Sounds strange.  You could try searching for baldr in windows explorer to see what folders have screenshots in ...

New character.

Baldr000.jpg

With help from guards killed Tarnesh.

Baldr001.jpg

I decided to restart without using the subrace mod. Due to it being reasonably balanced, it shouldn't have much effect except at the beginning.

Baldr000a.jpg

Retraced my steps with much the same result except that when fighting Tarnesh I couldn't use blindness. This meant that he cast horror on me and then magic missile.

Baldr001-1.jpg

I was by then out of sight so he switched his attention to a guard that he killed. I came back into view. Another magic missile. Went out of view. He attacked another guard. Horror wore off. I used a potion of healing and attacked. Another magic missile hit me. Another potion of healing after which I killed Tarnesh.

Then helpeed Joia, a wdow north of the FAI, a child priestess against some evil fishermen. This brought me to level 3 and ***** in quarterstaffs. I am saving a copy there as after trying it as a fighter/mage, I would like to try it as a fighter/cleric.

It is obvious that I am now being hunted by the FF & Bounty Hunters for the ‘murder’ of Rielter & the Iron Throne leaders @ Candlekeep. I’ve heard it said that no good deed goes unpunished but it certainly felt like the right thing to do & I certainly didn’t want to face them again later, when I could eliminate them there & then. I’m going to head south toward Amn where the FF reach is not as nearly as prevalent as it is from Beregost north. I’ll keep my ear to the ground as I move north in case something changes but for now, I’m a fugitive from the same FF that I’ve helped against the Seven Suns & the Iron Thrown & uncovering the mysterious disappearances in E BG. I’ll begin my adventuring in The Valley of the Tombs, the same place we emerged when we came up from the Nashkel Mines. Early on we eliminated a group of Gnolls & War Dogs, four each before coming upon…

Key Event:  four female amazon assassin’s. I deduce that they were warriors/clerics/assassins as there were spells being cast at us, Longbows, at least one was wearing splint mail & the others leather armor (one enchanted studded leather). Whatever they were, they are no more. Dynahier led off w/a perfect Fireball that broke one of them immediately. Jaheira Blessed most of us & Imoen fired a MM @ one of them that was incanting, disrupting the spell. I charged into the midst of them & started attacking the nearest one to me that was incanting a spell. Minsc was shortly in the behind me attacking whichever one got close to him. Another amazon tried casting a spell & Imoen blasted her w/MM as did Dynahier & I think that killed er. In no time, we’d defeated the would-be assassins. We garnered some good treasure from these foes carcasses.

From there we encountered & defeated six Wild Dogs, & a half dozen skeletons before entering a tomb & killing three Ghasts & acquiring treasure from their caskets. A second time, we ran into six Wild Dogs & a half dozen skeletons guarding yet another tomb. This one contained a Revenant that we beat down pretty easily.  We found plenty of jewelry & potions in the caskets. We continued exploring, defeating four Gnolls before running into a Mage who claimed he’d created a spell that would control slimes & jellies. I thought it would be useful to have & asked about it & he went hostile & called two Ochre Jellies to his aid. Imoen & Dynahier kept him from getting off a spell by hitting him w/MMs each time he tried. Meanwhile, I closed on him, Minsc too I think, & he was dead in no time. His jellies weren’t far behind. Our final challenge was one last tomb, guarded by four skeleton’s w/Composite Longbows & inside a single Ghast, now dead for good.

Just a note about Dy's spellbook. I play that 'specialist mages', e.g., Invoker, can only write & memorize spells from their own school. When a specialist mage increases in level to the point it adds higher level spells, I pretend a rider/messenger from their guild comes to them & notifies them of their promotion & gives the the additional spells from that guild confers upon them, in this case, Red & Blue Fireshields, Minor Sequencer & Ice Storm. Those are the only spells she can learn & keep in her spellbook as the specialist guilds are just that. Specialist mages can cast other school spells but only from scrolls, thus she usually carries a bunch of those in her pack & one or two in her 'quick items slots.'

