Jerov makes a bit more progress, expending the Brawlers of Undermountain, doppelgangers inside the Seven Suns and Merchants League, Sunin and his bodyguards then Ramazith and his tower. Durlags Tower is left mostly alone, apart from a tome of wisdom.

Afaik, they won't leave if  you get them to join in the first place. :P

That is what happens with Xzar and Montaron, but both Shar Teel and Jaheira have left for differing reasons.

Jaheira because of BG1 NPC project, nothing to do with reputation.

Shar Teel, don't know why. It was actually in another area, but she hadn't been in the party long. She would probably have left immediately if I hadn't quit the area.

Jerov is keen to move on but Minsc and Boo want to test the BG:EE beta more comprehensively. After some quests around the city (Petrine, Brielbara, Desreta and Vay-va, Narlen Darkwalk, housed ogre mages, dying sirine, basilisk in the warehouse, Jardak and butler, Alatos and the Skyship) Dynaheir suggests a break in the countryside (zombie infestation, Laurel and the gibberlings, the fat happy ogre, Neville and his bandits, Jared and THE BEAR, Arcand the Mad, The Surgeon, unexplored caves near the Gnoll Fortress, the Idol and the Doomsayer). Jerov believes it is time to continue with his plans but Minsc says Boo says no...

Gate70/Grond0 multiplayer attempt 50 - (2nd and final update)
Lucent, dwarf kensai (Grond0) & Fendor, half-orc Priest of Lathander (Gate70)

In between making progress with Jerov Gate70 found time to help this duo complete the first stage of their trilogy attempt.

In the main, progress was pretty comfortable.  They started the session by travelling up to Ulgoth's Beard for some shopping before completing their high-value tour of wilderness encounters.  Fendor became feared by opponents for his SS tactics - silence + skeletons being devastating for most enemies.  Variants of that approach accounted for Meilum, Kahrk, Greywolf,  Mulahey, amazons and Nimbul with no trouble, though Fendor did have to save against a gaze attack when ambushed by a basilisk for the second time in the run near Firewine Bridge.

Tranzig managed to save against silence and put up a bit of a fight before succumbing.  After a bit of brute force cleared the exterior of the bandit camp it was back to SS for Venkt & co.  After progressing through the Cloakwood Drasus and his colleagues were all shut up - and shut down.  Hareishan was a bit harder and eventually fell victim to her own guards when she caught some of them in a scorcher as Fendor retreated.  Daveorn found it hard to deal with attackers protected against lightning and died before he could use any alternative spells.

In the city the duo picked up the tomes, along with the Helm and Cloak of Balduran.  They also had no problems mauling the Mountain Maulers, despite Fendor inadvertently catching himself as well as enemies in his silence.  The Iron Throne casters were all silenced, but Zhalimar was not: to stop him shooting Lucent tanked him - taking a fair amount of damage before withdrawing from his body to finish things off with throwing axes.

The return to Candlekeep proved an unhappy one for Fendor.  After looting the tombs with a green scroll and giant strength the duo quickly moved on to confront Prat while magic protection persisted.  Prat saved against 2 silences, which meant Fendor planned to target him while Lucent dealt with Bor after equipping a ring of free action.  Regrettably there was a lack of communication between the pair and Fendor showed himself before Lucent - being attacked by Bor and stunned as a result.  He then died very rapidly - before Lucent could use a green scroll of magic protection on him to free him.  Even alone he had no problem finishing off the enemies, though he did have to leave a lot of equipment behind in order to carry Fendor's body out of the catacombs.

Back in Baldur's Gate Slythe was pulled out and meleed by Fendor and some skeletons.  More skeletons and some buffs were used in an assault on the palace, though that didn't quite go to plan - Lucent found it hard to navigate around some jumping skeletons and Liia died and Belt took an uncomfortable amount of damage before his attackers were killed.

After meleeing their way through the maze and using skeletons to persuade Shaldrissa to cloudkill the Undercity party (and Rahvin to hit them with exploding arrows) Sarevok was the final challenge.  He was pulled out alone by a wand magic missile into a group of summons and Fendor kept refreshing those long enough to get Sarevok to badly wounded.  He then buffed up and attacked before retreating to heal.  After attacking again though Sarevok recognised he was beaten.

