Nice to see you back in action, Aasim. Interesting setup - good luck with it! BTW, where from are those nifty portraits of yours? Are they only for BGT?
@Blackraven: well done there and better luck in Amn this time!

Gate70/Grond0 multiplayer attempt 59 - (update 3)
May, human necromancer (Grond0) & Blaggerd, human blackguard (Gate70)
Gate70 and I also managed to join up briefly yesterday to make a bit more progress.
The assault on the Iron Throne went pretty smoothly. Blaggerd was protected by the Greenstone Amulet, while May cut the opposition down to size for him by using emotion, slow and horror spells. Unusually Blaggerd forgot to poison his weapons, but was able to kill all the enemies with a bit in hand anyway.
Moving on to Candlekeep the tomes were recovered from the crypts without any problems using MGoI and knock. Blaggerd poisoned his way through the dopplegangers and then used the Greenstone Amulet to do the same with Prat's party - helped there by them finding themselves in a sticky situation. However, on the way out a phase spider jumped away from Blaggerd to attack May. She seemed to react quickly, but a lag attack came in anyway and poisoned her. The chances of successfully casting slow poison on herself would be very slim in single player and pretty much zero in MP where pausing is so unreliable. In SP I would have just let her die, but took pity on Gate70 and abandoned my principles by giving her a potion to drink
- allowing Blaggerd to arrive and practice his pest extermination techniques.
Stats:
May, necromancer 8, 43 HPs (incl. 6 from familiar), 78 kills
Blaggerd, blackguard 7, 92 HPs (incl. 5 from helm), 280 kills, 0 deaths
Best of luck with Tycho (pronounced psycho?) Aasim.
Thnx. Inspired by Tycho Brahe (well, Brahe's nose actually
). Psycho would do as well tho. If he doesn't chunk anyone in my party, I'll consider this a success.
Nice to see you back in action, Aasim. Interesting setup - good luck with it! BTW, where from are those nifty portraits of yours? Are they only for BGT?
Thnx. No, the portraits I use for my party NPCs are my own addition (downloaded from Draconis.org and resized/renamed).
Salira{2} - human monk (update 1)just successfully invaded the Cloakwood Mine and dealt with Daveorn.
Damn, you play this fast!
Tycho, 3rd update
This session started with a brief visit to Nashkel Carneval, where Alora go her brand new necklace. It's the old Necklase of Missiles, now copletely rewamped, it's no longer a wand but a HP-boosting item.
While at it, Zordal was also slain. The captive wasn't rescued.
Next, Durlag's.
Tycho gained a very important level (7) when killing the top basilisks. Next level comes fairly late (150k exp) so it will be a while before it's reached. He can now attack 2 times per round.
We cleared top floors easilly, avoiding Kirinhale alltogether. I don't like the possibility of level drain.
Bottom floor level 1 was also cleared, to an extent.
There were two notable enemies there - Mist Horrors. Their confusion and scripting is very annoying, as is the fact that they see invisible creatures, and being immune to +1 weapons. That's one of the reasons I wanted Spider's Bane before going here. Kivan has a few dozens of +2 arrows (and Acid arrows, which also count as +2) which was enough.
Upon giving Pride his item, we exited Durlag's. I don't think we'll be coming back any time soon.
Returned to main plot, sold a lot of loot, and bought two important items - Cloak of Displacement and Greenstone amulet. Kivan gets both, making himself immune to mind-affecting magic and buffing his AC somewhat.
Currently party is at Cloakwood druid area, pondering if we should kill them all or simply ignore them.
Well done Blackraven - try avoiding those mages in the dungeon this time! In relation to Cythandria there is no need to talk to her before going to the palace.
Best of luck with Tycho (pronounced psycho?) Aasim.
Thanks Grond0. Good to know, and yes: no unncessary Mage fights shall be sought...
Tycho, 4th update
Decided to kill the druids. No problems there. I didn't want to fight the archdruid in the treehouse, since he's fairly dangerous. Those outside weren't as lucky.
