Ch 16

So far i did candlekeep's chores. After the death of my foster father i decided to go loot is body(hell maybe a few magical trinket lying around) and then wandered off in the wrong direction and met a few bears. Not much of a challenge though i did had to chug 3 potion and then go back on track and met 2 wolves which i slaughtered to piece with my 2hsword.
Finally got back on the road and met 2 strange fellas. The lil stout didnt say much but the crazylooking human was spouting nonsense about a mission they had to do. Nothing else to do so might as well go with them.

edit- Well this didnt take long lol. After defeating a horde of gibberling and an ogre i went to friendly arm inn and got caught stealing. I managed an escape and lost them by going to cloakwood. It was late and i decided to sleep but we were ambushed by a giant spider. A near fatal wound combined with deadly poison finished me off  :(

Joining this challenge with Fiona, human inquisitor. I chose an inquisitor because she'll allow me to fight those pesky SCS mages without resorting to cheesy tactics (too much).:P
Fiona's stats:
St: 18/54
dex: 18
con: 18
int: 9
wisdom: 13
Cha:18
Proficiencies: two pips in two handed swords and two pips in crossbows.

Playing with a Big World Project Tactics install, which includes Baldurs Gate Trilogy and SCS.  I will take the roleplaying somewhat seriously. That is: no association with evil companions, no thievery in Baldur's Gate (paladins don't steal) and no running off as fast as i can to some obscure corner of the map to get the 'Twohanded Sword That Kills Everything In One Hit'  at first level. On the other hand, a bit of metagaming is unavoidable with tactical mods installed. I'll also (probably) be avoiding the Drizzt Saga mod and possibly some high-risk optional encounters. BWP reduces all xp and all monetary rewards by 50%, so that'll keep things a bit balanced too.

In the Candlekeep inn i pick up my pet wolf Haiass and buy myself a twohanded sword and leather armor. During the first few levels, Haiass is a decent enough tank which will allow me to mainly use my crossbow and avoid melee till i have a few more hitpoints.

I do the usual chores in Candlekeep and can (just) afford to buy a light crossbow and some bolts from the rewards.

After the ambush and Gorion's death, i hook up with Imoen. Imoen now has a Charming Rogue kit that improves her as an archer and gives her some low level enchantment spells as innate abilities. Since i get one hell of a thief right off the bat in SoA, i'll still dual her to mage at a relatively low level.
We travel north to the spot where we were ambushed last night and are attacked by two wild dogs who die before they even get to us. The assailants are gone. Imoen suggests we bury Gorion. Before doing that, i pick up two scrolls and a scroll case from his body. One of the scrolls warns that a wild mage has been seen near the walls of Candlekeep. As a side note: in fact he's a lvl 30 wild mage who can easily be beaten even at lvl 1, since sooner or later one of his spells will backfire and he'll turn himself into a squirrel or something. That may require a couple of reloads, though, so i decide to leave that  for now.

We talk to two travelers who want to join us, but a Detect Evil shows they are evil, so i turn them down.
After talking to that annoying Gandalf -wannabe Elminster, we hug the west side of the map to avoid any encounters. When we travel to the FAI, we get ambushed by a group of ogrillons and bandit archers. Imoen immediately gets an arrow in the back, so i decide to run for it. Immy is badly wounded, so she pops a potion. Unfortunately she gets hit by a second arrow and is near death again. We make the exit just in time.

We rest and heal outside the inn.  We talk to a girl who was robbed by hobgoblins and asks us to recover her ring, which supposedly is a family heirloom. . We travel to the north of the map where the hobgoblins can be found. Haiass tanks them, Immy and me take them down with ranged weapons. No one loses a single hitpoint.

I decide to leave Tarnesh for another day and head south to Nashkel. Taking the safe route, we reach Nashkel without incident. Upon crossing the bridge, Haiass automatically gains a level, making him a lot more durable.

Unfortunately, a bug kicks in and Oublek greets me like a long lost friend, while i've never met him before. Meaning i don't get the +1 rep for telling  him  i'm not Greywolf. Oh well. I act as a babysitter for two incredibly annoying children which gets me a little xp and a + 1 rep.

The mayor of Nashkell asks me to investigate the mines, since the ore has been tainted and some miners have gone missing.

When i cross the bridge to the south, i meet the most annoying person in Faerun (except for Anomen). Usually i decapitate him on the spot, but a paladin obviously can't kill people just because they're annoying. Imoen urges me to kill him (but makes no move to do it herself) and i must admit that i'm sorely tempted. When he finally buggers off, i get a little xp.

On the Nashkel carnival, i meet the bard Keiria Silverstring, who asks if she can join my group. I agree, a decision i'm pretty sure i won't regret since she's a lvl 5 bard with munchkin stats. She has a total of  98 stat points (Sarevok only has 95) and comes with some cool equipment.   Ok, it's cheesy, but hey!, it's a no reload.

Since Immy starts to complain that she's tired, i decide to rest at the carnival and explore Beregost and Nashkel tomorrow.

