@Epsil0, I know the frustration (for example with solo runs ending in the Ducal Palace hehe).
Love Gondil's portrait. Good luck with last part of BG1!

Yeah... I've killed him without it in the past, but those were usually Fighters with 18 DEX and still using sword-and-board.
Gondil, Human Cavalier: Second and final update.
He get sent off to Candlekeep, and is arrested in short order. Under a Potion of Absorption, Shield, and Fire resistance he obtains the STR tome as usual, and for the first time in forever decide to deal with the gang in the catacombs: the returning axe is too good to pass up right now, even if I didn't need it. We have way more gold than we need: I have Gondil pick up the Sandthief's ring just for good measure.
Back in Baldur's gate, we get everything identified, and buff for Slythe and the Doppels. For the first time in awhile for me, neither Belt not Lillath fall in either battle as Gondil is smacking things left and right at 23 STR and 4 APR, tossing out CLWs and Lay on Hands as necessary. We start navigating the maze... and the game crashes, and I'm forced to redo the palace battles. Again, both of them survive, and this time I save afterwards. The maze is completed without issue, and as good as Sarevok's party is, they can't touch someone after they've drunk something like 15 potions. Sarevok falls, and Gondil is about to go to Amn (probably to his death!)

Gate70/Grond0 multiplayer attempt 72 - (2nd and final update)
Tag, dwarf fighter/thief (Grond0) & Kriax, dwarf kensai (Gate70)
Our co-ordination proved off a couple of times today and the second occasion proved fatal ...
There was an early scare against the sirines. Kriax was protected by a potion of clarity and could have run into the middle of the first group of 3 while they were trying to turn invisible - they would then have wasted charms and then attacked in melee rather than using bows. However, he was a bit slow to move and the sirines separated. To try and save Kriax from arrows of biting Tag meleed one of the sirines - getting confused as a result. There was then a lengthy period when Kriax had to work hard to keep the opposition from finishing Tag off, but he was successful in that and Tag eventually came back to his senses. That took so long though that the potion of clarity wore off just as the duo were engaging Sil and her companions and Kriax was charmed. Fortunately that meant the sirines had no interest in harming him further and Tag just needed to stay out of harm's way until Kriax recovered (was charmed again and recovered again) and killed the sirines.
After smacking down the golems the duo made their way back to civilisation using a lift from Brage. Tag hadn't checked his inventory ahead of that though, with the result that he dropped the constitution tome - fortunately it was still there when they got back again.
The Nashkel mine posed no problems, with Mulahey taking 2 stealthed backstabs and panicking as a result. The amazons, Nimbul, Neira and Tranzig (who demonstrated how a necromancer always aims to have the last word) provided a trail of dead bodies pointing the way north to the FAI for the first time. Rather than stop there though the travellers continued north to Ulgoth's Beard to buy a ring, amulet and cloak before coming back to have a go at the ankheg nest. That was done very slickly with Tag moving into backstab position before Kriax approached an ankheg's position at a run - nearly all the ankhegs died from the combination of a backstab and hit from Kriax before even getting an attack.
Moving on to the Bandit Camp the outside area was cleared without trouble. Inside the main tent, the plan was for Tag to sneak in and use a potion of firebreath to decimate the opposition before Kriax joined in - he would use the Greenstone Amulet with a view to ensuring he was safe against horror and could then finish off any opposition. Unfortunately the intended use of the firebreath potion failed initially with Venkt being warned of the danger rather than being attacked. A second attempt succeeded, but only Hakt was killed by the single lot of damage and Venkt's horror sent Tag running. Meanwhile Kriax had entered and managed to beat his way through Venkt's mirrors. However, his poor AC meant he was taking damage from Raemon and Britik in return. He successfully killed Britik and had Raemon at near death when his luck (and HPs) expired. Raemon quickly re-equipped his bow and Tag didn't last long against the stream of magic arrows that followed.

@Grond0, Gate70: So the men in Tazok's Tent claim another Bhaalspawn. Perhaps that would have been a great time for Kriax to use a potion of defense (like say the one you get for saving the men from Silke) - his AC would be great then.

