So reading the timeline on game informer lead me to wonder about the Noble titles that peole hold in the Free Marches. It mentioned that Kirkwall is ruled by a Viscount which leads me to wonder if that is the standard title for the rulers of the various cities of the Free Marches. Also, how would a viscount compare to Ferelden noble titles? In Fereldent it's Bann-->Arl-->Teyrn-->King, so were would the Vicount be most equal too?

Well if they are city states, medieval Italian titles are the most likely.

Well, a Ferelden Arl roughly corresponded to an English Earl, and a Count also roughly corresponds to an Earl. A Bann, however, roughly corresponded to an English Baron... so purely going off that (which may not be relevant) one assumes that a Viscount is somewhere between an Arl and a Bann in status.Though whether the Free Marches use the titles "Arl" and "Bann" is anyone's guess. I'm thinking not.