And that's another thing, if an items is not in a quick slot, I don't allow my character to reach into their pack @ will & pull something out during melee. So, I am very careful what I place in quick item slots. If in melee, a character/NPC desperately needs something in their pack inventory, I make them disengage, leave the immediate battle area, i.e. go around a corner or to another room or behind a copse of trees (unmolested since it's kinda hard to search for something in a pack when an enemy is upon you) & undo their pack & search for the item they're looking for before they can leave that place & reengage. Just makes in more realistic to me.

Lovely. I also prohibit my PCs to swap equipment in the middle of combat, and add a "pause" effect each time they drink a healing potion. It should  take some time to drink up.

Moving west from the Valley of the Tombs to The Gibberling Mountains provided little to pen for you.  By the time we cleared the area, we’d killed 41 Gibberling’s, two Winter Wolves & two Dread Wolves.

Key Event: I found a wounded man in care of a woman who asked me to carry him to the FAI, Gellana, for care. Easily completed & it felt good to bring the young man to the aid of such a good & noble Gnomish Priestess. During the journey we encountered & killed six more Gibberling’s. Actually, we met an FF mercenary that was searching for this ‘Samuel’ when we returned. It appears he was a deserter, led astray by the woman who asked us to take him the Gellana.

I am suddenly somewhat of a hero wherever I go. While I am grateful, this brings on an internal struggle w/vanity…& it means that avoiding the FF is more daunting a task. I was quite sure the FF Mercenary in the GMs would know me. Thankfully he did not b/c I have no desire the shed the blood of such worthy & competent security force.

Treasure of Note: Purse = 5999 gold; Two Winter Wolf pelts (sold); various gems, jewelry, scrolls (sold)

Current Disposition: Resting, recuperating & resupplying in Nashkel

Spook - human monk (update 1)

I started another monk this morning.  This is still using the same XP restriction as my previous one, though that doesn't kick in until BG2.

Spook nearly came a cropper in his very first fight - carelessly getting into range of a wolf while kiting Montaron and going down to a single HP as a result.

He didn't go on to Shoal immediately, but headed down to Nashkel where Noober provided his first level - though only 3 HPs.

Foolishly he didn't get the boots of stealth before going to take on Meilum and spent quite a while there failing to hide before eventually finishing him off with darts (most of the damage having been done by 3 necklace fireballs).  That got him to level 3 and a further 5 HPs.

After getting his boots he moved on to the basilisk area - autopause enabling him to survive a basilisk ambush.  A couple of basilisks then got him to level 4 and 4 extra HPs.  Kicking a couple more until they were down took him to level 5 - a whole 7 HPs this time.  Recruiting Korax to paralyse Mutamin and the last of the basilisks was enough for level 6 and the HP recovery continued with 9 more.  Korax then opened proceedings with Kirian by paralysing her, allowing Spook to join in the fun against Baerin.  Korax then did well by clinging on at near death to paralyse both Lindin and Peter - effectively ending the combat.  When leaving the area the basilisks tried to get revenge by staging another ambush, but once more Spook was too quick to give the basilisk a chance to focus its gaze.

Spook finished the session by stealthing through the Nashkel mines.  Mulahey saved against a stunning blow, but a series of stealth shots then made him run and after clearing up his guards inside Spook went outside to complete the job.

After fleeing from the ambush, I fled towards the FAI where I ran into another. Fortunately on this occasion there was only one, a mage called Tarnesh. I went berserk and as a result was able to kill him. I then headed north where I found a ring that belongs to Joia. Further north I helped a widow to escape from her dead husbands advances and killed the murderers of a child priestess’s mother.

Trying to fool my pursuers, I doubled back on myself and ended up in Nashkel, on the way killing Karlat, another bounty hunter. South of Nashkel I killed some bullies who were wanting to destroy a dryad’s tree and then the bounty hunter Greywolf. After that I became a grand master in the use of staves.