What do you mean the ONE that you get for saving the men from Silke.
You charm two of them and get them to fight Silke. Silke kills them. They both carry a potion. You then speak to the survivor and get the third.
Alternatively, you can kill Silke and then pickpocket them. ![]()

Durin the Deathless - dwarf kensai (update 1)
Thorin was the earliest of my dwarf kensai's in the current series of attempts and I've been working up Tolkien's genealogy since then. There are quite a few dwarves named above Gloin in the family tree of the 'Longbeards', but the only name that I've not already used is Durin. Rather than go for one of the later Durin's I've named this one after the original in the hope that his nickname might rub off!
Like other recent entrants Durin will not be allowed the use of any potions. However, typically my characters live a bit on the edge, with the use of little or no buffing keeping things interesting even in fairly routine fights. That practice eventually led to Gloin's downfall and, as I'm intending Durin to be the last of this series of attempts, I will see if I can steel myself to play him as safely as possible within his stated restrictions.
As he can't access the strength tome without potions I've once again kept rolling stats until getting a maximum exceptional strength.

Just had a VERY short run with a Blackguard.
Everything was going fine.
Used gold to boost reputation before killing Firebead.
Had used the oil of speed to avoid conflict on the way to the temple.
However in this set-up the temple was also hostile!
Therefore I couldn't raise my reputation. ![]()
Gorion was ALSO hostile. ![]()
Therefore, end of game.
![]()
It means that I cannot role-play a Blackguard as I am quite sure that he would have killed all those who he felt had not given him the respect he was due. ![]()
In my previous set-up it WAS expensive to kill Firebead, but it was do-able.
Somebody probably thought they were IMPROVING the game. I don't think so! ![]()

Well you can roleplay that your deity tells your Blackguard to wait with dealing with Firebead, and that soon an opportunity will present itself for your Blackguard.

Only option. I like to kill him twice for the extra experience. I have no problem with having to kill him twice as he is near enough to a temple to be raised, and being a powerful mage, the gold would be found to do so.
Started again following your advice. I somehow once more was able to stop myself from killing him. That will have to wait until I am a hero.

Gate70/Grond0 multiplayer attempt 73 - (update 1)
Eyesore, gnome illusionist (Grond0) & Danya, elf fighter/mage (Gate70)
We made a start on our latest attempt today with this pair of randomly generated classes. It's so far, so good for them with no real threats to their life or limbs as they moved from Shoal via Beregost, Nashkel, Meilum, basilisks, Greywolf and the Cloudpeaks. There was one significant error when Kirian was allowed to talk her way out of a confrontation - she was lucky to be able to depart as her 3 companions were already all blind and she was about to be coughing in 3 stinking clouds.
Blind has been used quite successfully so far in other conflicts. In this installation blinded creatures stay still, rather than annoyingly run all over the place like with SCS or in BGEE. Other magic has also helped out, but the bulk of the killing has been done by Danya's bow - even at level 1 an elf with 19 dexterity using a composite long bow is already hitting AC0 with a 14 and she's now into single figures at level 4 with the help of the Bracers of Archery.
Stats:
Eyesore, illusionist 5, 40 HPs, 40 kills
Danya, fighter 4 / mage 4, 30 HPs, 87 kills, 0 deaths

