Why is DA2 "seemingly" going to a more Cartoony look?

I think BioWare needs to go to CD Projekt and ask them about the new engine they are using for The Witcher 2.

Just imagine Dragon Age 2 running on that engine. Yum.

Well These images obviously are not the final product; when it gets closer to the release date the images will be more improved.

That's a screenie from when DA was originally announced. About 2 and a half years before it came out. Not 7 months before.

And?

I'm not the type to nitpick detailed graphics, but it's much easier to improve them on an existing game engine.

I need more pics to judge. The graphics are still in the early stages.

While I quite enjoy Samurai Jack...I don't think DA2 should be going for any visual style that brings that to mind.

We have the DA Flash game for that ;)

And I have to agree with the mindset that an existing graphic engine has/should be cheaper than building a new one.

But like many have said, we do need more examples and info to make a concise decision. I'm basing my opinion and concern on what we have thus far...and the "direction" the images seem to be leading to.

Thx for all the replies and opinions guys!!