At that point I began to learn the art of magery. I told the dryad what I had done for her, and Prism what I had done for him. I got the reward for the missing emeralds and helped the Dudley family in Beregost. I took some good news to a wife about her husband and helped a slime get back into shape. I then helped Marl accept the death of his son and took a book to Firebead.

I then found Joia and returned her ring and told the priestess about the dead fishermen. At last I regained my fighting powers. My powers as a mage are also much better. I am beginning to feel as if I might survive, much too soon to say though.

I was able to help Melicamp and am currently clearing a field full of zombies. They are easy. Blindness + sling.

I was surprised that I can use a sling since I started as a berserker. When I didn’t have my berserker attributes, I thought nothing of it, but now that they are back, I would have thought I would have lost the ability to use it. There is no ability to use bows, which feels right.

Why? Berserkers could use ranged weapons, they couldn't specialize but be proficient with any - easy enough.

i thought berserkers couldn't use ranged weapons.

Whilst I found the zombies very easy, the Ankheg were far more difficult. When I tried to blind them, they repeatedly saved! :(

Whilst I killed three of them, ultimately I got killed by one.

You might have confused them with Kensai (who indeed can't use any ranged weapons unless they have melee ability as well, i.e. axes and daggers).

Sorry to witness your loss... Its far more convenient to use a Wand of Sleep vs Ankhegs as they are quite susceptible and could be disabled many at once.

The adventure to the Fire Leaf Forest gave more sport than did the Gibberling Mountains. I use this opportunity, necessitated by my status as a man wanted for murder, to work on our ability to fight as a strike-team like no other. While in the FLF we battled & defeated two Winter Wolves, two Cave Bears, 12 xvarts, four skeletons w/Composite Longbows, six skeletons & two kobolds.  Two bandits tried to rob us of our valuables. It doesn’t seem like something anyone in their right mind would do, two men attacking a party of six led by a knight in Full Plate and a Barbarian w/a massive Two Handed Sword, an obvious woodsman w/a Longbow & three women who obviously have some deadly skills in their own right.  The leader claimed his companion was the ‘fastest dart thrower in Faerun’ but the odds were grossly against them but they insisted, to their demise. A strange sight, indeed, when we aided a young boy who was searching for his ‘doggie.’ The ‘doggie’ found us & so we took him to the ‘lad’…& the dog suddenly turned into a devil of some type, the boy into an Ogre Mage & slipped into some teleport gate saying something about, liking the Nine Hells better…

Key Event: Our only test came against three Amnish adventurers who challenged me in a battle of words ending in a battle of steel. We moved north east a bit as if we were moving off to avoid conflict but we turned & set ourselves in a ‘V’ formation w/me @ the helm. I asked Dynahier to cast a Fireball in the midst of where we’d seen them just over the hill. Then Minsc & I charged down the hillside & killed the leader of the group who been their spokeswoman & who now stood charred & nearly defenseless. Easily defeated, Minsc & I moved into to kill the other two, one was armed w/a bow. Minsc took a few shots from a bow & flew into his Barbarian Rage & helped me tear 'em a new one.

Spook - human monk (update 2)

Spook used another fireball and some stealth shots against the amazons before Nimbul was sent running by a stealth attack.  Tranzig did rather better, managing to land a magic missile on Spook before becoming a first victim of his new LMD.  However, he failed to disclose the location of the bandit camp, so Spook had to get a lift there with Raiken before stealthing into the main tent and discovering the location of the Cloakwood (Mulahey's boots saving him from death by lightning trap).

He bought a potion of freedom at High Hedge to take him safely through the web traps on the way to the Cloakwood mine.  There, 2 fireballs killed the mages before Genthore chased him round a shadowy corner once too often.  He then had a fair fight with Drasus - at least fair if you don't count the potion of absorption he'd taken B).

