Thanks guys, I'm rusty so Puk needs the luck.
p.s. I notice the screenshots have gotten lighter in theses posts so how many screen per post is considered ok... is there a set limit?

I don't know exact value but there is indeed a limit of screens per post (I have experienced that once in the past and was forced to split my pictures-heavy post into two separate ones). Not sure if that is true for *links-to-pictures* though.
Thanks Serg... I own my own web server and will host all the screens myself with *links.
The old forum did have an issue with images slowing down the load times and if anyone (say on a dial up) feels put out I'll dial it back.
p.s. Puk just hit level 2 and Sarah is waiting for level 3 before changing to Druid so I'll post an update soon.

There's still a significant slowdown if large files are posted. That shouldn't be a problem with jpg format, but bmp are so much larger that a few of those can slow things down noticeably.
Tutu run update1.2,
Its been a month since we joined Jaheira and Khalid at the fai and the problems began. Khalid refused to leave the group without the misses and promptly got killed by the skirmishers outside so we travelled east and collected a cleric named Viconia despite her race dropping our heroic credibility.
The detour made Jaheira antsy about reaching Nashkel and (given the dead spouse) we cut her some slack… made a B line for it. Once we arrived she seemed to settle down so we explored a little to find a nice suit of armour made from some kind of animal shell and agreed to help an experienced Ranger named Minsc save his mage friend Dynaheir from a group of gnolls. We needed a magic user and he told us she was very powerful… the fact is we figured it would be a cake walk because this Ranger was way above us in power but despite easily killing a bounty hunter named wolf something Minsc then proceeded to get ripped apart by wild dogs.

Near disaster one;
For some reason we assumed the five of us could push on to the Gnoll Stronghold and almost committed suicidium by lightning bolt on the entrance bridge when Puk misjudged the angle.

Plan B time;
We needed someone whom could at least cast from wands so headed back to Beregost and collected a Bard named Garrick… Imoen levelled up during this battle and volunteered to dual into a mage for the group. We found a frost wand inside a tree stump and Sarah got given a +2 dagger from an admirer then Viconia showed us why Clerics are the best at nicking stuff, so we raided the Durlag's Tower next… mostly for the experience of killing battle horrors.

Near disaster two;
Killing horrors with a frost wand is simple enough but we must have got a little cocky because we made a simple mistake fighting the last Doppelganger guard and he killed both Jaheira and Sarah * before I dropped him and claimed the Tome of Understanding for Puk before getting them raised back up.

* My two tanks.

Back on track again;
We sold the remaining loot (such as it was) and purchased a necklace of missiles from the Nashkel Carnival and returned to Gnoll Stronghold too let Viconia get in touch with her inner pyromaniac… Sarah claimed the Tome of Leadership and Influence so she can dual to Druid next level and we kicked Jaheira to make room for Dynaheir in the party.

