Wouldn't it be cool if the player's character could foster romances between two of the members in your group?  What'ya think?

I think that there needs to be more of Haer'Dalis and Aerie. So yes.

Now THAT is an interesting idea and one that should be explored in an RPG.

After all, the Dragon Age team has already shown they can do quite a bit as far as NPC character interaction with Origins.

I'm sure it would be much more involved to weave in a romance, but not at all impossible. It could add a lot to the game. Now imagine your character is romancing someone that another NPC in your party is romancing. You could have game-altering reprecussions there.

Yes.
Romances between party members should only occur if
a) The player steers two party members together
or
B) The two party members are not romanceable.

Well, a "romance" almost occurred between Sten and Morrigan, but once she learned how qunari consumate their love she backed off.

I liked the little competition between Haer'Dalis and the PC for Aerie in Baldur's Gate 2.
Its even more fun to role-play it as a half orc.

Now that you mention it, there certainly was a lot of sexual tension between Morrigan and Alistair. And Morrigan and Leliana...

I've given this some thought, too, but I think it's highly unlikely. Given that DA2's focus on the main character and "Hawke's story," I doubt that they'd do something that focuses on the NPCs so much.

This would be SO cool! It would be fun if Hawke could play matchmaker.

There was a bit of this in Baldur's Gate 2. Haer'dalis would romance Aerie whether or not the player chose to. If so, it led to conflict between him and a male protagonist. If not, his romance continued until she eventually dumps him. It was fun to watch. I wouldn't mind seeing something like that in DA2 or a future Dragon Age game.

That's what I suggested in the Bethany romance thread - her not romancing the PC, but one of the NPCs...

But that would take away all that modern games are: Masturbation aid for the bruised egos of thousands. But everything must revolve around the PC.

could be interesting too, your LI can actually cheat on you with your best buddy ...

Just imagine, Shepard before the suicide mission, commander office scene, Shepard enters and finds Tali and Garrus in his bed ....

the idea of bethany romancing one of the companions would be pretty awesome
and you chould choose whether to encourage it, break it up, or steal the love interest off of her and have some sibling rivalry Image IPB

Any NPC that gets in the way of my romancing gets beheaded.

No exceptions.

Which makes this idea even more attractive.

I enjoy conflict and competition, so yes, I completely support this. As long as I come out the supreme victor.

And if you pass the dexterity check you can catch them in the act and impale both with a spear. A poisoned spear. With small spikes.

Why those conditions?

I think two party members coming together without you "forcing" them together is more natural and emmersive. I also think a love triangle without the main character in the center would be very interesting.