After stealthing down to Davaeorn's level, Spook used stealth attacks to kill the guard - getting 4 more HPs for level 7 in the process.  He attempted to pull both battle horrors into a side room; one of them surprisingly stopped in the corridor, but he was able to pull that one round a corner out of line of sight of Davaeorn before hiding again.  Two potions of magic blocking then took him through the final traps and exhausted his offensive spells and he died immediately after his summoned allies departed.  Stealth attacks accounted for the mustard jelly before Spook rested to get his second horror and flooded the mine.

Spook - human monk (update 3)

Spook did a quick tour of major encounters without any real problems - though Sendai did manage to make him switch to stealth attacks to finish her off.

With reputation up to 20 he bought the Claw of Kazgaroth and did some shopping at Ulgoth's Beard.  The latter allowed him to make use of his new wand of heavens on the battle horrors guarding the route to the tome at Durlag's Tower and to use the Greenstone Amulet against the sirines at the Lighthouse area.  Stealth attacking the golems then got Spook his final BG1 level - a welcome 9 HPs taking him up to a total of 51 (4.5 below average).

Just for the hell of it Spook killed Shoal and the sirines in that area on his way to Baldur's Gate.  In the city he picked up the 3 tomes - Jalantha's flame strike proving slower than Spook's wand and Ramazith being creamed by the giant strength used to enter his tower.

After sneaking into the Iron Throne I had intended to end the session on arrival at Candlekeep.  However, I realised that Spook had forgotten to go and deal with Marek prior to returning to Candlekeep.  The slow-acting poison meant there was plenty of time to loot the tombs (magic protection, cloud giant strength and DUHM) and get back to tie up that loose end, but I thought I would do that immediately to avoid the danger of forgetting again next time.  A bit of haste nearly resulted in a casualty when Spook pressed too hard trying to get one final attack in on Larze while he was stunned (after already being damaged in melee).  However, he just survived and had no trouble with Marek.

He'll finish his work in BG1 next session.

Started a new game with a "Fright of Liches Paladin".

BG1 might be hard as the benefits don't start until BG2. :(

He is a Tiefling which increases Dex and Int, but recuces Wis and Cha.

In addition 10% less experience but to compensate, blindness once per day. Also better hide in shadows, but that's irrelevant for a paladin.

Str 18, Dex 19, Con 18, Int 13, Wis 16, Cha 13.

First game ended in Candlekeep as I have given the assassins some slightly better weapons to make it more interesting. One of them had a dagger of poison which, since I didn't have a potion was deadly. This is the first time that I have been poisoned and have played with this set-up for some time.

The second time I played safe by using Deder's potion of speed and when I was well away from Carbos, cast blindness. Then used my bow to kill him.

As well as the dagger, I got a +1 sword which has freedom of action. :)

Spook - human monk (4th and final update)

Spook's final set of battles commenced with Slythe.  Normally he can be stunned reasonably easily with darts, but on this occasion he saved 12 times and I was starting to think he was actually going to be killed by the dart damage - but the 13th occasion proved unlucky for Slythe (2 invisibility potions were used when stealth failed during that).

Spook had taken a potion of power for that conflict and quickly moved on to the palace while consuming a few more potions.  That was topped off with DUHM before he showed himself.  His opening horror affected nothing and Belt and Liia had both taken a lot of damage before his second horror sent a single doppleganger running.  Liia died as Spook finally managed to do enough damage to make the first doppleganger he was attacking lose morale.  At that stage things looked extremely dodgy (I had decided in advance not to try running outside), but the dopplegangers then started to be much more unlucky with their attacks while Belt and the Fist performed well.  As a result they had already killed one doppleganger and injured the remaining two others before Spook finally got his fists working well.  Here, Spook had just used his CLW on Belt before killing his target, while the last attacker has just lost morale.  Things were still not entirely safe as Belt must have been badly damaged, but Spook's dart quickly cut down two of the remaining dopplegangers before they could recover.  He then searched for the last one - discovering that outside.