Hello CrevsDaak ![]()
After a week off, Blaggerd gets into his stride and dishes out the poison wherever possible.
http://i208.photobuc...15/Baldr008.jpg
Failing that he goes for the big hits.
http://i208.photobuc...15/Baldr012.jpg
With the odd slugfest.
http://i208.photobuc...15/Baldr013.jpg
Battle Horrors are swept aside.
http://i208.photobuc...15/Baldr015.jpg
Davaeorn gets a dose of poison through his mirror images.
http://i208.photobuc...15/Baldr016.jpg
A rare (for me) occasion where he dies before he can teleport away.
http://i208.photobuc...15/Baldr017.jpg
Another slugfest in the Iron Throne HQ.
http://i208.photobuc...15/Baldr018.jpg
BG:EE treats the trip to Candlekeep differently to BGT and the buffs are removed upon arrival. Blaggerd has spares of everything but decides to keep the scroll of magic protection for later.
Some careless play, forgetting to use the greenstone amulet. Prat and his gang are all badly wounded but alive and Blaggerd wanders round for a while. He recovers in time to deliver another hefty conclusion.
http://i208.photobuc...15/Baldr019.jpg
The Coronation sees Liia killed and Belt survive, although Sarevok moved in on him and Blaggerd had to intervene. This resulted in him being blocked in and a healing potion was required (Blaggerd has used a few regenerations but no healing potions other than this one).
http://i208.photobuc...15/Baldr020.jpg
Rahvin and his gang give as good as they can, but not quite enough.
http://i208.photobuc...15/Baldr021.jpg
Blaggerd loots their corpses and is more or less ready for the finale.
http://i208.photobuc...15/Baldr022.jpg
Semaj is first to fall in the Fallen Temple, followed by Angelo. Switching between the throwing axe and Spiders Bane sees Blaggerd lose the oil of speed movement bonus. After dragging Tazok and Sarevok around briefly, a critical axe fells the half-ogre.
http://i208.photobuc...15/Baldr023.jpg
Sarevok is treated to poison melee, but shows why charnames with 2 handed swords shouldn't neglect their buffing. Blaggerd squeaks out an Absorb Health.
http://i208.photobuc...15/Baldr024.jpg
& Sarevok crumples to the ground with the next hit.
Blaggerd will be off to Amn at some point, some half-formed plan involving a silver dragon and the gith in Watchers Keep. What could possibly go wrong.

Two questions for you smart folks & old timers:
1) I want to change the M & S portraits of Branwen to those of Lagertha the Shieldmaiden from the Vikings series on History Channel (who's based on a real woman from Norway of the same name & who was married to the infamous Viking Ragnar Lodbrok. She is a buttkicking woman & find her exactly what I think Branwen would look like.
a. But...when you pull up an NPC, the only thing you can change really is their Script/AI. I want to change her appearance/portrait. I've already gotten some great M & S Images of Lagertha from the series & sized them for BG but don't know how to do it.
b. I tried to use Shadowkeeper but that seems only to have the basic portraits & few others but does not seem to have an option for 'uploading' an image.
2) Second question is: who can tell me the spells/abilities that are assigned to Kirinhale the Succubus on the third upper level of the keep. I'm writing my update but, as always, that takes me more time than to play the game. I really want to know what spells & abilities she has in order to flesh out my narrative & make it interesting. I don't know how to go in & find code & stuff & I wouldn't know what it meant anyway. :I In AD&D they were able to: cause darkness 5' radius; their kiss drains the victim of one energy level; become ethereal; charm person; ESP; clairaudience; suggestion; shape change (to any humanoid form of approximately their own height and weight), or gate in a type IV Demon (70% chance), type VI = Balrog (25%), or a Demon Lords or Prince (5% chance). I'm sure Kirinhale's abilities are a bit different. Please help.
Thanks for a quick reply folks. Been working on this narrative all day & want to get it posted so I can hit the 1st Labyrinth Level & get into some of the big stuff.

For 1) take a look at:
http://portraits.cho...ait_change.html
For 2) I think you would need to go into near infinity to find that out and I'm afraid I can't help you with that. From memory she definitely has the ability to charm and to turn ethereal when damaged - the latter being a real pain if you can't do sufficient damage quickly to kill her as she heals while ethereal. I can't remember if she has any other abilities.

She also has the ability to drain energy. Her combat script looks something like
- charm (preferable males) , teleport (location depends only on gender of charmed char - so you can await her there), ethereal
- energy drain, charm (preferable males), ethereal, teleport (2nd nearest char)
- energy drain, ethereal, attack for one round
- teleport (2nd nearest char), ethereal, charm, attack for one round, ethereal
- ...
I didn't find any healing/regeneration abilities so I don't know if she actually can heal herself. However this is from BG1EE, perhaps it's different in the original game.
