But something must be wrong or uncomplet.

The Timeline from Game Informer concerning 8:99 Blessed Age

"8:99 Blessed Age: Dragons were thought to have been made extinct
by the infamous dragon hunters of Nevarra almost three centuries before,
but a High Dragon is spotted on a feeding rampage over the Frostback
Mountains. Even though scholars claimed it a terrible omen, the Chantry
declared it to be a sign of the Orlesian Empire’s glory and named the
next century the Dragon Age. The rebels of Ferelden, however, saw it as a
sign of their nation’s rebirth and successfully threw the Orlesians out
three years later
."

And now the time line from the Prima Guide CE  (p345):
"8.99 Blessed: The previous several years have seen two dragon flights ranging out of the Frostback Mountains and Orkney Mountains, even though that dragons had been hunted to extinction by Nevarran dragon hunters during the Steel Age.The dragons devastate the countrysides in Orlais and Nevarra, and all attempts to slay them end in disaster.
Despite the devastation, some see the return of dragons to Thedas as a glorious sign-Chantry scholars, however, claim that this is the worst of omens. As the Blessed Age draws to a close, they name Dragon Age, saying that it will be an age violence and upheaval
.

So, how many dragons does it remain?
Does the dragon of the cover and its concept art is a true one or is it Flemeth?
Where are the Orkney Mountains?I can't see them in the map.

a Grey Warden survivor united the kingdom against the darkspawn and slew the Archdemon at the Battle of Denerim, and was declared the Hero of Ferelden

<_<

That's not what happened in my game. Loghain did it. Is this canon or something ?

Don't be dense, they're making a generalized statement to say that *you* knocked it down.

Yeah I was wondering about that too. None of the qunari we see in DAO have horns, and the "qunari helmets" don't have horns either... hmm...

The Arishock, are prolly the ones with horns, if they even have horns, as there the Alpha Qun lol

Either way, being a mage is gonna be interesting.

Ok if this happens I'm totally sold on Dragon Age 2!! and it looks like playing as a mage is going to be extra fun Posted Image

The whole division of Chantry from the one up north to South sounds a lot like the Christian theory with the division of Catholic and Protestant churches and of course the Chantry is very similiar to Christianity.

This game has some awesome lore, its awesome.

I hope they let us be arcane warriors again, being nigh on invincible and shooting lightning out of a sword while wearing the heaviest armours in the game was fun, if not very lithuim draining.

The same dragon went on 2 killing rampages; one in the Frostback Mountains and one in the Orkney Mountains. It moved from one to the other.

The dark side surely has a sense of humor, considering the latest blight's archdemon
once was the Tevinter deity of beauty

It actually supposed to be like Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy, with the Imperium=The Byzantine Empire.

Anyway, my one hope is to reunite the Imperium with Kirkwall. Although that is an odd name for a city of the Imperium.

So the people of Thedas worshipped the Old Gods, who made the Tevinters to enter the Golden City, where the Maker resided, unworshipped ... largly... Then the invaders were cast down to become darkspawn, searching for their imprisoned gods somewhere in the deeps. But after the first Blight the people must have stopped worshipping the Old Gods, considereing they were Archdemons.

And how come the people worshipped the Old Gods, when the Maker had imprisoned them under the earth or somewhere. Wouldn't it be more reasonable that the people worshipped the Maker then, or were the Old Gods still more powerful? Or was the Maker like ... the christian god, who stayed away from the world of the mortals and only cared for the souls after they died?

This would explain how the Old Gods could maybe offer the people more of a worldy reward for service than the Maker who only rewards the worthy after they died. Also the mages speak of the Black City which is supposed to be in the Fade. When did the mages find it? I also want to know where the Maker went when he left it hehe. Questions, questions.

Personally, I thought of the two chantries to be like the Catholic and Orthodox Churches when we first heard of the split.

That means that Hawke either must wrestle Kirkwall and the Freemarches from the Templar's grip, or work with them, wich would be especially difficult if he is a mage. Interesting also the thought what he was doing in Lothering then and if ít had to do with the Templars there ...

Funny enough, I was actually thinking something along those lines. Kind of like how orangutans work-- they don't develop flanges and certain other characteristics until they've established dominance in their territory. Or something like that, so I've read. Wild speculation, of course.

plus....your sister is a mage...and we can't change that.  So, I'm assuming that's going to come into play in the story somehow.  Maybe your sister being a Mage affects your decision to leave Lothering.......

also....since the Templars control Kirkwall......it would be cool if there was a portion of the story where you and your sister had to "disguise" yourselves in the city so the Templars won't know your mages......maybe a period where you're forced to NOT use any magic whatsoever............lol

I......I......see potential in this story.......Posted Image

Hm I didn't read that about the sister yet, I was too exited about the timeline. Gonna do that now, think she could be the girl from the cover art?

...Qunari don't actually have horns. Nor do their cannons "fire thunder" - unless thunder is the new name for large cast-iron balls. They are, however, thinking men who would have invested a great amount of effort into psychological warfare. A simple horned helmet seen from a distance on an already giant man? Why, the poor stupid farmer types would flee and tell all sorts of tavern stories.

no....don't think she is.  In one of the threads about the German Article ( which revealed you have a sister ), there's a link to a pic of her I believe.  But I don't think she is the cover art girl.

I'm thinking that girl ( whoever her identity is ) will be the antagonist.......

Frostback Mountains seperate Ferelden from Orlais.  So it's likely the Orkney Mountains are in or around Nevarra.

Also, anyone else find it hilarious that the dragon went on a rage in Nevarra, of all places?

Female Qunari are supposed to have horns.  It's possible that Qunari do have horns, but the Beresaad--vanguard--have them removed to better...vanguardy?

This isn't WoW.  A flight, or rage, of a high dragon occurs when said dragon is about to bear a clutch of eggs.  Dragons reproduce in extremely high numbers, so when a high dragon is about to have her brood, she devastates the country side to bother rid the area of predators and to gain enough sustenance for her progeny.  They're compared to natural disasters--like category five hurricanes.

Well, no one made the Tevinter mages enter the Golden City.  We do know a number of them forcibly inserted their physical bodies into the Fade--which took a third of all the lyrium or two thirds of it in the Empire, and this at a time where the dwarves were at their full strength and Tevinter was ruled by mages, so that would be *a lot*.  However, what exactly happened afterwards, no one knows.

As for why they worshipped Old Gods...well, the Tevinter Mages worshipped them, so they possibly made all others worship them as well.  Who's gonna argue with a mage that can control your mind and whose mere appearance makes entire armies route?

Another thing to consider is that, possibly, the Old Gods, Maker, and the Golden City's corruption was entirely made up by the Chantry.  After all, the Chantry despised Tevinter and the mages who ruled it.  By spreading such a story through the masses, they could accomplish two goals--subvert the authority of the Tevinter mages and allow them to subjugate other mages where Tevinter had no authority.

Remember that the High Dragons seem to have somewhat of an influence on people.  Remember the cult?  And Old Gods are rumored to have taught mages magic in the first place.

Lastly, the Black City is the tainted Golden City.  In fact, you can see it in game, I believe--it's the epicenter of the Fade.  All masses revolve around the Black City, like a sun, always the same distance from it.  No one can get there, not even, from what I understand from Justice, the denizens of the Fade.

so erm..if the tevinter mages got to the City once...what's stopping them from doing it again ?is that why the Chantry watches them so closely ?