Stats:

Lucent, kensai 8, 90 HPs, 262 kills

Fendor, priest of Lathander 8, 45 HPs, 137 kills, 1 death

Congratulations, Grond0/Gate70! Just so you know, I'm on another game right now, but when that finishes will start another run. Thinking of doing a human thief dualed to mage at around level 7 or so...

And Dogdancing and I will see you two tomorrow morning, as usual...

Am thinking of playing a meglamaniac chaotic evil fighter/cleric follower of Cyric. Personality similar to Tiax. Wondering whether or not to give him "Summon Ghast" as per Tiax. Would that make him too powerful?

Your decision but imo Tiax is locked away until you can get into the city for a good reason in the standard game. With mods etc. it could easily be viewed differently.

Jerov tries to remember who has been dealt with today and who was already dead from previous encounters. Bassilus? A revenant? Narcillus Harwilliger N, his two jellies and a group of ogres which punched Neera's lights out (yes, temple visit was today)? The fishermen and the priestess (including 7 ankhegs which surrounded Minsc and Jerov to make a real battle out of it)? Baruk? The trio of hobgoblins near the putrifying corpse of Bassilus? Morvin and his mercenaries? Firewine Ruins including Lendal / an ogre mage / Jenkal? Ulcaster Ruins? Ichyarid the dead-again skeletal warrior? Fahrington (still alive despite his cursed scroll)? The group of red robed posturing freaks? Osmadi and a deceitful shadow druid?

Checked out the forging of ankheg armour (paying 50% extra, 6000gp, to get it made quickly only to leave it there for the best part of a week). Fortified ogres for Bjornin? Teyngan, Jemby and Zekar? Drizzt (bugged as Neera surged a charm and one gnoll was killed while friendly so Drizzt refused to acknowledge the job was done)? Landrin and her spider problem? Sarhedra and some ogres? An ettercap in a trapped cave? Ioin Gallchobhair, Billy and Dribben? Yep, all today,

Jerov is receiving regular kickings as his monk speed and boots of speed are seeing him in fights for a round or two before the rest of the party arrive. Common sense dictates Minsc should have the boots but Jerov prefers to see the ranger wearing boots of avoidance and arriving as a heavyweight reinforcement rather than being hacked to pieces.

Off to Durlags Tower, where all goes well until the ghost to Daitel is encountered. Minsc and Neera remain unaffected while everybody else is in a state of confusion.

Neera tries a dispel - immolating everybody instead as her spell surges.

Minsc wants her to stop but she gambles on a Dweomer. Uh-oh, a demon in a confined space with most of the party already incapacitated or injured. Result!

Baldr042.jpg

Minsc immediately wades in as Neera tries to malison this new threat but her spell is blocked and Jerov is death-gazed. Imoen has the arrows of dispelling and only bow, while Yeslick has the only remaining dispel ability and both are still uncontrollable. Jerov by this time is confused, held and dying.

Baldr045.jpg

Minsc fights on, wounding the nabassu but it has killed off Dynaheir and proceeds to do the same to Jerov with 3 attacks sufficient to do the job.

Epic stuff.

Sorry to hear about Jerov's demise. Were you intending a "complete" BG1 run? I usually avoid the ghost alltoghether...

My Queen, Malcanthet led me directly to my replacement for Shar-Teel.  There was that woman who was petrified just a few yards from where I was I’ve been camping @ Nashkel Carnival. She was still there so I had Viconia cast a Stone to Flesh Scroll on her & she was flesh.  She turned out to be a Warrior Priestess of Tempus & she appears utterly fearless. With her ability to compliment Viconias’ spells I now have a one-two divine punch coming from two deities w/different aims. Viconia, though weak, can wade into melee when I need extra an extra weapon arm & I’ve little doubt Branwen can do the same. I sense no conflict between Malcanthet & either Shar or Tempus as they are deities & she is more concerned w/the political intrigues she is constantly concerned w/in the Abyss. As long as I stay focused on killing the servants of Yeenoghu & his vassal, Dorsain, King of the Ghouls, @ least for now.  I bought Branwen a Morning Star +1 from the enchanted weapons merchant, a suit of Plate Mail & a helm.  I redistributed our PoH & Antidotes so that she & Kagain would have five each & two Antidotes. Safana & Viconia got four & two, Quayle three & two based on their expected exposure to front line melee.

With Shar-Teel gone Viconia is more receptive to my advances to join her in her bedroll &I think Branwen might fill Shar-Teels’ role also.  After all, I serve the Demon Queen of Succubi who lives in a paradise of hedonism.

