I'd actually rather never directly see the Black City. Mystery, the mysterious, it is far more powerful in any medium (video games, books, movies) than answers. Answers ruin everything. The truth is always weaker than the legend, and the imagination is more boundless than reality.
If the closest we ever get is a glimpse from a great distance while in the Fade (like the codex from DA:O suggests happens) that would be perfect.

This kind of begs the question.....what happened to the maker? If his city was irreparably destroyed without hope of restoration well.....where did he go? What did he do?