Then rushed to the Mines. This poison arrow was all it took to kill Kysus..
Kivan basically soloed this fight, Viconia's skeletons did the tanking.
Inside we made the place a bloody slaughterhouse.
Davaeorn himself wasn't too hard - I didn't even use Pro Magic scroll here.
First we down the Horrors...
Then Davaeorn teleports in between us all
Drops Tycho's HP by half...
..and finally dies to Kivan's acid arrow.
To the city we go, killing of anybody worth killing. ![]()
Gorpel hind was very happy Kivan could trigger dialogue with him - Tycho was a second away from hitting him. ![]()
Iron Throne was Kivan's solo job. He buffs with potions, and stealthily enters the room. He has a number of Detonation arrows on him.
He leads the enemies to their demise
All apart an invisible assassin. Now he uses his Tracking skill to reveal the thief skulking inn shadows.
..and kills her. We grab the documents and high-tail it to Candlekeep.
There Edwin died again. All was going well, Kivan showing Sakul how to properly handle bows...
but Prat teleported himself to rest of the party and put everyone to sleep. Edwin got struck by a critical and died.
Prat follows Edwin soon after. Unlike Edwin, he won't be revived.
In the city, Tycho and Kivan use Pro Magic scrolls to take care of Slythe and Krystin. Tycho also uses Potion of Magic Shielding not to go berserk and make everybody hostile on a failed save.
Krystin's morale broke, and she hid herself. Viconia reveals her swiftly
and Kivan does her away.
Duchal palace was rather frentic. Edwin, Alora and Viconia enter invisible, Kivan and Tycho are still under Pro Magic scrolls. Again, Tycho needs Magic Shielding potion - a wrong target hit here and it's game over. We focus down whoever is attacking Lia or Belt.
Their mage manages to pull of a Chaos, but nvm - we can't be affected by it.
He dies on the stairs as the last of the Dopes.
Sarevok himself kills Lia and teleports away.
We chase him down through the trap-infested maze, pass invisible to avoid the Iron Throne leftovers (I don't need to fight those, no levels can be gained apart level 8 on Edwin - level 9 is at 300k and that's beyond BG1 reach), and only take a brief stop to kill Tamoko. This lasted for a while
but when her Physical Mirror expired, she was done for.
@Tycho
Nearly there. Just be careful.
Tycho, 5th and final BG1 update
Kivan triggers the fight, under heavy potion buffs - Defense, Fire Resistance, and Heroism.
Invisibility potions are his best friend - he is to solo much of this battle.
For convinience, Tazok dies first.
Kivan now starts taking some pot shots with Acid arrows to little effect. Alora (invisible) goes in and starts to detect illusions.
The moment they're dispelled, bam. again, they try to hide.
Well, if she can do it once, she can do it twice.
Kivan starts blasting away at them with Detonation arrows. This makes Angelo follow him around alone. Kivan welcomes the challenge and pierces him through.
The arrow-slinger Diramid is next to fall. This leaves skeletons, Semaj and the big cahuna.
Edwin gets bored and summons some Ogres via wand of MS. Semaj instantly responds with Chaos, disabling both him and Viconia. That's a shame, they can both remove confusion, and they're both confused. Bah, nvm. Sarevok is chasing ogres whose morale breaks instantly at the sight of skeleton warriors (with aTweaks, they cause a no-save panic in anybody lower than level 7)
Hahahaa. 1 point damage for spell disruption!
That was the last spell he attempted.
Meanwhile Sarevok finally catches up with the panicked Ogres, turning them to mush.
Tycho now joins the fight and together with Kivan destroys the skeletons.
With the last undead down, Edwin and Viconia start summoning a meat wall.
Tycho pulls back, and lets Kivan and Alora smack Sarevok down.
Few rounds later...
@Tycho
Nearly there. Just be careful.
I was. ![]()
@Aasim - nice work. Best of luck in BG 2.
Thnx Corey.
Well done Aasim, and best of luck to Salira, Grond0.