Ch 14

I am planning so far to rp this one out as a little league group(only halfling, dwarf and gnome)

Started out with all the usual chores at candlekeep. After gorion's death the annoying imoen came to me but i told to leave. I wanted to see the corpse of gorion one last time and then came to the roadway and found 2 odd person.

One was a tall human named xzar that seemed deranged and Montaron an halfling like me that seemed to be dangerous. Their relationship was holding up on a thin string and it seem Montaron had finally had enough of Xzar and killed him(No human in mah party!!!)

Montaron was a little hurt and he needed to rest. Before camping i had a discussion with montaron about cooking and poison.

After this we set off on the road. I explained to montaron i wanted to see 2 person and he agreed as long as we do it fast. We met with a strange old man and then were attacked by a horde of gibberling. Didnt have time to count but there was about 15 of them chasing us down.

We made it safely to friendly arm inn. There with we were attacked by Tarnesh. We quickly fend him off with a thrown dagger in his chest and a bullet to the head.

We rested a little at the inn and then proceded to explore. We found the 2 people i was looking for but i dont feel comfortable around tall people and so declined their offer to join us. I explored the area and found a nice ring that i cant seem to make use of(ring of wizardry) and a woman asked me to retrieve her family heirloom.

The hobgoblin were no match and we retrieve the item + a little loot that we sold.

We took the road to beregost and there we were attacked by the same horde of gibberling. We didnt run off in the good direction and then we met up with a group of bandit and jobold raining down arrrow on us. Montaron had to chug afew potion but we made it to beregost safely.

Even got picture of my great escape

Continuing the adventures of Fiona, lvl 1 Inquisitor.

After resting at the Carnival, we travel to the Temple of Lathander where we meet a young cleric, Gavin, who asks to join us. Since he seems like a nice fellow and we certainly need a cleric, we accept him in our party.
Fiona decides to travel north to the Friendly Arm inn to meet Gorion's friends. We arrive at the inn without incident, but when we try to enter we are approached by a rather suspicious acting fellow. When we refuse to answer his questions, he attacks us. Haiass run up the stairs to attack him while Gavin casts Command. Unfortunately, he makes his save and gets off a Sleep spell that takes out both Fiona and Gavin. Imoen and Keiria make their saves, however. Imoen uses a Wand of Missiles to get rid of his Mirror images. Keiria finishes him off with an Acid Arrow: i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd487/Mohina1/Baldr001.jpg.

Inside, we are asked by a halfling woman to get back her belt from an ogre who seems to have an obsession for belts. Another woman asks us to clear her house in beregost from an infestation of spiders.

I decide not to talk with Khalid and Jaheira just yet. I certainly don't need Khalid, but i may want Jaheira later on. If i turn them down now, they disappear.

In Beregost, i calm down Marl and get the old mage his book at the inn for some xp and + 1 reputation. On the road south of Beregost i run across two ogrillons who have killed a halfling. Sleep takes both of them out. Haiass gets in the killing blow on the last ogrillon: http://i1222.photobu...a1/Baldr002.jpg

Since i'm not exactly fancying my chances against a lvl 10 bard, i decide to leave Silke for now. Delivering a letter i found on the ogrillons to a woman in Beregost nets me a nice Ring of Protection + 1.

On the streets of Beregost, i am approached by a woman who's neighbor has been changed into a Green Slime. A letter i find, seems to point in the direction of a trader in the Red Sheaf Inn. When we enter the Red Sheaf, we are attacked by a dwarf fighter, who's out for Fiona's blood. Command + Blindness make short work of him.
I buy the antidote from the trader in the Red Sheaf and administer the antidote to the Slime. The antidote seems to work. Seems the silly man thought the potion he bought from the trader would change him to the Faerunian incarnation of Arnold Schwarzenegger: http://i1222.photobu...a1/Baldr003.jpg.

To be continued.

Decided that Psyche (see previous post) should not be allowed to continue.  New character is Sensei - a Kensai. Str 18(66), Int 9, Cha 17, others 18.  Master in scimitars.  I've also spent the time to reload mods with a slightly different setup:
EasyTutu-TOB
EasyTutu NPC kits
Tutufix
Herbs & potions
BG miniquests
Grey clan
Sirines Call
BG1 NPC project
BG1 UB
Dark Horizons
Drizzt saga v2
The Stone of Askavar
Spell revisions
Sword Coast strategems
Rogue rebalancing
aTweaks
BG2 Tweak pack
Spawn randomizer
I did try running Dark Horizons previously without luck, but this one seems to work as I met a new large rat at Candlekeep this time.  Taking the road after Gorion's fall I joined up with Xzar and Montaron before pressing on to the Friendly Arm Inn.  Montaron's backstab failed, but Imoen's magic missile interrupted Tarnesh and he didn't recover.  After joining up with Jaheira and Khalid to get a full party they attacked the ogre's area.  Montaron managed to stand in the way of the bandit leader long enough for the others to kill him and with no other missile users in the area the rest was easy.   In Beregost pacified Marl, stole a cloak (though at a reputation cost) and sanitised a spider nest.  That gave Sensei her first extra level and a very welcome 13 additional HP.

