I'm with this. While I like necromancy and mind affecting spells, I thought Origins was too light on both. I'm not expecting D&D here. Just more spells with their own identity. For instance, Walking Bomb and Virulent Walking Bomb or Weakness and Miasma. I know VWB is better than WB but it's basically the same deal with added effects. Miasma is merely an aura of Weakness. The first two hexes are basically the same except Affliction Hex affects an area. Less of that sort of repetetition and more unique spells would be cool.

One of the most annoying things for me in DA:O was how there were three...THREE...different variants of spells that enchanted weapons with additional properties (Flame Weapons, Frost Weapons, and Telekinetic Weapons). I really wanted to use fire and ice but I never used that combination because I felt I would be waisting a point on a duplicate spell (and I completed the telekinetic tree too). That's why I love the idea of a branching talent/spell tree system where you can go down multiple paths on, say, the Weakness line.

Posted ImagePosted ImageIf you read the codex entry on the cardinal laws of magic, it explains that teleportation is impossible. It was a method of magic that Bioware long-age (and I do mean LONG ago) decided was impossible.


Hm.. desire demons seem to be able to do it, both in the Fade and the real world. (the Connor demon, specifically)

That one Arcane Horror in the Braecilian Ruins could do it. (possibly requiring those circles on the floor)

Possibly some others I've forgotten.

That codex entry also says life is finite regardless of magic, but that doesn't stop the likes of Avernus and Flemeth from trying to escape this maxim via magic.

shamanism! I love shamans in WoW (oh noes!) so something like

"Earth Shock" > "Frost Shock" > "Earth Shield" > "Feral Spirit" to contain all the best.

and something like "Totemist" with

"Searing Totem" > "Mana Tide Totem" > "Earth Elemental Totem" > "Totemic Mastery"
