If possible, maybe those who've already copied their posts to the other forum could delete their obsolete entry in this one in order not to attract new posters and so that the forum eventually becomes empty again. We could then suggest that it is removed in favor of "PWs & Multiplayer", to end all confusion, or that it's assigned a different, clear purpose. Just a suggestion.

Hm, how *do* you delete posts? Is that even possible here?

Apparantly not, forget what I said then. It would be nice to have the option to delete posts though...

Well...I actually think I've found quite a good purpose for thoose thread. Lets say you have a guild or community that is not specifically aimed at a certain PW...then I think it fits here...

It's not that I wan't to monopolize this section or anything but I think my Community of NWN1 players on X-Fire pretty much qualifies for this forum section.

It is a bit sad to see it drown in PW announcements...so hopefully like Olivier said maybe you who posted a copy of your threads in the correct section could remove it from this one please...

Why not both? Ye Olde Tavern was for all things NWN, and lets face it, the strength of NWN is the PW and Custom Content so having two sections for it should be fine.

And to be honest since the old forums this was for things like PWs and such there is no reason to not assume we could not use both again as the PWs Section is more for server admins to get help too I think.

About server admin it is a little bit more unclear. I would actually like to ask Bioware to clarify on that matter...and before I even asked for a separate section for the forum admins...but guess they want to have similar to NWN2..hmm wonder where they have server admin things in the NWN2 forums....

That is how I see the PW Board here though i followed suit like everyone else and posted my junk there I plan to post here on the Ye Old more than anywhere else and way more than there.

So basically yes...both fan pages, links and such would be good here. As well as PWs. i agree that seeing 20 freaking postings of the same world annoy me. I try and stay to the same thread when promoting my world except when players ask for where to go. And even then I feel a bit spammish.



Maybe it would be better for people looking for a world or those of us suggesting our worlds just post a link to our own forums when they ask or we have a sticky for people to ask for suggestions instead of posting new ones continually.

Edit: You took all that text from the old NWN1 forum. Where you SHOULD be looking instead is the old NWN2 forum as they have actually applied the NWN2 style of structure to the new NWN1 forum. You follow right?

And just to be clear, you naming the NW1 Community on XFire then making choices as I have said in private show a lack of honesty as you stated yourself you choose the favorite servers for this NWN Community based on where you like to play. That would be like me making a Community of Football Players and then saying the Patriots and Vikings are the best and we will watch them and them only. That is not a Community. That is a specific fan club of a specific set of teams. Not the true NWN Community itself. It seems to me that you are trying again to force people to conform to your own desires rather than a established set of sections.



While not perfect there are several people besides yourself Superfly who do know what they are doing as well and find it a bit disingenuous to suggest we do what you say without taking others views into consideration. I am hoping that it is just the lack of emotions that come forth from a wall of text rather than a lack of understanding of others and such like...maybe you will understand that as well...hopefully...

So what do you suggest I should call my community instead? There is already a heap of other NWN guild there but mine is the only pure NWN1 guild that is dedicated to multiple PW's and as I said everyone is free to request that I add their server to the list, write more or less what they want in my news section and the forum that is ALSO visible on the front page.

I know you are just whining because I didn't put your server there yet and this wont help in my evaluation of your server...

Honestly from reading your stuff on servers and your disregard for role playing servers that is fine with us. When I asked what criteria you use for placing servers since you had two dead action servers linked on the favorite server page you informed me that you picked them on the basis of what server you liked best.

I would suggest naming it to reflect that as in Superflys Favorite Servers.

You seem to forget that when you encompass a name such as NWN Community you as a individual lose who you are. If it was just servers that were most heavily populated then City of Arabel, Higher Ground, FRC, and Aerlith should be there.

It is misrepresenting the Community itself at large and that is the crux of the conversation. Your feelings towards myself and other "heavy" role player servers are well known. I would though strive to put that aside and do the right thing as I have done. I admited I was wrong on the PW posting and took steps to fix it. You still have not tried to fix your mistake. In having a Community for NWN you are more than just a group yet you exclude more than several servers, and basically any that you dislike, is in itself a incorrect postion to take.

While we have not suffered at all it does make one wonder how many servers have suffered because of your stances. And that is what I find wrong.

You don't really want to re-start that debate, do you? I'm willing to concede to a "tastes great / less filling" position on NWN PWs vs. Single Player modules, but to suggest that PWs (and therefore by implication not SP) is "the strength of NWN" is another story.

The old forum had:
Guilds & Registry: Ye Olde Tavern
Server Admin

None of these had either PW or Multiplayer Module in the name. There was a short info text below the headers though explaining what the forums are for. A lot of people read them or already knew Ye Olde Tavern was for PW & MP: And a lot of people didn't. Looking for a forum to post about PW and MP they found none with a name that did clearly fit and so they posted in General Discussion and Module Discussion.

The new forum has:
Guilds & Registry: Ye Olde Tavern
PWs & Multiplayer

There is no "Server Admin" anymore and it's a matter of definition where questions about server administration should now be posted. It's also a matter of definition where we should post about PWs & MP. Those who are accustomed to Ye Olde tavern will continue posting there, those who are looking for PW & MP in the forum title without knowing what "G&R: Ye Olde Tavern" is will now post in PW & MP. It doesn't make matters easier that we don't have any explanations below the forum titles anymore.

With these NWN forums here just getting started, now we'd have the opportunity to end all confusion and make them more user friendly. It's not a matter of SuperFly_2000 vs. TSMDude or a matter of Ye Olde Tavern faction vs. PW & MP faction or PW/MP vs. SP mods. It's about how people who are not familiar with the forum customs yet will still find the right place to post so that forums don't get cluttered with misguided posts and moderators have less work.

Pushing through our own opinions and tastes is not going to help, and neither is just ignoring the problems at hands. Let's keep a level head and discuss this as a community, trying to find the best compromise. And keep in mind it's mostly about the names not about merging forums or depriving them of their original function.


My favored suggestion would be to rename the two forums in question to "Server Admin" and "PW & Multiplayer: Ye Olde Tavern" (with the latter keeping the same function it had when it was called "Guilds & Registry").

Another would be to request a third forum, so that we could have "Server Admin", "PW & Multiplayer: Ye Older Tavern" and something like "NWN Guilds" if that is requested by a larger group of people. The important thing is that we have a discussion about it here (not an argument), with other members chiming in and making more suggestions.

Just to clarify, I consider Custom Content also to be modules and just as a strong selling point as PWs.

Sorry for not being clear on that.

Most of the modules I have played required dling haks to do them. My preference of course is PWs to build but in all honesty I dig playing Custom Content Modules myself if that makes sense.