Continuing down the road from Beregost met 3 obnoxious guards rather than the usual one, but the end result was the same - extra armour for the party. Then came across a new couple of assassins. Jaheira successfully blinded the missile user with a sunscorch and finishing them off was easy. They had really good loot, including a returning throwing dagger - great for Sensei as buying daggers was looking very expensive. Also picked up a new pair of boots for Montaron in the area and recruited Viconia. I think Jaheira is probably a better bet than Viconia and had intended her to stick around. However, I initially picked Viconia up (with a reputation hit), then dropped her (without getting reputation back - probably something to do with the level 0 NPC mod). As a result Jaheira took the hump and stormed off. Still - Viconia immediately levelled up and got 8 HP. If she can keep that up she'll be fine. Continuing down the road to the next area the party met up with a pair of vampiric wolves. Normally there would be no way through them, but Sensei managed to pick them off with her dagger, while Viconia bravely ran interference. That gave most characters another level - and 8 more HP for Viconia! The rest of the area was straightforward and the party travelled on to Nashkel.

In Nashkel listened patiently to a long story by Noober and found I had learnt something at the end.  Picked up a nice light suit of armour for Viconia and donated at the temple (to make sure no more NPCs storm off) before swapping Xzar for Edwin (now a sorceror).  Then headed to the inn for a rest.  Viconia's command stopped Neira in her tracks and the XP from that gave Sensei and Kagain levels.  Sensei gained a phenomenal 14 HP, though Kagain let the side down slightly with just the 8.  Then set off for the gnoll stronghold.  On entering the area the game crashed.  After trying a few things I found out that this was the result of recently discovered compatibility issues between Dark Horizons and SCS.  After such a good start I hope this doesn't mean I need to ditch this game.

Spent some time reinstalling the game - this time putting DH after SCS.  This might cause problems elsewhere, but has let me continue on into the gnoll stronghold.  In addition to tougher gnolls there was another party of assassins waiting.  However, only one of them chased me originally and then the remainder let Imoen and Montaron prepare traps and backstabs which took most of the fight out of them.  All the party got another level out of clearing the area.  However, just to teach me not to gloat every HP die roll was either 1 or 2!  Travelling north got some boots from a traveller and helped a paladin with a plague of gibberlings.  Kagain got to 4th level, but just minimum extra HP again to give him a miserable 36 total.  With most of the party out of missile weapons headed back to Nashkel to rest and re-equip.

Final post for Sensei. Halfway through completing the mines I met another party of assassins and decided to run away. Headed north towards Ulgoths Beard and met yet another party on the bridge to Baldur's Gate. Unfortunately this time I didn't run quite quickly enough and the elven archers cut Sensei down without mercy.

Sorry to hear that. But tbh, a kensai probably isn't the best choice in a no reload in BG1 due to the horrible ac.

Thanks Flamedance.  I agree about the kensai, but I suppose that's part of the attraction.  I've done several non-reloads in vanilla BG and it would be relatively easy to compensate there because it's more predictable who opponents target.  I think I've just about got the hang of sword coast strategies now, but got caught out by Dark Horizons (which I've not played before).  What I should have done is run the moment I saw something I didn't recognise and then scout out how to deal with the encounter.

I've started again with Exeat, male kensai, str 18(86), int 9, others 18, master in scimitar.  Let's see if he's patient enough to take on all comers (or possibly to let the party take them on for him).

Summary progress to date:
- Tarnesh beaten to the draw by Imoen's magic missile.
- Bandit caravan leader backstabbed by Montaron and frontal attacked by Khalid.
- Tristan and Isolde confronted by a couple of charmed Flaming Fists, though Imoen was killed when hobgoblins intervened in the battle and confused things.
- Two from party at gnoll stronghold got backstabbed.  Allister did manage to shadow door and get a confusion off, just before the party were able to jump map areas, but fortunately only 2 characters failed saving throws and they were held against the edge of the map until they regained their senses.  Edwin also got too close to a gnoll clan leader's extra long halberd and chopped down (which at least saved Dynaheir from being executed).
- Journeyed to Ulgoth's Beard, avoiding the party at the bridge to get the green amulet and ring of free action (the latter taking about 200 attempts as pickpocket skill only at 25%).
- Took on the mines.  Montaron killed by duergar in the course of backstabbing duties; Edwin shot down by the ambush at the start of the final battle.  Back in Nashkel Kagain was also killed in confronting Nimbul - Exeat stayed invisible.
- Silke appeared to have some sort of contingency invisibility, so I went for a rest before coming back to finish her off.
- Molkar attacked us at Friendly Arm: magic user was mobbed and Jaheira blinded 2 enemies with sunscorch, which should have made it easy, though Montaron still managed to get killed.