@USS Norway.
Nice to see you back doing a run.
Starting a new run with a halfling fighter/thief called Squeamish Macbeth the brother of Hamish. ![]()
Being squeamish he is going to try and complete BG1 without killing anyone, and causing the deaths of as few as possible. Also trying to minimise experience.
Therefore avoiding picking locks and killing. No doing of good turns. Str 17, Dex 19, Con 18, Int 18, Wis 15, Cha 3.
I did once with a different set-up do this and by a fluke, didn't even kill Sarevok. He was hit by a lightning bolt from a trap and an exploding arrow simultaneously. I don't know which killed him.
This game got as far as the FAI. Pickpocketted a knife and picked up a healing potion and a cure poison potion in Candlekeep. Picked up a diamond, a ring of ptotection +1, and another ring to the south of the FAI. Now on way southwards.
Put most of thieving proficiencies in pick-pocket as money should be no problem, not needing weapons.
A halfling that doesn't steel... is that even possible Wise?
p.s. good luck!
So, a pacifist play through? That's going to be weird. Just for fun, be sure to put a level 20 experience cap on your game as far as goes the Trilogy and also push the HLA's past that point. And your making sure to play this on Insane, right? ![]()
Didn't say that he wouldn't steal. Already pickpocketed a knife at candlekeep and a cloak in Beregost. The cloak is essential to progress as he inteends to use it to make friends instead of enemies. A true pacifist. Has been given a nice ring to make him cha 18.
Multi-Player No-Reload (Corey_Russell, Dogdancing)
This fairly new duo hadn't even made it as far as Nashkel - this was rectified this session. Tcos (protagonist) dual-wields long swords most of the time, while Zaxxon dual-wields axes. Spells are rarely cast, as Zaxxon usually wanders around in plate mail.
The duo has been in a ton of ambushes, but has weathered them well by concentrating their attacks on harder ones (like ogres). We went to Gnoll Fortress to get the gauntlets of dexterity (to sell), the CHA for Tcos, and the blue potions. We've go through a lot of potions with all our tanking. We've left Neira alone for the moment.
Both characters' weapons have broken a ton this run, getting magical weapons that don't break thus was a high priority. We got Tcos a magical long sword +1 early, but to get the other we needed to fight Neville the "fairest bandit in the West". Dogdancing was getting rummy and didn't charge with her sword, and so Zaxxon got hit and his blindness spell was interrupted - Zaxxon wasn't wearing armor since he was casting, dropped him to 1/2 life. Tcos finally charged, and the 2nd blindness worked - magical long sword +1 now in off-hand. Neville's hobgoblin friends were wiped out by a necklace of missiles charge.
Time to work on Zaxxon's weapons. Unfortunately, he can't get two magical axes until chapter 5. So he had to settle for buying the magical one at Feldeposte's. The duo were getting pretty low on blue potions, so restocked those as well as a few antidotes.
The duo rested and stood outside Jovial Juggler, ready for their next adventure next session.
Tcos (Dogdancing) - protagonist - Level 3 Fighter/Level 3 Thief, 30 HP, 87 kills, Silke
Zaxxon (Corey_Russell), Level 3 Fighter/Level 2 Illusionist, 24 HP, 72 kills, Mountain Bear
Tutu run update 1.3,
@ Tcos & Zaxxon killing all comers... how romantic ![]()
Part 1.
The great and powerful Dynaheir turned out to be less than her hype so we headed north and swapped her for an equally annoying paladin named Ajantis… at least he could fight and we needed a new front man because Sarah is Druid now.
Ajantis wasn't super keen but we won him over with the line "An evil Cleric named Bassilus needs smiting"… naturally the Paladin took the brunt of the damage and we even payed the 400 to raise him up afterwards.

Part 2.
With Imoen gone mage the party needed a new thief so we moved west again to a place called Mutamin's Garden and set Ajantis the task of convincing his replacement to join us. Shar-teel agreed to join and took the dual to thieving in stride… will build up her locks skill first and borrowed Imoens' bow until they both get their other class back.
Since we were in the area we took on Kirian, Lindin, Baerin and Peter with pretty standard lightning and druid tactics… it didn't all go our way but the end result still gave us a healthy stock of magic items to trade and we are hearing rumours of a merchant in Beregost whom apparently has an interesting cloak for sail?

