Let's keep this page alive, I can't stand how some of the hate-threads are already at 300 pages.

I hope BioWare doesn't take all the haters to heart, ME2 was a fabulous game!

Deep RPG elements, especially in the loyalty missions, streamlined combat--hardly a dumbed-down verion of ME1.

Maybe the mods just like reading them on their off time.

This game is a lot of fun to play, experimenting with different classes and such. They all feel different. However, my favorite part of the game was how I felt I knew the characters in the game, and I really thought through who I would use on the suicide mission to try and get people to live.

Most of the posts in those hate threads are just a few people bickering back and forth. There are some legitimate points, so I hope Bioware reads them, but its mostly just bored people picking nits after their 10th play through.

My favorite part of the game is something that bioware has done very well in all their games - creating really several distinct, beautiful settings that really suck you into the world. Open world RPGs like Oblivion and Morrowind give you a massive world that you can explore. Bioware gives you a smaller space to explore but each location is so distinct, gorgeous and detailed that their universe seems so much larger.

Mass Effect 2 was a great character driven shooter/rpg hybrid that improved on its predecessor in every way except one, multi-stage missions ala Noveria. Really, as much as I loved ME1, it feels so antiquated after ME2 I am having a hard time playing it again.
Specifically, the combat and characters. ME2 combat is much more active and I can actually use tactics now that my squadmates are much less suicidal. In ME1 it was hard for me to see how Liara was not in to killing things since her bloodlust was so great she just had to Leroy Jenkins every mission I went on. Lucky I was partial to her she was. Of course I had no such feelings for Lt. Human Shield.  :innocent:

While I liked the ME1 story, that game is to linear for me. ME2 I have more control over the narrative leading up to the suicide run. While each game funnels you to a single endpoint ME1 felt more like a wind tunnel at times. I like being able to pick the squadmates I want and choosing how they will effect the outcome of the game. You know, big choices and visceral combat. B)

Well, I liked how much focus was put on developing the characters. For all their popularity, Liara and Tali really just felt like walking Encyclopedias  in the first game. I also loved the upgrades that some of the classes got, like the Vanguard and the Sentinel.

I will say though, people do have the right to criticize a game if they want to.

They do but the hate is just insane.

I believe that the game should get some praise on its official forum so I created this topic

I guess while I'm in this topic I'll also say another point of praise is how Bioware handled the weapons this go around. I know people rant about how Bioware stripped away the inventory system, but honestly the weapon selection was far superior in ME2. Unlike ME1, there was no definitive best weapon/armor. Based on all the Shotgun, Sniper, and Assault Rifle debates it pretty much shows that Bioware left it in the hands of the player to determine their "definitive weapon." Me personally, I love the Schmitar more than anything else on my Vanguard.

+ The whole Suicide Mission sequence. One of the greatest moments in gaming history for me. Period.

+ The reunion with Wrex + Garrus' reveal. While most of the cameos were a bit underwhelming, those 2 moments gave me a big smile (even if archangel = garrus was obvious).

+ Tali, Mordin & Grunt's loyalty missions. They were really rich on lore and in a non-expository way (like ME1 Tali).

+ Joker's surprise mission.

This game rocks! I loved....

- New abilities of Soldier, Vangaurd, Sentinel and Infiltrator!

- The new characters especially Miranda, Mordin, Grunt, Thane and Samara

- Bringing back Garrus and Tali, most likely the best choices to bring back.

- The cool looking N7 armour, love the idea of upgrading the armour etc.

- Heavy weapons, one word....awsome!!!!!

- Importing of previouse game story & decisions...epic!!!

- Suicide mission, totally awsome!

- Able loose your team if you don't prepare correctly!

- Ivon Strahovsky!

- New normandy rocks!

- Replay value is over the moon, 5 months later I am still playing new play throughs!

- DLC content is constant and of good quality!

- Story is deep, dark and creates choices that make for interesting moral dialemas.

- Joker's increased role in the game!

- The sound track was awsome!

- Graphics is better and runs smoother then anything I have ever played!

Well done Bioware!

Agreed!  I loved being a Renegade Infiltrator, and when I used my sniper rifle, the enemies would slow down and I could blast their heads off  with two shots.  The Widow Maker is the best of the best.

I also loved how weapons bonuses and accessibility changed combat experience  ME2; although this change occured in ME1, it wasn't to ME2's degree.  As a Paragade Sentinel, I didn't access to the sniper until the middle of the same, and that was because I chose while searching The Collector Base; but there was no bonus of slowing down combat to blast enemy heads.  It was a different combat experience.

Actually another one I just though of is how your previous actions allow you different interupts. Like with Veetor at the beginning, if your renegade you can shoot the thing, if paragon you wipe it with omni tool. But the one that shows up depends on your actions before. I thought it was very well designed

I remember that!  I remember on my Renegade Shep I shot the thing with the interrupt, but on my Paragade, I got the Paragon interrupt.

I also enjoyed playing as Joker.  I was stunned that BioWare included us being able to play as a different character in ME2.

I believe the Veetor one depends on how you initiate the conversation with him. And then it actually keeps giving you alternating interrupts until you activate one.

Jack Wall composed a fabulous score in ME1, but ME2 contributed so much more to the atmosphere. I really got the feeling there was a sense of impending doom and urgency. Especially "Suicide Mission," and "The End Run," although they are variants of the same theme. "Love Theme," was romantic, but "Reflections," suited the the poignancy of Shepard's situation, either when reflecting about her ME1 LI or with the ME2 LI.

I'm definitely in support of this thread. Suicide Mission is by far the most intense sequence I've ever played in a game, comparable to most movies. Really, the whole damn game is brilliant. I didn't want it to end. I immediately got the soundtrack and as soon as I'm moved into my new house will definitely have to order up the books.

Edit: (Has removed this section do to opened eyes, will ponder over greatness)
Favorite Part = Second Garrus Romance Conversation.
"You know me, I like to savor the last shot before popping the heat sink. Wait...that metaphor just when somewhere horrible." Epic.

I love that part, Garrus is just so awkward trying to romance him.

However I still love the part when you first start to talk to Jack

"You know, no ones asked me about this s**t before so f**k you and thanks for asking." Says so much about her character, and the delivery is perfect

It's like, she wants to put a round in your head but at the same time some part of her is happy to know you give a sh*t.