Summary of state of party now is:
Exeat - L5 kensai, 71 HP (including recently acquired familiar), 45% kills to date, +1 scimitar, grandmaster scimitar.
Kagain - L5 fighter, 52 HP, 19% kills, +3 battle axe, grandmaster axe.
Jaheira - 4/4 fighter/druid, 36 HP, 8% kills, scimitar, specialist scimitar.
Imoen - 1/5 mage/bounty hunter (just dualled), 26 HP, 10% kills, was using longsword +2.
Edwin - L4 sorceror, 21 HP, 2% kills, uses mainly blind, sleep and invisibility.
Montaron - 3/4 fighter/thief, 23 HP, 15% kills, specialist shortsword, doufas' sabre (vicious mod item).

Sorry to hear about that. Those Dark Horizons assassins are tough if you are not expecting them.

Forgot to take screenshot but the story of the little fellowship of Tana Bondo continue.

After arriving at beregost we went out and met kagain(hurrai for tank). After this i went to feldepost and montaron decided to pick a fight with the 2 idiots that taunt us. Easy kill but major hit to our rep -3 i think it was).

And after this we met tiax. This little fellow mage/strifeleader of cyric is really interesting. Is limited number of spell and prayers kinda ****** me off but he got a free summon(Summon ghast) and just being having someone able to cast command is helpfull. After this we rested and went north to find kagain's caravan. We defeated the few bandits there and then also proceeded to go kill the ogre further north.

We then decided to walk east and find the famed village of Gullykin. There we met Alora my utility thief(find trap/lockpick). Our group was almost completed and so we went back to beregost. There alora stole algernon's cloak and we were hired by silke to beat up some thug but we turned on her villainous buttock. A bullet quickly interrupted her casting and then she got crippled by an assortement of throwing weapon(throwing axe, dagger, bullet). After this we went in the inn close by and defeated the bounty hunter waiting for us there. A quick doom followed by a command worked on the dwarf and we finished him off fast. We then proceeded to take on the spider infested house which was rather easy. Tiax summoned his ghast to tank the spider and we just killed them off 1 by one.

This was it of beregost for the moment. Montaron constant reminder that we must hurry to nashkel convinced us to go straight for it. We killed some ogrillion that didnt even manage to get past tiax and Tana volley of bullet and on the way we met a flame fist soldier that mistook our group for bandit and we had to kill him. This was closely followed by an attack by 2 assasin. A sunscorch on the ranged girl and doom followed by command made this rather too easy. And we got some fat loot. Montaron picked off the incredible short sword and alora the returning throwing dagger(k this **** is retarded she has 5 attack with it).

Further south we killed some hobgobelin and some bandits and a fabulous fella gave me a ring that i didnt manage to identify as of yet(but Tana Bondo look prettier with it lol). Combined with algernon cloak im now at 20 charisma.

Finally arrive at nashkel. There we go speak with the mayor and the stupid guy giving the bounties(and we told him the truth XD). After this we decided to rest at the inn but we were attacked by another fellah. Once again a quick doom followed by command made short work of this new assaillant. We proceed east to the carnival and meet the final member of our group. Quayle the Cleric/illusionist. We do the quest there(The exploding ogre, the witch and killed a thief that tried to stole my money after i entered a tent. Guess i forgot about Branwen but hoh well.

We go back to nashkel and then meet minsc who go berserk on us after we refused to help him. We also meet edwin but we shrug him off and now i look like an idiot because i cant go to the gnoll forteress and im missing out on a tome(ill prolly edit with shadowkeeper but im not sure as im rping this one).

Now that our group is complete we take on naskel's mine. Kill some dog in a building. and then we go down underground. Horde of kobold come at us( or we come at them w/e) until we meet the Duergar's clan that tries to kill us. We managed to attract the first dwarf away from the rest of the group. and he is quickly dispatched. And we then continue to pull them off 2 by 2. with curse and command being spammed by tiax and quayle we manage to get them all and nice sunscorch from Tana on the duergar with a crossbow(with bolt of biting those **** hurt like hell) and lotsa heal. Now its the lootfest with some really good armor for tana and kagain and a superb +3 axe giving +1 con(FFS 21 constitution for kagain lol).

Kill more kobold and disarm some trap and now we are at mulahey. Kagain tank mulahey while alora stop him from casting anything with her 5 attack throwing dagger lol. During this time tana bondo chant(and then turn undead), quayle sleep almost every kobold and tiax command the rest of the kobold that are still up. Moar loat(especially that cool cleric ring +1 prayer for lvl1 to 4). We rescue Xan and he run off while we follow his exemple. Toward the exit we meet a few goo that were no match for us and we finally got out.

After this we walked back to nashkel and were once again attacked by an assasin. And once again he is alone so i doom/command him and finish him off.

So here we are for now

My group is

Tana bondo lvl4 Painbearer of ilmater

Kagain lvl3 berserker

Alora lvl 4 thief(Wish i had installed song and silence so i could get the adventurer kit for her which just fit her like a glove)

Montaron lvl 4 assasin

Tiax lvl3/2 Strifeleader of cyric/mage

Quayle lvl3/2 Cleric/illusionist.

