Yo,
I recently sent an email to EA and they sent a reply back to me saying to post it on the game forums and, seeing as for some reason I cant post on the ME2 forum, so I am posting the whole thing I sent here so someone from bioware can read it. Just so you know I'm copying and pasting it so it wont be changed in any way from when I sent it:
I have owned Mass effect 2 since it came out earlier this year and I was wondering if was possible for me to ask something of EA or Bioware. I love Mass effect 2 (ME2), and Mass effect 1 (ME), and like the fact that I can copy a characters over to ME2 from ME but there are a few things that I do not like that has been implemented in the game.
First I do not like that if I choose to make a ME2 character instead of transferring one from ME the automatic backstory is that Shepard let the council die to beat the Harbinger. I do not like, and I am sure many others do so as well, the fact that my shepards backstory is chosen for me as this ruins the exprience of immersing myself in the game and makes me feel alienated from my character if I wanted to save the council instead. I was hoping if options would be made available in a later patch that would allow people to make their own choice of what happened in ME, rather than playing ME from the beginning over and over again on each character, as this can be rather frustrating if you want to start playing ME2 straight away rather than play ME to get the ending you want so it will happen in ME2.
Second I dont know why but if I have chosen to be nice to Conrad verner in ME and he appears in ME2 he is there but he says that I put a gun in his face when I know that I did no such thing in ME. I dont know if this is a glitch or if this is supposed to happen for more story explanation on why he's there. By the way Conrad Verner is a great Character that you have created, among the mass amount of characters, and I hope to see him again as he is great comic relief.
Thirdly I was hoping if it would be possible to label the different eye colours in the character creation screen as sometimes it is hard to make out what the different colours are. I want to make it so I feel completely immersed in this great game so I want to choose the eye colour I want rather than to pick an eye colour and find out it isnt the one I wanted. I also have this problem in Dragon age, but I dont know if that could be sorted here or if I should send another email, please tell me if this is the case.
Finally I hope that there will be a patch that will allow people to alter their characters from ME in ME2 as sometimes, after playing it on ME or ME2 you can find errors in the characters face that you wish to be recitified but you cannot change them.
These questions about Mass Effect 2 are what I hope will be answered in the reply back to me. I know that this email may not be read in detail or taken notice of as its only one fans opinion but please read it this email and at least consider the points I have asked and put across. I love the Mass effect series and hope that these, or other great DLC or patches, will continue making this game into the best game of 2010 and onwards. Thank for reading this email and I hope you read the sincerity when I say that Bioware is the best games company that has ever existed and I hope you guys continue to make great games in the future. I believe that you can.
Your faithfully,
Kylkye

1: that's just the way default ME2 Shepard is designed for newcomers
2: well-known bug
3: design flaw I think
4: you can alter your appearance at the start of ME2

1: While I do agree that a brief questionnaire would be appreciated in order to pick some of the events of ME1 would be nice, I can see why they didn't do that. It's meant to be played that way.
2: It's a bug caused by the way the whole Conrad Verner event ended. From what I've read at other sites, it's caused by the save game flagging the event as being resolved by both intimidation and charm. ME2 seems to default to the 'Intimidate' option.
3: Well, the eye color thing in ME2 is a lot easier to see than in the last one, so I don't see the need to complain. Yes, it has no labels for the exact color, but if you wanna "immerse yourself" then just look in a mirror and see what color your eyes are and match it as close as you can.
4: This, I would agree with. It would be nice if, as an expensive option who's price would be REALLY high to keep people from just doing it 'on the fly', we could change shep's appearance if only once. I seem to have this problem of, when I make a character it looks good, but when I actually go to play as them, their face seems to turn to garbage. I always find one feature I wish I'd done differently. But eh, oh well...