Squeamish pickpotted Algernon's cloak and used it to charm a hobgoblin who was then pickpocketted for his boots.
He then left the area before the hobgoblin got killed. Squeamish was badly hurt by arrows but survived. No deaths. ![]()
Squeamish Macbeth has completed the Nashkel Mines. Only one person has died so far in the game and that is Mulahey. Because in the past I have not been able to get his symbol, this time I charmed him and pickpocketted him. The two of us then began to exit his lair whereupon he was attacked by kobolds, but they were not injuring him. I left him in his lair and was immediately met by some kobold commandoes who did injure him. I hid whilst they killed him. ![]()
In Beregost I charmed Niera and pickpocketted some boots. North of Beregost, I charmed an ogre and pickpocketted a couple of belts and a ring.
Experience so far 75 from disabling traps.
Squeamish raided the bandit camp. Tried to charm Tazok but it was impossible. Therefore used stealth and oil of speed in the tent to get the documents and as much loot as was lying around.
Experience now 85.
Edit.
Realised that as a level 1 thief, Squeamish was going to need some potions, so went to Durlag's Tower.
Then went to the Cloakwood mines and avoided conflict.
Charmed Daveorn who tried to take on a mustartd jelly. The jelly won. ![]()
Now at Baldur's Gate with experience of 171. Only deaths Mulahey and Daveorn.
Sorry experience is 342. It is 171 in each class. All experiences up to this point should be twice what I have said. ![]()
Sounds like good progress Wise. I'll look forward to hearing about Sarevok being killed by his companions.
Squeamish got through Candlekeep without fighting. IN BG he got a useful shield by pickpocketting a child.
Naughty halfling!!
He has also picked a few tomes. Current experience 632. There were a few traps that even with potion of perception and of master thievery, he was unable to locate. This meant that he got hurt badly and had to use potions of healing.
If I'd remembered what types of traps they were, he could possibly have been protected from them.
Edit.
Rescued the duke, so now a level 2 thief.
I am wondering if it is necessary to rescue the duke.
Slythe got killed by cloudkill along with four others.
Despite buffing got killed at the ducal palace.
Squeamish had switched to fists due to the danger of killing one of the doppelgangers. I think it was a critical hit.
![]()
I think that I might try it again with a different character. A magic user might work better if I can get one that far.
@Wise: Sounds like you used the wrong potion. Potion of thievery doesn't help with traps. Instead you wanted to use potion of mind focusing. The extra DEX would have increased your trap scores. (all your other thief ability scores too).
Also, as far as rescuing the duke goes - you do NOT need to do this to beat the game, despite it being mentioned everywhere.
Gate70/Grond0 multiplayer attempt 53 - (update 1)
Praes, halfling priest of Talos (Grond0) & Dally, gnome illusionist (Gate70)
After the unfortunate end to MP52 we dusted ourselves down and rolled up a new game. We decided this should be based on BGEE - that's the first time since MP37, so there have been a couple of updates since then.
There was nearly an unfortunate accident in Candlekeep when Dally tried to cast a spell on Shank, only to be interrupted. He only had fists equipped at the time so Shank had +4 to hit and damage, leaving Dally with just a single HP as he ran across Candlekeep seeking a bit of help.
After that things settled down with a level each being obtained by blinding Shoal. There were various tasks in Beregost before moving north to get the Ring of Wizardry from the FAI. On the way Praes ran the ogre round while Dally threw daggers at it - in BGT that's simple, but BGEE appears to have given ogres a considerably faster movement as well as some other things (like bears and wolves) and Praes found he had no margin at all for movement errors (so different tactics will be needed in future).
At the FAI Joia got her ring back and Tarnesh was silenced before being disposed of. A quick trip down to Nashkel ended in a long conversation with Noober before we saved.
Stats:
Praes, priest of Talos 3, 24 HPs, 13 kills
Dally, illusionist 2, 12 HPs, 6 kills, 0 deaths

Thanks for the help.
Do I take it that if I have the letters from the Iron Throne top floor, that I don't need Sarevok's Diary?
Indeed. You don't even need the letters if you've talked to Thaldorn and found out what's going on.
To solve chapter 7 (minimum)
1) Kill Slythe, take the invitation and documents from his body
2) Present invitations twice to flaming fist
3) Save at least one Duke
4) Present documents that implicate Sarevok
Then you are after Sarevok. Nothing else is required, despite all the dialog that talks about Tamako, Iron Throne building and the sick Duke Eltan. You don't have to be arrested either, you can do all of this via Sewers. You can also travel from blushing mermaid to the Palace without being arrested.

This is exaclty how I usually do it. I only save Duke (invisibility helps not to get arrested). I kind of like him.
I have never presented the documents and invitation to the Flaming Fist, yet I have won the game numerous times.
.
Presenting the documents refers to the dialogue raised by Duke Belt (or Liia) after all the dopplegangers are killed at the palace. If you simply accuse Sarevok without referring to the documents you have to support your story you will be immediately executed (as happened in one of our recent MP runs)
.