@Aasim is there a romance on the cards for bg2 or are they just good pals?
Well done Aasim, and best of luck to Salira, Grond0.
@Aasim is there a romance on the cards for bg2 or are they just good pals?
No romance, I'm afraid. I don't really dig such stuff. I do like modded NPC romance for females (only two - Kivan and Xan), otherwise no.
Gate70/Grond0 multiplayer attempt 59 - (4th and final update)
May, human necromancer (Grond0) & Blaggerd, human blackguard (Gate70)
This pairing had made light of most of their BG1 adventures, but came close to throwing it away at the final hurdle.
Arriving back in Baldur's Gate from Candlekeep, they re-equipped then went in search of Slythe. A dispelling arrow and some summoned monsters soon put paid to him.
Moving on to the palace May attempted to put Belt into the safety of an Otiluke's sphere, but he saved. However, the dopplegangers weren't as lucky with their attacks as the last time we were here and Blaggerd's poison soon took its toll.
Taking advantage of the potion buffs from the palace Blaggerd slaughtered his way through the maze - including the skeleton warriors who were baffled by the PfU scroll he'd read. However, a spot of over-confidence set in as Blaggerd made a frontal assault without spell support on the Undercity party. He was badly wounded by exploding arrows, but did have a small window of opportunity to run away. However, he pressed the attack and paid the price when his Greenstone Amulet charge was dispelled and he was held.
After a trip to a friendly temple the pair returned to track down Sarevok in a less friendly temple! The plan was for Blaggerd to draw Sarevok out using a dispelling arrow; Semaj would also teleport out, but dispelling arrows on him would cut him down to size while he concentrated on some summoned monsters. That plan went awry immediately when Blaggerd for some reason moved forward rather than attacking from maximum range - activating all the enemies as well as various traps. Exploding arrows quickly put Blaggerd into critical danger and looking into his potion case he failed to find any potions of invisibility. Meanwhile, Semaj had teleported to the other end of the temple and was threatening May.
The situation was further complicated at that point by Gate70's connection dropping. In that situation we don't allow a reload, but Gate70 is unable to rejoin the game until the battle is finished. Once his Skype connection was restored I kept him in touch with the progress of the battle as shown below:
Gate70: Looks like it's all yours ![]()
Grond0: You went down to 1 HP, but have just disappeared with a potion I threw you ...
Gate70: sigh
Grond0: Though it seems battle horrors can see through invisibility in BGEE!
Gate70: obviously...
Gate70: Am I dead now?
Grond0: In real trouble. Another battle horror appeared out of nowhere and then everyone else appeared to sense the fighting and piled in. You're back down to 1 HP and Angelo is shooting exploding arrows ...
Grond0: A critical on Angelo saves you for a few more moments ...
Gate70: ![]()
Grond0: Still going - you've finally managed to dispel Sarevok and one of the 2 battle horrors is dead. I'm desperately trying to run around just out of sight of Semaj ...
Grond0: Tazok and battle horror down - only Sarevok and Semaj remaining. You're up to a whole 18 HPs.
Gate70: Sounds like I'm doing much better out of the game than in it.
Grond0: Semaj survives a cloudkill and saves vs malisoned chaos while Sarevok distracted by final lot of wand monsters.
Grond0: Also saves vs emotion and slow, but it does him no good as a skull trap demolishes him.
Sarevok then has no chance - regularly hit by magic missiles from the side while chasing after Blaggerd, though an arrow proved the final straw.
Stats:
May, necromancer 9, 46 HPs (incl. 6 from familiar), 92 kills
Blaggerd, blackguard 7, 92 HPs (incl. 5 from helm), 300 kills, 1 death
@Grond0 & Gate: glad you've made it out of trouble! All the best in Amn!
Today I've had no less than 6 solo attempts with a barbarian. Ended by a Gnoll's critical hit, Bassilus's Slay Living, Semaj's Flame Arrow, Hobgoblin Shaman's Hold and two I can't remember. I shall attempt to solo no more.