DARNED DROW THREATENED TO POISON ME IF i DIN'T PLEASE HER!

Returning to Durlag’s Tower, I led us back past the usual three Doppelganger’s & Branwen jumped right up into the melee like a warrior, exactly what I need.  She took a few whacks so after we killed them I ordered a rest to allow her time to heal & to recapture both my Clerics’ Command Spells.  Following that, I led us up  to the third layer up in the donjon where after looking through a library I sent Safana down a down a hall that was directly in front of us when we came up the stairs. She was gone just a few moments when she came back through whispering, “Ghost, ghost.” Quayle used a Scroll of Monster Summoning I & sent a rapid dog down the passageway & I could hear the sounds of an angry dog in a fight. Suddenly, the ghost was in our midst. I’d read about Ghosts in Candlekeep but this one didn’t exactly fit the mold. Quayle used a Scroll of Dispel Magic, Viconia cast Miscast Magic & Branwen cast, Doom I think. Somewhere in there, either Branwen or Viconia cast Silence 15’ Radius which becomes obvious pretty quickly in the heat of battle.  I cast Chaos on myself & was able to hit him w/Spiders Bane while his attempts to cast spells against us were harmless. Eventually Safana, seeing that I was hitting him, came over to try & Back-stab him but in the heat of things, I don’t know if she was successful.  He died pretty easily.

On that same floor, my party was looting some chests when a rogue tried to push us out of his territory. Safana refused on my behalf, slipped out of the way & Kagain called for help as he’d been acting as her bodyguard as she scouted ahead of the main body of my party. The dude took some pretty good hits before he succumbed to my overwhelming power so he was likely a high-level rogue of some sort.

aa2156d1cfe6dfe094fd9331dbb540.jpg
MY FIRST GHOST KILL

Key Event: On the uppermost floor, I found & killed five Ghasts down some tunnels. I couldn’t do my usual quartering & burning of their bodies as a full sacrifice to my Queen but they were quartered & piled in a heap, then I offered them to Malcanthet as a sacrifice to her glory & the expansion of her dominion in the abyss. As I headed back into the main central room, I was approached by Succubus whose initial offer sounded promising but then it became far more & something I was not going to fall into.  I admit I was confused knowing that my Queen is the Queen of the Succubi. Why would a Succubus attack me, when it was Succubus who first drew me toward my Queen way back when I had my dream encounters in Candlekeep. I think this Succubus was trapped here by a powerful magic so maybe it was out of desperation she attacked, b/c had she gotten entrapped in that way, she would certainly be in disfavor w/my Queen for allowing such an indignity to herself & indirectly to my Queen.  Whatever the case, this Succubus wanted to entrap me here & that just didn’t register as something my Queen had destined for me, so I had my subordinates attack. I can’t remember now if it was against the Ghost that I cast Chaos but now it seems it was in this battle. At any rate, I waded in w/Spiders Bane & attacked hitting her when I could get @ her b/c she teleported around the room @ least four times. Kagain became enraged & went after her w/his Battle Axe +1 & Warhammer +2 swingin’ for a kill.  When she would teleport, he’d grab his Throwing Axe +2 & fire it @ her across the room until he could get close to her again. My clerics stayed back, trying to break her down w/various spells: Doom, Dispel Magic, etc. I was finally able to corner her & kill her.

I wondered what has become of her. Just as we were exiting the room, her corpse exploded in into tiny, 1-inch duplicates of the Succubus & started fighting amongst each other. We watched until only one was left. That one then vanished in a puff of smoke. I know that normally, when a demon is killed outside of the abyss, its essence returns to the abyss where it returns to raw chaos & reforms as a new demon, usually demoted to a Dretch or a Manes or the like. Only a demon lord can intervene to save the disgraced demon from punishment.   With that, we headed toward the Carnival for a rest & to unload & identify loot.

A SUCCUBUS ATTACKS ME WHEN MY QUEEN IS HER QUEEN?

0ef90905a2073152b84d0df7e50750.jpg
THE SUCCUBUS CARCASS EXPLODED INTO HUNDRED OF ONE INCH REPLICAS OF HERSELF, FOUGHT EACH OTHER TO THE DEATH UNTIL THE ONE REMAINING VANISHED IS A PUFF OF SMOKE. WEIRD.

