Add Velmar's Tileset Creator to your tileset creation tools.
It is a set of scripts for 3dsmax and somewhat limited fools (same set of scripts) for gmax. It allows you to directly edit the .SET file from within 3dsmax, adding tiles to the set, editing the entries for those tiles.
It allows you to directly load groups from within 3dsmax.
It also allows you greater control in creation of minimaps for your tiles.

Excellent list. Thumbs up! I nearly thought you didn't get NWN Carottes, but then I followed the link labelled MDL Compiler... You haven't missed anything I have in my utils folder. :-)

Tabular Framework is very useful for large tlk tables I find. I prefer tlkEdit for most anything else. Still just putting worthwhile options out there is good.

A couple tools I use in mass model conversion. Editing filenames and internal references. Useful File Utilities.

Mass file copying/creation. Fileboss. I can provide links later if needed.

Resource-wise you might want to throw up a link to cgtextures.com which is invaluable for photo sourcing when you don't feel like going out with a camera yourself (and even has a bunch of handily pre-tiled photos to work with).

Oh, and thumbplug tga is a useful tool that lets you see thumbnails of textures in Windows

The chances of this one going down again is very low - using the free hosting from my DNS host, but they give a lot of space (10gb storage, 300gb transfer?!). Did some CSS mucking to remove the banner ad they inject at the top though. :D

I vote for this to become a sticky.

Since we dont seem to have any Moderators taking an active part on the NWN1 boards, how do we go about this?

Ben, thanks for getting all these links in one place.  While NWN Carottes is a very handy program in itself, the compiler it comes with is the original Torlack build which is not as robust in comparison to this one uploaded  by Script Wrecked to the NWVault.  From a comment Bannor Bloodfist made, the one was the one used by DLA and it "correctly handles animations in mdl files".  The Torlak build is very, very old.

Quick Caveat about tabular framework: If you put in Color coding(I have uses Axe's Killer TLk to do this) Tabular framework will strip it out.

Inside of a package called custom content essentials on the vault there is a file I've found useful that you might consider for your resource section. It's a spreadsheet that details what every entry in every 2da file is for. The spreadsheet file is (unsurprisingly) called 2da.xls.

I am surprised that you haven't got paint.net on your list as I find that it compliments the gimp. There are things that easier to do in one package than the other and vice-versa.

Personally I don't use 2da editors/ set editors etc. As these are plain text files I tend use a text editor for such things. One of the best (if not the best) that I have found is notepad++. Actually I find it has more uses than I've already mentioned such as hacking/editing the ASCII versions of models.

For combining 2 2da files I've found that winmerge is very usefull as it's simply a matter of comparing the 2 2da files in winmerge and copying the entries that you want from one side to the other.

Hope that you find this helpful.