The story of Tana Bundo continue to unfold.

We left off the party at nashkel after being attacked once again by an assasin. After this rather short(for him) attempt at my life we slept a little and decided to explore around.

We all decided to go south and there we met a group of amnish noble that wanted to hunt us down. We quickly fended them off. We finished exploring the area and kept on going west. There we fough gnoll kobold and other wild beast. We also found the helldog rufie and brought it back to his master.

We continued our march west as to try and find the famed gnoll forteress. We passed trough a xvart's village causing a genocide and killed what they considered a god, a dangerous cave bear. A mage tried to sell us some magical items but kagain had the idea of just scaring him into giving us all is item. I reluclantly accepted but the mage merchant didnt want to cooperate and we were forced to take him down.

Still we walked toward our goal and were ambushed by bandits, hobgobelin and ogre. We also helped a man cross a bridge by clearing the way of a vicious bear. Nothing could stop us in our wake toward the forteress.

We finally reached the forteress(didnt think we could just get there thought we needed edwin or minsc to give us the location on the map) but we had to cross a bridge guarded by 2 ogre. Tana Bondo does not cooperate with ogres and thus we killed them both. One of the ogre had the gauntlet of dexterity which i immediatly gave to kagain. Now with an increase of +6 in dex kagain has gianed an enormous bonus to his AC and is now the perfect tank. Slightly further a group of assasin tried to kill us
http://i262.photobuc...anagarn/TB1.jpg
We explored the south of the forteress and found naught but kobold and xvart with a loner carrion crawler. We also found a cache with a old tome explaining how to look prettier and how to convince ppl to your whim.
http://i262.photobuc...anagarn/TB2.jpg
http://i262.photobuc...anagarn/TB3.jpg

We continued the exploration of the gnoll forteress and wiped it clean of the dirty gnoll.
http://i262.photobuc...anagarn/TB4.jpg

After this we were full up on loot and went back to nashkel to rest a little and unload our stock.
We were now rich beyond measure. And now lighter we went back to exploring the surrounding area. Southeast was the new direction we took. There we found ghoul gibberling and wolves.
http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii90/managarn/TB5.jpg
Aside from the critter that invade faerun, we met a strange gnome that told us that an evil is wathcing us. He also gave us a scroll of magic protection for that we may be save when the time come.

We also met another person. A lady named Lena who asked us to take is badly hurt friend Samuel to temple of wisdom at the friendly arm inn. With haste we reached the temple and gave him to good hands. Such a long travel beared down my companions and we decided to rest. We then met up some old acquiantance. The old lady that asked us to rid her house of spider and a famous writer who wanted her belt, that was stolen by an ogre, back. We decided to shop a little and bought a magister's robe for quayle and bought a helm of charm protection for Tana.

Quest done and our purse gone, we took back the route to naskel and decided to stop at Beregost to meet with Mulahey's contact. We learned what we can from him and then Montaron planted is short sword in the mage back instantly killing him.
http://i262.photobuc...anagarn/TB6.jpg

For now the group is as follow

Tana bondo lvl5 Painbearer of ilmater

Kagain lvl5 berserker

Alora lvl 5 thief

Montaron lvl 5 assasin

Tiax lvl4/3 Strifeleader of cyric/mage

Quayle lvl4/3 Cleric/illusionist.

Am really enjoying Dark Horizons. I keep on getting taken by surprise, which makes the game a lot more realistic.

Diary of Dragonslayer
Have taken on the bandit camp successfully including the killing of Tazok.
Unfortuntely Dynahir and Coran got caught in the web cast by Dynahir. This resulted in the death of Coran as I was unable to heal both of them.
Carried on to the Cloakwood mines. Rescued Beador on the way and tried to rescue Maretha, but she wouldn't talk! (A bug I think, probably too many mods)

To rescue Beador, took on the Hamerdryad first and lost Dynahir. Whilst rescuing Beador lost Coran.
Went to raise them at the temple.

Returned to Cloakwood and took on the Shadow Druids successfully. However Coran got chunked, so I picked up Imoen.

In the mines Dynahir, Jaheira and  Imoen got killed  so had to raise them. Am now returning to rescue yeslick and pick up the goodies.

Yeah, same in my install. I assume there's a mod conflict here, but i haven't been able to figure out what. In my previous install, no one would talk to me at all, now it's just Maretha.

