Thanks Alesia and Grond0 for your good wishes.
@Flamedance and The Pottty 1, if that's tha case I'll probably try to install Ascension via BP. I could always take Gerry from EE ToB to BGT ToB should I run into problems (and should he successfully negotiate SoA)

As promised...
Reasoning behind this character: of all classes, the ones with the worst wand/spell saves is Fighter, and Gnomes get bonuses to those saves. Plus, Berserk grants immunity to Stun. Halfling was also a possibility, but one of the titles I once used was the Only Gnomish Barbarian, so this was an obvious choice. ![]()
Nardal, Gnomish Berserker, introduction:

Breaking from my standard Longsword or Flail play as well; BG2 kept throwing Bastard Swords at me, and there's basically no NPC that's ordinarily proficient in them in BG2... Thus points are 2 in Bastard sword, 1 in Longbow, and 1 in Two-weapon style.
Early game is standard, heading to Shoal to snipe her, though there was a complication when a Dread Wolf spawns. The 2 level boost only gives 12 HP, for a roll of 4 on 2d10: I almost considered restarting here because that's just so bad. Whatever, Nardal pushes on. A Ghast is killed at High Hedge, Marl talked down, a book given to Firebead, and two spiders are enough to give Nardal his 4th level, 9 HP.
South to Nashkel for the Ankheg armor and Pro. Petrification, back to the Basilisks. Korax died to the last basilisk, but Nardal gained level 5: 13 HP. The Ogre and returning quest items at the FAI puts Nardal at this position:
Current proficiencies: 3 in Bastard sword, 1 in Longbow, 2 in Two-weapon-style.

Gerry salutes Nardal
Good luck Epsil0!
Gerry, Gnome Cleric/Thief, update 1
Although I've hardly achieved anything, I feel it's already time for a second entry. A lot has happened in what, two days? First of all there was this voice in my head telling me I was insufficiently skilled a cutpurse to nick an enchanted dagger from old Fuller in the barracks.
Very well, no more babbling... Gorion... My dear foster father left Candlekeep with me, for me, because he knew someone or many someones wanted me dead. But in the end he was the one to fall. He died defending me from a band of ruffians, more bounty hunters it seemed, that wanted him to surrender me to them. I fled, as he instructed me to when an acid-coated arrow hit me, and saw nothing of the battle that ensued. I found his corpse the next morning, and that of two young men and two Ogres.
Gorion was a good man, better than I am, for sure. I know he wasn't my true father but he had selflessly cared for me and tutored me for as long as I can remember. And now he's gone. I feel like I'm still in a state of shock, like all this isn't real.
My friend Imoen from Candlekeep found me that same morning after Gorion's death. She wanted to travel with me but I relcutantly declined and saw her back safely to Candlekeep. Obviously she had no clue what she would have got herself into. As much as I would have liked her company, I couldn't put her life at risk just like that.
A letter on Gorion's corpse hinted at friends to be found at the Friendly Arm Inn, but I decided against going there. Gorion's killers might have read that letter. The alternative route I took, via High Hedge to Beregost, was hardly safe either, replete with Ghouls and Skeletons as it was.
Anyway, I made it to Beregost where I met with Firebead and spoke with some of the townsfolk to see if there were any jobs I could do. For a woman named Mirianne I accepted to look for a Halfling messenger, but I found him dead, killed by Ogrillons. I slew the Ogrillons (before three Flaming Fist mercenaries would; surprisingly they attacked an Ogrillon that had strayed off).
I'm currently at the Jovial Juggler inn, where I got another scare when a cloaked Half-Elf accosted me. I really seem to be becoming paranoid what with all those people that seem to want my scalp. I tried to impress the Half-Elf by telling her I was a mercenary that's not to be messed with, but she proved friendly, and even offered to join me.
I'm really enjoying this tender young playthrough so far. Lots of unexpected stuff, such as the pickpocketing message, the Fist attacking the Ogrillons, and now Morwen. There were also Lathander priests/servants in the inn, but they wouldn't talk with Gerry yet.
At the start of the game I had a solo challenge in mind, but feel inclined to just go with the flow now, which fits Gerry's CN alignment, and have Gerry travel with Morwen for the time being. Morwen is a Dark Horizons NPC, with a slight XP headstart and too many enchanted personal items for my liking, but I may lower her XP and will drop (some of) those items. I would also crop her portrait match Gerry's better.
I've got no idea if she has any banter. If so, she'll have a better chance of staying on).

Ouch Grond0, old habits and automatisms are dangerous friends in new setups. Does this mean the end of your swashbuckling attemppts, or will you at least try to get another Swashy into Amn?

Fuller walked past Hull, guarding the inner gate with a headache and a frown.
"Forget your sword again, Hull?" Fuller asked, noting that his guardsman's scabbard was empty, once again.
"Yeah," Hull yawned. "Late night."
"Another girl?" Fuller asked. "Which one have you duped this time?"
Hull glared back at Fuller sullenlly. "What I do when I'm off duty is my own business."
"Was it Quin?" Fuller winked. "Gorion's lass? You seem to have eyes for her."
"Umm..." Hull looked away. "You know she's a witch, right? And she wears a slave bracelet. They say she won't take it off -- or can't more likely. She's still claimed property. By somebody dangerous, I'd bet. We should stay away from her. I'd even suggest we ask Gorion to take his little rescue project elsewhere."
"Indeed?" replied Fuller. "Very well then. I'll go have a talk with Gorion. And Hull? Lay off the beer."

