Mechanics. Yes. I don't understand why they don't inform us more about the combat, the systems, how things will work. At least informally, on the forums. Will they finally get rid of level scaling. Will combat encounters be more varied, in the sense that we'll need to use different tactics. What will they do about the potion spam problem. What about this regeneration of hp/mana outside of combat (and mana even during combat), which I dislike very much; why not consider a resting system?

Those are things that they rarely mention in the marketing campaign, if ever. We can wait but it won't be answered in magazines, preview videos etc. anyway.

You want the character to have to actually stop and rest?

Yes I do. I actually want a strategy element; how to spend my resources.

With regeneration you don't have a choice; you're always at full hp/mana after every combat.

In a resting system I can decide to rest a maximum of, let's say, 10 times. For RP (I don't want to waste too much time) and challenge reasons. And if there are places where you can't rest, even better, because it gets more interesting.

Not sure how old you are but im guessing under 30 as you clearly dont know what im about to say!

The system you want doesnt work for todays mana pool spellcasting.
Resting makes perfect sence when you pray/memorize a certain number of spells for each level
So if forces you to be smarter in combat as you have a mass selection of spells.

In mana pool combat you just cast your big offence over and over, most folks barely even look at a lesser spell unless they are actually outta mana!

The two systems dont work the same and there for you cant put group resting into these modern games.

I played the system you want and yes it was fun and it was a billion times more strategic and tactical then todays combat. But todays combat is faster and cleaner and thats what people want now adays!

Im telling you, your idea of forced rest periods would impact modern day sales ATON because people have no patience anymore for that sorta stuff. If they did, we would still have turn based combat which is far more indepth and resourceful then todays RT combats.

You cant mix and match the two, its been tried and it doesnt work!

It would work with a mana pool just fine. Just like with memorized spells. No difference.

You're too pessimistic.

Oh, and the bolded part.

Rather then picking one part to bold how about you read the whole thing?

IT DOESNT SELL!

That trumps stratagy and tactics every time

Your like thos SWG players, game flops and doesnt last but they want EVERYONE to ignore that because they and a few others like it!
SALES FIGURES MATTER

Cant make it any clearer then that

The info drip is so that the devs have time to hack out portions of the game, else they end up with, say, being able to import BG2 characters into NWN1.

Personally, I hope that the 'best' magic items are gotten through doing dungeons/quests (and not none of that right before or during end game questing--that's lame) and not bought in the store for such massive prices that you can only grab one or two.

The funny thing is that before the patch that fixed mana/hp regen rates on higher levels, it would have been faster to press a button then skip the cutscene and return to the game (what takes like 5 secs top).

I want to see more shots that relieve my fears that the game looks as bad as those two screens already released.

Also, despite already having confirmation it will be similar to DA:O, I would like to hear more about PC combat mechanics.

You sound too sure. Have you done any actual research about the impact of resting in games on sales? Or are you.. you know. :wizard:

Well we might not see a big info dump for a while, but Game Informer is slowly letting out information about the game.

Actually, from what I've read of translated version of an article ABOUT the GI article, it sounds like we get some pretty major info. Now, will it tell us anything OTHER than "this huge thing happens"... who knows...

well I'm 100% sure that after "this huge thing happens" it will tell us "and the Hawke does something about it".

Personally I'm most interested in hearing how this whole framed narrative thing is going to affect immersion and continuity. I've made my peace with my initial disappointment that the game won't be about the same GW from DAO, and am really excited for the game, but the only big worry I have is the whole flashback method they plan to use.

For example, if we meet someone in one flashback, how much time will we have with them to build a relationship (platonic or otherwise) before we change to a different story perhaps years later? I worry that we won't really "get to know" anyone like we did in Origins since it won't be a long, unbroken passage of time with them. I really don't want to meet a LI then in the next story be married to them or something. =P

I'm not jumping to any conclusions...I just wonder how the framed narrative will affect relationships and growth.

Character customization (Tatoos, hairs mostly)

Morrigan

Future companions (Not much, just about a hot girl. They are always needed into the group)

Weapon and armor stuff.

The 'drip-feed' is simply modern marketing. It's been done for years and it is by design, to gradually build hype all out of proportion to the actual product. Oh, and it's pretty damn silly too.

I like it better this way. Gives you something to think about. If we suddenly knew everything, then we'd have three months with no info. Not very exciting and it doesn't make you want to rush to get the game

All I can say is that it is going to be a tougher wait for those that are able to get into the screening at SDCC. Much tougher.

Nah.  People would whine "share their opinion" about that too.

Judging by the recent Game Informer interview, it has been implied that the VO Narration changes depending on your prior decisions. This has moved to the top of the list for me.