After selling most of my booty & spending a few hours resting @ the Nashkel Carnival, I headed to The Temple of Helm in town & Nalin was able to identify a Manual of Gainful Exercise. Still I wanted to have someone look @ an amulet we found & tell me what, if anything, a lock of succubus hair was worth – it was separated from her head when I killed her & I picked it up off the floor. I went to Thalantyr & he nailed them both – I got 250 gold for the hair & the amulet was a Greenstone Amulet.

That night I stayed in the Red Sheaf before leading us back to Durlag’s Tower. I had a dream:

My Queen Malcanthet came to me & informed me that

The Succubus I killed had given her loyalty to Shami-Amourai

A minor Demon-Lord who desires the title of Queen of the Succubi

The Succubus was left to the results of her own entrapment because Shami-Amourae

lacked to desire, or the power, to release her minion

But had she killed me, Malcanthets Champion in Faerun

Shami-Amourae would certainly have made every effort to release the bound Succubus

& reward her for killing me!

Instead, said my Queen, I have humiliated the potential usurper & for that, Malcanthet  was pleased!

Back in business :D

001_zpse69cdf73.jpg

Kit itself, slightly revised from current Kit Revisions beta

002_zps8ac6d6f6.jpg

In essence, he can go berserk a la Minsc when hit. Kind of suicidal, but it only lasts for 3 seconds.

Weidu:

Spoiler

And to game!

First few levels are to be soloed. Level 2 was gained after dispatching 2 ogres just south of Beregost. (+10 HP)

003_zps2d109b49.jpg

Picked up Viccy and Kagain.

004_zps01959666.jpg

005_zpse4766522.jpg

Level 3 - some creeps around Beregost, +11 HP.

Level 4, clearing Ankheg farm, +8 HP.

006_zps30d99832.jpg

We had some minor problems there, but we prevailed victorius.

007_zpsec431d97.jpg

009_zps560af37c.jpg

Did Tenya's quest for waterbowl and killed Dushai for Free Action ring.

010_zpsc34b8e98.jpg

011_zpsda7e6bce.jpg

...sacrificed Kivan to kill both Shoal and Ogre mage...

012_zps030ddbf9.jpg

And level 5 was gained after killing some rogue Half-Ogres for a +1 2-handed sword which Ayax uses (+11 HP).

013_zps973d571a.jpg

Next we do some minor stuff around the map:

016_zpse73e71d1.jpg

017_zps1f1d6d8b.jpg

To get level 6 (+9 HP).

And take in Edwin. With him, we pay a short visit to Durlag's to grab 2 kills on Battle Horrors.

018_zpse667e783.jpg

...kill Bassiluss. He used Blade Barrier, so melee was sub-optimal to say the least.

019_zpse1aa26bf.jpg

Mutamin was rather a close call, dispeling our Pro Petrification. Mirrored Eyes potions were ready for that.

020_zps53305cb1.jpg

We got rid of basilisks first...

021_zps6512625c.jpg

And then Muta himself.

Ayax, 2nd update

Continuing where we left off, Kirian's gang was slain.

023_zps336ed587.jpg

Morvin&Molkar

024_zps0317fcfa.jpg

Back to Durlag's. We don't have a thief, so we can't exactly delve in deep. First level is ours for taking, however. Level 7 gained (+15 HP! yeah!)

025_zps0420ae41.jpg

We only ended up grabbing Wand of Monster summoning from there, and some potions.

A second wand of Fire was aquired in Ulcaster ruins.

026_zpsa866bd27.jpg

So it was time to clear of Nashkel mines. Edwin's pre-set Skull Trap disposed of any skeleton-kobold interferance

027_zps37b97932.jpg

While Ayax killed Mulahey.

028_zps1e1fac08.jpg

With Haste, amazons were destroyed in 2 rounds.

029_zpse8ed47cc.jpg

Bandit camp

I use Spellpack's version of Malison. This spell increases damage done (either by spell or weapon) by 2 points per die, regardless of the saving throw.  Malison:

030_zpse57f4ee9.jpg

Result:

031_zpsec72d113.jpg

The end was nigh.

032_zpsc5da0fa8.jpg

We help Aldeth against some druids, nice exp there.

033_zpsd52edba5.jpg

SCS druids apperantly have Hold Person. Meh.

035_zps33d61191.jpg

With the help from Viccy's skeletons, we clear out the mines entrance.

039_zpsea3d7b71.jpg

...learn that triggering a lightning trap isn't always bad...

