I just have this feeling that Bethany will only be around during the "tutorial" phase just like Ser Gilmore in the Human Noble Origin and just like Miari in Awakenings. Just a typical archetype for fantasy games seems to be you have a mentor or friend in the tutorial stage who teaches you and looks after you and then dies and its all up to you. Additionally since it starts in Lothering I think she'll probably get killed off in the attack. I wouldn't be at all surprised if she was.

Hawkes sister. She'll be a party member for the first part but like Gorim, Leske, Soris, Ser Gilmore, Tamlen etc they'll all die or be exiled or sent away etc. Its just a typical archetype for fantasy not just in games but fiction as well.

I'm willing to bet she sacrifices herself for you at the 3/4 point or, perhaps, it is in the ending and is similar to Alistair dying for you in Dragon Age.

She's a mage she won't die. Like someone said, could be kidnapped though.

Remember : Female Warriors always die at the start of the game. (Mhairi?)

Bethany will live at least until the end of the game. She will be the voice which remains you where you came from and tries to return Hawke to the goody-two-shoes path if s/he wanders off from it. She is the caring soul of the game.

ok betrayal works...just no "heroic sacrifice" in the beginning of the game..or something close to this...