Entering Quin the Sorceress; based on a portrait randomly chosen. Same mods: EE, SCS, randomizer (freshly randomized), some tweaks. I'm going to use every trick in the book to try to keep her alive...

Indeed. My attempt to choose a name that would trick my subconscious into taking extra care didn't work out too well did it! So perhaps she does deserve another chance.

Gate70/Grond0 multiplayer attempt 78 - (2nd and final update)
Cinders, elf dragon disciple (Grond0) & Fraye, halfling priest of Helm (Gate70)
Today's performance with this pairing was less than stellar. After killing Shoal and doing a bit of work around Beregost Fraye thought that his seeking sword should be able to account for Karlat. Instead he found his healing potions taking a hammering - could be something to do with not wearing armour at the time
.
Moving on via Nashkel the duo soon arrived at the basilisk area. The southern group were killed, although that took some time with Fraye not hitting very hard in melee and Cinders not doing much damage with her darts. She tried to speed things up by activating her special ability, only to find it wasn't a scorcher effect, but a mushroom that tickled Fraye up nicely along with the basilisk.
Up north Fraye approached a group of 2 basilisks and tried to drag one away on its own. Cinders retreated to stay out of the line of fire and found that a gnoll had colonized the encounter spot they had just come through. Cinders decided to lead that away while Fraye made a start on the basilisk, but things didn't go according to plan. Clicking on a moving target in EE is considerably more difficult than in BGT, which is a pain as we try to minimise pausing when playing. As a result it was no great surprise when her intended dart cast at the following gnoll turned into movement straight under its nose instead. Cinders reacted quickly and was only next to the gnoll for an instant. Normally that would be no problem as the gnoll halberds are slow. However, in this instance the gnoll had obviously been following closely enough to still be observing combat rounds and she must have caught it part way through the round as the gnoll immediately hit her. With 24 HPs she would need to be a bit unlucky to die to a single swipe from a gnoll - but it was that sort of a day

Gate70/Grond0 multiplayer attempt 79 - (update 1)
Risqe, elf wild mage (Grond0) & Pallor, half-elf fighter/mage (Gate70)
After our earlier fall we immediately got back on the horse (or possibly dragon) for another try. Our random selection of character classes has been plumping for lots of mage types recently and another couple came out this time. At least Pallor can act as an excellent tank - so long as he can survive Risqe's fumbled spell attempts of course.
The duo went immediately north this time to recover the ring of wizardry. Travelling back to seek out Shoal both of them struggled to survive a bandit ambush, but got away with it.
Pallor was a bit disgruntled when he went to all the effort of killing Shoal and still failed to get a level. However, a bit more work in Beregost saw him under way as well.
A trip to the Cloud Peaks saw Sendai blinded and shot in order to prevent her archer comrades from going hostile before being tackled themselves. The same was tried with Vax, but he saved and alerted Zal to trouble coming - not that that ended up helping him much.
Risqe, wild mage 3, 28 HPs (incl. 12 from familiar), 16 kills
Pallor, fighter 2 / mage 2, 20 HPs, 18 kills, 0 deaths

@Gate70/Grond0: Sorry to hear of the recent demise of your duo - good luck with the new pair. Pallor indeed should be able to be a good tank for you, and even better one, once you can do some buffs (such as blur, mirror image, improved invisibility, etc.).

It was another no-reloader (maybe CKT or Epsil0?) who mentioned this site in a post a while back. Not everything there fits with BG, but there are a lot of good portraits.

IIRC it was Aasim.
Drakonis.org has some nice stuff, but the females tend to be scantilly clad and excessively buxom. For reasonably dressed and proportioned females, check out http://char-portraits.tumblr.com/.
My portraits for Arcadia, Amelie, and Ariel all came from there. In full size, you can see that they're really nice pieces of art and, importantly, the subjects are treated respectfully.
Arcadia
Amelie
Ariel
My upcoming characters have come from that site as well.
Inquisitor
Blade
Ranger (possible Feralan)

Indeed Aasim, it was you!
And I agree with you Alesia; there's some questionable anatomy on Drakonis. I like the random portrait feature a lot (but I only pick the ones that provide a spark for a story that I'd want to tell). I imagine that one of these days I'll end up with a lich or a bunny rabbit Bhaalspawn.
Thanks for the new site! Beautiful artwork...

I really like that site. And new portraits are added on a regular basis. You have to crop and convert to make them work in BG, but I don't mind that so much. It doesn't take long. I use Gimp to convert for the Enhanced Edition and this site to convert for the classic engine: http://image.online-.../convert-to-bmp

Fwiw, KR Beastmaster will have a Panther Animal companion. If I can, I'll color it white and call it Micko (that's my cat's name). ![]()

I got a major bug in my last game so I am starting again with Evel and Isla. Firebead was killed again. The road was cleared to nashkel. A dog and cat were rescued as was a boy in a lighthouse. The archaeologist and Brage were helped. Prism was helped and finally the two of us went into the mines where we killed Mulahey. No major incidents. Indeed, a bit too easy. It makes me suspicious about what the game is going to come up with.
