Tali: Don't ever reveal the face.

Pretty much what the topic title says. I'm on of the many Tali'Zorah fans and I'm really quite smitten by her. Love the character that Bioware has created. And It is actually because of this that I wish for the following:
I don't ever want what's beneath her mask revealed to me. Ever. Sure I might plead and pick. If a bioware art director would send me a link to a confirmed faceshot right now, I would open the hell out of it out of curiosity. Fact is however, that it's never going to be as good as what I'm currently thinking of.
What am I thinking of? Why I actually can't say. She's some sort of mammal humanoid on three toes with feintly glowing eyes and a nose. That's it.
However, I also know she's cute, sensitive, unselfish and bashfull. She's a sweetheart. That's the most important thing and it's going to be one heck of a challenge to design me a face that matches the feelings that I have personally attached to a character like Tali's. No matter what Bioware is going to do, I'm going to be dissapointed. And if I'm not going to be dissapointed, 90% of the other fans are.
And so why would you want to reveal anything? Sure some people are going to hiss at never seeing her face, but at the same length, that's exactly what draws us. It creates hype, fascination and fan speculation.
If official sources are never releasing any information, I can always disagree with unnofficial information and use my own immagination. Now that's storytelling.

Interesting input. I almost agree with you. I personally do not care either way. Your post may be better served in the thread itself as extraneous threads about specific characters tend to be locked.
Ah, thanks Collider. I don't frequent these forums enough to know what's what. I just visited a meme thread that poked fun at her and that got me thinking. Search function was a bit lacking and I'm usually eloquent and original enough to warrant a new thread.
I've seen that "Official fan" threads. Think I'll try it there.
Sorry if placement was indeed superfluous.

I personally think BW will ****** off a large group of people no matter what they make her look like. Better to keep it a mystery and let us imagine her the way we want.

I maintain that Tali is so popular due in large part to the fact that you can't see her face, and therefore you are able to assume it is the most beautiful face you can imagine. Any other face in the game (Liara, Jack, Miranda, etc.) is plainly visible, and if it doesn't appeal to you, then the character probably won't win you over. Tali is not subject to this limiting factor.

I agree with the OP. Revealing Tali's face will put a severe crimp in a lot of Talimancers' hoses. The outcry would be huge, no matter what they did. There is just too much fantasy projection invested in this character's face.

In other words...

Be warned, it's like a locker room in that Tali thread, be prepared for a lot of hyper-sexual objectifying chitchat. If your affection for the character is of the more innocent/platonic variey, you will probably be turned off by that thread.

I personally would like to see her face. I know it will likely not be what I imagined, but that's the whole point. If you suddenly find yourself disliking Tali because she doesn't fit your idea of what she should look like, then I posit that you never truly loved her for her; you were only in love with the IDEAL of her. That was the whole crux behind her romance!
Hadn't seen it like that. Also a very interesting angle into the subject.
Still, I don't have that much attachement toTali and from a storytelling point of view, I'm more in love with the idea of a romantic character then one that unmasks herself.
Matter of preference I guess, but thanks for sharing!

I agree about Tali specifically, though; part of what makes the character and subsequent development unique is the fact that you never see her face. I think that's something BioWare tried to create in deciding not to show it--Having a believable character behind the mask, in other words a character who is endearing purely through personality/beliefs and not by appearance.

They've only been wearing those suits for a few hundred years there are plenty of people still alive that know exactly what they look like, and im sure this is something you could easily look up if you were interested on whatever the galactic wikipedia was.
One way to do it would be a mission that takes place on another/the same old quarian planet/structure/ship/whatever that was last inhabited before they started wearing those suits. Then a picture/painting/drawing/statue of an unsuited generic quarian could be seen.
I dont think any modern quarians would unsuit due to tradition and just feeling awkward. This is the sort of thing that would take generations to get rid of even if they did not need to wear them anymore.
