Ive been reading these forums for some time and really all I see is complaining and asking why isnt ME2 doing this and why can't it fit my specific needs on this. ME2 is an amazing game and yet people still have filled up pages and pages of arguments of why it sucks, and why Bioware sucks, ect, ect.

This topic is dedicated to just appreciating what Mass Effect 2 really is. A brilliant, mind blowing, probably even Game of the Year-game. Its not a debate of is it better then ME1, is it the best game ect. Its just a topic to appreciate how much time and effort Bioware put into an amazing game.

So first off let me list the points of this topic.
-Its not a debate of ME1 and ME2. Both are great games, both made me love Bioware.
-This is a topic to list what we enjoyed about ME2, not what we disliked

So in effort to see if people can just appreciate the game post below your favorite part(s) of ME2, doesnt matter if its cinematic craziness, funny lines from joker or just a fun little moment like the game salesman on the citidel.

Heres my list

The darker plot-I loved it, I loved the bittersweet way Bioware made me feel, especially with Samara. Sure Shepard can get almost anyone but nope not always. I loved that bittersweet moment

The diversity of characters-From a happy, crazy guy like Mordin to the sad broken Jack every one of the characters were done with impecable care. Each had a backstory worth learning and each made you feel for them

The pacing-This was done brilliantly. People might say it is linear but it pushed the game the way it wanted you to go and I enjoyed it. Made it feel rushed, like you actually didnt have all the time in the world and the collectors were really a threat

The Suicide mission-No game in my life has made me sit on my seat like that. I loved the pacing of the entire mission as well as the amazing cinematics. A fitting end to an amazing game.

Lets see what the rest of you have to say

Before I got into the Mass Effect mind set, I was concidering either buying Mass Effect, Bioshock, or just plane selling my 360 because I got the RRoD. After hearing about all of the good reviews I read for ME, I decided to try the game out on a friends system and fell in love with the game. For several weeks prior to the RRoD, I was losing interest in any gaming system and concidered selling them just to get them out of the way for future possesions. After playing that ME rental on a friends system, my love for gaming was re-lit and I sent my own system off to be repaired so I could play the game for myself. This series is literally the best game I have ever played and re-kindled a near dead joy that is now a valued portion of my life.

I loved how the suicide mission played out. Even though I know my shepard will surivive I'm always on the edge of my seat to see whether or not he'll make it during the last scene. and of course getting the nobody left behind achievement was great.

It got me excited for Mass Effect 3, so I'll give it that much.

I completely agree, everyone wants everything for this game. ****ing ungrateful. The fact that the thread called "Dissapointment with ME2" has 250+ pages sickens me.

The trilogy, in my eyes, is pure art. One of two rare examples of how videogames are SO much more than mindless entertainment. Congrats Bioware, you have created a story worthy of praise regardless of your opinion on 'games'.

Most people are greedy, unfortunately. Hopefully Bioware won't take all the complaining to heart.

Seeing as I had to pay for this game and didn't recieve it free I don't see any reason why I should be "grateful" for anything.

Incidentally, this game was a gift to me by a friend of mine.

My point stands however.

By the same rules, there are plenty of people with an over-developed sense of entitlement that think that because they paid for a game then it must cater to their every whim and warp all reality around them to do so.

Thank you for this thread!

I was really getting annoyed by those "ME2 sucks, Bioware sucks" threads.

ME2 has problems but it is greatest game that I played.

ME1 takes third place( CoD UO is still one of my favorite games of all time).

Just a quick bump. Sad that this forum lacks so many people who actually enjoyed ME2.

I agree. Mass Effect 2 has flaws but it's still a great game.

It's just the problem that the people who got dissapointed expected ME2 to be as good as ME1, but that wasn't the case for them when they played it.

It's not surprising though. You'll always have more people complaining about things than praising.