The attempt to fight Sarevok with a solo melee warrior was succesfull on 2nd attempt (1st was ended by Semaj's Flame Arrows). The succesfull attempt took 26 invisibility potions, 10 regen potions, 20+ Oils of Speed, and 35 charges from Wand of Magic Missiles. I shall not repeat such an endeavor. ![]()
As I’d planned, next I travelled to Bear River. On the way, we crossed, battled & defeated three Ogrillons before exploring the area around the river.
Once at the river area, we were confronted by six Wild Dogs, six Gibberling’s, two Ogres Berserkers & then two Ogre Berserkers with four Hobgoblin Elite’s w/poison arrows on a bridge. Tough fight. We defeated eight Ogre Berserkers who disturbed our sleep & another one of them during his mealtime. We assisted a Paladin inn defeating a pack of Gibberling’s & finally defeated four Chill Hobgoblins we crossed paths with. Early on, we defeated a Mountain Bear that was harassing a dandy. He rewarded us w/a pair of Boots of the North.
Key Event: We were never threatened near Bear River. If any encounter could have been dangerous it might have been that w/a chap named Neville who called himself, “the Fairest of the Bandits” or something similar. He was accompanied by five Hobgoblins, not Chill, who were also not adept @ camouflage. Perfectly executed, Dynahier eliminated all five Hobgoblins with one charge from her Necklace of Missiles. Concurrently, Imoen blasted Neville w/two Magic Missile spells from her Charming Rogue innate abilities & Jaheira shocked him w/her innate Priestess of Silvanus Call Lightning spell. Minsc & I charged & Khalid backed us w/his lethal Longbow & this battle was over in about 20 seconds w/nary a one of us receiving so much as a scratch (although Minsc had been wounded earlier).
BANDIT BATTLE @ BEAR RIVER
I feel truly ‘blessed’ to be surrounded by such worthy companions. My fearlessly loyal Barbarian, Minsc w/his ruthless Two-Handed Sword; my Ranger & Archer, Khalid w/his pinpoint Longbow & Called Shot ability, not to mention adept skill w/dual-Bastard Swords; Dynahier, the epitome of virtue, who is my spokesperson when dealing w/other mages & who’s Mage-Invoker spells are more powerful than I ever imagined; Jaheira, my priestess, who fights like a warrior while casting divine spells both helpful to our group & lethal to our enemies & who serves as one of my two most trusted advisors & spokesperson w/Cleric’s & Druid’s; & most importantly, Imoen, my lifelong friend, almost like a little sister, who has become a very highly skilled Charming Rogue, who can sense & disarm any trap, open any lock, cast well timed innate spells & who serves as my primary spokesperson w/the finesse of a Bard. I continue to sense my Neutral world-view being inspired by those who serve me so loyally & efficiently. I also sense the ‘Heroic’ esteem which average folc hold us when we pass them on the road or enter their towns & it touches my heart in a way I have not known before.
Treasure of Note: (Purse = 11433 gold); Long sword +1 (sold since we have no one skilled w/this weapon); Boots of the North (Khalid)
Current Disposition: Resting, recuperating, selling loot & resupplying in Nashkel
Next Steps: Xvart Village
Level Up: Imoen received a runner from her guild who gave word that she is elevated to Magsman (Thief/Charming Rogue//8); she is now working on her Move Silently/Hide-in-Shadow abilities, now both @ 35%, already having achieved 100% in Find/Remove Traps & Open Locks.

Ok. Here we go. This was my 7th barbarian attempt in BG1.
Weidu (same as last attempt)
Previous attempts were mostly solo, had one decent with Kivan along but died to Gullykin ambush.
This time (it was morining when I started the run), I rolled this character. I liked the scores a lot - I did no rerolling nor stats changing - what you see is what I got. One notable weakness is lowish intelligence, which means no scrolls. ![]()
Ah well, all in a days work, since other stats are pretty darn awesome. Without further ado, this is Gyros. The ONE that made it through. 7th of 7. The big cahuna. ![]()
First level up was gained just south of Beregost, after finishing minor quests there. (14 HP).
