Hawkes sister. She'll be a party member for the first part but like Gorim, Leske, Soris, Ser Gilmore, Tamlen etc they'll all die or be exiled or sent away etc. Its just a typical archetype for fantasy not just in games but fiction as well.
How Long before Bethany dies, taking bets.

I put 5 dollars on her either dying in Lothering, first hour or so, or becoming the new host for Flemeth!

hey, that "host for flemeth" thing is not funny
... i don't know why people keep suggesting that...
i think flemeth's current white haired lady is already badass...
and besides, she gotta be a powerful mage for her to be a good host... and i doubt you'll have a powerful mage accompanying you at the beginning of the campaign...
though i really only hate this "possesed by flemeth" idea cause it sounds very possible

Yeah, she's toast, I bet she'll be turned into a Broodmother...which won't be good at the Hawke family reunions for obvious reasons (And I'm not talking about having to make 5 tons of potato salad just so others can have some).
If you're a side character in dark fantasy or horror, you're dead.

I so hope, she isn't just a cheap way to get the player to do stuff or go places he otherwise wouldn't have a motivation to do or go.
Perhaps it would be better, to kill her off early instead of spending half the game rescuing her(Imoen in BG2 anyone?).

Hey! There's nothing wrong in rescuing damsels in distress! It's a part of being a hero!Gerudan wrote...

Oh wait... I'm usually leaving Imoen in the Spellhold... nevermind...

I hope she is a regular character.
Yup. But, like I have already written in five or six other threads, only if she can take care of herself and doesn't get into trouble every time we get into some new place.

Priest-murdering rampage for the win. Very cathartic.