Continuing progress for Exeat - list of major encounters and any occasions party members were killed below:
- had a bad moment when the revenant demonstrated a paralyzing attack I wasn't expecting (may not be a mod as I would normally backstab / shoot him up with fire arrows), but the party managed to kill him before he could finish Kagain off.
- Borda chopped down quickly with the help of a backstab.
- Doomsayer ran out of HP well before Edwin ran out of magic missiles.
- Saving Brage's life got reputation up to 20.
- Melicamp successfully restored.
- Imoen sacrificed herself to get ogre Droth's helmet, but also killed by a backstab from a pirate at the lighthouse.
- Lamalha & co ambushed us in the Beregost temple area.  After dispelling their invisibility they only got off one unholy blight before being cut down.
- Discovered a forger akin to Cromwell in the Friendly Arm and realised I need to earn more money - time to go and sort those Ankhegs out!
- At Ulcaster Imoen was killed when some kobolds were slept and left while skeletons and zombies were dealt with.  The kobolds were forgotten - until arrows started thudding into backs!  Icharyd posed few problems - the party was hasted and only took two bolts of lightning before finishing him.  That was also the first time that Exeat has bothered to use his kai ability.  Trying to get into the dungeon crashed the game, so I left that for now.
- Via Gullykin took the long trip through the Firewine ruins.  Near the entrance Montaron found a trap.  I think I've had trouble with that one before so I was extra careful where I clicked, but it made no difference - he walked straight into it and was killed.  After a visit to the winery cleric Montaron and Khagain worked their way through the maze.  At the end a well-placed backstab put paid to Lentarn and the ogre mage went the same way.  At Firewine bridge acquired a nice pair of bracers before wasting a monster summoning charge on Kahrk - who had already been paralysed by Imoen.
- Decided to use the Darkveil that Montaron had on to help take on Mutamin and his creatures.  Unfortunately it didn't do what it said on the tin and Montaron was stoned the first time he was stared at.  He also wouldn't rejoin the party so in the end Exeat had to relieve him of his items by force.  A quick trip to Gullykin to recruit Alora as a replacement before returning to finish off Mutamin.  That was sufficient for Imoen to get her L6 mage and recover her thieving abilities.
- In the Red Wizard area worked hard to keep the giant spider webs away from the unprotected party.  Then prepared the party to take on the wizards, only for them to disappear because Edwin was in the party - what a waste of their equipment!
- Looted the upper floors and exterior of Durlag's Tower, leaving the lower levels for later.

With all accessible areas except Ulgoth's Beard, Durlag's Tower and Larswood / Peldvale cleared it's time to get on with the main quest.

You're right about the Darkveil. I started a post about it a while back. Apparently the medusae do not have gaze attacks.
They have to touch you. That is the reason that the Darkveil does not work. The revanant problem is not a mod as you rightly said. It's supposed to happen, though Kagain will often save being a dwarf. Bad luck I suppose Posted Image. I often use backstabbing myself.

So far have only found two extra ambushes at BG. Neither was particularly hard.

I like the way that one mod explains why Tazok is still alive at the end of the game.

Diary of Dragonslayer

On the way in to Baldur's Gate was again ambushed. I expected it and they were therefore easily dispatchedPosted Image. We got to Baldur's Gate and did Scar's little jobs. Went to a nearby house and was attacked. My beloved Dynahir was killed Posted Image and then raised at a templePosted Image. Went to get Imoen and was intercepted by a messenger wanting me to go to the temple of the Morning Lord. Sent me to deal with some assassins. Afterwards swapped gavin for Khalid and Jahiera.
Have since been doing fetching and carrying quests together with killing a few minor bad guys.
Completed all the quests up to the Iron Throne Quest in Baldur's Gate. Dropped off Khalid and picked up Kivan in order to enable the fight near the entrance to the Gate.

After some pause (library-sitting & books-reading) BlackStrider (Conjurer) & Co continues their journey. They successfully cleared all eastern areas without any issues or losses. Not much to tell here. Without Thief in a party (Imoen still not regains her thief abilities) Jaheira was necessitate to deal with Ulcaster's & Firewine Ruin's traps via brute force. In Ulcaster dungeon BlackStrider fetch his first Wand of Fire (*Now I have a machine-gun!* he thought and expected to be at least a *Die Hard* fella).  Karhk, the the so-called Greatest Ogre Mage, was distracted by skelies and Kivan made him a needle-pillow with ice arrows (which passed right through his defenses with ease). From his corpse we took excellent loot - 2 Haste scrolls (for both BlackStrider and Imoen) and Pearl necklace.
Now they are destined for Larswood & Peldvale.

to be continued.

Thanks for the information wise.  That explains why the medusae were chasing me around more than I would expect.  However, although they seemed to be at short range for a gaze attack they were still way out of what would normally be considered touch range - that snaky hair must be verreeee longPosted Image.

