If you did not do anything then your voice would not be heard and there would be no changes.

For example Blizzard was going to force you use real names and id on there forums put people spoke up so blizzard pulled it.

There's a difference between constructive criticism, and complaining.

Complaining is good if not for it we would not even have free rights today or any benfits.

True to a point...but most complaints so far concern fundamental stuff (graphics, voiced PC...). There really is no chance of those things to be changed as that would mean remaking most of the game -thus most complaints so far are mostly one thing: futile.

Small stuff might still be changeable, though.

Some are trying to put down others with different opions then themselves, others are politely asking the more vocal and hysterical complainers to calm down and wait for more information before denouncing the game as "ruined forever."

Green: if they decided to go back to silent PC, it's probably not too late, unless they've already signed the contrats with the VAs, since other characters respond just as if you talked.

The game comes out in 8 months. They aren't going to change anything in that time frame.

Complaining is alright, as long as its done in a civilized manner instead of "BIOWARE, TEH RUINED MY GAME!"

But they didn't sit on their asses and complain, they told them that they don't like what they are doing and gave suggestions, unfortunately they didn't follow those suggestions, but that's just how it works.

Some are just annoyed at some people who scream that the game is ruined when we have so little information

And, some complaints are actually based on nothing but what the person complaining thinks they are hearing.  For example, "I can't choose a name for my character" because you have a preset surname...just like you did in the original game!

You are comparing fickle Bioware fans, that are complaining over the scraps of information Bioware have decided to hand to the press to the fight for civil liberties?

Honestly the majority of people in these threads need to grow up.

Its annoying to see so many people rip on mass effect also. "Oh teh noes bioware tweeked the gameplay and main character, the DA2 is made by bioware, OH MEH GAWD ITS GANNA SUCK LIKE MASS EFFECT HURR DURR!"

DA2 does not equal Mass effect guys.

most of the complaints are about rumors, not facts about the game.

This is spot on. The basic direction for DA2 has been decided. At this point any little changes they make for the hardcore fans is just throwing you a bone because they know it will take minimum effort to get you to rebuy their product.

These real decisions are made in board meetings by idiots in suits who are trying to justify their job title. Their goal is not to appease the current DA:O owners but find ways to attract the ones who didn't buy the first game. That usually means watering (dumbing) the game down. Thats generally why its rare that a great product ever gets better on the second try. The 21st century rule of business is to play to the lowest common demominator.

There's a massive difference between unbiased criticism based on reasonable facts and unfounded accusation. Which is what the majority of this forum has descended into. Its boring, its not constructive and any good ideas, or genuine criticisms that do manage to shine above the dross get buried.

Sure they can, they can cut a bunch of content and charge $14.99 for it as DLC :?:?:innocent::blush:

The constant ripping on ME2 (A game I loved) have gotten to me a little.  Particularly when everyone is trying to use it as an example of how Bioware should not make a sequel.  I liked it better than the first.

That being said, I don't think DA2 is oing to be ME2 fantasy addition.  I don't think a voiceover and a dialogue wheel (Which if anything sounds better than the one in the ME or ME2) makes the game Dragon Effect.  Not to mention the combat is supposedly the same for PC so it won't be a hack and slash.  I doubt it will be even on the consoles.

it depends on the situation.

sometimes it pays to complain, sometimes it gets you nothing, you have to intelligently select when you have a chance to make a change or when you are just bieng annoying-

i think for the changes already announced (the FEW that there are), its pointless.

to make claims about wants/desires or fear that the games overall tone will lose something dao had is still valid.

they are not going to cut the main voice actor or put in multiple origins or allow you to download and play with your existing dao warden at this late juncture.

but demanding romances with one or more individuals or group romance options or being able to have a golem party member or darkspawn party member or have your main character urinate on trees to get a special boost to his/her stats in that area is not set and done and still an option.

LOL!

I dislike seeing ME2 get trashed, but I guess it's something you just have to put up with if you're going to read this forum (it's not the ME2 forum, and sadly the game is now the "scapegoat" for some people).

As someone who designs commercial software for a living; I'm completely fine with my customers complaining. It helps me make a better product. Yes, sometimes it does get you down, but this is a business and I'm in it to make money, so as we say down here "Harden up flower."

I wish Bioware would work like Stardock, anyone who preorders the game gets instant access to beta where developers listen to the fans suggestions and shape the game for them.