ME1 and 2 are both fantastic games well worth their investment. Compare being entertained any where else and you can quickly agree on that point at least. Going out to eat or to a movie is just as costly as the price of either game and only last an hour or 2 at best. These games provide a good 30-50 hours or MORE if you replay them as much as I have for 50.00. Assuming thats the average price for each game. So in terms of entertainment value, well worth it.

To me they are like living out a fantasy life or being the star of your own movie, I felt really immersed in the storyline and invested to make sure we succeeded and that I kept as many people alive as I could, because I grew to like these characters as I would real friends. I can't wait for 3.

On a side note, I also love Dragon Age and can't wait for Dragon Age 2. Kudos to Bioware!

Mass Effect 1 & 2 are my favorite games. For a long time Fire Emblem was my favorite (primarily because number 7 was the first game I got completely sucked into and started my love for gaming) but it's now bumped down to number 2. For me, Mass Effect is all the things I hope for in a game and I hope that more games are like this and continue to evolve and improve :D

Also, I looked through Bioware's game list and it occurred to me that they have not released a bad game. Individuals may have problems with the games, but the big name critics have all scored Bioware games highly. This achievement is on par with Pixar in the movie industry, which has never released a flop. Kudos to you, Bioware! :D I'm positive Mass Effect 3 will keep your perfect streak going!

It's an orginal Sci-Fi world. It may take a liberity or two from other Sci-Fi's, but it definitely has it's own flavor. More importantly, they go out of their way to explain the sciences, politics, and races without being too overbearing.

FF13 had that problem when it threw all sorts of terminalogies at you with few definitions.

BioWare has pretty much bent over backwards to make the fans appeased.

--Didn't like the Mako? Gone.

--Didn't like the micromanagement? Bye-bye to that.

--Didn't like the RPG elements? They've been greatly reduced.

--Bored with driving around planets in search of rocks? No more.

--Wanted Garrus and Tali as romanceable characters? Done (and brilliantly executed).

--More squaddies? Here, have twice as many new characters.

I mean, seriously, I never got why people complain so much. What more can they do?? I'm sorry, but this is a sore spot for me. Am I a BW fangrrl? Yup. But you have to admit they achieved the above, and they have THE best track record *ever* for listening to fan feedback.

The ME universe is digital crack and every bit as legit a world as that in Star Wars or anything else you care to mention. Is ME2 perfect? Heck, no. Is it a great, replayable game? Hell, yes!

And the Suicide Mission was fantastic.

my favorite game by far. I don't think it'll get GOTY as it's an rpg and it has to compete with whatever COD/Halo is released come award time, but overall great game. the suicide mission was definitely the highlight of the game and i hope ME3 builds off of that. i don't mean to sound morbid but i think ME3 could use more squad death. basically every main plot mission can result in shep losing one or two guys so that if you screw up all game you can fail at the end.

Basically a 20+ hour suicide mission

Loved this game. I hope there are more missions in ME 3 where you use your squad is involved (Lorewise). I like the universe, combat, etc. I liked all of the characters and how each one had their own sort of role (ie you couldn't have them all be soldier). I was actually surprised to see some of the stuff imported over from ME1. I would run into people and think "wow I didn't think they would include that in here"I didn't think they would have remebered my actions  in me1 or took the time to remind me of those actions such as Ferros etc.. Anyway I loved ME1, Me2, and cannot wait for ME3.

I've given Mass Effect 2 a hard time as far as the loyalty quests are concerned. In all honesty, I thoroughly enjoyed the game and I'm looking forward to Mass Effect 3.

ANd now what they say is

-We want mako back HAMMERHEAD SUCKS
-Bring back the old inventory!!!!!!!
-Too much shooter not enough RPG!
-Probing planets is gay bring back exploration!
-We didnt get to see tali's face thats GAY!
-Too many squad mates! There pointless!

Seriously bioware does everything they tell them too and they compalin about it. It would be funny if they didn't take it so seriously...