040_zpsd2452270.jpg

....and go to fight Davaeorn. Ayax is under a Pro Magic scroll.

Horrors go down first.

041_zps84c0ff10.jpg

Few rounds later, Kagain has disposed of about 15 guards...

043_zps54c2994c.jpg

But Davaeorn escapes! Yup, the bastard got to the elevator and left!

042_zps9644d003.jpg

We follow him upstairs

044_zps03c8d241.jpg

...short battle follows..

045_zps4825eb29.jpg

Davaeorn looses.

046_zps98a83cc5.jpg

Apperantly, his death caused an odd bug - BG gate was closed. Fixed by CLUA.

047_zps49fd79c6.jpg

In BG, we do minor stuff round the town first. Ogre Strenght Gauntlets are mandatory for Kagain

048_zps6d35373c.jpg

We kill the priests, without bothering with their quests..

049_zpsacd8a7c4.jpg

050_zpsabb6dda8.jpg

Iron Throne

Invisible, we wade in the tower; and say hello, just to go to the opposite side of the area.

051_zps837b3c78.jpg

Note that all enemies start of neutral, apart 2 hidden assassins. Viconia's skeletons were used as backstab baits.

052_zps4d57141d.jpg

Cloudkill+Web - oldie but goldie.

053_zps753ff79b.jpg

Whoever dares to poke his head out of the poisonous cloud, dies.

054_zpsc3a346ce.jpg

Once cloud(s) disperse, we mop up.

Ayax, 3rd and final BG1 update

After dispatching the Throne gang, we return to Candlekeep, (Prat is very easy in this SCS version, and deserves no special mention), then back to BG.

Krystin and Slythe - Pro Magic sroll was used, Slythe was killed and then we left after picking up the invitations - much better than wasting resources on Krystin.

057_zpsc1760564.jpg

Dopes were also swiflty slain. Go Belt!

058_zps94c1cce1.jpg

I tought Lia would survive, but just as Sarevok DDoored away, slap, she's dead. That's good actually, she has a Ring of Invisibility on her body. :D

059_zps21a269d2.jpg

After wading through the Maze (tiresome w/o a thief, and I had to buy an addtional Pro Magic scroll from Sundries), we rest, go invisible to avoid the pre-ultimate fight with Iron Throne leftovers, and go to tackle Sarevok.

After some time lurking about, Angelo was seperated from the rest of the group.

060_zps35a023a6.jpg

Edwin almost died there

061_zps80eceb86.jpg

But Angelo wasn't as lucky.

062_zps4cf2ea53.jpg

Now we send summons to have Semaj waste his spells.

063_zps53c7b754.jpg

They don't really last long, but any Magic missile wasted on them is a magic missile Kagain and Ajax won't eat.

064_zps32db24c7.jpg

Summons did their job, and now it's time to go whacking. Ajax and Kagain buff up.

065_zpscbfa0672.jpg

Initial charge destroys Diramid. He's magic-immune, and must die quickly.

066_zps2c06e44e.jpg

Viccy dominates Semaj. :D  :D  :D

067_zps310029e3.jpg

Tazok's next to die.

068_zpsc6cca18a.jpg

Semaj had an interesting spellbook. One of the spells was MS3, which summons Ogre Mages at his level. :P Naturally, that's perfect now.

069_zps6fd55247.jpg

We blast away from distance, while poor Sarevok struggels agains Ogres who have a ton of HP and are mirror imaged.

070_zps937c4ac8.jpg

He won't die until Semaj dies, however. So that's what we do.

071_zps5130c91a.jpg

This was the last blow. An Ogre Mage got him.

072_zps2ff86b39.jpg

Ajax will be entering the BG2 part soon.

He wasn't scared. He just dissapeared through the exit...

(& if that is your kit the description should have "losing" rather than "loosing")

Thnx. Yup, my own making.

@Aasim - grats on your successful run!

Breen the human thief (for now) entering Trilogy no-reload challenge....

Well my Dragon Age: Origins game is finished and thus I am back in the saddle, I am ready to do another no-reload. This go around the concept is a human thief dualed to mage. He will be a bad thief, except he will be at hiding...maybe he can stay out of trouble if enemies can't see him. At the moment thinking at dualing around level 7. He could do backstabs now and then, but primarily will be for defense. Guess he will use it to scout as needed too...

Setup:

Vanilla BG 1

Core rules at all times, including level ups and spell scribes.

