Absolutely have to give the Film a chance IMO. These things are so hit and miss that there's no way to tell from Trailers.

Agree with you guys on the suit, too.

Edit to add: BTW...if anyone happens to see the Capt. America flick...please post or PM me with opinions.

Seeing it tomorrow. I'll post something.

Really good. I enjoyed it. Go check it out.

I hate Alan Moore and I hate this New Spider-man along with this trend of hiring British people to play Americans. Superman is an American, don't even start.
And did I hear they're doing the origin again? Who doesn't know that story backwards and forward now? That applies to both characters.

Why do you hate Alan Moore? and really what is the big deal if British people play Americans?

As for the new Spder-Man movie it really looks like they are going for a "Batman Begins" feel to it, well it can't get any worse than the Raimi films.

Ok, I didn't like Batman Begins.
Alan Moore was built up as this great comic writer and I found him meh and he repeats himself in everything, then I find out he's a huge jerk that craps on all the movies based on his stuff without even giving them a chance.
I really can't get into my british thing here but why don't you go ask why it was so important that the harry potter movies have a british cast?

i think when writers take on the stories of other writers, it becomes some sort of transcended fanfic. except its canon.

Image IPB  I see where this is going.  Image IPB

I will say this once... Parkour (fancy running and jumping) only has so many moves. (Yes what Spider-Man does is Parkour. He even chases a Parkour using villian around New York.) There are going to be similarities. Hell, in that one game Whats-her-face did just about ever impressive move that can be done. That fact that the two both ran, jumped, fell, climbed, and looked at their reflection means... nothing.

Part of it is that Superman is the original.  He can be forgiven for thinks like cornyness and being overpowered because he's such an icon.  Others don't have that going for them.

I could say that about most comic characters. The majority of them have existed longer than they have a right to. That includes everyone's golden boy, Batman. As for Superman, the appeal of that character does not come from his powers. I think any writer who believes that needs to do more research. Then again I am not basing this too much on his comic book versions. Comics have a way of ruining every character simply by virtue of never ending. Ever.

I think superheros are victims of their own success. Either you love them that nothing they do is bad or you hate them so much that nothing they do is good.
Or their obscure to the point you won't notice anything they do.
The problem with superman is that he's got too many powers. oh but his weakness is a rock from his home planet...
Tell me how did so many of those things reach earth? because thats beyond me.

Except Squirrel Girl. She is awesome.

I don't hate most of the characters I grew up reading about, or seeing in cartoons. I think the problem is there's only so many stories you can tell about a person before the situations they keep getting into seem ridiculous. Most of these characters should be clinically insane considering the sheer amount of hardship they lived, or died and resurrected through.

I find it more appealing to read stories about new characters without decades of baggage and writer changes. Terry Moore's Echo for instance. It's nice to know only one writer will work on the same character--her creator. It's also nice to think the story is going somewhere and will eventually reach a conclusion.

Reading Marvel and DC stuff feels like tilting at windmills at this point.

That´s one of the reasons I often prefer manga. Usually when it´s over, it is over. I read Marvel and DC when the creative team is interesting, rather than for the character. There are also the problems of big changes happening in big events unrelated to the main series plot, too many plotlines seem developed by a comitee rather than a writer, and everything changes but stays the same or jumps 20 years backwards.

I hope Squirrel Girl will single-handedly end this 'Fear Itself' trainwreck from Marvel.

That's a great series.

I follow mostly independent comics at this point, because as stated they actually have an end (there are exceptions of course, like Witchblade for instance, which I still follow because of a writer I really like).

I was a big fanboy of CrossGen back in the day, which had many excellent comics in many differen genres, but still with one big storyline tying everything together. But of course they went belly up before they could wrap everything up and Marvel bought them.

I don't think spiderman should be running all that much anyway so I hate this from multiple angles. The guy can jump like crazy and swing to travel long distances.

Are there enough squirrels in the world, though, to take down the Hulk?

She beat Doctor Doom, so Squirrels must be immune to magic. Who knows the type of power they possess.

Funny thing is, she didn't even use her squirrels when she gave Deadpool a licking. She just beat him up.

its the same footage!! the jumping at the mirror at the end SAME FOOTAGE
sliding under pipes and grabbling ledges the EXACT same way Faith did in the game.
Ignoring it by saying "spiderman uses parkour so its similar"  won't change the fact that they took Mirorr's Edge and used it for this trailer.

New Superman costume is bad... and not in the good way.
I hope a nice side effect of the stupid(the guardians, not the writer) decision to make Sinestro a Green Lantern again is that the Fear Corps can get a proper name.