Continuing Exeat's adventures:
- the party successfully infiltrated the bandit camp and killed Tazok - he seemed to not have regenerated his hits after talking to you this time, which made it easy.  After exploring the rest of the area attacked the bandits.  It was no surprise when all the outside bandits joined the fight, but it was a bit of a shock that the NPCs from Tazok's tent did so.  However, a few well placed fireballs sorted them out and left the area clear for looting.
- travelling between the bandit camp and Peldvale was ambushed by wyverns.  Don't remember ever encountering them outside the cloakwood before; still, nice to have some easy money for their heads.
- coming back to the Friendly Arm prior to attacking the Cloakwood were accosted by Najara and Vallius.  They were accompanied by guards and I didn't realise 2 more guards joining the fight were actually from the Friendly Arm until I noticed that reputation had dropped from 20 to 6 - that might reduce my intended shopping a bit.
- In the Cloakwood agreed to do a job for Seniyad.  Further through the wood Alora spent some time triggering traps to avoid mishaps to the main party.  In confronting Centeol the giant spiders were a concern.  Imoen was held; Jaheira quickly cast a free action on her, but it didn't seem to make any difference (presumably the spell only kicks in at the start of the next round or something like that) and she died before the last spiders could be chopped down.
- Various cloakwood druids, but none caused much trouble.  They did have yet more high-class equipment though.  Successfully saved Beador and Maretha - she did talk to me (see above post from Flamedance).
- Talked to Kieran and he let me past.  No idea if he had good equipment, but I've got plenty anyway.
Next step the Cloakwood mines.

Medusae are actually supposed to use bows. They even use the bow animation. It's considered a ranged touch attack (and thus can miss, unlike the basilisk gaze which can be saved against, but does not miss). They have to come pretty close, but they don't actually need to stand next to you to use their attack.

Thanks for the info Flamedance.

Dragonslayer is now travelling around clearing up minor problems in the south. Has picked up Khalid again and has found a few minor ambushes. Is now so powerful that it is only modded parties that cause any problems.

 Tana Bondo's little fellowship

The story of Tana continue to unfold but this time with greater danger. I felt like core rule was too easy and went to insane. This should prove slightly harder.
We left off after the death of mulahey's contact. We didnt learn much from him we then decided to continue exploring the sword coast. Going south west we met melicamp a strange chicken that asked for our help(probably a mod conflict because he just said bwackkkk help buc buc buc and i couldnt get the quest started).

After this dissapointement we explored the area killing hobgobelin and such until we met a strange boy saying a funny man was discussing with is dead "relatives". We decided to meet this strange man and he mistook Tana for is mother. As wed proceeded to unblur is vision he tries to kill us. A quick turn undead made sure we wouldnt be disturbed while killing bassilius. Alora made sure he couldnt cast anything with her returning throwing dagger and he quickly died to a axe in the head and short sword in the back. After this it was skeleton hunting time as they all fled pretty far.

We decided to go to the temple east of beregost to get the reward for bassilius's symbol. A nice reward was earned and more exploration was waiting for us. We went east till we met a group of worg, dread wolves and vampiric wolves!!!! Kagain AC of -8 made sure he didnt get hit even once while we fended off the wolves 1 by 1. A group of hobgobelin wanted some fun at the same same time so tiax casted a hold person so they could wait their turn and quayle casted a stinking cloud to get the rest that werent held. Right after finishing off the wolves we relieved these hobgobelin of their misery.

Slightly after we met a strange man spouting nonsense about data he gathered by gazing at the stare and future he could predict. Not much came out of this. We continued exploring and met another group of hobgobelin offering us lives or death for our gold. We declined their offer and killed them.

The exploration continue but we go back to the west at High edge. There we fought skeletons gnolls and ghouls. We also met Thalantyr. A supposed powerfull mage guarded by 2 flesh golem. We sold some items to him and continued on our way west.

We finally reached the coast and there we met with shoal the neireid who killed tiax with her deadly kiss.  She quickly begged for her live and told us she had to do it for an ogre mage named Droth. We asked that she revive our fallen companion if we freed her. She accepted and summoned Droth to us. A volley of bullet and dagger killed him before he had the chance to reach cast or reach any of us. The deal was made and tiax came back to us. We also gained a powerfull helmet that i gave to kagain(helmet of def +1sav throw and 20% res to fire acid and cold)

Ninoe update:

The hordes of kobolds in the depths of the mines were worrisome and frightening. Going step by step we faced many goblin guards and goblin archers. Left and right the party was thinned out as Minsc and Jaheira were pinned down by arrows. Ninoe and Imoen kept a far distance and managed to dispatch their foes while Khalid kept them at bay. Finally, in almost the deepest crevice of the mine they found an entrance guarded by a goblin shaman. He cast sleeping and blinding spells and imoen fell asleep. Khalid was blinded, but the brave party of three prevailed by careful dart throwing of Ninoe. She took down first the shamans guards and finally, after Khalid gobbled up many healing draughts whilst fending off the goblins, Imoen woke up. Together they managed to kill the goblin shaman who ran out of spells to cast and fought on with a small poisonous sword. The goblin army was taken down and the party went back to nashkel to revive the fallen.

Back into the mines, the party finally braved the door to the lowest reaches where a fortified vestment of goblins blocked their path. It took some time to lure them out and break through before they could enter the lair of the goblin boss. Unexpectedly it turned out to be a half-orc man called Mulahey who controlled the goblins. Although he rallied them into a frenzy and summoned some skeletons. Minsc and Khalid focused on Maluhey and slayed him when he was begging for mercy. There was no time to give peace since the goblins were still fighting the party. In an unfortunate event, Jaheira who was focusing on goblin archers got shot back by one of them and died. Minsc went into a rage but being unable to calm him down and get him to drink a healing draught, he fell to a goblin elite. The party faught on and managed to prevail without further casualties. They looted the goblins and the chest in the mine and took the mage Xan into their fold. Together they bakced out of the mines again and went to Nashkel to regain their strength and raise the fallen.