"gore" on (characters can be chunked)

Tales of the Sword Coast and official patch

No mods

Breen:

So far Breen and Imoen have defeated the two ogrillions just south of Beregost with the help of a speed potion - the turn in to Merriane got Breen to level 2. Then Breen and Imoen made it to the northern edge of the FAI area. Intent to be a 5 man party - Ajantis, Kivan, Branwen and Imoen. Imoen will dual probably at level 6.

Breen the Human thief - update 2

Traveling with: Ajantis, Kivan, Branwen, Imoen

So Breen has finished recruiting and has started to adventure. Once the entire party was formed, our first goal was to get DEX gauntlets for Ajantis. First though, we retrieved a "dog" for a "boy". We got seen by Sendai, and instead of dying (we were mostly level 1/2 at that point), we sent her on her way. We also beat up Krumm and Caldos. There were not a match. A few more dire wolves and xvarts and returned a dead cat to its owner, a little girl.

Finally we reach the Gnoll Fortress. Branwen and Ajantis tanked great here, the party taking only a little damage. Some much needed blue potions were found, and a tome that Ajantis eventually used. We also defeated a carrion crawler, mostly by ranged fire. Which reminds me, we got ambushed by a mountain bear, but ranged fire also took it down just a moment before it was in melee range.

By the time we exit, we are full - so we head to Beregost Temple to identify Ajantis tome as well as put our scrolls in a Barrel in Beregost, to be used later. The smithy was closed, so we used the opportunity to swipe a +1 bastard sword for Ajantis. After selling and resting we also dealt with Karlat, who didn't survive long as well, though Branwen's command had something to do with that...

We then get the shield amulet for Breen. In my install, it doesn't protect against magic missiles. But it would help Breen if we got the dreaded 12 bandit archer ambush, hence the purchase. While we were at the Carnival, the mad mage was taken out - Branwen took a lot hurt but she didn't die. We take out those 4 ogrillions for Bjornin, shield went to Branwen, putting her AC to -3.

Next, we killed the spiders in Landarn's house and returned her stuff to her at the FAI. We also obtained Joia's ring for her easily enough. We ran out of time, right about here and ended our session. Team is all level 3.

It's nice having 3 bowmen in the group. Fun group so far.

Mel{3} - half-elf archer (update 1)

Taking a break from documenting Alac's test run, I had a quick stab at Mel again yesterday.  An hour's play took her to level 7 and she was about to start the main quest when I decided to reduce her reputation.  It was 10 at the time and needed to go up to 11 before she could kill an innocent without falling.  I checked the cost of donating at a temple and then went to kill Bentan - only to find that I had forgotten to actually pay the temple!  Mel{2} was retired at that point.  Her HP rolls had been miserable, so perhaps I was sub-consciously keen to get rid of her.

Mel{3} has had an hour this morning to get up to a similar position after dealing with Shoal, basilisks, sirines & golems, temple wolf pack, Meilum and Greywolf among other encounters.  Her HPs are still significantly below average, although not as dire as the previous version.  So far that's not been an issue as she has not taken any damage (though she has been attacked in ambushes a few times), but will make progressing in BG2 a bit harder if she makes it that far.

Mel{3} - half-elf archer (update 2)

Mel is still going, though she's been on the verge of death twice today.

The first close call was when she opened the chest in the bandit tent.  A slight hesitation while she hid in the shadows again meant that the lightning trap managed to home in on her for a second lot of damage - I thought she would be able to survive that, but she only had 2 HPs in hand.

The second near-death experience was after she had successfully killed all but one of the ettercaps near the web traps in the Cloakwood.  I mis-clicked while moving at that point and Mel got spotted by one of the constantly respawning spiders at the same time that she was trapped by a web.  She was poisoned twice before managing to escape when down to 24 HPs.  Even with the weak venom of huge spiders I thought it might be touch and go for her, but in the end the poison ran out with her on 9 HPs - so she would just have survived even without using her 2 Bhaal LMDs.

After laboriously regaining her HPs (by using LMD on spiders in between resting) she sneaked through the remainder of the Cloakwood.  The mages at the mine died in a couple of fireballs, Genthore to run & shoot and Drasus to a vicious stealth shot.

Mel stealthed down to Daveorn before showing herself briefly to draw the battle horrors out of the way.  A potion of magic blocking allowed her to use +1 bolts to shoot the mage before wielding her sword for the first time to kill a nearby mustard jelly with stealth attacks.