Spook took advantage of his remaining storm giant strength to make his stealth attacks more effective while going through the maze - before using a green scroll of magic protection to set the traps off.  After resting Spook sneaked past the Undercity party and into the temple.  I realised Spook had forgotten to bring a sling along, but he proceeded anyway and quickly killed most of the bats and set off the lightning traps round the pillars he wanted to use to hide.  The wand of the heavens applied from distance proved effective in dragging Sarevok out alone and Spook set about pummeling him.  His first DUHM lasted long enough to get Sarevok to near death and a few blows later the big man had had enough.

The victory over Sarevok gave Spook enough XP for level 9 and, after talking to Belt and being sent to Athkatla, he got 9 more HPs for levelling up - finishing up just 2 below the average.

My fright of Liches Paladin got killed by Karlat. Obviously took him on too soon. The tried an Adventurer who was killed by my Enhanced Carbos. One blow from Carbos left him with 1 HP, however he was also poisoned so died next turn.

Tried a Blackguard who was also killed by Carbos.

Now trying a Berserker Tiefling: Str 18/92 Dex 19, Con 18, Int 18, Wis 6 Cha 2. **** in Two-handed swords.

Used Deder's oil of speed and berserk rage against Carbos. Not even wonded. Killed Firebead as well. Sold the katana and other goodies and brought rep up to 12.

Baldr000.jpg

Got to Nashkel killing two ettercap on the way.

Baldr001.jpg

Brought level up to 3. ***** in two-handed swords. Was badly hurt by them and avoided conflict all the way to the Carnival. Rested until healed. Was given a ring by Lord Foreshadow. Went to FAI and killed Tarnesh. Was given slow poison potions.

Heading south the two-belted ogre was killed.

Then two ogrillon and three Flaming Fist Mercenaries

Then Greywolf.

Baldr002.jpg

And Tarnesh

Baldr003.jpg

And Firebead.

Baldr004.jpg

Naturally, this was AFTER I gained some reputation for pretending to help him. Then gave some of my ill gotten gains to the temple to get reputation back to 12.

GtW, Where did you find this class? CKT

Find the forum here or thereabouts:

http://www.shsforums...anced-bg2-cont/

The download page is under stores and items on this page:

Note that the read me is in Polish. That is not a problem. You won't need it.

Blackheart was attacked first by Karlat and then by Silke. Silke killed herself with lightning bolt. He then went through the Nashkel mines successfully and is now going to hunt Ankheg.

He reached level 6,

The question now is whether to dual or wait for level 7? Any ideas? Thinking of dualling to mage.

EDIT

Decided to wait until level 7. Hope that it wasn't a mistake.

Killing the sirene and flesh golem was sufficient

Gate70/Grond0 multiplayer attempt 55 - (update 2)

Johnnie, human abjurer (Grond0) & Cower, elf thief (Gate70)

A short session today saw the duo make a bit more progress.  Arriving back in Nashkel, Nimbul was sent running by a backstab and some magic missiles, but Rasaad nipped in to take the glory (and XP) away from us.  The same backstab and magic missile combination accounted for Neira and then for Tranzig.

Moving on to the Bandit Camp, Cower led the way with his backstabbing staff, though Johnnie helped out a bit with sleeps and magic missiles.  In the main tent Johnnie played a larger role by charming Hakt (who helped kill Venkt) and then Britik (who helped deal with Raemon).  As a reward Johnnie was treated to the purchase of a skull trap scroll at High Hedge before moving on to the Cloakwood.

Most of the Cloakwood was traversed without combat, though Johnnie did get poisoned by a spider during an ambush and had to quickly run off the edge of the map (the poison expiring as a result).  At the mine a couple of stinking clouds and skull traps did some opening damage.  When Drasus woke up to the fact he was under attack he got charmed and accounted for Genthore before becoming a victim himself of some magic missiles.

Stats:

Johnnie, abjurer 5, 31 HPs (incl. 6 from familiar), 43 kills

Cower, thief 6, 44 HPs, 64 kills, 0 deaths
