Anyways i hope the game doesn't end up a flop, and that this isn't the final build of the graphics ending because based on those two screenshots, they don't really look like improvements over the original game...

I hope the sister plays a big part in the game and isn't just another companion.
Uhm, companions do play a large part in the game if the PC can interact with them and they have banter and dialogues or additional quests and stories connected with the decisions the main character does.
Unless, by "just another companion" you meant an NPC mage who will only support the PC in battle.

Of course she is not recruitable or else she wouldn't be sounding out your (former?) dwarven companion about your past exploits, would she?Catsith wrote...
If Cassandra is the black-haired woman from the concept art, I certainly hope she's recruitable.

Maybe she becomes a companion AFTER that.

'Compare and Contrast' I believe is the term used for this; comparing pre-alpha screenshots to DA: O, and seeing that the graphics resemble it a good deal already, and contrasting with how it'll end up. Could also be used to show off the new stylized look of the game? Who knows, but I digres, they look fairly good for Pre-Alpha.

especially about Hawke's sister Bethany. I wonder if she is Hawke's older or younger sister.......that would give us an idea of Hawke's age.
Also, knowing her name will help me come up with a name for my Hawke.
And, it makes me even more excited to play Hawke as a mage!

Bethany: mage sister of Hawke
Ha! As it happens, Bethan was one of the names I had on my list for Hawke. (Yes, the game will not be out for more than seven months. Yes, I already have a list of possible names for my first character. No, Mike is not one of them.) I guess I'll go strike that off. At least I know I'm looking in the right language group.
I just hope she doesn't get kidnapped after the first hour and then we have to spend most of the game getting her out of prison ...

- The decisions taken in Origins by the player will also affect his successor. The beginning of Dragon Age 2 even runs parallel to Dragon Age: Origins and shows already familiar scenes and events from a different perspective.
- Anyone who has played Dragon Age: Origins on the Xbox 360 can, continue to Dragon Age 2 on the PC or PlayStation 3 with all the consequences intact. How exactly does Bioware still holds a secret, but we suspect that it may involve the profiles stored on the BioWare Social Network.
- It tells the story of special companions to the new hero will take on his travels. The narrators take turns -- after all, the story is played over a period of 10 years.
- In Dragon Age 2, the Mage will come to enjoy the cool of slow-motion finishing moves - previously reserved for melee classes.
- Not only is there much more for melee combos, but even your Mage's spells can now be specialized and thus adapt to every possible combat situation.
- Hawke: The male or female main character of Dragon Age 2 and leads the player through a 10-year history.
- Bethany: Hawke's sister and Mage, she supports her brother (or sister?) with fire spells
- Cassandra: The Inquisitor with a burning interest in the exploiting Hawke.
- Varric: The dwarf accompanying Hawke on his travels; he is the main narrator of Dragon Age 2.
- Flemeth: The mighty shapeshifter and mother of Morrigan from Dragon Age: Origins is also in Dragon Age 2 again (with the party?)
Reading over that translation again, if they're really going for a multi-narrated storyline (one companion being your sister), then that's a rather brilliant use of fully voiced dialogue. You get to know much more about your main character Hawke and the choices you've made from their perspective while discerning your companions' habits and personalities in a way that doesn't require dialogue trees, dialogue wheels, or static character animations.
Because it had little color to begin with.Marionetten wrote...

Does that mean a female Hawke can also engage in twincest?More like wincest. Perhaps there is hope for Dragon Age 2 after all.

If this is all true...
Our decisions from DA:O will carry over into DA2! That is something lots of players have been dying for, me amongst them!
Also, the whole mage-finishing-moves is something I've been hearing a lot in thgese forums; and the possibilitie to visit old places from DA:O... it's spetacular!
This has surely washed away any doubts I could have about DA2 or any dislikness for its new images. Should I vote again on my own poll about "DA2 excitment", I would now grade it with ten more nines (9999999999999999999999999999999999) from 1 to 10. (for those that didn't get it, take a look at "RBM94 is...".

Sir Karl wrote...
Some characters:
Bethany: mage sister of Hawke
Cassandra: inquisitor with interest in Hawke
Varric: dwarven friend of Hawke and narrator
Flemeth will reappear
I think it's also worth noting that Bethany is FIRE mage. As the article reads, "supports her brother in the battle with fire spells." This makes it seem that elements may be specific to specialization instead of a general "Primal" branch of spells.
Also, [rather exciting for me] Flemeth doesn't just "reappear" it says she's "with the party." That makes it seem like she'd be a companion.

I didn't say they need to provide better graphics. Graphics are hardly significant for an RPG.ald0s wrote...
Ecael is right they need to provide better grafics and i think that dragon age with texture mods looks better then these screens that we have seen until now