Adopted Tiax. He will be my archer (multi clerics can wield bows on my install). He's the only NPC I'll take, and if he (we) manage to survive, I'll install Tiax NPC mod to my game.
Saved the chicken.
this promises of a good game.
For level 3, Shoal was killed. (14 HP)
Some running around in circles had downed the ogres in the same area.
Level 4, Greywolf. + 15 HP
Level 5, Ankeh farm + 8 HP
Bought Greenstone, Displacement and Ring of Invisibility (key item for this sort of a speedrun). Did sirens.
Killed Dushai. Now Gyros can no longer be disabled.
Level 6 - Mutamin and basilisks (17 HP)
Also dealt with the group of brigands in the area, Tiax silenced everyone.
Gullykin band was the closest Gyros came to dying, and it was indeed a very close call.
Again, lots of running and potion quaffing. We eventually won.
Returning to the main plot - Mulahey got poison-bitten.
And now it was basically a rush-game, having most of the items we wanted (Archery bracers etc.)
Invisible, we take the documents from Bandit camp.
Level 7, Cloakwood Spiders. + 11 HP
Like Bandit camp, we enter Cloakwood mine invisible. Of course, Davaeorn has to die there. The problem was that Gyros can't use Pro Magic since he's too dumb. Hence, some trouble was ahead, and some HPs were bound to be lost....
It lasted for a while. Eventually, Davaeorn fell, and his guards scattered.
Had a strange bug after flooding the mine. Tiax was teleported outside, but Gyros remained inside.
This made playing further impossible since it's a party-required area they somhow crossed divided. (thinking about it, I could have disbanded Tiax, exit, take him in again, and continue playing). Meh.
Anyway, a little CLUA action did the trick.
Noobs. Your mine is flooded! ![]()
Speeding through the city, Tiax steals the documents from Iron throne tower. No risk here. He rules!
Same tactic lead us safely through Candlekeep catacombs. Level 8 was gained by killing the two basilisks. (+9 HP).
Coming to BG, we no longer bother with anything, simply go straight to Undercellars.
Was a bit dicey, but we prevailed. Good thing is Gyros is a barbarian, and cannot be stabbed.
I kept Tiax invisible for Duchal battle. Gyros is to enter hasted, and blast away; hoping for the best.
Belt did a VERY decent job, killing off three dopes.
Sarevok killed Lia and teleported away.
Gyros, final BG1 update.
Well, Tiax removed the traps in the Maze, and invisible we march through evading all battles up to Sarevok's hideout. Gyros took Remove Magic from Semaj and drank an invisibility potion. Got lucky here, since Angelo decides to follow. He did succeed in mazing Gyros (Shadow door works like that with SR).
Angelo has a very decent AC, and being limited in THAC0 scores, we couldn't actually hit him. Tiax could Dominate him, however.
I feed him to Sarevok and his lackeys.
Now Tiax starts his hit-n-run Detonation arrows galore.
Tazok dies first.
Next Semaj.
Excersised some backstabs on Diramid. This one was splendid.
The next one was more than he could handle.
Had only few invisibility potions left, only one stab was succesull on Sarevok. The other one was a critical miss. ![]()
So Tiax and Gyros do the merry-dance with arrows and darts, until Sarevok gives up.
Gyros will be entering the BG2 challenge soon; albeit he won't be speeding anymore, and will have a full party to support him.
Tiax finishing off Sarevok, there's some irony in there. Anyway well done Aasim!
On the way to the Xvart Village, I & my followers encountered two Winter Wolves & defeated them, securing their pelts for sale. Dynahier took a blast from one of their ‘Freezing Breath’ weapons. It is strange to come across these huge, intelligent, evil wolves. Unlike their ‘normal’ cousins, these wolves are enchanted in some way by the power of cold & ice & when one spots them, it is b/c they are finished stalking & are already attacking their ‘prey.’ Even Jaheira will immediately attack a Winter Wolf.