She's just helped Joia and will do further reputation quests now before continuing on to the City.

Slightly different, but I have had Mulahey killed otside his den and I thought that it had broken the game, but returning to his den afterwards solved the problem. I would try returning to Davaeorn's den and see if that solves your problem as it seems very similar.

Trying a new game with an elven crusader now that my mods allow it. I will try a drow paladin some time I think. Crusaders don't have the protections of Cavaliers, so in my opinion are a bit harder.

Diary of Carsomyr the Elven Crusader

I don’t believe that I am the first Elven Paladin, but I think that I might well be the first elven crusader. Being a wood elf makes me quite well fitted for the life of a paladin, for though I have lost a little in the realm of my intelligence, this is more than compensated for by having a better constitution.

Gorion had been in the process of crafting a sword for me which would have been exceedingly powerful, but half-way through the process, it was stolen, so it will never be what he intended it to be. It was meant to be a +3 sword with 50% magical resistance, but because the crafting was interrupted, it ended up as a +1 sword with 30%. I know because I killed the thief and retrieved it. Maybe it’s as well that the crafting was interrupted. The result of the fight might have been different!

Str 18/90, Dex 19, Con 18, Int 9, Wis 13, Cha 17

Unfortunately most of his equipment was useless. He had good armour, but I am unable to wear it, and I was unable to sell it.

Gorion and I set off into the wide world.

Once we had left the safety of Candlekeep it was not long before we were attacked by yet more assassins, and sadly Gorion was killed. After arranging for his burial at Candlekeep.

I followed his instructions to go to the Friendly Arms Inn. I came across another would-be assassin, a mage by the name of Tarnesh. I panicked and ran away whilst Tarnesh fought the guards and killed two of them. Thinking that he had probably used up all his spells, I attacked as soon as I was able. I was wrong. He hit me with a magic missile and badly injured me. I thought of running but decided that fighting him was actually the safer option. It was. I managed to get in a good hit and he died. I then spent a few days recovering before moving off.

I decided that since the assassins seemed to know Gorion's plans, that it would be wise not to follow them, at least for the time being as it was more than possible that the freinds that I was supposed to meet were being watched. I therefore headed southwards to Beregost, killing an ogre on the way. He was carrying a belt that will help to protect me from missiles. In Beregost I met Marl who blamed adventurers on the death of his son. I managed to calm him down thankfully as things were beginning to look nasty.

I met up with Firebead again and bought a book for him. He was very pleased with that. Then heading southwards I met a Flaming Fist Mercenary. He was very belligerant with the result that i was forced to kill him. He was wearing excellent armour and I began to use it imediately. Wearing that armour made the battle I had with his cohorts later on much easier.

I also killed a couple of ogrillon and delivered a letter one of them was carrying.

At Nashkel carnival I gained an ability to heal, and after resting headed west. I helped find Rufie for a little boy, helped a dryad and returned a cat to its owner. Further west I found a tome in a cave inhabited by xvarts.

Heading northwards I rescued a man from a dangerous mountain bear and recieved some very nice boots as a reward. I killed another on my way to Nashkel to sell some pelts I had acquired. Whilst there another assassin attacked me and I had to spend some time resting to recover from my wounds.

I realised that the vow of poverty that I had taken was being severely compromised by the amount of gold that I had. I therefore bought a traveller's cloak and an amulet of mind protection. I now have less than 100 gold pieces and feel much more comfortable as a result.

Having bought the amulet, I headed for the Lighthouse area. There I battled 6 sirene, 2 Dread wolvesand 3 flesh golem. I spent a considerable time sleeping due to the injuries I recieved fighting the golem.

Heading south, I helped the archaeologist and Brage.

I have reached level 6 and thus have ** in two-handed weapons and **** in two handed swords. It is the ability to gain ***** in two handed swords that makes the crusader powerful. The limitation of * ikn other weapons however is a drawback once ***** is reached in two handed swords. Without that limitation, I would ten have chosen to be an expert in th use of axes, but will have to be content with just one *. In my previous post I forgot to mention that Melicamp recovered from his loss of form.

Entered the mines and they were no problem. The assassins were. Rigid thinking meant that I couldn't take a potion when poisoned. :( Killed two of them, but the poison eventually caused me to croa...

Realised afterwards that I should have used the greenstone amulet. :(

Now time for a drow paladin. Yet to decide which one.
