Has it been said anywhere that DA2 somehow precludes Bioware from going back to Origins characters with some future game or content? Or continuing to release DLC for DAO even though DA2 is in play? I've played a franchise recently...Devil May Cry?...that seemed to jump around in its own timeline in each installment.

Anyway, I'm going into this with the mindset that there was no way we would have gotten the continuation of a game that took 4-5 years to develop in a scant 18 months. Hence, the trade off for getting more DA in such a short span is to have something on board that can actually be accomplished in that timeframe. Since DA is now one of BW's preeminent franchises, I'm going to assume there might be something else in production that might pick up the Origins threads, since it has been so successful.

Though I'm already missing the awesomeness that is Origins (myCouslandWarden! Alistair!), Bioware has yet to put out a game that I didn't love. *shrug* I have faith that DA2 will be different but spectacular. And if it isn't, I'm sure BW will go back to what was successful, and with this short turnaround, it will be no longer a wait than the 3-6 years we would have been waiting anyway, lol.

These threads are starting to ****** me off. In a it's a game forum and I care more then I should kinda way.

Dragon Age: Awakaning comes around... they tell us the Warden is coming back. PEOPLE FLIP THE HELL OUT. They don't want the Warden back. Their Warden is dead, they want bioware to let him rest and peace and have his death mean something, rather then bring him/her back in some cheap manner.

Dragon Age 2 is announced... they tell us the Warden is NOT coming back. PEOPLE FLIP THE HELL OUT. They want their Warden back. It's the Warden's story... and despite the Warden is dead at the end of many games people want bioware to make him the main character.

I once said I don't feel sorry for bioware cause their prob rolling in the $$$, but I do feel bad that they have to deal with so many frustrating lose-lose situations.

1) Repeatedly making threads on the subject will not make Morrigan come back to your Warden sooner.

Wait, wait, wait. Sooner? You mean to imply that she will come back to him at some point? :innocent:

I know it's not in keeping with the general consensus of Warden/Morrigan fans, but given the delightfully bittersweet nature of that particular relationship, I would hope such a thing does not occur until he's dying under a rock in the Deep Roads.

Because, on my end, I can't really imagine her breaking her word except for to be with the dude in his last moments.

All I would ask.....why did you let all of the timeline and this new epic story not contain our Warden....thats all I ask, I need to know this and may never know, If I get to kind of  reply from you, then I know it's over and I need to take all of the stuff I bought from BioWare out of the system of mine, bash me call me a **** or not having faith.........I had faith in the Warden I made, not the DA world. So just let me know, David and I will leave thsi frorum as you would like and I will not return. I really need to know this.  I know alot of you that do feel this way, won't speak up, it's ok.

1) Repeatedly making threads on the subject will not make Morrigan come back to your Warden sooner.

2) You will need to wait and see what (and if anything) happens with Morrigan in the future. Insofar as DA2 is concerned, the Warden's story is done. I'm sorry if that upsets you, but that's simply the way it is.

Not to wanting to sound dumb about asking, but is the Warden's story done for overall? Or is it done as far as DA 2 and Hawke's story go? Or is this one of the things where many of the Origin character's voices play in your head saying not to answer? Like Allistair saying its a bad idea. lol

Well, it just goes to show that there is a proponent group for every position in the greater marketplace for the product. There is no way to satisfy everyone. The only determining factor is what people buy, which is why it's not in BW's best interest to be overly sensitive to any one segment of the market, even if it's the proported "core" fans that are hollering. At the end of the day, production has to be driven by profitability and sales. The forums are best utilized as a general sounding board that can, in some instances, precursor a more general trend, but only as it relates to a particular segment.

Even though your Warden won't be in DA2, do you really think Bioware will never revisit the whole God Baby thing? It's far too tempting to be left a loose end forever don't you think?

Besides, getting to know Hawke takes nothing away from your experience of DAO. It's still there to be remembered or replayed whenever you want.

yeah, a human with the soul of a god running around the region isn't going to be something you can just ignore, i would be extremely surprised if we never heard of it again.

and i also agree on your second point, i got attached to all my wardens but i cant wait to start a new epic adventure with someone completely different.

Plus, I'm not so sure that the whole "multiple paths, a million endings, and all your decisions carry over forever" thing is actually working well in practice. It seems, in both Awakenings and ME2 that the whole concept played out a lot less grandly than it sounded or was expected. It sounded great as a marketing hook but we've seen that it's a LOT harder to keep everything in play (and thus everyone happy) as the franchise moves forward. What we've ended up with is lip service to the concept of decisions having real heft and weight in subsequent installments, rather than full implementation.

So I'm not surprised that DA2 needed a new direction for feasibility purposes, and I'm going to wait to see how it plays out. Because, maybe continuing DAO the way we all expected/hoped was untenable (especially under EA rule), and BW has to retrench. I can understand that.

This.

This speaks so much truth in the current situation of DA2 right now.

I have FULL faith behind Mr. Gaider that DA2 will truely be epic.

The Grey Wardens were interesting. No doubt about it. But I want that feeling of watching a loading screen for the first time and having no idea of what grand adventure is about to unfold before me. I'm curious about the Mage's Circle and the tranquil and hope both are explored further. I want to know more about Orlais, and perhaps connect more dots in the books I've read. More chests, more dungeons, more stories and more companions await.

Or perhaps he liked DA:O?

Lets use deadwood as a example.

I LOVED the show DEADWOOD and watched the first 3 seasons faithfully but it had 1 more season to go but was cancelled

I cant watch Deadwood and enjoy it because I know I dont get the closure I wanted from the story!
Now I dont throw out my DVDs but I also dont watch them!
Its exactly the same thing!

You "posters" that want to jump all over anyone that doesnt think like you should really just shut up already and quit acting all superior and prissy!
Yes the OP over reacting but thats his right because he feels (and I agree with him on this) that DA:O story is not finished or complete.
In his case, that ruins the franchise for him.

Its really not that hard to understand unless your goal is to just troll and bad mouth people, in which case carry on, your doing a mighty fine job!