Once I got us to the Xvart Village area, I had us make camp to allow Dynahier to heal. Our rest was disturbed by 10 Xvarts that we defeated w/some effort as we were all tired & had grounded some or our armor & weapons. After that we encountered two wolves & two Dire Wolves. Imoen was irritated with me for buying what I thought to be a Protection from Magic Scroll from a man who approached us in the wilderness. I immediately knew I’d been deceived & tried to bring him to justice for taking advantage of me like that. He must have been tough b/c both Imoen & Dynahier blasted him w/Magic Missiles & Jaheira w/Call Lightning. I’m sure Khalid tagged him at least once & Minsc got him once w/his Two-Handed Sword but he disappeared w/o a trace. (Note: the Deities & Demigods description of Gawain says he was a ‘…revengeful knight & would travel to the ends of the earth to right some supposed wrong done to him or his family.’)
Key Event: This is another of those instances where the key event isn’t so much. We finally found the actual Xvart Village where we defeated & killed 35 Xvarts & a huge Cave Bear named Ursa or something. There was another Cave Bear, the male, in a cave nearby. It was ironic to hear the leader accuse of us slaughtering them w/o provocation when they attacked us on site. Regardless, Xvarts are Chaotic Evil to the core & are a cross between Goblins & Kobolds (although they’ll usually attack the latter). Even if they hadn’t attacked us, something tells me the Faerun is a better place w/o evil humanoids of any kind.

ATTACK ON THE XVART VILLAGE
When we returned to Nashkel, we made trips also to the carnival, High Hedge, Beregost & FAI to find that enchanted Quarter Staff we all thought we’d sold but couldn’t remember where. I gave this to Dynahier & we purchased some Potions of Mind Focusing too.
Treasure of Note: (Purse = 9,076 gold); Mithril Ring (sold)
Current Disposition: Resting, resupplying & selling loot in Nashkel.
Next Steps: There’s an archaeological site northwest of the Xvart Village. I’m going to start there & work my way westward before turning north a little.
Level Up: None

Corey_Russell/Dogdancing Multi-Player No-Reload
Protagonist: Tcos, CE gnome, level 5 fighter/level 6 thief
Companion: Zaxxon, CG gnome, level 5 fighter/level 4 illusionist
The duo stretched their legs today. They finally got the stealth boots for Tcos, not that she does that much just yet.
We tried to clear the area with the girl and her dead cat, but we eventually ran into a problem. We ran into some winter wolves, which we badly needed for funds. We tried to rest, but none showed up (or so we thought) - this proved to be a problem later.
We cleared most of the map with little trouble. However, remember that area where we camped a few times? That same area had FOUR winter wolves! They quickly locked onto Zaxxon and killed him with 3 shots (about 2 seconds). The verbal dialogue between Dogdancing and Corey_Russell went like this:
Dogdancing: You're dying!
Corey_Russell: No, I am dead.
However, Corey_Russell knew something like this could happen - he had Dogdancing use a cold resistance potion. Corey_Russell also had Tcso run close to the wolves to make them use melee instead of ranged - this worked and she lived! Whew...
However, there was now a LONG task of transferring the many pelts we had at this point, as well as all of Zaxxon's stuff to the chest in the cave. Good thing thats there. Eventually, Tcos got the job done, and for 800 gold at the Nashkel Temple Zaxxon was brought back. Now the task of getting his stuff back. Little problem? On the way to the cave, THREE Cave Bears! Tcso tanked (she had to with Zaxxon naked) - Zaxxon did use blindness (successfully) and two sets of magic missiles, then used his fists - the duo wins this fight. Finally Zaxxon's stuff is recovered and the can sell their loot and the rest of the map was cleared without incident.
Tcos is now very far ahead in experience, but such is life. The duo was real low on blue potions so went to Durlag's Tower merchant to buy up all his stock. Session ended here.