 Tana Bondo's little fellowship

Well it seem that after my streak of succes and excellent tanking from kagain i had to run in a little bit of badluck. Luckily no harm done permenantly. Right after killing the ogre magi Droth We encountered a pack of ghouls and half ogre.

We managed to kill most of the half ogre who were ahead of the ghoul before Kagain failed is save agaisnt a ghoul's hold. Needless to say that 6 ghoul +1 half ogre all hitting an held guy doesnt end well. Kagain's bone were broken and is limbs gnawed on. Montaron who was also at the front right next to kagain had quite a surprised when everybody's attention turned to him. Luckily he avoided a few hit and managed to run away. Tiax took thing in charge and summoned his ghast though it only managed to draw the attention of 1 ghoul. The rest was still running after the group. We managed to kill the remaining half ogre with bullet and dagger thrown at him and then continued to run away from the ghoul. We continued running and using a hit n run tactic by stopping to send a volley of bullet, dagger and bolt and slowly took them all down.

We decided it was best to hurry to rez kagain has a tank is much needed so we headed straight for beregost's temple. Before reaching our destination we were ambushed by hobgobelin. Quayle and tiax armor is gone and half the goblin have bows which stressed me out a lot. Tiax managed to cast a fear and 3 hobgobelin were running around scarred. Quayle decided to use just invis and laugh at tiax for being stupid. Montaron and Alora both took out their primary target with 1 bolt/dagger while Tana Chanted. Tiax got critical hit just after he casted fear and was 2 hp away from death and another goblin was going toward him. Alora and montaron immediatly changed target and took out the ranged hobgobelin that was on tiax and then a volley of bullet was  fired on the last hob that was charging tiax.

After all this excitement we finally rezzed kagain but while giving kagain is gear back i equipped him with the cursed girle of mas/fem :o. The group now back together we decided to go rest a bit at beregost. After this fine rest we encountered a little girl saying someone is looking for me. Intrigued i go meet this Person. It seemed it was just a officer of the flaming fist buying scalp. I sell her what i gathered and be on my way.

Right as i get back to travelling to the coast i get ambushed by 4 worgs. They looked tougher than i expected. Kagain was busy with 1 while montaron and alora tried finishing 1 down at range. Quayle was quicky ambushed by one of the worg and almost die to the first attack. Quayle panicked at the sight of his own blood and run off. Tiax is also quickly ambushed but he manage to command the first worg to reach him but a second worg is after him.  Seeing as tiax is in trouble alora and montaron change target and finish off the wolf that is attacking tiax. During this time Tana manage to LOH quayle before he is hit again. Tiax quickly tried to command the wolf chasing down Quayle but the one he had just commanded woke up and immediatly kill him. Tana proceed to tank this worg and then montaron and alora proceed to kill it. Kagain finally manage to kill the worg that he was on since the start and this end the ambush.

Repeat. Temple->Beregost->rest lol. Changing tactic slightly i decide that montaron shouldnt be at the front has its way too risky so i bought the crossbow of speed. And now back to coast lol.

No ambush this time and now proceed to continue exploring the area. We meet a similar group that caused the death of kagain but this time its 3 ogre berserker + 5-6 ghoul. Chnaging tactic kagain stayed in front of the group and quayle lauch a web which get every enemy i can see. We pick them off 1 by 1 and get our revenge.

Last post for Exeat:
- completed mines pretty easily, though Daveorn killed Imoen with a fireball
- did all the normal BG city quests up to exploring Iron Throne, then joined the hunt for the Grey Clan. Saved the Friendly Arm and activated the mold golem. At the Beregost Inn got teleported into another battle. Things seemed to be going my way when the game ended suddenly.

No indication of how Exeat died, but as he had 117 HP at the time and had high elemental resistances I imagine it was some sort of instant kill. I reloaded the battle and confirmed that he did get damaged by a Power Word Kill spell, even though he was protected by death ward. That seems a bit unfair, but I suppose is the penalty for playing with mods installed (which must have altered the spell so that it is no longer blocked by death ward). Next time I suppose I'll have to keep the main character well out of the way or use up magic shielding potions / scrolls for each fight (I had noticed before that opposition spell casters were sometimes able to target party members with improved invisibility on, so that gives no guarantee of protection).

Good luck to everyone else.

Hard luck Grond0.
Dragonslayer went to the school, but every time he entered the game crashed. Mod conflict probably. Did Durlag's Tower above ground. The ghost almost ended the game but not quite. With my mods he is quite a lot more difficult. Helped Chelak with the result that Dynahir can now cast Cloudkill!! Now off to deal with the Greyclan. I will pick up Drizzt on the way as I have never been able to do that area withour reloading.
