoul to get that step up. A few tasks were done in Beregost before continuing on to Nashkel to get some decent armour for Fendor. Then we moved on to the basilisk area, although that caused the only moment of concern in the session when we ran into a basilisk ambush. However, despite not reaching instantly we were still both able to get out of sight range before the basilisk focused its gaze. Fendor then meleed the basilisks while Lucent provided pretty vicious ranged support with his throwing axes. Mutamin was silenced, as were Kirian's group, making the first use of skeletons a bit superfluous.
Moving on to the lighthouse area the skeletons proved their worth again - both in resisting sirine charms and sacrificing themselves to allow the big hitters into melee range of the golems.
The final action was a trawl through the Cloudpeaks ending up with successfully saving Melicamp - taking reputation within one of the maximum.
Stats:
Lucent, kensai 6, 69 HPs, 96 kills
Fendor, priest of Lathander 6, 36 HPs, 39 kills, 0 deaths
The long term aim was to develop Fendor to allow him to tank in most situations while Lucent threw missiles. Thus far Fendor's HP rolls have been rather low. That, together with his susceptibility to magic attacks, may require some adjustment to that strategy.
Looks like I forgot to add an update. Jalantha Mistmyr looks to have landed a flamestrike on Jerov before succumbing to her wounds, and Marek has somehow also poisoned him. A brief session sees Marek killed before he can do any further harm and Minsc borrows the Cloak of Balduran from Quenash.

Afaik, they won't leave if you get them to join in the first place. ![]()
