Agreed. The "incest causes mutations" argument is usually one used by people when they can't think of anything new to add to the discussion. (not an attack on those people who have done so thus far - I did say *usually*) The subject matter is far more complex on a social, historical and cultural level than science would boil it down to.
It always bothers me when the media uses the "it's considered taboo now" argument to justify ignoring or condemning historically accurate events. It is like people who complain they won't read anything American prior to the 1930s because people used racial terminology ... history doesn't go away because you don't like it and you cannot hold works from historical figures up to contemporary social standards. This *should* go for depictions of historical periods in media as well.
You, sir, are an utter genius.
What I find really odd is why is incest (or hints towards an incestuous relationship) seen as an acceptable topic in media such as books and film, but not in games? Is it because very few "big hit" titles have confronted it, or what?
Love, between two consenting adults, is a beautiful thing that should be cherished. Why should it matter who those two people are, whether brother/sister, two homosexual people, a man and a woman or otherwise? Why is it acceptable, in a game, to have a relationship between a Dwarf and a Human, but not between (example) two siblings?
