Will there actually be any visible consequences for my actions this time around?

I've been mulling it over my head how the game is supposed to span 10 years.  Does this mean we will see the world change according to our action either slowly or via timeskip(s), and be able to do quests(Read: Not just one, but 2 or more) that would otherwise be impossible to do had I done something different at the beginning?

I can understand in DA:O the need for the Warden to hurry up with a Darkspawn horde stepping on his heels, but I hope we won't follow the "Arrive in town, do all quests, buy/sell stuff, onto the next town" formula most games like to put us in.

I think o/ They said that one reason the narrative will work well is that they can skip ahead and you can imediately see the results of your actions.

Hopefully we really see some genuine and important changes to the environment/story based upon our actions. I would like more than was available in DA:O.

ME2 was more of an RPG than ME1.

Well when you boil it down like that, isn't that what pretty much every game really is?

They say consequences will have visable actions, but so did Fable. We'll have to see just how they try to pull it off.

I think there's a lot of reason to be optimistic about this aspect of the game. Look at how cool it was from ME1 to ME2 in terms of all the interesting things that carried over, and the consequences thereof. That seems to be the same general idea, not just of what we do in DAO carrying over into DA2, but of what we do early on in DA2 carrying over into later in DA2. I'd say DA2 could easily surpass ME2's awesomeness in this area. I am definitely looking forward to seeing this in action, it seems extremely promising, to say the least.

Yes, it was specifically mentioned in the Game Informer article that the narrative style of the story -- skipping between time periods -- would enable the devs to show more visible change reacting to the player's actions; save a town, the villagers might help you later; forsake it, and it will later be a ruin.

It was mentioned in the same breath that DA2 is shaping up to be the most in-depth game in BioWare's history in terms of the game world reacting to the player's actions. It all really does appear to be the Mass Age of Dragon Effect x epicness.

You are joking...yes? Posted Image

to the OP:

Maybe a few choices will be shown but I'm doubtful they will have any world-changing impact. That would cause too many problems unless somethings are cannonized I would think.

Before I go on,

1.) ME2 was not catered to the "MW2 addicts", this is a stupid misconception. ME2 is not a first person shooter, it's a Third-Person Shooter Action RPG. Looting and Inventory does not an RPG make, those are merely niches to which RPGs have decided to stick by since they were invented, and I was EXTREMELY glad they did away with that because I could not play through ME1 a third time because of the god-forsaken, evil, befouled, and baby-eating inventory system ME1 had. The only thing from ME1 I missed was unlimited ammo and companion customization.

2.) I'm going off on what little information Bioware has released. Will it be the same game as DA:O? Obviously not. Will be like Mass Effect? No, it will not be Mass Effect, because so far as we know, they haven't done away with the combat system inventory system, or anything else besides changing the dialogue tree with a dialogue wheel.

3.) By far, the Fable series has been the only games where they actually bothered to change how the world looked according to your actions before the timeskips. And yes, I liked Fable 1/2, so sue me. And no, I was not expecting Molyneux to follow on his word of "YOU CAN DO ANYTHING" because anyone with two halfs of a brain could tell this is not possible and did not set themselves up for disappointment when we "couldn't do it all".
