Bioware have done a very stupid thing.
They had a awesome and unique game where you picked every but your surname where most of it was flexible.
And butchered it.
It was like giving us gold then saying, despite everyone liking gold, heres copper for the next one.
How hard would it be to keep the same set up and improve and add more races and classes.
They would not even have had to do much to the programing. Just make it better.
Champions Of Norrath series for PS2 is similer to Dragon Age Origins.
You can make your race, gender, appearance, name. class is based on your race you pick.
Champions Of Norrath Return To Arms is like Champions Of Norrath but better.
You can even import your character from the first game. It follows closely the plot from the first game.
Dragon Age Origins is way better than Champions Of Norrath.
But it proves that it is not at all hard to make a game to winning formula and improve it without alienating fans and without fragging it up.
Or being lazy and making it Mass Effect with a fantasy skin.
How fricking hard would it have been to do what they did with Champions of Norrath and making Dragon Age Origins 2 the same but better?
Not hard at all.
Instead they give us this half assed rubbish.
I have seen no one saying they wanted only one race or locked into one character. I have seen many people saying they wanted more races and classes.
Many saying they wanted the Qunari. I want the Qunari. They look interesting.
Yes there are games with characters you play as. But the thing is.
They are made that way from the start. No one expects them to be diferent and it works fine. There was never a predecesor that you could make your own name, race, class, appearance.
They were always one character you played as and maybe changed their names.
No Atelier Iris or Star Ocean game is so diferent it's fans would not buy it!
Dragon Age Origins is amazing game. It is unique.
And seriously. What kind of Dungeons and Dragons style RPG, a style that lets you pick your character down to tiny details, restricts you to one freaking race?!
And while we are on it. What kind of a freaking name is Hawke?! It sounds like a cheesy fantasy film.
In fact there is a fantasy film called Hawke The Slayer.
What the frag possesed them to make you play as a human, not change your name and only change your class, and gender?
I have no interest in playing as a human and I refuse to.
I will only play as a Elf or Dwarf or other race in games I can pick the race.
I only have Elves or Dwarves in Dragon Age Origins.
And what is this bull about a voiced character.
The character does talk in Dragon Age Origins.
What you want masses of cut scenes were you wade through a 'cinematic experiance'.
There are too many of those in games anyway.
Some games even make them interactive and some you can only tell they are cut scenes because you cannot move in them. Bioshock series has only a few cut scenes and they are very immersive games.
I want action and gameplay not a load of cutscenes!
Especially at the expense of the game and its options.
Dragon Age Origins is cinematic, immersive, dramatic. It has some none interactive cutscenes that are great.
It strikes me they will be paying some expensive gimmicky actors to voice Hawke,
So they have no excuse that Dragon Age Origins cost a lot more.
Dragon Age Origins 2, if they had actually made it instead of this rubbish would not have cost so much more because they already had the set up.
The plot does not even sound heroic.
Dragon Age Origins. Be a Grey Warden, save Ferelden battle darkspawn. That is very heroic.
Mass Effect in a fantasy skin, not sorry, Dragon Age 2. A person who escaped the battle with the archdemon.
No darkspawn.
That is not heroic.
How it it even Dragon Age at all?
It isn't thats the answer.
The only thing Dragon Age about it is the name.
Some lazy idiot who clealry did not listen to the fans or read the forums just stuffed Mass Effect into a fantasy skin and put some of the things of Dragon Age Origins in.
But not enough obviously.
I am not buying this game. It looks total rubbish.
There is no Dragon Age 2.
It is Mass Effect in a fantasy skin.
